So all this now needs is primarily gratification and i am told that can happen pretty quickly as well. The uk chancellor, Rachel Reeves has used her first Labour Conference Speech since The General election to promise that therell be no return to austerity. First and foremost she was setting out her vision for britain and how exactly we will achieve the growth that we were clear was our number one mission going into The General election and in this how we will find our public services and to raise living standards for everyone in every corner of the country. It was fantastic to see the warm reception she had in the room, there were some key commitments she is already following through on, getting money back from the Covid Corruption in the previous government squandered needlessly. Recruiting those tax collectors, hmrc to recruit the money that people are shamelessly dodging in tax and the really important one that will make a real difference for the lives of young people across the country, the schools that will be adopting free Breakfast Clubs early next year, real progress, very early on in this Labour Government and it was fantastic to see her setting the house so confidently. Bbc news has obtained the figures ahead of a ban which comes into Force Tomorrow on possessing Zombie Style knives and machetes. 0ur Correspondent Dan Johnson has more details. So in the six years that ive been collecting weapons in an amnesty, ive personally seen that the weapons are getting bigger. From lock knives, were getting more to the type of zk and Zombie Style knives, like 15 inches upwards. Faron was almost stabbed to death twice. Now hes taking weapons from teenage hands. I get calls from all around the uk, about three or four a day right now. Really, every day . Yeah, every day. A young man in luton wants to hand over a machete. All right, bruv, are you good . A 20 year old whos carried knives since childhood. I got a Rumble Knife when i was about 16. Thats the most common knife, in my opinion. Why would you have something like that . Everyone walks around with them to look after themselves, really. They feel like they need to, theyre scared. A lot of people get chopped up, people get hurt. Where are they getting the weapons . Its such a normal thing. You can get them off friends, online. Its so easy to get a knife. You can get it delivered to your house like a takeaway. Why is it getting worse . If youve got a bigger weapon, youve got more of a chance. If my knife is bigger, im going to win. If youve got a Flick Knife and someone pulls out a rumble on you, youre going to think, why dont i get a bigger one, you know what i mean . Weve discovered the number of swords, machetes and Zombie Knives logged by the police has almost doubled in five years, to more than 14,000. And theyre being used in violent crimes, robberies, assaults, public order offences, stalking and harassment. And last year, 23 people were killed using one of those bigger weapons. He had no enemies. He didnt do anything wrong, didnt carry a knife. Ronan kandas familys felt the worst impact. He was mistaken for someone else and attacked by two teenagers with swords they had bought online. I am shocked that they were available when this happened to my child, and im more shocked that they are still continuing to be available after what happened to ronan. Its about the culture that surrounds the sale of machetes, Zombie Knives and swords. Its not even just a weapon, its a fashion piece. Its so accessible and cheap. Faron sees it Day In, day out. That was from a young person. How old . 15, 16 . There are just loads. He hands the weapons to police, or drops them into knife bins. But theres a problem. Itjust wont go in. It just wont fit . Itjust wont go in, look. So whats your only option with that now . This would have to be physically taken to the Police Station and given in over the counter. Its symbolic of the growing challenge. The biggest threat i see is the online space. The law has also struggled to keep up. Manufacturers have quite cleverly got around the design. Like everything, laws are iterative. They have to adapt. And of course, it needed to change. Why will this ban be any different . Well, it will have an impact. I cant say it will be the end of the issue, because it clearly wont. This ban is complex. The swords used to Kill Ronan Kanda are not covered. How many more lives have to go before they can ban these weapons . The ban means farons days are getting longer. Hes back from another late night collection. All these knives are from one person. How old was the person who had these . I believe he was 18. These are the kind of knives that young people are drawn to and that they are buying. The governments now reviewing online sales of these weapons. It describes Knife Crime as an epidemic. A Bbc Investigation has revealed that dozens of tesco products that are price matched to aldi such as chicken nuggets, Cottage Pie and Blackcurrant Squash are not in fact like for like. The Panorama Programme found that in some cases the product being compared contained much less of the main ingredient than its aldi equivalent. Louisa pilbeam reports. One way supermarkets offer value for money is promising to match some prices to discounters like aldi and lidl. Morrisons is one of the stores offering a price match campaign. For