In favour of remain by giving the vote to two million eu citizens. The Daily Telegraph devotes most of its front page to the submission by thejewish Labour Movement to the equality and human rights commission. And the Financial Times reports that the Worlds Biggest Oil company, saudi aramco, has raised a record 25 and a half billion dollars in its initial public offering. The election dominating in one shape orform. 0ven ready and set the election dominating in one shape or form. 0ven ready and set to grill, this is the headline grabbing phrase that andrew neil used to throw down the gauntlet live on air to borisjohnson. Throw down the gauntlet live on air to Boris Johnson. He throw down the gauntlet live on air to borisjohnson. He has made the front pages for this. It is on the front pages for this. It is on the front pages for this. It is on the front page of the mirror and it is quite extraordinary with the broadcaster looked down the camera and delivered this and it wasnt just, stop being a coward, he went through and said, using his own phrase. This question of trust remains an issue and that is one of the biggest questions. Borisjohnson looks set to avoid this if he possibly can and he is avoiding another interview. Why . Neil is ferocious and a very good interviewer and he doesnt want to face that. Isnt it extraordinary that after all of these years, we still do not actually have an independent rule that government would happens these debates . Somebody, anybody can say actually, ido somebody, anybody can say actually, i do not feel like doing this. He was interviewed by andrew. And some thought it was a particularly bad tempered one. I have never seen interview in which two people talk over each other to that extent. |j think, over each other to that extent. think, they are very different styles a nd think, they are very different styles and it felt like youre trying to say, ive got him hereinafter be doing to do it. It also seemed extraordinary that labourdid also seemed extraordinary that labour did not get one of those interviews if you think, the thing about this is doesnt actually have an effect of the public was mike i do not they made the calculation echoing in the car on that calling him a coward on the front page would do it and i think Boris Johnsons campaign and not campaigning, it has been done on a gentlemans agreement in the past i think you are right, we may have to have sit down rules going forward. You must have those going forward. I looked back yesterday and and or vhs tape of what was going on in 1983. Why did you do that . With margaret thatcher, and david steele. But i also looked at the late sir robin day and what those interviews are like. It is not for me but for others tojudge whether like. It is not for me but for others to judge whether the interviews today are getting eliciting answers with the style, the much more aggressive styles of there, robin for sure was mightily aggressive when he wanted to be. But you know something, it seems to me that there is an interview today and the london Evening Standard with borisjohnson where he says he is going to bring the country together after brexit. Talking about that, my question is how . Will someone please tell me how is the country going to be brought together after all of this . We are not necessarily going to find out in an interview with andrew neil. David, lets turn to the telegraph or the striking front page, making labour as safe haven for anti semites. From the Labour Movement, the equality and Human Rights Movement condition. This did come out first thing this morning, the Daily Telegraph has chosen to give this so much prominence. How many months, was it years ago when these allegations of anti semitism in the labour party were being made . And how has the leadership, the Leaders Office prepared, or not prepared, to deal with it in this Election Campaign . For some of us, thatis Election Campaign . For some of us, that is quite extraordinary and im speaking of it only this morning to a very senior figure from new labour, but very much the left wing of the old, new Labour Movement because it was known many years ago. He was astonished at how this Election Campaign from the Labour Party Point of view has not been prepared for and things like this have been allowed, you might argue to run amok in a labour sympathetic paper. Is there anything new in here, where the allegations come from i suppose. So that is the deeply damaging thing and here is in the last six days of the campaign. Labour they are saying they are dealing with every case of anti semitism and Jeremy Corbyn did say sorry, but how much does this remaina say sorry, but how much does this remain a problem for labour . A lot of this stems from the incredibly slow way they had to deal with it. I think there arejust slow way they had to deal with it. I think there are just in denial for a long time and i think what is damning about this from the Labour Movement is the explanation of the institutional element of it. That there are so many cases in the way in which they have been dealt with, they make allegations about interference from the labour office. Labour would say they are referring to the situation as it was and it is no longer like that. I thinkjohn said the same thing on the radio this morning but the front page of National Newspaper saying this i think to be very cynical, i do not think to be very cynical, i do not think that they think there are a lot of votes to be lost from this issue with p would expect to vote for them. To be really kind of cynical about it, but you are right, they