This morning hezbollah targeted the israeli position behind me on the hill bear, a radar station, firing a number of mortars and artillery back. It released a statement afterwards saying the attack was in solidarity with the palestinians. It was also very narrow and calibrated attack. Because hezbollah is one of the most effective militant organisations in the middle east, it has a huge arsenal of resources. It can strike deep into israel. This was a very calibrated attack, very carefully positioned. Not to lead to escalation, at least at this moment, and since then, we have heard from senior hezbollah official that they will not be neutral in the war. They said the United States and israel must stop or the whole region will become involved. What we know from israel, they are not planning to start because israel is planning what it says will be a long war. A threat, really, ora spoken what it says will be a long war. A threat, really, or a spoken threat from hezbollah that there is a risk of them becoming further enrolled in the conflict with the enormous arsenal that they have if this conflict continues to escalate. find conflict continues to escalate. And the question. Conflict continues to escalate. And the question. I conflict continues to escalate. And the question, i guess, many are asking is, you know, how moore is hezbollah capable of doing in terms of damage . fix, hezbollah capable of doing in terms of damaue . . ,. , of damage . A great deal, if it comes to that. Of damage . A great deal, if it comes to that they of damage . A great deal, if it comes to that. They have. Of damage . A great deal, if it comes to that. They have. We of damage . A great deal, if it comes to that. They have. We know of damage . A great deal, if it comes to that. They have. We know that l to that. They have. We know that they have a great significant supply of long range missiles, notjust of long range missiles, not just here of long range missiles, notjust here at the border, notjust a small israeli radar station, but deep inside israel. Of course, israel will respond. I am, about 55 minutes ago, israel responded and there was an Artillery Strike here on the border of the village. All day, we have heard israeli warplanes and drones in the area, that is not unusualfor drones in the area, that is not unusual for this part of Southern Lebanon, you often hear them here, but certainly an escalation and intention under dissipation. That can be felt here and all over the country. A worry that this country, already deeply troubled, in the middle of a financial crisis, without a president , desperately poor and has a war on the economic crisis will fate yet another issue. That was Quentin Somerville there on the border between lebanon and israel. A little earlier, we brought you sad news, the death of a british man by the attack of hamas. Nathanial young has died. His family know that his girlfriend took his gun out to fight, got hurt but survived. I spoke to our reporter in gaza Rushdi Abualouf a short while ago. I asked him what he knew about the warnings to citizens in gaza to leave their homes. Yeah. We know that many families started to move. But in the last 10 minutes, about 5 to 6 airstrikes just hit the area where the israelis warned residents to leave. And thats, as we expected, the israeli air raid intensify in this area. The israeli army issued a small video directing people to leave this area and go to the city center. And they said we are going to attack hamas, a terrorist group that is attacking israel. Since last night, when israel launched this, a Retaliation Operation in gaza, many areas people were leaving. And we understand from sources in the un that as many as 22,000 people already left their homes and now they are taking shelter in a un school. We have seen this scenario before as gaza fought like four wars or hamas fought four wars with israel in the last 17 years. And gaza, the people in gaza, they dont have any shelter facilities. So people usually what they do, they go to the un school because they believe that you are in a school, is protected by the un. And nobody will hit them there. Also, we noticed that people are going to hospitals for the same reason. Since last night, until now, we understand from security sources that about 280 targets have been hit by israel. Most of them belong to hamas militants. They had tanks, they had military facilities, military infrastructure, even some police checkpoints, some police stations. A hamas bank was hit. Buildings, high buildings were hit this morning. I have been in the Gaza City Center where like 11 Storey Building was completely destroyed and razed to the ground. The main road for the Gaza Downtown was closed for about two or 3 hours. And the situation, the humanitarian situation seems to be getting worse and worse with the israel cutting 80 of the Electricity Supplies into gaza. And already most of the Internet Lines are not working since yesterday. Whats the feeling now amongst people who are in gaza who are trying to find shelter . How much fear is there of more to come from israel . Yes, of course. I mean, people have a mixed feeling about whats going on. Yesterday, there was some sense ofjoy. People were like celebrating, praising hamas fighters who in there, who the palestinians, majority of the palestinian in gaza believed that they were revenge by israel. The israeli action in the west bank, in Al Aqsa Mosque and also in gaza, they were like welcoming what hamas did. But in the other hand, today they started to feel the reality that its a war. And war, people in this poor, Densely Populated place, they knew well what what war would mean for them. Back in 2014, there was a war for about 50 days. And now with the Electricity Supplies not working, internet, israel shut all of the border around gaza and there is a fear of very soon we will have some sort of serious humanitarian crisis a food and medicine and electricity, like dont come to this 2. 