Parents feeling as they and their child were burning alive. The painful screaming of the love of their life was the last thing they heard, the last thing. Do you not think its unbelievable that this resolution here today and this session are not solely focused on the hamas atrocities . When reading this resolution, hamas seems to be missing in action. The drafters of the resolution claim to be concerned about peace, yet the depraved murderers who initiated this war are not even mentioned in the resolution, not even mentioned. They see each one of you as puppets. They write a resolution completely devoid of any content related to the situation. They assume that you have already forgotten who it is that is responsible for the inhumane violence, and ijust expect you to support it automatically. This resolution is a disgrace to your intelligence, a disgrace. They just expect you. Its unfathomable that this resolution, one that doesnt even mention hamas, could possibly be voted on here. Let that sink in, please. Distinguished representatives, hamas carried out atrocities the likes of which we have not seen since the holocaust. Yet unlike the holocaust, where the evidence we have is mostly black and white photographs, and soundless footage, here the proof is in high definition, because some of it is from, yes, security footage, but much of it is from the cell phones and gopro cameras belonging to the hamas nazis themselves. Many may be asking why did they film their sadistic violence . Well, i will tell you why, its very simple. They filmed it in order to terrorise the israeli public, to release these videos and put fear in the hearts of the citizens of israel. By the way, this is what terrorists do, they terrorise. I have seen much footage over the past weeks that will be seared into my mind forever. But there is one site i keep on seeing when i try to sleep. In the video one can see a terrible injured civilian, bloodied yet alive, laying on the ground as a hamas savage screams repeatedly, pummelling a mans neck with a garden hoe in order to decapitate him. The man on the ground is an agricultural worker from thailand. He is not israeli, he is notjewish, he was merely alive, trying to make a living for his family, but he was decapitated with a blunt gardening tool. Horrifying. Israel is not at war with human beings. We are at war with monsters. Here is the video. Shouting studio we will come away from the Un General Assembly and the israeli ambassador. Before that we heard from the palestinian representative. Listening to all of that is our correspondent nada tawfik. You got a sense from both the israelis and palestinian before that, just how polarised the situation is, even after three weeks of this. After three weeks of this. Yes, absolutely after three weeks of this. Yes, absolutely. Keeping after three weeks of this. Yes, absolutely. Keeping in after three weeks of this. Yes, absolutely. Keeping in mind i after three weeks of this. 123 absolutely. Keeping in mind the Un Security Council has failed to act on this and it has now moved to the Un General Assembly where they are going to be after these speeches tomorrow voting on a Draft Resolution put forward byjordan, which calls for a ceasefire. But that was certainly a very emotional speech by the Palestinian Ambassador to the general assembly, point blank asking them why is there so much pain for israelis and so little pain for palestinians. He said, do we have the wrong faith, the wrong origin or the wrong skin colour . He was urging the International Community to stop the violence and bombing. He said if it was not for those who have already passed away in gaza, those lives they can already save. He said it was all about making sure the un was standing for the principles it was formed on, to protect international law. He says the survival of the un depends on how they act in this vote. He again appealed, save lives, save lives, vote for our Draft Resolution. He made it clear that there was nothing to justify the killing of israelis by palestinians, nothing to justify the killing of palestinians by israelis. He said there has to be, to avoid vengeance in this moment, there has to be clear calls for peace. It was quite an emotional speech as he talked about the 2. 3 million civilians in gaza, that they have nowhere safe to 90, gaza, that they have nowhere safe to go, they have seen their neighbourhoods completely flattened, whole generations of families wiped out. And then we heard from the israeli ambassador saying that in his Point Of View this has nothing to do with the wider Palestinian Israeli issue. He said this was all about october seven and what happened there. He said that was a massacre, nothing to do with palestinians. He says the rela solution put forward doesnt name hamas directly. He says the resolution. He says that is hypocritical, he says those there in the Chamber Cannot Support such a resolution because it doesnt make the point that this latest situation was down to what happened on october seven. An incredibly emotionalfew speeches in the Un General Assembly. We will start to hear from the broader un membership but this will last even longer than today as 106 nations make their views clear on what we are seeing happen in the middle east. What we are seeing happen in the middle east what we are seeing happen in the middle east. ,. ,. , ~. , middle east. Nada tawfik at the un. Thank ou. Middle east. Nada tawfik at the un. You got a Sense Listening over the last three quarters of an hour of the Auto Deadlock in the two positions. And of course, all the while on the ground the situation deteriorates. Very powerful speeches coming out of the United Nations general assembly. Its interesting they are now meeting after several failed attempts at the Un Security Council, which