example, a typical Morrisons Superstore stocks about 24,000 products. But Bbc Panorama found that in morrisons, fewer than 300 items were available in their Aldi Price Match campaign. You see the Ad Campaign saying were Price Matching and you assume that is going to be across the board or at least across the majority of products. And when you look at how few it actually applies to, it can be quite eye opening. Morrisons says it never implied that their Price Matching was on tens of thousands of products, and the promotion covered over 200 cupboard staples, and it was adding another 70 soon. Ive been on the lookout for the chicken in these nuggets. I Cant Find that much, but maybe you can help me. The investigation also looked at the ingredients in some of the price matched products. Panorama compared 122 tesco food Products Price matched to aldi where the ingredients were listed. 12 had five percentage points more of the main ingredient than the aldi product. But 37 of them had at least five percentage points less. One example of this is chicken nuggets. While aldis contain 60 chicken breast, the tesco ones only had 39 . Thats what we class as value engineering. So if you think of the ingredients, maybe, of a lasagne, therell be some dairy, some pasta, but probably the most expensive is always going to be the meat element. Well, if you can perhaps change the meat quantity, that will lessen that price. Its only when you flip it over and look at that tiny, tiny Font Size to see youre not getting the same deal. Tesco says it has clear processes to ensure hundreds of products are comparable with those sold at aldi. It says a higher proportion of any one ingredient doesnt necessarily mean its better quality. Louisa pilbeam, bbc news. You can see more on this in Panorama Supermarket deals how good are they . Tonight at eight oclock on Bbc One and available now on iplayer. Parts of central and sudden Southern England have been struck by flash floods, amber and yellow Weather Warnings remain in place for large areas of england and parts of wales until later tonight. Some schools were closed for the day and firefighters in different parts of the country have been called out to free people trapped in their cars. That is it from the programme today. We will have more in a moment or two here on bbc news. From lebanon after the deadliest Day In more than 20 years. Plenty more on the website and see you at the same time tomorrow. Hello. Heavy rain over the past 48 hours has led to some significant and fairly widespread flooding, particularly across some central and southern parts of england. Heres the radar, which shows where the rain has been falling over recent hours. Weve had a Hook Of Rain Across Northern England and wales thats been quite patchy, but this zone of wet weather has been particularly persistent across Central Southern Parts of england. So theres still an Amber Warning in force until 9 00 this evening for that Heavy Rain likely to lead to a bit more disruption. But the rainfall will start to ease away as we head through the last part of this evening and overnight, too. So theres the low pressure that brought us all that slow moving rainfall, which is going to be clearing away out into the North Sea as we move through tonight. Still another few hours of rain across parts of central and Southern England. Weve also got some wet weather moving in across the North And North east of scotland as well, Turning Breezier here. Most other places staying largely dry overnight. Just a bit of Drizzly Rain Lingering in the east, i think. Temperatures staying between about eight to 14 in our towns and cities, so were not looking at any frost overnight tonight. So tuesday then a much improved day compared to the past couple of days. Still a few showers around across parts of england, wales and northern ireland. And for scotland, weve got some Rain Thatll sit across the north and the east. Quite breezy here, too. Some sunshine for the South West of scotland. Top temperatures between about ten to 18 degrees north to south, but at least we will have lost the heavy, persistent rain. Although the flooding across parts of central and Southern England will take a few days to recede. A window of dry weather as we move through into the middle of the week. So low pressure out towards the east and down towards the South West, that will throw the next batch of wet weather in from the South West later on wednesday. I think most areas start off on a dry note, could be some early fog patches around later in the day. That rain arrives across parts of Southern England and wales, too. But before it gets there, sunny spells not particularly warm ten to 16 for most of us. Slightly milder air down towards the Channel Islands and the far southwest behind that area of rain. But that rain pushes its way north overnight Wednesday Night and on into thursday, so it could be quite persistent again on thursday and falling on areas where weve seen a lot of rainfall recently, so some saturated ground could be a few more flooding issues as we look towards the end of the week. So thursday, a pretty wet, blustery sort of day again, not particularly warm, 11 to 17 degrees. And then towards the end of the week, so friday and into saturday, it looks like things turn a little bit quieter and drier, but also cooler, too.
