Low and stable inflation is the foundation of a healthy economy. High inflation hurts the least well off the most. The projection that we present today is very much in two parts. Im going to begin with the first part, which is the near term outlook for inflation over the remainder of this year. Now, given ofgems price cap on electricity and gas bills, and the way it slows down the pass through of wholesale Energy Prices to consumer bills, we expect inflation to take a further step down in thejuly data, which will be published in two weeks time.
