As soon as we have further detail we will bring it to you here in bbc news. Within the hour we have had news of an air strike within the hour we have had news of an airstrike on. Within the hour we have had news of an air strike on. Damage to the vital road between gaza and egypt. The United Nations says israels total siege of gaza, cutting off fuel, food and electricity supplies is causing a deepening humanitarian crisis. With hospitals close to complete collapse, it threatens thousands of lives. Meanwhile thousands of those palestinians whove left their homes, hoping to cross into egypt, have been left bitterly disappointed, with the crossing still closed. Jeremy bowen is in southern israel. Another war, of words, has started over who is responsible for the suffering of Palestinian Civilians in gaza. Israel is dropping the bombs. It says blame hamas for killing and kidnapping and, says israel, hiding behind civilians. Gazans crowded into un schools after israel told them to move south towards the egyptian border. They are supposed to be protected by the laws of war. America has felt it necessary to deliver repeated reminders of that to israel, along with military aid. This grandmother blames israel, then speaks of tragedy, hunger, death, fear, horror and destruction. In rafah, at the closed border with egypt, palestinians with foreign passports are hoping to get out, to escape the pressure israel has imposed on civilians, despite its legal obligations. You cannot ask people to move out of harms way without assisting them to do it, to go to places of their choice where they want to be safe and where the humanitarian aid that they need to make that journey safely. And right now, the movement that has happened has not had those provisions. Antony blinken, us secretary of state, returned to israel after a rapid tour of americas arab allies. The us is giving israel all the military aid it wants. But it is trying to stop the war spreading. Injerusalem in the parliament, Benjamin Netanyahu, israels Prime Minister, delivered another warning. He told iran and its lebanese ally hezbollah not to test israel. Ehud olmert, Prime Minister when israel last fought hezbollah, in 2006, was scathing about mr netanyahu for Mishandling Relations with the palestinians, for weakening the rivals of hamas, and said israel should have two objectives. One is to fight hamas. The other is to recognise the Palestinian Authority and try and uplift the Palestinian Authority and start negotiating with them and say, there is a horizon of peace after war. In israel, there is unity about fighting hamas. The argument is about why hamas could break through israels defences, and how to deliver israelis and palestinians from another generation of bloodshed. Jeremy bowen, bbc news, southern israel. Very earlier i spoke to our correspondent rushdi abu alouf, who is in the city of khan younis, in the Southern Area of the gaza strip who gave me the latest on the rafah airstrike. Yeah, i have seen fresh footage. Cctv camera from inside the palestinian terminal of rafah crossing. There is some damage to the external hole of the crossing, but also there is damage to the road that lead from the palestinian side to the egyptian side. The damage isnt great and can be fixable easily. If the egyptian decided to hope to reopen the crossing and allow those with dual nationality to cross into egypt. When we talk about bringing in aid, we are talking about the commercial side of the crossing, which is close to the to the terminal. And its not damaged. I mean, now the point is stuck into is there is a deal or no deal for now. No deal. There is some talks, diplomacy, Big Diplomacy Everywhere in doha and egypt, The Americans and israel. But so far, as far as i remember today, i have been talking to many, many parties. And all of them said that negotiation is moving very slowly, but there is no progress to reopen the rafah crossing, which i think for The Americans, they want their citizens out, but for the 2. 4 Million People, they want something more important, which is food, medicine, fuel. Because as i am standing in this hospital, khan yunis hospital, this is the main hospital now that is providing services for 1. 2 Million People. The only hospital they said they will run out, the hospital will be out of service by tomorrow, midnight, because they dont have fuel and they dont have medicine and they dont have any facility to run the hospital. Thats our correspondent in gaza on thats our correspondent in gaza on that worsening situation there. That crossing is a key exit and entry point for people wanting to leave gaza and also for aid to make its way from egypt into gaza to get to the people that need it. So well keep an eye on any further developments right there. Let me just take you to the United States because turning to the us 7 where in the state of illinois, a man has been charged with murder and hate crimes 7 a six year7old muslim boy and severely injuring his mother. The boys father identified the victims as palestinian7americans. Police say 71 year7 Old Joseph Czuba was the victims landlord, and that he targeted the victims because they were muslim. They