have not been on the front foot with other issues like this at all, they have not been really interested in the conventional media, they have not been ahead with setting the agenda when it comes to newspapers at all. And theyre not interested according to the front page of the Financial Times with deals or coalitions. Sojohn Financial Times with deals or coalitions. So john mcdonald, Financial Times with deals or coalitions. Sojohn mcdonald, the shadow chancellor is given an interview to the Financial Times. We will implement our manifesto, no deal, no coalitions. In that basically means the challenges there for everybody to bring down a minority labour government. It will be very interesting to see. If there was to be and we can speculate for another six days, whether or not there may be or essay that some people a reckoning but we will see, if there was to be a labour minority government, with their actually be iio government, with their actually be no deal . With a actually front of and try not to do some sort of a deal with whoever . The lib dems, if they were to have enough mps to make a difference, would they say well, we will support you with a different leader . What do you think . From the head of the civil service, he had been advising mcdonald, saying the last week before, losing track now. That whether or not the question of leadership would be a question in the event of some kind of talks about coalition ordeals. It is interesting because the prerogative is with the current Prime Minister of who can form a government. So presumably Boris Johnson of who can form a government. So presumably borisjohnson has a go with the minority leader if that we re with the minority leader if that were to happen before and it is traditionalfor parties were to happen before and it is traditional for parties to say if they can do deals because in this case, it might be counterproductive, a lot of people out there do not wa nt full a lot of people out there do not want fullJeremy Corbyn policies. In contrast to Boris Johnson, interestingly, i think with the s and p, they want independence referendum, no surprise there and labour nationally has given into that, much to the annoyance of the scottish labour party. If the numbers were to come out this way, a big if you could see some kind of formal deal if not a coalition. the stories of your humans are correct that this has been the kiss of death for the scottish labour party, this is hovering around another referendum and it would be very interesting to see how the labour party forms in its traditional strong base in scotland. We are going to leave it, i have this thought for those watching 0rd vhs tapes. I. Thats it for the papers this hour. David davies and Nicola Bartlett will be back at half past eleven for another look at the papers. Headlines are coming up at eleven, stay with us. Good evening to you. The weather is looking very flip flop over the past few days, one day unsettled and windy, but a ridge of High Pressure on friday will be one of those mornings to be one of those in su btle mornings to be one of those in subtle days, you can see on the chart, early on friday, lots of isobars and weather fronts indicating spells of rain. But you will notice that it will be very mild in england and wales with the air source mild in england and wales with the airsource on mild in england and wales with the air source on the southwest, a bra kes air source on the southwest, a brakes of rain which will eventually clear a way to the south coast of the morning and then it will brighten up a little been there be a whole rush of showers pushing into northwestern areas across the east with some thunder and extend, a blustery day up and down the country but a mild one for the south, ten to 13 degrees and a bit cooler across scotla nd 13 degrees and a bit cooler across scotland as we switch a wind direction to a more northwesterly and through friday and overnight, it will stay fairly breezy for their showers at times, particularly in the northwest with drier interludes across more eastern areas but because the breeze, the cloud and showers will be too cold on saturday, which is no lower than five or 6 degrees. As we head on into saturday, looks like this could bea into saturday, looks like this could be a ridge of High Pressure which is going to bring fine weather in these weather fronts for the next with the systems will arrive later in the day between figure cloud across parts of scotland. Largely drove you wanted to showers around, some cloudy times and also some sunshine breaking through and temperatures reaching around ten or 11 degrees, but it goes downhill later in the day across the northwest is this frontal system sweeps through and wet and windy conditions, it looks like in the sunday the main rain will clear through and it should stay dry for the eastern area but windy, plenty of showers pushing into northwestern areas with some of them heavy and wintry over the high ground. Some good sunny spells particularly in the east, with temperatures from ten to 12 and it should be corridor further north. Some issues a very strong winds on sunday night severe gales with very windy across the uk as we head on into monday but a ridge of High Pressure should bring some sunshine for our monday and then to tuesday, the next frontal system then to tuesday, the next frontal syste m m oves then to tuesday, the next frontal system moves in to turn it wet and windy once again. So it really is up and down and a bit of a weather roller coaster ride and that is all for me, good night. This is bbc news. Im rebecca jones.
