And we are not flying a kite, but flying a flag for Lewis Hamiltons victory at silverstone this morning. I will be basking in the sunshine of this victory but when you more news for rain, especially for eastern scotland. Full details coming up on brea kfast. It is monday 4 november. Our top story Lewis Hamilton is celebrating his sixth formula one world title after clinching the 2019 championships in the United States grand prix. His second place finish means he is now the second most successful fi driver of all time, just one title behind Michael Schumachers record. Our Sports Correspondent joe wilson reports from texas. Everything in his view could be chaos. It didnt matter. All Lewis Hamilton had to see was the end of this grand prix. To win the title, he didnt need to win here. Eighth place would do. But watch that silver car overtaking. Always racing. Sebastian vettel was soon out. He didnt wait for the ferrari mechanics. He had his own diagnosis. I think that the suspensionjust failed. Yep, failed. Something broke. While hundreds work in a team, all for the driver. Hamiltons career was inspired by his father. Anthony watched as lewis gave everything and wouldnt let his team mate passed him. He is a rival. Eventually that was bottas going past, safely. Second place for hamilton meant he was champion again. What a drive, mate, that is it. Through the mask, we could just imagine his emotion. Then hamilton was back, safe on the summit. Well, he had never left it. Its just overwhelming, if i am really honest. It was such a tough race today. Yesterday was such a tough race for us, botthas did a fantasticjob, tough race for us, botthas did a fantastic job, today i just tough race for us, botthas did a fantasticjob, today ijust wanted to recover and do the i fantasticjob, today ijust wanted to recover and do the 1 two for the team. Ididnt to recover and do the 1 two for the team. I didnt think that one was going to be possible, but i worked as hard as i could. It was so much emotion valtteri bottas. On the all time great, hamilton is second with only Michael Schumacher winning more drivers titles. Why should hamilton, aged 3a, stop here . Hes in a great place to equal michaels championship wins. And maybe even go for an eighth World Championship. Races, titles does this look like a man who is tired of winning . Some achievement. As we have just been hearing, Lewis Hamilton nowjust one title behind one of motor racings greatest ever, of course, the great Michael Schumacher. And whos to say he is not going to overtake the german . Lets see how their records compare. Well, schumacher has had more races than hamilton, 308 against 248. Yet hamilton boasts a better podium success rate, and while he has fewer victories than schumacher, it is the british driver who has the higher win rate. But it is schumacher who holds the most world titles, with seven compared to hamiltons six. You do get the feeling that hamilton is chasing the numbers. It is all about the record books. Former world champions have hailed hamilton on social media. 2016 champion and hamiltons former team mate nico rosberg speaks of their karting days and says he is on his way to becoming the greatest of all time. And jenson button, who won it in 2009, sent his congratulations to the boy from stevenage. There was praise for hamilton from outside the sport, too. Here is the message from german tennis legend boris becker, fellow countryman of the man whose record hamilton is chasing. We will be speaking to British Racing driverjason plato shortly, after 7 30am this morning. The other little challenges Michael Schumacher did five on the trot, didnt he . So he is probably chasing that as well. I think it is all about the numbers, about the record books. Does he look like a man who is going to stop . No. Even though he looks cool as a cucumber, i think you feel that pressure which he puts himself. Health Service Leaders in england have warned parties against using the nhs as a political weapon in the run up to the election, and said there are signs this is already happening. Nhs providers, which represents hospitals and other health trusts, says there is a danger the public will be let down by unrealistic promises made in the heat of the campaign. Our Health Editor hugh pym reports. Nhs providers says hospitals and other trust have been preparing for winter, but the pressures are greater than ever. Front line services, it says, arent keeping up with the growing demand for care, which is particularly worrying with winter looming. But, with health featuring prominently already in the Election Campaign, there is a warning that politicians need to be straight and clear about funding promises, and not over dramatise the problems. We recognise that there is a political potency around the health service. It matters to people. They care passionately about the health service. But its so important that we have a fair and balanced debate that really presents the facts as they are to the public. To illustrate the scale of the challenge, one provider says there are now 4. 4 Million People in england waiting for routine operations, and there are 107,000 staff vacancies. That is 9 of the workforce. How to tackle these issues is what leaders of trusts say they want to hear from Political Parties, with a proper debate on what is needed in a Taxpayer Funded Service to provide the right quality of care. It is the first full week of campaigning for next months general election, and parties are making some big pledges this morning. The conservatives are promising to raise the National Living wage, and labour talking about the nhs. Lets get the round up from our Political Correspondent jonathan blake, who is at westminster. Jonathan, what are the parties proposing . Good morning, louise. Yes, well, the focus for the conservative party this morning is on low pay, and they are confirming in an announcement made by the chancellor at the conservative Party Conference a few weeks ago about the National Living wage that it will rise from the current level of £8. 