As germany score a late winner in front of a record crowd at wembley and well be taking an in depth look at the papers with our reviewers john rentoul and penny smith stay with us for that. Flooding and rail cancellations are affecting parts of the north of england and the midlands, after the recent torrential downpours, that caused rivers to burst their banks. Seven severe flood warnings, meaning a threat to life, are still in place on the river don in South Yorkshire, while Derbyshire Police have named the woman who died after being swept away by floodwaters on the River Derwent near the town of matlock. She was annie hall, a former high sheriff of derbyshire. Our correspondent, fiona trott, is at stainforth in South Yorkshire the floodwaters have receded in some parts of Northern England but the situation we have in fishlake tonight is that there are some residents in that village who are basically living on an island. That is how it is being described by local people here. Completely surrounded by floodwater after the river don burst its banks. All day, five specialist fire and rescue teams assisted by members of the local community have been using a boat to get to those people and evacuate dozens of families from their homes. They are now being looked after in a local community centre. They do not yet know when they are able to return. The village residents are leaving behind. The roads in fishlake are like rivers tonight, unless you have a boat the only way to travel is by tractor. At times like these, local farmers are happy to help out. It is how emergency supplies have been reaching residents. All of them alarmed by how quickly it happened. Ive never seen it like this. In all my life. Apparently it flooded in 1933 or so. Ive never seen it this bad. Some people here have decided to stay, but for one woman that is not an option. The prospect of being trapped could not be more serious. We only moved in five weeks ago. Im waiting for a transplant. 13 miles away in bentley, residents are counting the cost of the clear up. All of this has got to be replaced. Diane cordons family were flooded in 2007 and could not afford new insurance was they say they want help and the council is not providing it. As soon as possible, we need skips. They say that the wagons cannot go through because of the water. Cars are managing to get through as you can see, so can a wagon with a skip on the back of it. What are we supposed to do with this . Get on with it . Leave you to it . What are we supposed to do with this rancid, smelly, contaminated stuff. Doncaster council has described the situation is highly complex and says it has been very difficult to predict and control future events. In derbyshire, matlock has been one of the worst affected areas there. The woman who died after being caught in floodwater near darley dale has today been named as the former high sheriff annie hall. She has been described as a great leader who will be hugely missed. It will be weeks before this village and others like it reach some kind of normality. In the meantime, the government says it has launched an Emergency Fund so local authorities can help safeguard peoples lives and property. Fiona trott, bbc news, doncaster. A lot of women we were speaking to me in doncaster today in bentley saw we are used to rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck in and helping each other right but there is the point, the council not helping us do that, why not open the local Community Centres 7 we could go there and get tea and coffee and hot meals, why is the council being slow to respond . You heard that lady talking about skips and the clean up operation and the council are clear, what Doncaster Council say tonight is they are still in the Emergency Response stage, still dealing with what they call a very complex situation and they are hoping in about two or three days that they can start looking at the response and dealing with those complaints first but first and foremost, like here in fishlake, where we have a community virtually cut off from the rest of the area here, they have to respond to that first. That is a priority and then they will deal with Everything Else later but they say if it is an emergency you must contact the emergency services. You must contact the council and you will be given help. Its been a busy day on the Election Campaign trail, with the main parties unveiling new policy pledges. The conservatives have announced plans to train more gps while labour and the liberal democrats are focussing on more support for childcare. Heres our political correspondent, iain watson. Its enough to raise your blood pressure. You know what its like. Try to get a non urgent appointment with your doctor and you can wait days, sometimes more than a week. Today, the conservatives promised an injection of more gps into the Health Service in england by 2025. The package will deliver 6000 more doctors in primary care and that will lead to 50 million more appointments. I know how frustrating it is when you cannot get a gp appointment fast enough. But hang on what happened to the 5000 gps the conservatives promised at the 2015 election . That target has not been reached. The reality will be seeing these delivered on. Whichever government we have it a few weeks time, we need to recognise the stressed state of general practice and we need them to recognise that these promises are solid and should be delivered on and they should be delivered on swiftly. Labour claim Public Services have got worse since the conservatives came to power. Jeremy