And the Union Representing writers have reached a tentative deal. Writers have been on strike since early may. The 15,000 plus members will still have to vote to ratify the deal. In a statement, the Writers Guild of america said we can say, with great pride, that this deal is exceptional with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of the membership. Actors are Still Holding industrial action, though. They have been on strike sincejuly. Both strikes have hit the Entertainment Industry hard. Jeanie wolf is an Entertainment Reporter in the us she gave us her reaction to the deal. This is the most positive news weve heard out of any meeting in all these months. What the writers are asking for reflects the changes in the entertainment business. For instance, residuals, replay of programmes and programmes that are successful, especially in streaming, which is where the Television Industry is aiming. And the streaming services dont like to report these statistics of their audience. But the writers are saying if were a big success, we want to we want to reap part of the profits of that. Theyre also talking about the size and the duration of writers, how many people it takes to write a show, how long they get to work. And then theres ai, artificial intelligence, and Everyone Wants to make sure that theyre protected against computers writing their script instead of them writing their script. You know, these are things that dont really resonate with the public, but with writers, they do. And they affect all of us because we count on those shows, the movies and the tv shows. We count on them to entertain us and we count on their success. I think its good news that no one is leaking the details because to do so would be going against their agreement that they wait to work this out and that they get to ratify it with the guild. But on the other hand, the details, everyone� s waiting for the details. And its a good sign that the Writers Guild is saying this is great progress because the actors havent settled their strike yet. Jeanie wolf speaking there. Earlier i spoke to gordon brown and asked him about these proposals. We have got an explosive situation in the world today. We have got droughts, floods and fire storms hitting the poorest countries in the world, and yet at the same time we have got these unprecedented profits, Windfall Profits that have been made by the petro states and oil companies, and the extent of it is that it is 4 trillion, 4,000 billion in revenues in the last year, 2. 5 trillion of that a windfall, money that is unearned but money that should go to helping those people that are suffering from the high energy prices, and suffering from Climate Change as a result of historic emissions. Thats why i am proposing that the chair of the cop28, which is the united arab emirates, come forward with a proposal to kick start a new Financing Mechanism to deal with the mitigation and adaptation in the south and they then ask, after they pay a Windfall Levy, i suggest 25 billion, they then ask the rest of the rich countries to guarantee finance so we can eventually get to 1 trillion a year, which is what is necessary to deal with the developmental and Climate Change needs of the global south. That is a huge amount of money youre looking for. Would this be on a voluntary basis . It could be a voluntary basis, but it depends on the pressure that is put on by the rest of the world. The chairman of cop28, who is after all the chairman of one of the Biggest Oil Companies in the world, has told people to put up the money. But as yet, the petro states have not done enough when they have been making the Windfall Profits. If you get 2. 5 trillion, which is 2,500 billion, which is almost as big as the economy of the uk, in windfall revenues, then instead of spending it on buying up sports teams, which is what saudi arabia is doing, they might spend it on helping those people who have been the victims of rising poverty and rising disconnections from electricity in the poorest countries of the world. I am proposing a burden sharing agreement. Let the current emitters pay up some of the money with this Windfall Levy. Let the historic emitters, mainly western countries, add to that. Lets accept that the world bank needs to be properly refinanced and then we can raise the amount of money available to 1 trillion. When i chaired the g20 in 2009, we needed 1 trillion to underpin the world economy, 1 trillion in total. Now we need 1 trillion a year. And of course, the oil and gas revenues can contribute a great deal to it. These are massive additional, unprecedented, almost unimagined profits, bigger than at any time in the history of oil, that have been made in one year. And they may be made this year as well. Therefore, there should be a contribution to a Climate Solution that has eluded us for years. Its an ambitious idea, but do you have any backing for it . I have talked to president lula, the new chairman of the g20, about it. I have sent a letter to the chair of the cop28 committee. I believe that around the world, people who are concerned about Climate Change will know that we need something to break through this logjam. We promised 100 billion in 2009 to the developing countries which was never delivered. Then there was a promise of 100 billion in International Money called special drawing rights. It has not yet been delivered. Last year a loss and damage fund was set up, and theres hardly any money in it. We have got to do something to break through. And if youre the chair of cop28, as the uae is, they have a duty as well as an opportunity to come up with a funding solution. If we could get a burden sharing agreement, we could serve the needs of the poorest coastal states because when you look at the floods in libya, when you look at the droughts in africa and when you look at the previous floods in pakistan, these countries simply cannot afford to pay. Africa are responsible for 2 of global emissions, but the bill for adaptation that they would have to pay is 50 of the global bill. At the