is of course the worlds top table, for them to agree on anything. Last night The Americans put forward a proposal for what they called a pause, they agree with this row, there should not be a ceasefire. A rival proposalfrom russia to have a humanitarian ceasefire also did not move. And as we hear from ceasefire also did not move. And as we hearfrom nada tawfik, after the speeches at the Un General Assembly, which represents the broader mood across the world, maybe a symbolic motion, is also expected to call for a ceasefire. Israel will not countenance a ceasefire. I have heard so many times during this crisis from israeli leaders, israelis who meet in southern israel, saying the reasons why all the Military Operations against hamas in gaza have not worked before is because israeli leaders, under pressure to stop Military Operations before it is done. Lets discuss what are the regional and pressures on israel now what are the pressures on israel now and why it wont agree to those calls which continue to be made around the world, also made by the United Nations aid agencies, it has to be said, why will israel simply not accept them . Paul adams, is this another example of the pressures on israel and it is now focused on what it says is its only objective, to destroy hamas, however they will do it. ~. ,. ,. , it. We have to remember that israels ambition it. We have to remember that israels ambition this it. We have to remember that israels ambition this time it. There you see pictures, bring our loved ones home, those people gathered there today. They also say time is running out to the israeli prime minister. They believe he is just not doing enough. I think we can hear people being told to go to the bomb shelter, yet another, bring ourFamily Members back home. Earlier they went into a bomb shelter. The agony and anger of families, the loved ones of hostages. We will continue to follow all the developments here in israel, in the gaza strip, and in all the capital is being drawn into this crisis. Lets be clear, we are not sending in large quantities of flour etc. We are sending in Emergency Rations for people who are hungry right now to eat that do not take cooking. Thats important, they are high in calories and protein and energy. That is what is needed right now. We need some prioritisation with regards trucks on the ground and that is not happening. We would like to see a better logistics setup, a better way of getting our trucks into make sure they are safe and sustained. And sustained. What is impact of fuel running and sustained. It also comes down to trucks, being able to deliver further into gaza some with smaller sized trucks. We dont have any fuel, we cant do it. We do not bring in fuel, that is left to other organisations to do. We would certainly like the egyptians and israelis both to at least allow fuel access in there, to be able to run a humanitarian operation. With me now is noam ostfeld who previously worked for the Israel Defence force Intelligence Wing and is now a middle east analyst at the Risk Assessment company sibylline. Thank you for being with us on bbc news. Lets talk about the overnight targeted raids, as they are being described. Explain first of all what the Israeli Military is trying to achieve. ~. ,. , the Israeli Military is trying to achieve. ,. , , achieve. What we are seeing here is basically the achieve. What we are seeing here is basically the military, achieve. What we are seeing here is basically the military, the achieve. What we are seeing here is basically the military, the idf, basically the military, the idf, going into gaza, small raids to open up going into gaza, small raids to open up an operational area, to open up roads for the military to later go in. Thats part of the preparation. Its likely the idf is looking to gain more intelligence about the environment, how their structures are going around, how Hamas Terrorists are going to respond to the idf getting inside gaza and to basically gain more operational control in the area. This basically gain more operational control in the area. Basically gain more operational control in the area. This is being seen as a control in the area. This is being seen as a precursor control in the area. This is being seen as a Precursor For Control in the area. This is being seen as a precursor for the control in the area. This is being l seen as a precursor for the ground invasion. Why do you think the full invasion. Why do you think the full invasion has not happened yet . There are several reasons invasion has not happened yet . There are several reasons for invasion has not happened yet . There are several reasons for that. Invasion has not happened yet . Liver are several reasons for that. There are several reasons for that. There are political, diplomatic and military reasons. Looking at the military, we have seen a lot of criticism from the military side to the political leadership. But we are still seeing preparation. If you are comparing it to 2014, i think there we saw a Fast Incursion Into Gaza but we also saw a lot of criticism about how the military, the idf, is getting stuck in there. Because getting stuck in there. Because getting to do Ground Operations in gaza, in the urban areas and the tunnels we have, it is very difficult, challenging, and they expect a lot of casualties. In terms of the military preparation, the more preparation we have the better it is. If you are looking at the political side, it is. If you are looking at the politicalside, hamas it is. If you are looking at the political side, hamas is slowly releasing hostages and this is splitting the Israeli Society for top splitting the Public Pressure in israel. The moment idf enters gaza, the likelihood for a big release of a lot of hostages is going down. We had on the screen