corbyn was at a childrens arts project in leeds but says many facilities have closed in recent years. He is pledging to set up 1000 preschool sure start centres and extending entitlement to childcare. He says we will be told how this will be paid for later in the campaign. We are determined to open Childrens Centres so that sure start can be a reality, as it was in the past for so many of our children. All of our funding commitments will be clearly there in the grey book that will be published alongside our manifesto. Not to be outdone, at a rally in london the lib dem leader had her own offer on childcare. A liberal democrat government will provide working parents with free, high Quality Childcare from when their child is nine months old until their first day at school. There has not been too much talk of the b word for the politicians today although stop brexit is part of the official Lib Dem Campaign slogan and jo swinson has tried to convince us and, indeed, some of her own Party Members that she has a much broader agenda. Usually at elections politicians never miss the opportunity to kiss a baby. Today, though, it is the parents who are being love bombed but high Quality Childcare does not come cheap. Certainly whoever is in power will have a struggle between making sure the funding rate is high enough that providers can deliver the high quality care that they want to but at the same time keep control of the overall cost. There is clearly an appetite for policies other than brexit on the political menu. Today, there was plenty of sweeteners for the voters. But there is still no such as a free lunch. Iain watson, bbc news. In the run up to polling day, well be bringing you an essential guide to the various campaigns in a daily electioncast. This is the annual festival that ta kes pla ce this is the annual festival that takes place before remembrance sunday and each year the theme is inevitably remembering those who lost their lives in conflicts over the years but the particular theme this year is remembering together and we can see pictures from it. They are particularly looking back to the 1944 they are particularly looking back to the 191m because we 75 years on from then and the theme is very much that that was a crucial year in world war ii battles, that back then shaped the end of the war. The d day landings, some 13 nations were involved in that together and the theme is all of these years on, those friendships and alliances really shaped the world we are in today. There is lots of pomp and ceremony and moments of reflection and also entertainment and one of those performing was faculty from the Chelsea Pensioners who won britains talent recently. We are the boys of the old brigade. Who fought with us side by side. Shoulder to shoulder, blade by blade, until they fail and die. Tell us, who has beenjoining the queen in the royal box . An interesting night for royal watchers, the focus on remembering the past but this is the first time that the duke and duchess of cambridge and the duke and duchess of sussex have been together ever since harry and megan did a documentary on television where they spoke about the pressures they were under in the public eye and harry talking about his relationship with prince william, saying they are on different paths and they had good days and bad days so a lot of eyes are on the royal box along with the queen, the Prime Minister also there. And many veterans very much taking part in this festival today. This is a beginning of several days of ceremonies of remembrance, what happens tomorrow . Remembrance sunday, the gathering at the cenotaph and the two minute silence that will happen and a veteran will ta ke that will happen and a veteran will take part, years old, he fought in the Second World War and his father was killed in the First World War and there will also be an nepalese ambassador who is going to lay a tribute for the first time to mark the contribution of the gurkhas towards the british army and an Armistice Day on monday we will have a two minute silence on the theme this year really is asking people for those two minutes, just put aside your mobile phone and your la ptop aside your mobile phone and your laptop and really just aside your mobile phone and your laptop and reallyjust take part in the silence and really think about the silence and really think about the contribution and sacrifice people have made over the years. Thank you very much. Simonjones. Ceremonies are taking place in germany, to mark thirty years since the fall of the berlin wall, a potent symbol of the cold war divide, between east and west. The chancellor angela merkel, who grew up in east germany, said the anniversary should be a call for europeans, to stand up for freedom, tolerance and human rights. Jenny hill reports from berlin berlins getting ready to party. Celebrations to mark a moment which shaped the world as we know it today. Cornelia was 11 when the wall came down and the doors to the west were flung open. I remember also when we could go to the west part, the smell. I would never forget about the smelling in the shops because it was such an amazing smell, i never had before. In 1961, with the world watching, east berlin became a prison. Its citizens sealed off from friends and family in the west. 30 years after it fell, it is still a powerful symbol of division. There is not much of it left a day. It is the focused of commemorations, led by angela merkel, who herself grew up behind the iron curtain. For monika, an emotional day. The wall, she told us, tore her family