21 per hour for eve ryo ne over current level of £8. 21 per hour for everyone over the age of 25 to ten point £50 for everyone over 21 10. 50 pounds. A review into lope has it was the right course of action and the chancellor, sajid javid, says we will end lope by putting the National Living wage up to 10. 50 over the next five years. Labour have criticised this, calling it a derisory offer which people will have to wait years for, and they say they will raise the National Living wage for everyone over the age of 16 to £10 an hour immediately if they we re to £10 an hour immediately if they were to win power. The labour pa rtys focus were to win power. The labour partys focus today is on the nhs and pointing to what they say is a big increase in the number of cancelled operations over the last year or cancelled operations over the last year 01 so. Cancelled operations over the last year or so. They have used freedom of information requests to point to these figures, gathered from hospitals across england and wales, and they say that nearly 80,000 cancelled operations in the last year is a result of conservative cuts. You can expect the conservatives to hit back at that point to the extra investment which they say they are putting into the National Health service, not least to build six new hospital facilities with 27. £2. 7 billion of funding over the next five years. As you have been hearing, the nhs very much a key battleground in the early stages of this campaign. And theres another election today. Mps will choose the next speaker of the house of commons. Yes, there are eight mps in the running to replace john yes, there are eight mps in the running to replacejohn bercow, who recently announced that he will be stepping down, to become the new speaker of the commons. Lindsay hoyle, former labour mp and one of the current deputies, is pretty much the current deputies, is pretty much the favourite, but it is a notoriously difficult operation to predict. So later on in the house of commons the eight candidates in the running will make a pitch to their fellow m ps running will make a pitch to their fellow mps and there will be a series of secret ballots and we will find out who will become a very familiarface find out who will become a very familiar face and a fixture of westminster as the new speaker by this evening. Thank you very much. We will be talking about that a little bit later as well. Millions of people in the indian capital, delhi, have been told to stay indoors to avoid the toxic, eye burning smog thats covered the city. The air pollution, which has exceeded the severe category, has been described as the worst so far this year. Schools have been closed and dozens of flights diverted because of poor visibility. The black Leather Jacket and skin tight trousers that Olivia Newton john wore in the film grease have fetched £314,000 at auction. The film was released in 1978 and starred John Travolta alongside Olivia Newton john, who wore the famous outfit when the couple sang youre the one that i want at the fairground. The leather trousers were already two decades old when filming started, and a broken zip meant she had to be sewn into them. Ididnt i didnt know it was because of a broken zipper, ijust i didnt know it was because of a broken zipper, i just thought she had to be sewn into them. They are super tight, those bad boys. Only about three people in the world could wear them. That is a lot of money, as well. Yes, i saw last week they were on offer. I wasnt considering purchasing them, but i was wondering how much they were going to go for. That is an off a lot of cash. Awful lot of cash. After Lewis Hamiltons success at the us grand prix, matt is at silverstone with the weather for us this morning. Good morning, all. Iam in silverstone this morning. Take a look at this behind me. It is Lewis Hamiltons 2016 world title winning car. It is suspended here at the very entrance to the silverstone experience, a £20 million interactive museum. It only opened ten days ago. A real must for all motorsport fans. Not just celebrating who sits in that car but the hundreds if not thousands of people who work behind it to get the engineering right to make these cars something special. Lots to see here throughout the morning, i will be taking a look around. Certainly we will be basking in the sunshine of hamiltons victory this weekend. I wish we could say we will be basking in the sunshine weatherwise as well, but not quite the case. I think the brea kfast ta keaway for but not quite the case. I think the breakfast takeaway for today is some of the wettest weather will be across eastern scotland and some of the windiest as well. Throughout this week were going to see some rain at times and the big coat will be deployed. Temperatures dropping during the second half of the week, many of us struggling to get even into double figures. Other this morning, not feeling too bad. We have low pressure still with us, low pressure means rain around. The most persistent rain linked to a weather front just putting into persistent rain linked to a weather frontjust putting into the eastern half of scotland. You can see there, and the lines of the charter, the isobars, an indication this is where the windiest weather will be. South of that, later winds moving across england and wales. We have some mist and fog around at the moment, particularly around the east midlands. That could cause problems for your morning journey. A lot of dry weather around, but some showers around the southern and western parts of england and wales. Some of those heavy and thundery. Persistent rain in eastern scotland, but the far north west of scotland and parts of Northern Ireland are not going to have too bad a day. Windy here but they