allege he was motivated by the israel . Hamas war. Referring to when the president claimed that he said pictures of beheaded babies by hamas, before the white house had to clarify the statement. I white house had to clarify the statement white house had to clarify the statement. ,. ,. , statement. I ust want to tell the whole world statement. I just want to tell the whole world that statement. I just want to tell the whole world that we statement. I just want to tell the whole world that we live statement. I just want to tell the whole world that we live in statement. I just want to tell the whole world that we live in a whole world that we live in a country called the usa. We are not in war. And we are not bringing war here, too. What happened that day for a gentleman that he loved that kid, to start with. Used to bring him toys. And to hear on the news from our president that he saw, he is seen some pictures and actually that was not true. The congress came out and united. The reporter herself, she denied it. The soldiers themselves said we did not see. This gentleman heard it. And that was in his mind. And the only thing he saw, he saw that kid and his mum. We. We received some calls. They said we have been exaggerating. Now i want to ask anybody here, a 71 year old man sitting on top of a six year old kid, stabbing him more than 26 times, and he was looking in his eyes. You tell me. It is not an exaggeration . 50 eyes. You tell me. It is not an exaggeration . Eyes. You tell me. It is not an exaggeration . So that they are a ress exaggeration . So that they are a Press Conference exaggeration . So that they are a Press Conference given exaggeration . So that they are a Press Conference given by exaggeration . So that they are a Press Conference given by the I Exaggeration . So that they are a i Press Conference given by the uncle of the family. And well keep a close eye on events there, and thats the situation in the United States, but what i want to do is return to events in the middle east because we know that humanitarian situation getting worse by the hour, a lack of access to water, to power, to medicine, to aid and to food quite crucially as many people made their way from the north of gaza to their way from the north of gaza to the south, very difficult of course for aid to get in, and they aid workers who are there say that it is very difficult and very unsafe. While a little earlier i spoke to i spoke earlier with Enass Abu7khalaf 7 who works for Medecins Sans Frontieres covering the middle east north africa. Heres what she said on the growing need for aid in gaza. I mean, the situation in gaza today as witnessed by msf teams on the ground, but also from a very fundamental humanitarian perspective, is catastrophic, to say the least. Its deteriorating, as you just mentioned. And and this is absolutely unacceptable for us as a medical humanitarian organisation operating in gaza for the last 23 years. I mean, what were seeing today is unlike anything weve seen in the past years. Thousands of buildings and civilian areas have been bombed without any distinction between densely populated neighbourhoods and other targets. Lets remember here that we talk about the worlds one of the worlds most densely Populated Areas on earth, with more than two Million People, including children, women, elderly people, mass casualties. And the hospitals that we support in gaza, unlike anything weve seen in the past. The Health System in gaza today is on its knees, literally on its knees with the power cut, food cuts and the lack of medicine. What remains operational from hospitals in gaza is unlikely to to run out of operational capacity. And that really places big concerns over babies and incubators when we talk about fuel running out and also extremely sick and wounded people on Life Support Machines and Intensive Care care units, the Sewage System is about to flow in gaza and that also places additional rests on of of outbreaks on top of that makes the situation additional rests of outbreaks on top of that makes the situation even worse is the fact that israel today is dragging Health Facilities health staff into the battlefields, and that is an extreme violation for the International Humanitarian law, including the Un Security Council resolution 2286, of which msf was part of draughting it. And in theory, it should extend protection to private medical organisations like msf. And this is not the case on ground today in gaza. Our teams spent nights outside the streets next to our patients with very close proximity to bombings in the hospital and in jabalya. Yes, msf clinics in gaza city were bombed. So so were calling upon the International Community to step up and take immediate actions and pressure israel to show humanity and stop bombarding civilians. What were witnessing today is a collective punishment for more than two Million People, and our medical staff are reporting extreme decrease in drinking water. They spent two hours looking for drinking water. And and we think thats, yeah, i mean, lifting and humanitarian aid lifting and medical staff inside gaza. Im just interested and im sorry to interrupt, because