Well, earlier this year, city launched unprecedented legal action against these associated party transaction rules, which govern and restrict the deals that clubs sometimes sign with sponsors, with companies linked to their owners — deals like the one that abu dhabi—owned city have signed, in fact, with etihad airlines, for example. Now, the league said that these rules were necessary to maintain competitive balance, to make sure these deals were of fair market value. City said they were unlawful, anti—competitive and discriminatory, and today a tribunal panel published its 175 page report into this dispute. And both sides, as you say, claimed victory. The premier league said that the panel had upheld and endorsed the broad framework of these rules, but it did concede that on two areas they had been found to be unlawful, including the fact that the loans that club owners sometimes give to their clubs at zero interest rates were excluded from the scope of these regulations. That meant that city, of course, could then claim victory. They said that they had succeeded in this case. They said that the panel had found that in these two areas, the rules were breaching competition law. They also made the point that the panel had found it was unfair for the league to block two sponsorship deals that city had tried to sign earlier in the year. Now, the league say they can make amendments swiftly that will make their rules compatible with competition law, but there are questions being raised as to whether or not this will have major ramifications for the financial rules going forward, lead to compensation claims, and what impact it could have on that other dispute that city and the league are embroiled in. City, of course, claim no wrongdoing, but they are being looked at over 100 charges of alleged financial rule breaches by the league. Well, dan touched on the issue there of loans from shareholders to clubs not previously falling under the apt rules. We spoke to kieran maguire, a football finance expert at the university of liverpool, about how this might have an impact across the league. You've got everton with loans of £450 million from farhad moshiri, you've got brighton with a £370 million from tony bloom and they have not charged interest historically. They will say, well, we don't need to charge interest. We're just interested in the football club. We happen to be fans or we happen to be looking at it through a different lens. We've got low pressure in charge — you can see areas of clouds circulating around that. There's also another deep area of low pressure in the mix. This is ex—hurricane kirk — this will stay to the south of us, but it will essentially join forces with our low. Some heavy downpours over the next couple of days, then the whole lot shifts eastwards, leaving us with northerly winds and something significantly colder. But in the short—term for tuesday, still relatively mild, actually, with a mix of some sunshine, yes, but also some really heavy, thundery downpours. A band of cloud and rain moving slowly northwards across the far north of england, northern ireland, into southern scotland — some parts of southeast scotland looking very wet, indeed.