momentarily, and we can put the pictures up again, they came from hamas videos, but they came from hamas videos, but they show the tunnel complex. I want to talk about that. That is the risk, with hostages. In terms of within israel, how much differing opinion is there in terms of the approach because of the hostages now . In approach because of the hostages now . ,. , , now . In general we can still see them rallying now . In general we can still see them rallying behind now . In general we can still see them rallying behind a now . In general we can still see them rallying behind a ground i them rallying behind a Ground Operation but we are seeing slowly increasing tensions. In that regard hamas is using its full cards in that regard, putting on International Pressure as well as Public Pressure. However, the problem here hamas is right now the main goal of the idf. Its either that or the hostages because hamas will not release all the hostages without some guarantees of safety. Its a very difficult decision for both sides, whether military or political and in the Israeli Community. Political and in the Israeli Community political and in the israeli communi. , community. Reports also circulating that hamas are community. Reports also circulating that hamas are linking community. Reports also circulating that hamas are linking it community. Reports also circulating that hamas are linking it to community. Reports also circulating that hamas are linking it to the that hamas are linking it to the whole issue of fuel in terms of any potential release of hostages. In terms of the pictures we have seen, the idf say they are targeting hamas always and hamas are using human shields, but you can see the mounting casualties, the children. At what stage does it happen that the idf, the Israeli Military and politicians, look at what is happening and perhaps reconsider . Its a difficult question because every time, we saw until now rounds of operations into gaza for years now, on and off, and basically the cycle of death is continuing, both on Israeli Citizens and guards and citizens. I think until now there was an international forum, citizens. I think until now there was an internationalforum, an operation going on. And gaza citizens. But later, either getting to the same situation again, hamas terrorism, harming civilians in israel and then leading to under do an operation and again people are dying. I think yesterday there is no return to the status quo after october the 7th, that was said yesterday. We october the 7th, that was said yesterday october the 7th, that was said esterda. ~. ,. ,. , yesterday. We have reached this section of the yesterday. We have reached this section of the programme yesterday. We have reached this section of the programme but i yesterday. We have reached this section of the programme but thank you for coming in to go through some of that. We have just seen from pictures, another demonstration happening in tel aviv from the families of hostages. We will have more on that in a while. The headlines sent main developments coming up. Hello there. Its been a very wet october for some of us, not for all of us, but especially wet across central and eastern areas of england, and particularly for eastern scotland. Now, low pressure is out towards the west of the uk on thursday. Its not really moving anywhere over the next few days, so again, it stays unsettled for the end of october. There will be heavy showers, longer spells of rain and once more, it is looking particularly wet for eastern scotland. In fact, there are still met Office Weather warnings in place for eastern scotland, valid until sunday. The Rainfall Totals are once again likely to stack up here, as you can see on our rainfall accumulation chart. And of course, that rain is going to be falling on already very saturated ground. This is the picture in aberdeenshire today. The rain feeding through on a south easterly wind, but it is not raining everywhere. There is some sunshine around, it is best out towards the south and west, but expect some heavy showers here, and possibly one or two heavy showers across the isle of wight. Again, falling on saturated ground, but it is certainly a drier day here than yesterday. The heaviest of the rain here across the afternoon in eastern areas of england, particularly the north and the southeast scotland. Temperatures once again peaking between 11 and 15 and 16 celsius in the south, just slightly above the seasonal average. Overnight tonight, we will still see some outbreaks of rain across North Eastern areas of england, this front very slow moving, again, that rain into eastern scotland. Elsewhere, some clear spells, a few showers, we could see some mist and fog patches forming, particularly across central and southern england, temperatures down to between seven and nine celsius. So, a frost free start to friday, when again not a lot is set to change. Weve still got low pressure out towards the west, these showers spiralling around it, some of the showers could be heavy and thundery in nature. Again, we still got this south easterly wind feeding those showers through into eastern scotland. More showers moving in from the southwest, further south, but also some sunny intervals as well. Temperatures once again between 10 and 15 celsius for most of us. Things could start to change a little as we head into saturday. Still plenty of wet weather around, heavy, thundery showers towards the south, and this will turn into heavy, more persistent rain, i think, just pushing into the south of england as we head through the afternoon, especially into the evening. So, there are localised Weather Warnings in force here. That heavy rain is likely to be further north as we head through Saturday Night and into sunday. So staying very unsettled