apart. She never knew her grandfather, who lived in the west. By the time the wall fell, he was dead. It was, astonishingly, a bloodless revolution, which followed weeks of street protests. Many declared the birth of a new world order. One which some warn is at risk today. Translation the values upon which europe is founded, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, the preservation of human rights. They absolutely cannot be taken for granted and must constantly be defended. For germany, this is a bittersweet day. A commemoration of hardship endured, a celebration of freedom won but a chance too to reflect on new divisions. But tonight, lit up with celebration, berlin will simply remember the day so many never dared to hope would come. The headlines on bbc news. Some of us had more rain and not just rain, some snow there into the welsh hills in shropshire, very wintry for a time today, thankfully we have not seen the huge amount of new rainfall in those areas seeing the worst of the flooding but there are still some severe flood warnings, head to the website for full details about the areas affected by those and at the moment. This is where the rain is setting overnight, it will be across parts of england, southern half of england and wales, easing in intensity, some hill snow mixed in, Northern Ireland drier but icy as temperatures dip away in the frost sets in, so ice and untreated surfaces and a risk across parts of Northern England and scotland for that as it turns cold and frosty here as well. Under clear skies. The low pressure that but todays rain is pulling away southwards, with the gap between weather systems so these become important as we look at the longer forecast but as for the number on sunday, it is looking much quieter, could be fog patches across southern parts with a good deal of cloud and some patchy rain to start the day, a little clearing southwards as it brightens up and parts of Eastern England and scotland might catch the odd shower but most places will be dry and a good deal of sunshine around, getting over Northern Ireland for the afternoon and it will feel warmer where we exchange the rain today for sun tomorrow but still on the chilly side. It will turn wetter for the evening in Northern Ireland, here is the next weather system moving in, some snow to the hills of scotland, particularly north of the central belt, very wintry start to monday morning here and some snow at least on the grounds, of the higher routes, because the system is pulling away and temperatures head up a little bit overnight after a chilly start to the night. The last of the rain for that system cutting away from south eastern parts on monday, behind that it is sunshine and showers and plenty of these packing in across the north west of the uk, some of these still wintry on Higher Ground and it is a blustery day on monday, it will feel chillier in the stronger wind. And then we will look at the big picture, low pressure is still close by, going from monday to tuesday, still some showers around and that will gradually on tuesday go to be easing so showers easing on tuesday, and there is another wet weather system coming in from the atlantic, and that is coming in on wednesday. Hello and welcome to our look ahead to tomorrows papers. A bit earlier than usual with me are broadcaster penny smith and chief political commentator at the independentjohn rentoul. Thank you for being on time hard to do this without the guests many of tomorrows front pages are already in. The Observer Says there is fury after an independent investigations findings into the Prime Ministers relationship with entrepreneur Jennifer Accuri has been shelved until after the general election. Tha mail on sunday leads with conservatives claim that labours general election policies will cost the uk a total of one point two trillion pounds over the span of a five year parliament. The telegraph also leads with that claim, saying the conservatives will publish a dossier setting out calculations that the chancellor sajid javid says shows the true cost of a Prime Ministerjeremy corbyn. The sunday express says Brexit Party Leader nigel farage will give boris a final chance to form a brexit pact that he says could finish labourfor a generation. The independent has an interview with the shadow chancellorjohn mcdonnell who says their manifesto will be the most radical, with promises of a universal basic income and climate pledges at the heart of it. We will begin with the election. The mail on sunday. 1. 2 trillion in red letters, it will cost every uk household £43,000, this is the conservatives calculator, they have worked out what it would costjeremy corbyn over a term in office to deliver his promises . fi corbyn over a term in office to deliver his promises . 1 trillion is a round number, 1. 2 trillion. A lot of zeros nobody knows s is a 12 zeros . Of zeros nobody knows s is a 12 zeros . 