Speaking this morning ahead of the Imf World Bank meeting in marrakesh, ms yellen said washington was monitoring the potential Economic Impact of the escalating conflict. Well, let me say that at this stage, we are focused on human beings that have been affected by these barbaric attacks on israel and the suffering that it has caused. As President Biden said, we stand firmly behind israel and are there to support israel in any way that is necessary. And while we are monitoring potential Economic Impacts from the crisis, im not really thinking of that as a major likely driver of the Global Economic outlook. So we will see what impact it has. Thus far, i dont think we have seen anything suggesting it would be very significant, but of course we are monitoring Economic Impacts, as well. Joining me now is yael selfin, Chief Economist at kpmg uk. At this point the humanitarian but the economic effect will be heard around the world. Janet yellen saying she does not expect an Economic Impact but still early days. Yellow might hopefully the situation, we have seen Energy Prices going up a bit and situation, we have seen Energy Prices going up a bi situation, we have seen Energy Prices going up a bit and we would ro erl prices going up a bit and we would preperly expect prices going up a bit and we would properly expect them prices going up a bit and we would properly expect them to prices going up a bit and we would properly expect them to stay prices going up a bit and we would l properly expect them to stay higher than otherwise as a result of that and then you have the flight to Safe Haven Terms of the implication on markets as a result of it but apart from the fact it will also create Uncertainty Impact on trade and Business Decisions we do not expect a major impact at this stage. It seems to be there are lots of ifs and buts and maybes about how long this goes on and how widespread it may be and if it draws in regional powers such as saudi arabia and iran. It could be instrumental in how the energy price goes. Absolutely at this stage it looks quite localised in terms of the impact and we need to be that in mind so it does not look like a major impact on the World Economy as it stands at the moment. The implications it stands at the moment. The implications therefore what we would hope a relatively muted quite know right now. Israel has been doing pretty well economically this puts a Spotlight Notjust on the administration but the management of the economy. What will it mean domestically for israel . I the economy. What will it mean domestically for israel . The economy. What will it mean domestically for israel . I am not an exert on domestically for israel . I am not an expert on the domestically for israel . I am not an expert on the israeli domestically for israel . I am not an expert on the israeli economy domestically for israel . I am not an expert on the israeli economy but l domestically for israel . I am not an expert on the israeli economy but i | expert on the israeli economy but i can tell you as an economist high techis can tell you as an economist high tech is very linked to Global Investments etc and that will be affected a little. Just in the short term given the uncertainty and the number of the labour force is diverted elsewhere generally that should not have a major impact and other than that other economies will be affected even more to some degree and reform was supposed to happen but they political agenda was focused elsewhere for a long time and it is fair to say the focus has not been necessarily we would have wanted it to be for some time. All flights have been suspended until wednesday afternoon at one of englands busiest airports after a fire caused the partial collapse of a multi storey car park. An eyewitness at luton airport, north of london, reported hearing loud explosions from cars going up in flames and said the fire took hold at incredible speed. Shares in samsung have been trading higher today than was expected peter and janet baron share a passion forfencing, and its a passion they want to pass on. Even before they start their own training the couple from worsley turn up at Stourbridge Fencing Club to help the coaches encourage and develop the next generation. People are singing about football all the time. They dont sing about fencing. So any opportunity we get that we can promote the sport so that theres a lot more young people taking it up, thats so much the better. Its essential that we all help future generations to come through. And as youve seen tonight yourself, how enthusiastic those little children. Eight years on we really enjoy it. Over the next 15 minutes, well be answering questions that youve sent in about the israel Hamas Conflict which has now entered its fourth day. This drone video shows the scale of destuction wreaked across the gaza strip over the past few days. Israels army claims to have hit a further 200 hamas targets in overnight and morning bombing. Israel has ordered a total blockade of gaza, cutting off food, water, and supplies. It wants to show the stability israel somehow leaves despite being surrounded by enemies and an existential crisis, is real sometimes believes. As an entity and a country under state it is no longer really under threat. This was an attempt to shore that was the case and israelis themselves are not safe and we have seen that with the horrific scale of people killed. I think that is the first thing to see. Some will have other ideas stop absolutely right, this is about trying absolutely right, this is about trying to absolutely right, this is about trying to project power. What we have had so far is a lot of maximalist like . What we have had so far is a lot of maximalist rhetoric like . What we have had so far is a lot of maximalist rhetoric from lot of maximalist rhetoric from leaders of the establishment and Benjamin Netanyahu end his rhetoric and has been talk about flying over the gaza strip and there are worries for that that will turn into something more significant. When you get past the rhetoric, once israel sends in Ground Forces youre talking about a reoccupation of gaza israel removed its forces in 2005. You have to go back to 1993 when youre talking about Israeli Forces on the streets of gaza city, an occupation that sense. After such a heavy bombardment it is very hard to see how that works out on the ground and what exactly is the plan and is this about a reoccupation of the gaza strip and a massive bombardment that tries to crush the infrastructure of hamas, its key leaders which i shall try to do militarily but what do