will be some sunshine at times. Temperatures in single figures in the north of scotland, 11 or 12 degrees further south. Into tonight, that persistent rain across eastern scotla nd that persistent rain across eastern scotland finally eases off. There could be some minorflooding before it departs, pushing its way down into Northern England. Still some showers around the periphery of england and wales, but further north and west it is going to be drier, but it will be quite windy, keeping temperatures up, though, tonight. Similar temperatures to what we saw last night. I windy day by and large tomorrow. In eastern parts of england we could start with some mist and fog. Here is where we will see some showers through today. Some showers out to the west of england and wales as well, but a brighter day across eastern parts of scotland. Showers pushing into the north and it will start to feel even cooler. Temperate is in the south around 11 or 12 degrees, most in single figures. As a cloud and rain clears into tuesday night, wednesday morning could have a widespread frost to begin with. A bright enough start to wednesday, but cloud gathering and rain starting to pushing across the Western Areas. Eastern areas should stay dry and bright but take a look at these temperatures. Not getting into single not getting out of single figures across the vast majority of the country. A rather chilly day and we will continue with temperatures like that through the rest of the week. As i said, the big jacket will certainly be required as we go through the rest of the week. But there will be some brighter moments in amongst the showers as well. Looking forward to taking a look around the museum throughout the morning. Join me in about half an hourfor morning. Join me in about half an hour for more. We shall be reflecting on Lewis Hamiltons sixth world title in the programme. Lets take a look at todays papers. The daily express leads with an election pledge from borisjohnson who is looking at plans to give every employee a tax cut worth up to £460 by raising the National Insurance threshold according to the paper. The front page also features a picture of Lewis Hamilton. The main image is of viscountess Emma Weymouth who became the sixth celebrity to leave strictly as mike was saved again. Jeremy corbyn has vowed to keep tv licences free for pensioners if labour wins the general election according to the daily mirror. The paper also features an image of countdowns rachel riley and her husband, professional dancer pasha kovalev, who are expecting their first child. It sounds like you were announcing them on strictly a times investigation has found that children as young as 15 are being brought to the uk by suspected trafficking gangs through visas sponsored by private schools. The paper claims the schools are making hundreds of thousands of pounds from vietnamese children who are entering the country and then disappearing. The image is of wild swimmers in edinburgh. What is a wild swimmer . Anyway. The Online Edition of the Huffington Post takes a look at how some first time voters are feeling. The website says with brexit at the top of the election agenda, there may never have been a more difficult time to be a first time voter. Impossible to predict what will happen in the next five or six weeks, isnt it . Who knows. We shall try and guide you through it carefully. We will be here every single day of it. I imagine we will be out and about summer as well on occasions. Shall we start with you, sally . It was such a big weekend in sport. I have a great picture of Lewis Hamilton. I want to show you this on the front page. This is a picture from yesterdays premier league game between spurs and everton. You are not seeing anything, if you are squeamish, there is nothing disturbing, but you can see from the reactions of the players what had happened to gomez in the moments before, how shocking that was. They we re before, how shocking that was. They were inconsolable. Gomez with a break were inconsolable. Gomez with a brea k yesterday were inconsolable. Gomez with a break yesterday during that game yesterday which completely overshadowed the match and all of the players talking about how difficult it was for them to carry on and then continue to play because, actually, i dont know if it is the case in this situation, previously when they have been broken bones, you can hear it. It was dissipated as well. It was all over the shop. We are not showing it this morning. We will not showing it this morning. We will not show you anything distressing. It will not be on your Television Screen because it is too upsetting. And there was a va are controversy again. What is going on . It wasnt a challenge that caused the break. It was the fact it was a contract with the ground after the challenge. There has been a bit of a mess for var this weekend. It has been a terrible situation. You know when it is taking ages to make a decision about something, then something is wrong. Surely if you are in the stadium, my instinct is var should help you make a decision and it is black or white. It has become quite complicated. What have you got . You have loads of stuff. I was trying to folded neatly but in a small space so folded neatly but in a small space sol folded neatly but in a small space so i couldnt do it. We talk about recycling on this programme a lot. I was talking about plastic last week with hangers. There is a story in the mail this morning and a number of the papers looking at the plan thatis of the papers looking at the plan that is being rolled out by the council in pembrokeshire. Look at the boxes and bags you need. Six different collections. What makes it even more complicated, not only do you have to sort the stuff before you have to sort the stuff before you do it, only three bags of nonrecyclable waste will be collected from the home every three weeks and you have to