the quarter finals, after the greek ninth seed beat matteo arnaldi in four sets. he didn't beat me, yeah. so the matches that we've played — i won all of them. so that's what i wanted to mean when i said that they have the key against him. i know when stefanos is playing great, but i know technically what i have to do in the match. jannik sinner survived a scare to book his place in the quarterfinals. he lost the opening set against home favourite corentin moutet — but the second seed fought back to win in four, and will play grigor dimitrov next — who's reached the last eight for the first time in his career at the age of 33. well, it has been a busy day of action with no rain finally, and the tournament climax getting nearer. earlier, we spoke to our tennis correspondent who says it'll take something special to stop alcaraz and swiatek in both draws. i think he mightjust be my man to beat. jannik sinner would be the other one, and, despite the late finish we saw last night, we saw signs that novak djokovic*s game is improving quite dramatically just when there's a grand slam on the line. so those are the three obvious names. alcaraz had a problem with his right forearm coming into the french open, as sinner had with his hip. but they've both made a good start, and alcaraz won very easily against ogier today. there was an injury problem for the canadian midway through the second set, but alcaraz was in complete control and he's delighted with the progress he's made over the first four rounds. and, in the case of iga swiatek, 6—0, 6—0 against anastasia potapova, who is the world number 41. potapova won just ten points, and the match lasted a0 minutes — the quickest professional win of swiatek*s career, we are told. so under demolition and started with a win, thanks to an excellent performance from aaron jones. he hit an unbeaten 94 offjust a0 balls, as usa chased down their target of 195 with seven wickets in hand, and more than two overs to spare. especially because america is not really a cricketing country, i wanted to win the first game of the tournament against canada. and we did that. we have some great players, to be honest with you, and we just want to keep winning as much as possible. of course we can't win every single game for the rest of our lives, but we want to win as many games as possible and beat as many teams as possible, and really show the world that the usa has great cricketers here in the country. defending champions england get their campaign under way on tuesday, when they face scotland in barbados. harry brook will be pivotal to england's chances of them successfully defending their title — he's back in the squad after taking time away from cricket to grieve for his grandmother, who passed away this summer. awesome to be back with england, and i really enjoyed my little stint with them, as well. having five games playing with some really close mates, just really trying to enjoy the cricket i was playing. it was nice to have a bit of a break — obviously not under great circumstances — but it was nice to get away from cricket for a while and concentrate on the family at that time, and then come back and play for for yorkshire. i was just raring to get back playing, to be honest, i was really looking forward to it. so yeah, it's good to be back here with this group of lads. let's have a quick look at some of the other stories making the headlines today. england goalkeeper mary earps will miss their euro qualifier against france on tuesday, after withdrawing from being sacked by roma, jose mourinho is back in the managerial dugout. he's been announced as the new head coach of fenerbahce. mourinho arrives at the club one week after they missed out on the turkish league title to galatasaray — despite having a points tally of 99, and losing only one league game all season. normally, a coach is loved after victories. in this case, i feel that i am loved before victories. and that for me is a big responsibility, it's a big responsibility that i feel. and i promise you that from this moment, i belong to your family. this shirt is my skin. cheering well, these have been the scenes in spain — asjose mourinho*s former club, real madrid, enjoyed an open—top bus parade following their champions league final success last night, after beating borussia dortmund 2—0 to secure a record—extending 15th european trophy. winning that champions league trophy with real madrid completes a remarkable debut season with the spanish club forjude bellingham, who was voted la liga's player of the season after scoring 23 goals. now he'lljoin up with the england squad, ahead of the euros this summer. to join the biggest club in the world and perform in the way he has throughout the season has been an incredible — incredible yearfor him. i'm absolutely delighted for him. for him to cap that season with winning a champions league has been a phenomenal year for him, absolutely delighted for him. to golf — and yuka saso has won the us women's open for the second time. the 22—year—old, who held both japanese and filipino citizenship, andrea lee, with a final round of 68, two under par. and it's been a day to remember, too, for scotland's robert mcintyre — who's won his first pga tour title. macintyre finished on 16 under par overall — a shot clear of his nearest rival american, benjamin griffin. macintyre's success was made even sweeter by having his father, bob, as his stand in caddie. that's it from us. you can get all the latest sports news at from the bbc sport app, orfrom our website. but from everybody here on the team, that's it for now, bye—bye. hello there. we saw some pretty decent weather over the weekend. saturday, scotland, northern ireland saw the warmth and the sunshine. it was england and wales on sunday which saw temperatures reach 2a celsius in a few locations. this upcoming week, though, will be rather disappointing for many. it'll turn a lot cooler for earlyjune — sunshine and showers, and nights will become chilly. gardeners and growers, do beware, could see a touch of frost at night from tuesday onwards. now, this area of high pressure, which brought the fine weather at the weekend, just retreating back out towards the atlantic, allowing some weather fronts to start to work their way down from the north. one such weather front will bring quite a bit of cloud across the country through the day — holes appearing in it, some sunny spells here and there, spots of rain over some western hills. best of the sunshine across northern scotland, but there'll be maybe a few showers across the north. quite blustery here, and turning cool already — but top temperatures, 19—20 celsius in the warmest spots elsewhere. as we move through monday night, we see the cloud coming and going, there will be some clearer spells. a few spots of rain just pushing into the northwest of the country — that's a sign of things to come. and most places will be fairly mild. but it's all change tuesday onwards, these cold fronts will bring outbreaks of heavy rain, some heavy showers — and behind it, that colder, arctic air spills its way southwards across the whole country through tuesday and wednesday, and hangs around for the rest of the week. so we could see some heavy, maybe thundery showers across the northern half of the uk. some wintriness over the high ground, some hail mixed in, a few showers getting into england and wales, and it'll also be quite blustery. there will be sunshine in between, but it's a much cooler air mass — the low—to—mid—teens in the north, could just make 19—20 celsius in the warmest spots across the southeast. a bit cooler still for all areas on wednesday. further showers across the northern half of the country, the odd one just getting into the midlands and perhaps eastern england. but tending to stay dry here — top temperatures, 17—18 celsius, 10—14 celsius across the north of the country with these heavy showers, which will be blustery at times. little change as we head into thursday and friday. that area of low pressure sits to the north of the uk, feeding in this cool northwesterly breeze with plenty of showers, mainly to the northern half of the country. and that's how it looks to end the week, and indeed, into next weekend, where it will remain quite cool. further showers here, best of any dry and bright weather will be towards the south. but pretty disappointing temperatures at the time of year. live from