12, yes. 1000 billion, a lot of money, the point is this is the conservatives trying to fight the last election because one of the things that happened in the last election was a conservatives did not attack the labour Spending Plans at all, the Labour Party Said this is oui all, the Labour Party Said this is our manifesto, fully costed, and there is not, and that was sort of there is not, and that was sort of the end of the argument and at the end of the election, labour official said they could not believe that the conservatives had not actually gone through their manifesto and costed it, so they have done at this time but it feels Like Fighting the last battle . But it feels Like Fighting the last battle . That was a while ago. A while ago. S was it . Everybody i know seems to think, are they going to vote . Know seems to think, are they going to vote . Will they vote . It will depend on the weather, face it. We have had these hideous storms, imagine if it turned out to be a day when you had torrential rain or anything else and that is coming to anything else and that is coming to a period as well when you are one week before the shortest day of the year. Nobody wants to go out, i have already started hunkering down at three oclock and going, might as well stay in the window of opportunity is going to be so narrow at least it is not a postal vote there will be a lot of postal votes. £43,000, the equivalent of, it is not like they will come around with a cap and say you owe us 43 grand . And that is the average, in fa ct, grand . And that is the average, in fact, it will be more or less, depending on how much, exactly. Nobody knows yet how much the conservatives out they have been splurging spending pledges around. Dont you think that will be the next headline . Dont you think that will be the next headline . The dont you think that will be the next headline . The same thing . Obviously in the left. The sunday telegraph has the story, the scale of the labour reckless spending revealed. There is always a lot of promises, art there . There are but the Election Campaign has hardly started so what they have done is costed labours manifesto for the last election because they have not published there for the selection. We know about the extra Free Childcare, the lib dems have been talking about that. What back providers say we are not sure if that can be funded properly. Some scepticism. After so many years of austerity, people will want to see some spending . How do you pay for it . How much tax . How many times have you heard about how america spent its way out of the slump . Therefore this is a time to do it, it was fascinating in the telegraph, they say that meanwhile, the sunday telegraph reveals Boris Johnson they say that meanwhile, the sunday telegraph reveals borisjohnson is to quadruple the number of Migrant Workers who can take up seasonal jobs on british farms next year. 10,000 following jobs on british farms next year. 10 , 000 following intensive jobs on british farms next year. 10,000 following intensive lobbying by the National Farmers union. Wasnt that part of brexit . If you have fruit and veg just rotting . Beautiful apples. And the immigration minister was in terrible trouble the other day because she could not say whether she wanted immigration to go up or down . What backin immigration to go up or down . What back in the nhs visa that has been suggested . Back in the nhs visa that has been suggested . Enabling back in the nhs visa that has been suggested . Enabling people to come in more cheaply . On a cheaper visa because we have 43,000 vacancies in nursing . And apples they are terribly good for you and they are all over the floor. I used to get so told off for scrapping and now. They almost want me to you could use a bucket the independent, john mcdonnell, the manifesto will be our most radical. How so . My colleague interviewed him, the man of the moment, john mcdonnell, a wonderful combination, his enemies portray him asa combination, his enemies portray him as a street fighting marxist and when he goes on television looks like the sort of village doctor or something . Doctor, yes. Calm and reassuring, often in a pink cardigan. Sounding very reasonable. Some of the things he says are perfectly reasonable but others are a bit odd, the idea of universal basic income, i think that is mad. Wouldnt it be lovely . It wouldnt, give people enough money to live on 01 give people enough money to live on or it will cost so much money that it will be completely unaffordable. You end up paying huge amounts . Wasnt there a scandinavian . In norway, yes. They did a limited experiment and they gave it up because it does not work, it is too expensive. With the advent of Artificial Intelligence doing more work, there must be a way of giving people an income if they are not going to be doing thejobs . People an income if they are not going to be doing the jobs . The pressing moment at the moment, the point is, the highest levels of unemployment in this country . Employment. S what kind of employment . 0 hours contracts . People struggling to make ends meet . There is more homelessness, if you just go around the streets. They are not people injobs. The people who are homeless . But they say they are injobs but they might be on o hours contracts, at some stage the wheels could come off and quickly they end up on the streets. What about the Climate Change . Politicians are urged more and more to do more about Climate Change . That is one thing but i think the ma nifesto that is one thing but i think the manifesto will be different this time around. From two years ago, only two years ago but since then we had the Extinction Rebellion protests a nd had the Extinction Rebellion protests and we had a lot of attention on the urgency of Climate Change and it is interesting to see. We havent got much detail yet except thatjohn mcdonnell is against expanding heathrow. As a constituency mp he has always been opposed to that but it looks like thatis opposed to that but it looks like that is Labour Party Policy and so it should be. Shall be look at the observer . Cameron, bercow thinks that he is born to rule. Do you think it is because he went to a comprehensive and
