It is now a worldwide hit, parkrun celebrates 20 years. Hello. Welcome to the programme. Israel has carried out further Bombing Raids on beirut, as fighting with hezbollah continues on the ground in southern lebanon. The United Nations says they smack faces a terrible refugee crisis. Says lebanon faces a terrible refugee crisis. These are todays main developments in the Middle East conflict. After carrying out strikes on beirut overnight, israel again struck its southern suburbs this afternoon. Clashes were also reported around lebanons southern border. The israeli military released this video claiming to show israeli troops operating in the region. Hezbollah has fired rockets into Northern Israel, with reports that residential buildings were hit. Israel says 90 rockets have been fired so far. People across israel are waiting to see how their Government will respond to tuesdays major iranian missile strike, israel meanwhile has called on palestinians to evacuate parts of central gaza, as the military said it was preparing to use great force against hamas fighters in the area. Pro palestinian protests are being held around the Globe Today calling for a ceasefire in gaza and an end to the conflict. They come two days before the anniversary of the killing of about 1200 israelis in the Hamas Attack that sparked the current conflict. Lets Go live to my colleague anna foster, who is in the lebanese capital, beirut. Thank you, i crossed the city earlier today and those continuing Air Strikes were clear to see. As you Go into the mountains and look down over the rooftops, you can see those rising columns of smoke. At one point, there were several israeli that hit in a similar area over the course of an hour and similar area over the course of an hourand one similar area over the course of an hour and one was very close to the airport, that rising column of smoke. There are always concerns. The southern suburbs are in close proximity to the airport, but there are still fears hear anything that too close or indeed a deliberate Israeli Strike on the runway would stop people being able to leave this country. It is something that is already pretty difficult to do. We have seen the Un Today one of the Displacement Crisis we are seeing here, warning of a terrible crisis of 1. 2 million people at last count who fled their Homes Notjust here in beirut who have moved to a different part of the city to a different part of the city to move away from those israeli Air Strikes but also those large scale evacuations we have seenin large scale evacuations we have seen in the south of Levin On as well where the Idf Have told people to leave their homes in various places. Quite a broad sweep of southern lebanon, that Goes a long way north. We have also seen today more hezbollah rockets fired into the north of israel were fighting continues. Nick beake reports from Northern Israel. Israel is stepping up its strikes in Lebanon Beirut rocked by more blasts today, as the israeli army says it continues to hit hezbollah targets, including near the citys airport. This was said to be a strike on one commander this afternoon. But the expanded assault has forced more than A Million lebanese from their homes in the past two weeks, many taking refuge in the capital. There may be glimpses of normality, but this is not the Safe Haven they hoped it would be. Translation the situation is a disaster and we are living through it. What should we do . We cannot Go anywhere. We cannot travel. All the country is at risk. Hezbollah have been fighting and firing back. 700 rockets reportedly launched in the past four days. An elderly woman in this town survived when her flat was hit. Israel says the new daily Rocket Fire into the north of the country is the reason why its now invaded lebanon. The aim is to push back hezbollah so the displaced israeli families living near the border can return. That is easier said than done and so far hezbollah has responded by firing deeper into israel, including into communities like this one. As we were getting ready to leave, another alarm and then this. You can see how this time, directly overhead, a missile is intercepted. We were just filming on top of the roof there, and as you can hear, there is another siren. Come inside, please. There is another alert so we are trying to take some safety and get some shelter in here. Go inside. Those living here told us they support Israels Expansion of the war. We have to be here sure that the army will do what is needed to be done and to bring this safety to our citizens here in the north. To the north, inside lebanon, israeli soldiers are trying to consolidate their new gains, but hezbollah say there have been fierce clashes and claim to have wounded advancing israeli troops in a war which is widening and deepening. Nick beake, bbc news, Northern Israel. Joining me now is bbc persian correspondent, kasra naji. What is happening in terms of an israeli response or a planned or threatened israeli response to that iranian Missile Attack we saw earlier this Week Yellow 7 the this Week Yellow . The military this Week Yellow . The military and this Week Yellow . Tue Military And Intelligence this Week Yellow . Tte Military And Intelligence and political leadership here, they are holding back to back meetings to decide what shape Israels Response is Going to take and when it is Going to happen. It is quiet on the streets. All of these meetings are happening behind the scenes, many people here are anxious as to when this thing will happen and what response israel, iran will come up response israel, iran will come up with. When it gets dark, very few people come out on the streets. In the last few hours, we had the commander of the us forces in the region, he arrived here for consultations with the israeli leaders. The thinking is that if there is Going to be a response from israel, which is Going to be happening any time, this will have repercussions in the region, serious ones and also a serious repercussions for the us forces in the region. So they are discussing about the shape of this response and the targets. They are Going through a list of targets as to what to hit from irans nuclear solutions to the infrastructure, particularly Energy Infrastructure and the revolutionary guard bases in iran. People are waiting and we think this attack might come at any hour, any day now. Any hour, any day now. Thank ou. We have just had lines through from the Afp News Agency about french president emmanuel macron, who has called for an immediate ceasefire between israel and lebanon, saying he will organise an international conference in support of lebanon at some point this month. Also 88 Francophone Countriesjoining month. Also 88 francophone countries joining that call for a ceasefire. Now that israeli ground operation, invasion has started here in lebanon. We heard earlier. Flutra Gorana is war childs middle East Director and is in beirut supporting thousands of displaced people many of them children. She was talking about the particular impact that inevitably has on children. We have been inevitably has on children. Inevitably has on children. We have been inevitably has on children. Have been preparing for this for quite some time but no have been preparing for this for quite some time but no matter how much you prepare, it matter how much you prepare, it is hard