3 Million People here. Yes. Live pictures now coming into us from gaza city. We can see huge plume of smoke, it looks like some sort of building has been hit by the Israeli Defence forces a minute to go. We havent seen this sort of smoke for a few hours, but we know that attacks from the idf have been ongoing throughout the day. We also know from the abyssinian Health Authorities the palestinian Health Authorities that hundreds have been killed. There is the latest air strike from another album. This could be from the hospital. They havent had this completely verified, but we are hearing from various reports that this could be the latest strike from the idf and could be near a hospital in gaza city. We know that there are around 2000 people injured over the last 24 hours, since that attack by hamas militants into israel. 2000 were injured within gaza city and were also hearing that the already very stretched medical facilities have been struggling to cope with what is happening. Pictures coming into us now from gaza city showing another strike from the Israeli Defence forces. Trying to bring you more information about where that strike actually happen when we get it here on bbc news. So as we know, dozens of israelis have been taken hostage. Let me bring you these pictures, which some viewers might find distressing. Showing a woman in her 20s begging for her life as she was abducted and driven away by armed men on a motorbike. An israeli man, thought to be her partner, is also seized by palestinian militants. The pair had been at an outdoor Music Festival near the gaza border. Other video shows partygoers fleeing across the desert. Some try to get into cars and others flee on foot. There are reports that they were attacked by a number of hamas militants that one eyewitness described as shooting people indiscriminately. A short time ago, i spoke to amit parpara from tel aviv. Hes a friend of noa argamani an israeli woman who was at the same Music Festival near gaza with her boyfriend avinatan 0r. She was seen in videos circulating on social media being kidnapped by hamas fighters. They are both missing. Mr parpara told me about his last contact with noa. My my First Contact with noa was around 6 30pm when the missile started. There were missiles all around of israel. Thats what that what woke us up, all of us. And then we started messaging all the people that are still now in the Music Festival, which happens to be all morning. What is she saying in those messages . We are seeing them now, but they are obviously in hebrew. Can you explain what shes saying to you . So shes sending a location, live location, and asking for someone to save her. Save her boyfriend. She was hiding and. In a hole near the festival, there were searching for some some place to hide because they didnt have any cars. Thats also what she wrote. She doesnt have any car. And her boyfriend, they came to another group, i guess. So they hid for when the terrorists came at around. 8. 30 to 9, the terrorists broke through the gaza borders and they came in. Thats when we started hearing about the horrors and the butcher thats going on in the festival. And thats when we started really getting nervous about about noa and her boyfriend, of course, for other people as well that are still missing and around 8. 30 was the last message that i got from her. Saying that she doesnt have any car. I tried to tell her to stay low. Tried to, maybe. I tried to contact the police and the military so that theyll know that their location. Maybe theyll find them. About half an hour after i found that video that was seen here before of her and a motorcycle taken away from her boyfriend. You can see clearly the terror going into the gaza strip. You must be really, really worried, amit. Yeah. Really, really bad. You know, this is the largest event that we can remember in our lifetime. Weve been through a few operations, but surprised that this scale and magnitude on israel, i cannot recall. This exact number of people who were kidnapped are yet to be exact. That means we dont know, but maybe near 100 knows most of them. They are most of them civilians, young people, friends, children, women, elderly that were kidnapped from their home and the Music Festival. So its notjust about what happened to noa. Its about everyone that is kidnapped right there to gaza at this time, which hasnt been Something Like this in the whole history. Amit, what have the government or officials been telling you about their ongoing search or how theyre going to try and get these hostages back . There were no official contact from the government with us. Im in contact with noas family and the family, there has been no official contact that something is ongoing. And thats most of our purpose here, is to to make use of the network, to understand that a quick force might have a chance to get them out safely. Right now, time is of the essence, and this is our main priority right now, getting people back home safely as soon as possible before its too late. All of the acting up that is now happening is from civilians, private groups that are combined together to help the people get back together and this is. This is the most. There has been no official contact. And its all what we do. We right now have the authorities in the government and people that we are contact with to help and find where all of the people that are being kidnapped. But its not. It has to happen now. And someone can still save the situation. We must act fast. His friend are still missing in the live pictures coming in to us from gaza city show another strike from Israeli Defence forces.