time is tired. I just want to get your assessment from what youre hearing from your teams on the ground right now about whether there are any safe places at all within gaza right now and thinking for civilians, but also for your staff who are working there today. Msf has more than 300 staff inside gaza and honestly, there is no safe place in gaza today. And we think that, you know, pushing more than one Million People from the north of gaza to the south, which is no safe haven, is absolutely an outrageous move because simply there is no safe place in gaza today. Our colleagues in the hospitals, they bring in their families to seek refuge. They sleep on corridors. And this is really a catastrophic situation because simply what is expected to be safe is does not exist in reality today. What is expected to be safe is, does not exist in reality today. No place is safe in gaza today. And we have to highlight really the issue of the extreme lack of drugs down to simple drugs like painkillers. Our patients are shouting because of pain simply because we dont have painkillers for them. So its to this point, the situation is catastrophic and we think that the worst is yet to come. If we dont really allow a space for humanitarian interventions, and medical staff like msf and others are unable to assist the needs and to be able to assist the needs means that we need safety to really move around, to really provide assistance as soon as possible. A verdict on that worsening humanitarian situation there. Well talk more about that in a moment, but around the world and across the uk youre watching bbc news. Lets look at some other stories making news. Further School Strikes are due to take place in scotland after a union voted to reject the latest pay offer for support staff. Unison, the union that represents administrators, Catering Assistants and janitors, said a Rolling Programme of strikes in schools and nurseries will take place in the coming weeks, with dates announced within days. Parliaments Behaviour Watchdog has recommended that conservative mp peter bone be suspended for six weeks for bullying and sexual misconduct. A former member of staff had complained about mr bones behaviour, alleging the incident happened more than 10 years ago. The suspension will have to be voted on by the House Of Commons to be approved. More foreign prisoners are to be deported to their home countries under plans to tackle overcrowding injails. Figures show thatjails are approaching full capacity 7 with the number of inmates at an all7time high. Plans could see more caseworkers deployed to speed up the process. Youre live with bbc news. In israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has addressed the countrys parliament 7 the knesset 7 for the First Time Since the hamas attacks. The session began with a Moment Of Silence for the 1a hundred of silence for the 11100 victims of the deadly attacks. But proceedings were disrupted later. This is the moment an israeli lawmaker s address was interrupted by air raid sirens 7 prompting an evacuation and the session to be halted. The Prime Minister addressed the ongoing hostage situation. Mr netanyahu said hed met with families, and listened to their what he described as their tremendous pain. He also explained what the Military Operation is designed to achieve. Translation our goal is victory. A decisive victory on hamas, the collapse of its government and removing its threat on the state of israel once and for all. Danny danon is an israeli mp for the Knesset Party and former Deputy Minster of defense for the country. He was also israels ambassador to the United Nations from 2015 to 2020. Of course as weve been reporting tonight there have been further strikes on the key Access Point In And Out of gaza, i asked him why israel had attacked that point. Israelis kidnapped in gaza, including uk citizens. While we dont speak about at our humanitarian sufferers, why do you only go to the Palestinian Side7 humanitarian sufferers, why do you only go to the palestinian side . We will fight in order to release our prisoners. We will fight in order to save our communities. And basically we will do the best to minimise the suffering of the people of gaza. But once the people of gaza elected that government, which is a hamas government, which is a hamas government, which is worse than isis, capable of burning children alive, which is capable of butchering or net women, when you have such kind of a government, dont come to us and ask us about why its happening. We are not to be blamed that hamas is in charge of gaza today. We blamed that hamas is in charge of gaza today gaza today. We have absolutely covered the gaza today. We have absolutely covered the taking gaza today. We have absolutely covered the taking of gaza today. We have absolutely covered the taking of those covered the taking of those hostages, we have covered it extensively and we have talked about the hamas raid on the Music Festival in the hostages taken last week in. The reason i am asking you about the Border Crossing is it because it is important. That is an exit point and an entry point particularly for aid to get to the people of gaza. 0n the 9th Of October it was bombed by israel he strikes. 