when it hits because it is hard when it hits because it always catches you by surprise, always catches you by surprise, war is never easy. War is never easy. But for now, we are prepared, we have enough supplies to last us for a couple of months and then if the situation worsens and they close the airport because, as you mentioned, it is being attacked constantly, then the situation will really be devastating. It already is but it would just Go downhill and it would just Go downhill and it is hard to imagine how. It is like the situation in gaza where it is very difficult to bring supplies and so i hope we dont get that stage. Many people in 11 and find themselves internally displaced, particularly those from poorer areas in the south of the country, they dont always have the means or ability, financial means, the passport to leave the country if they want to. Exception of the lebanese national Flag Exception of the lebanese Nationalflag Carrier Exception of the lebanese national Flag Carrier have stopped flying and there are now Governments organising Evacuation Flights out of the airport. They are continuing despite israeli Air Strikes on the suburbs that are close to the suburbs that are close to the airport. The uk has flown three Charter Flights so far. There is a fourth due to leave on sunday. The uk has said that will be the last one for now. They say demand has decreased so they wont be doing any more at the current time. The south korean Air Force flew out 97 nationals early on saturday morning. Australia, which had about 15,000 citizens in lebanon, has been flying aircraft from nearby cyprus. These are the latest pictures of australian citizens and their relatives arriving in the coastal city of larnaca, and plans for a seaborne evacuation as well. China has said 200 of its citizens have been safely evacuated. Nearly a year since the start of this latest escalation in the Middle East which began with those attacks on the 7th of october, launched by hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other armed militant groups that went from gaza into israel and killed more than A Thousand people, that was followed by hezbollah beginning to Fire Rockets into Northern Israel and that sparked the escalation we have been seeing over the last year or so. Protests have been taking place worldwide today to call for an end to this escalating conflict. In Cape Town protesters marched with Palestinian Flags and banners, ending at the parliament where they delivered a memorandum. Around 5,000 people have attended an anti War Demonstration in the italian capital rome. You can see here people turning out of their flights as well. These are pictures from the german capital berlin. These are pictures from edinburgh, where protesters gathered. Crowds on the streets, people calling for an end to this escalating conflict in the Middle East. These were the scenes in dublin, where the march was organised by the ireland palestine solidarity campaign. And in london, protesters marched from Russell Square to whitehall, where speeches were delivered. 0ur Correspondent Divya talwar was there. The crowds have largely dispersed now but earlier today there were Tens Of Thousands of people who turned up on the streets of the capital to take part in the demonstration. You could see a sea of Palestinian Flags and people holding placards and banners saying things like, Ceasefire Now and hands off lebanon. As the march took place, people were holding these large megaphones chanting things like stop the bombing, stop it now. There were people from all sorts of backgrounds, people of different ages who took part in the march. We saw babies in prams, elderly people, people from different parts of the country coming to call for an immediate ceasefire in gaza. And an end to the Deepening Conflict in the Middle East. I spoke to one woman who said she had Family Members who had been killed in gaza. People felt helplessness at the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The march started two miles from here in Russell Square and it took about 40 minutes to get here at whitehall where there are a number of Government buildings. People gave speeches, including the former labour leaderjeremy corbyn, among other people who gave speeches. There were british palestinians and british lebanese voices who are giving speeches. There have been a large Police Presence throughout the day while the march is taking place, you could hear helicopters above and hundreds of officers were on the ground policing the march. Getting some fresh pictures from the Place Mac Syria border. This is the area of the crossing, the Big Civilian Crossing, the Big Civilian Crossing between lebanon and syria. Not everybody able to use that one and not everybody has the papers of these ares to get across but what we have seen here in the last two weeks or so, since the israeli Air Strike started and the Evacuation Orders began, a lot of syrian refugees who fled the Civil War in syria and came across into lebanon are now trying to Go back again to escape the escalating fighting. These are some new images of people on both sides of the crossing. It was closed yesterday after an israeli Air Strike hit the road near the crossing. These pictures appear to show people crossing over. It looks possible that crossing has been re established today. People are walking on that road around that he crossing. Key crossing. It speaks to the Scale And Size of the Displacement Crisis in lebanon at the moment and also says a lot about the fears and concerns of people here when you look at those syrians who left the Civil War in their own country and are now making that decision to Go back again, feeling they will be safer than they are staying here in lebanon at the moment. As we were saying through the day to day, through the afternoon, we have seen more israeli Air Strikes on different parts of the capital. It is darker now and when we get into the overnight and early hours into the morning, you get these new idf warnings buildings and areas in the southern suburbs and people who live here. I can speak to that as well. At the moment you see and hear overnight often very intense strikes right in the heart of the capital. What is everyDay Life like in lebanon . For example, are shops open . Can people easily get food, for example . Tt can people easily get food, for examle . ~ , can people easily get food, for example . Example . It keeps changing, that is an example . It keeps changing, that is an interesting that is an interesting question. Sometimes we talk not about The Big Picture and the day to Day Life and how people are coping and how people are coping is every bit important. When it was really quiet was last weekend in the couple of days after the huge Air Strike that killed the leader of hezbollah, hassan nasrallah, and even in the busier part of the city it was very close to eight quiet, many businesses, shops, cafe is closed down. They were noticeably quieter. You see a lot of displaced people in the capital but things are slightly starting to reopen again. Interestingly the Air Strikes are continuing but it shows that air and flow. People are used toward here, they have seen it before and consider themselves resilient but it is a day changing picture. They are used to people are used to war here. Thank you, anna. To the United States now.