moment, they are getting only 3 or 4 of the finance. We have to do something to make it possible for them to deal with the energy transition. Former british Prime Minister gordon brown talking to me a little earlier. Theyre the first to cross the border since it was captured by Azerbaijani Forces earlier this week. The territory is at the heart of one of the worlds longest running conflicts. Nagorno karabakh lies in the mountainous South Caucasus region of Eastern Europe and asia between the black sea and the caspian sea. Its recognised internationally as part of azerbaijan, but has been controlled by Ethnic Armenians for three decades. Earlier we heard from our correspondent, kasra naji, whos been following the story. Im right in the centre of yerevan, which is the capital of armenia. People you see behind me are the police protecting the main government office, which also houses the office of the Prime Minister, nikol pashinyan. There have been demonstrations here for the last six days against the government, against the Prime Minister for what the protesters see as a feeble response by the armenian government towards whats happening in karabakh. And in fact, they blame him for having lost karabakh to azerbaijan, the whole of this region. And today, as you say, there are more refugees coming out of kara bakh. This thing is not about karabakh only, many people here feel. Theres a push, theres ambition in azerbaijan, lets say, for more territorial gain. And that territory that theyre looking to is a southern part of armenia on the border with iran. Azerbaijan wants to open a corridor that would connect Azerbaijan To Nakhchivan and turkey, and that corridor eventually has to pass through armenia. So theres theres a fear that azerbaijan have more plans for this region and for taking over that bit of armenian territory. And todays visit by president s of turkey and azerbaijan to this autonomous region of nakhchivan on the west side of the armenian area is very provocative. They are pushing for this corridor, zangezur corridor, to open. A first glimpse of the capsule after its epicjourney through space. We have confirmed parachute deployment. High up in the atmosphere a parachute opens, slowing its descent. Touchdown. I repeat, src has touched down. A Textbook Landing in the middle of the utah desert. For dante lauretta, the lead scientist who spent decades working on the osiris rex mission, it was an emotional moment. So how did it go . It went absolutely perfectly, absolutely perfect landing. We stuck it. We didnt move. We landed in nice, soft soil. The capsule looked flawless. I cried like a baby in that helicopter when i heard that the parachute had opened and we were coming infora soft landing. It wasjust an overwhelming moment for me. Inside this capsule is the most precious sample fragments of an asteroid called bennu. The team quickly secure it to prevent any contamination, and attach it to a 30 metre line slung beneath the helicopter. This is the moment that nasa has been waiting for. After seven long years, travelling billions of miles to bennu and back, the capsule is finally here. The priority now is getting it out of the Dusty Desert Environment and into this safe and sterile, clean room as quickly as possible. A quick knock to say theyve arrived and the capsule is in, and the painstaking and meticulous process to prepare it for opening begins. The whole procedure will take weeks. When that capsule opens, to see for the first time this material that no other human has seen before, its something you think about. Weve thought about it for the past seven years, and itsjust going to be very exciting. But also, theres going to be a lot of work to do. So were going to kick into Business Mode very quickly. So why go to all of this effort . Bennu tops the list of nasas most hazardous space rocks. So studying its make up could help us to stop it, if we ever need to. But it could also reveal more about our origins. Its a perfectly preserved relic from the dawn of the solar system. Its going to keep scientists busy for a long time. One of the most important parts of a Sample Return Mission is we take 75 of that sample, and were going to lock it away for future generations, people who havent even been born yet, to work in laboratories that dont exist yet, and instrumentation that you havent thought of yet. So, i mean, its an incredibly valuable, valuable sample that were bringing back. The next stage of this mission will involve this military cargo plane. The canister containing the sample will be packaged up and loaded onto it and flown to Thejohnson Space Centre in houston, where scientists are waiting to start the most exciting bit opening it up to see exactly whats inside. The capsule is like a russian doll. Different layers have to be removed to get to the dust and rocks inside. The hope is they could reveal the story of our solar system. What we have at the moment are a few showers getting on across parts of wales, Northern England, Northern Ireland. But the bulk will be across scotland and could be heavy and thundery. Still gusty winds across the north and the west. Gusting in excess of 40 mph. But a lot of dry weather, a fair bit of sunshine with highs up to 23 degrees. Through this evening and overnight we hang onto a lot of clear skies at first but then the system coming up from the south will introduce humid conditions and some showers across wales, south west england, the midlands and southern counties. And at the same time we also have a Weather Front bringing in rain across Northern Ireland at the outer hebrides. Both of these fronts through tomorrow will push north eastwards and that you can see from the isobars it is going to be another breezy day in the south but windy in the north. So the showers continue to push up into the north sea, the rain moves out of Northern Ireland across Northern England and into scotland. As we head on from tuesday into wednesday we have this developing area of low pressure which is going to bring stormy conditions. Some heavy rain but also some strong winds.