0n the 10th Of October it was bombed by Israeli 0ctober it was bombed by israeli strikes. 0n the 12th Of October the Egyptian Government asked you to stop air strikes near the border to allow it to reopen. There are a lot of places, the gaza strip is not one neighbourhood. We actually told the residents of gaza the safe zone for them which is the southern from the gaza river and that area. So them which is the southern from the gaza river and that area. Them which is the southern from the gaza river and that area. So we have just spoken. Gaza river and that area. So we have just spoken. Im gaza river and that area. So we have just spoken, im sorry gaza river and that area. So we have just spoken, im sorry to gaza river and that area. So we have just spoken, im sorry to interrupt i just spoken, im sorry to interrupt but let us talk about our correspondent who was there. The humanitarian crisis there is growing. Hospitals do not have access to medicine, to water, to electricity. They do not have the help that they need. Food is running short. Youve asked people to move from the north of vaasa to avoid the ground invasion. More than one Million People have moved to the south of gaza to do that but they do not have the help they are that they need, and under international obligations, people should be allowed safe passage and access to aid. That aid could come through the rougher crossing, but tonight israel has bombed. Rougher crossing, but tonight israel has bombed. Has bombed. What about international has bombed. What about International Situations has bombed. What about i International Situations about has bombed. What about International Situations about the rights of the israeli who abducted from their homes . If you want to speak about humanity in a crisis, i want to speak about our pain. So there will be no consideration from our side as long as refugee the people are abducted to gaza are sitting there in gaza, hamas will be, under the hand of hamas. And it started coming their way, the rest of the medical team, six people, started to run away, he decided to stay in the medical station and when they found his body, they found him with bandages still in his hands while treating someone, an injured person beneath him and unfortunately it took three days to be able to get to the location of his body because of the fighting. Monday brought us a fairly crisp autumn day with some sunshine, be it a little bit hazy, but its going to be all change. Next day or so, still largely dry with sunny spells and some frost around. But midweek onwards, a real change to increasingly windy weather with some heavy rain as well. And thats all courtesy of our second named storm of the season, storm babet, which has formed close to the canary islands. Its pushing its way now you can see on the Satellite Image towards the bay of biscay. And as we head through the middle of the week, this low Pressure System merging with another one from the atlantic is going to bring increasingly wet and windy weather, especially across parts of scotland. But were all going to be seeing some heavy rain widely between about 30 50 millimetres, but its this zone across central and eastern scotland, you can see on the Rainfall Accumulation Map here, we could see between 150 200 millimetres of rain from wednesday to saturday, enough to cause some flooding issues, therell also be strong winds and big waves, too. Now for the rest of the evening and overnight, then, most of us looking dry, perhaps a few showers close to lincolnshire, norfolk as well. Clearer skies across the northern half of the uk where well see a frost again. But further south, not as cold as last night because weve got more cloud around and slightly milder air too. A bit of rain Tuesday Morning for the likes of cornwall, devon pushing into pembrokeshire as well. Most other areas looking dry. Plenty of sunshine for scotland, northern and Eastern England after any morning mist clears away. Sunny spells for belfast, i think 1a celsius here. But that rain will push across northern ireland. Through into the evening hours and overnight into wednesday, wet weather sweeps up across central parts of scotland, and more showers start to arrive from the south. Itll be a milder night, so temperatures certainly frost free, between about 8 15 celsius, i think, first thing wednesday. So, yes, some mild air with us, but you can see the proximity of the isobars. That means the winds are starting to pick up, and the rain is starting to arrive as well. So wednesday then initially a bit of rain for scotland, looks like well see more rain into parts of southern england. Some of this potentially heavy, could be thundery, and the winds are rotating around that area of low pressure. So gusts widely between about 35 a5mph on wednesday. Itll be a bit milder compared to monday and tuesday, so highs between about 10 celsius in the north, still chilly there, to about 17 celsius towards the south. And then its thursday into friday that we see the persistent, at times heavy rain and the strong winds, which are likely to cause some disruption. Bye bye
