Live now to the bbc s political reporter david cornock. David, what should we make of what we have heard from rishi sunak about what we heard from Suella Braverman . We heard Suella Braverman earlier in the week talk about multiculturalism failing, people leaving parallel lives, as she put it, and she mentioned leicester. 0ur bbc colleagues from the East Midlands Today wanted to know whether the Prime Minister agreed with her or not. He was not going to give a yes or no answer to that, he was not going to probably disagree with a senior cabinet minister, but he did answer the question in a strikingly different way. He talked about the benefits of integration, he talked about how well the uk had done to integrate communities, and it was quite striking as wealth because he does not often talk or has not been questioned about his own personal background, his indian heritage. It was quite striking that he said, yes, it was wonderful he was in downing street, but it was no big deal, and that he thought was a sign of the Progress The Uk had made. David, the Prime Minister also refused to say whether he believed hsz refused to say whether he believed hs2 was value for money. We will bring you more as it develops on that story. For now, though, you will remember we were hearing from the Prime Minister rishi sunak earlier, talking about hs2 and whether that will continue as planned. Its alive not to the labour mayor of the Liverpool City Region lets go live now. We have not gotten a clear answer from the live now. We have not gotten a clear answerfrom the Prime Minister live now. We have not gotten a clear answer from the Prime Minister about whether the plans will proceed, as originally intended. What is your reaction to what you are hearing . The speculation is already stirring to hit areas like ours in the north, because of the uncertainty rishi sunak has created, and we keep on Hearing Questions put to him and he wont answer them. It is a master class in circuit location, about what he wont say. I understand there are genuine concerns by some people about the cost of it, but the economic ramifications of not building the leg between birmingham and manchester to an area like ours is about £15 billion, and if we are truly to level up the country, we need to release the potential of areas like the Liverpool City Region. Areas like the liverpool city reaion. ,. , region. And ust give us some detail of what it region. And just give us some detail of what it means region. Much of the sunshine we got to see today was quite hazy in nature, thanks to a mix of high cloud and wildfire smoke from North America that was blown all the way across the atlantic in the wake of storm agnes, which you can see here swinging away from our shores. There is, though, another Weather System now pushing in from the west, already bringing some of us some outbreaks of rain which will continue through the evening and into the night. Some of that rain will be pretty heavy. So as we head into the night, some pretty wet weather for a time in western scotland, drying up there in northern ireland. But the heaviest rain, i think, will be across parts of south wales and then up into the midlands and lincolnshire. There could be enough rain in one or two locations, perhaps most especially in the south of wales, for some localised flooding and some travel disruption. And then that rain bands weakening all the while, pushing towards the South East Corner, where it is going to stay very mild. Further north and west, something cooler and fresher to take us into friday morning. So this Weather System mayjust take a little bit of time to clear from the South East Corner through tomorrow morning. High pressure to the south, low pressure to the north that brings a mix of weather fortunes. The further south you are, it should be mostly dry, not too many showers, plenty of sunshine. Further north, some sunshine, too, but more in the way of showers, particularly in the west of scotland, with gales possible in the far north. Certainly quite a windy day across scotland. Temperatures of 13 degrees in lerwick and 20 degrees in london. Now, friday night will be quite chilly as this ridge of High Pressure topples its way eastwards, but it doesnt last long. Here comes our next rain bearing Weather System for saturday. Some heavy bursts of rain pushing across northern ireland, fringing into parts of north wales, North West England and then up across scotland. Further south, well see some spells of sunshine. It may just start to feel a little warmer and a little more humid. Thats certainly a theme we will take with us into sunday. We could see highs of 23 degrees in the South East Corner, given enough sunshine. There will be a band of cloud and Showery Rain Draped somewhere across central, Southern England into wales. To the north of that sunshine and showers, 16 degrees the top temperature in glasgow. And then into next week, well, thoroughly mixed. Therell be more rain at times, itll often be quite breezy, but it mayjust turn a little warmer for a time in the south.