leave things out at different times to make sure everything is collected. Condemned straightaway. It is not even lodged properly for the pit is usually complicated and clearly not going to work. How many Different Things . Six different boxes and bags. It is great that councils are providing these services, but it has got to be easier. You have to get the right one on the right day. All you get a really passive aggressive sticker stuck on it telling you you put the wrong thing in there. Sounds like someone has had that happen to them. Staying with the theme. I know it is a little early, but bear in mind as you start thinking about the stuff you start thinking about the stuff you get for christmas, there are ways you might have a green christmas. It is pointing out things that you might change like wrapping papers and cards and calendars, the things with glossy stuff and glitter cannot be recycled. The chocolate, by boxes because you will have less waste. There is now a Great Service where you can rent a christmas tree. They will deliver it to in a pot. And it goes back in the ground . And then they will grow it again for next year. So you rent a Real Christmas tree. Have to look after it as well. That is true. Keep it water. The jury is still out. It was plastic trays are not great for the environment but they last year after year. They last. My mum and dad have had one for years longer than you . If you are watching yesterday, you would have noticed we talked about this, the violinist that lost his 310 year old violin . He has it back. A reunion in the dark. It was a late night ina a reunion in the dark. It was a late night in a car park, a Police Officer in the shadows and is £250,000 violin was returned to the owner. He was on breakfast yesterday. There were six plainclothes Police Officers there . Just in case it went wrong. Plainclothes Police Officers there . Just in case it went wronglj plainclothes Police Officers there . Just in case it went wrong. I was on the train this week and somebody had a cello. They said, dont worry, i will not forget it. Did you say cello . Will not forget it. Did you say cello . No, i did not. School of rock . Anyone . Do you do yoga . Ijust started. Apparently. There is a huge increase in the number of people injuring themselves trying to do more elaborate yoga poses. This is really elaborate. Have a look. Victoria beckham up here. That is the way i lay on the sofa. That is not her leg. That is someone elses. There is this one and it has these ones which are meant to be very hard to do, impossible. It is the 1 handed tree pose. To do, impossible. It is the 1handed tree pose. That is bonkers. The scorpion. And these ones. That is frankly impossible. There is a trend on social media lots of people doing yoga to do headstand pictures and very often there is a trick a p pa re ntly and very often there is a trick apparently i have heard which is that you do your headstand right up against the wall, move your feet for against the wall, move your feet for a second, someone takes a picture and you crop the wall out. What is the point . You are cheating yourself. You can do headstand, cant you . Are you going to recreate this . I will ta ke you going to recreate this . I will take the picture. Thank you, both. See you a little bit later. A p pa re ntly apparently i said it was september earlier. You did. Sally noticed it. You are only two months out. Sorry. A bit off there. It is definitely november. Bigger and taller mobile phone masts could be built without councils permission across the countryside under a proposed overhaul of planning rules in england. It is part of government plans to speed up the rollout of 5g networks and improve mobile coverage in rural areas. Janye mccubbin is in birmingham for us this morning, one of the places in the uk where you can currently get a 5g signal. I want to know what difference it makes. Good morning. Good morning. I can tell you this. The cameraman has just got very excited about the things on his camera happening a lot quicker than they would normally do. As you say, the government wants to make this process the 5g masks up much higher and the small cell unit on lampposts in every public building in the country. They want that to happen without getting prior consent from local authorities. They are doing a Public Consultation about this right now and it comes to an end just before midnight tonight. They want this process to be freed up they want this process to be freed up so it happens quicker because they believe in the Business Case for it. There has been some kickback, though, from a handful of councils down south. Before we go any further, have a quick look at this 62nd intro into where were at with 56 this 62nd intro into where were at with 5g right now. We have whizzed through the ages to sg. With we have whizzed through the ages to 5g. With signals already beaming into cities around the country and many are excited. It will be insta nt. Many are excited. It will be instant. There are no loading times, no buffering, no waiting. You can watch the video straightaway without any stoppage. This is about downloads and smart homes and smart cities. One example would be connected ambulances. Having paramedics with a real time information from consultants to actually help patients on the ground. That is life saving and life changing. But wait i dont even have one bar. We dont get 3g and they are talking about 5g . Forget hotspots. 8 of the country with a total not spot. 25 of 25 of the country is a partial not spot. While the government wants to relax planning laws to push ahead with the technology to fix this, campaigns are in desperate campaigners in some parts of the country want the brakes slammed on. The government as a sciences say. Campaigners want more proof. The deadline is end of day today. We are in birmingham with leslie from the West Midlands 5g group because its what the government by the first regional test pad, and even though the chap in that report that he doesnt have one bar, forget about 5g, you are excited. Why . Absolutely. Think back ten years ago and 4g came along and smart phones. We didnt know what would happen, how they would transform our lives. Lets think what 5g can do in the next decade. We dont know. We know some things and trialing something is exciting. Make it tangible for us. Give us an idea of what we can transform. I love the traffic lights. I found that out. The first traffic light was in wolverhampton in the West Midlands in our region. It is that we are now trialling or will be trialling 5g cameras and sensors on our network. Wouldnt that be for the average person to just get around the region quicker, easier, less pollution, traffic flowing . I think that will affect all of us. 5g will not help the people who are in not spot. Even in your patch there are not spot. Absolutely. We are there to accelerate 5g. We are scaling new innovations so they will impact all of us. Thank you so much. Lovely to meet you this morning. Health concerns. Let me tell you this. There is another deadline today that is relevant because science never sleeps. The science right now says this technology is safe, but today there is a deadline from the world of World Health Organization. For submissions from universities and academics into things like the impact on fertility, the impact on cognitive ability, the impact on cancer. Really, science never sleeps. It is a constant evolving situation and now Scientists Say this is safe. Back to you. More from us this is safe. Back to you. More from us later. I want to know whenjulie andrews is on. I felt very honoured to have interviewed her. She isjust fantastic. That is at about 6 55. She was so lovely. Second place was enough for the british driver to wrap up his third title in the row. He is now the second most successful f1 driver of all time, and needs to win just one more championship to match Michael Schumachers record haul of seven. Health Service Leaders in england have warned parties against using the nhs as a political weapon, in the run up to the election, and said there are signs this is already happening. Nhs providers, which represents hospitals and other health trusts, says there is a danger the public will be let down by unrealistic promises made in the heat of the campaign. Mps will elect a new speaker of the house of commons today, following the retirement ofjohn bercow. Mr bercow stood down last week after ten years in the role. There will be a vote in parliament to decide his successor this afternoon. The eight contenders include the Current Deputy speaker, lindsay hoyle, and former deputy Prime Minister Harriet Harman. Those are some of the main stories. There was a first on the strictly dancefloor last night, as the programme made history with its first ever same sex couple routine. Professionalsjohannes and graziano performed a contemporary dance together on the results show, dancing to shine by emeli sande who was singing behind them. The routine got a big reaction online. Earlier this year, producers of strictly said they were completely open to the idea of having a same sex couple pairing from next year. If you havent watched strictly, turn your eyes away. Mike got through again. He is the dance off king. You know what . I think he is getting better. We will get accused of being fully behind michael, which we are, i dont mind supporting a friend in the competition, and i am becoming increasingly annoyed by people giving him grief. It is getting a bit cruel, and i think. All he is doing isjust getting a bit cruel, and i think. All he is doing is just enjoying himself. He is trying really hard, andi himself. He is trying really hard, and i think all four of the judges said he was the better performer in the dance off than the viscountess who went home. He is not being kept in there because he is working for the bbc. It is a ridiculous accusation. Right. Have you finished . I have finished now. Leave michael alone everybody be nice, come on. We had a horrible thing yesterday on the football. Everton played spurs. You can see a bit of a reaction shot behind you. Everton midfielder andre gomes will undergo surgery on a fractured ankle today suffered in his sides 1 1 draw with tottenham. We wont be showing the incident, which had players in tears in the immediate aftermath. Joe lynskey was watching the match. Even the premier League Superstars are only human. Evertons cenk tosun had just seen his team mates suffer a horrific leg injury. This match had finished in a drawer. In truth, the scoreline was a sideshow. Spurs hadnt won away in the league since january. They started this match in 13th place. But, with dele allis opener, they hoped their season was kickstarting. Like his team, allis personal form has been kickstarting. Like his team, allis personalform has been slow kickstarting. Like his team, allis personal form has been slow to get going. The england midfielder then almost gave away a penalty. It took the va artificial three minutes to decide this wasnt handball. Var official. But soon the argument was put in perspective. Evertons portugese midfielder andre gomes fell to the ground. Goodison park couldnt look. Son was the spare player involved. A red card for the south korean almost felt like a mercy. The time it took gomes to safely leave the field gave everton 12 extra minutes to find a goal. It came at the last, through tosun. But, with what had just happened, he and this stadium had new priorities. Those who saw it up close need every comfort. Well, tottenhams dele alli revealed afterwards just how distressed his team mate son was in the dressing room. Going into the changing room after the game, and seeing how upset son was, you know, hes one of the nicest people youll ever meet. He would never want to hurt anybody. I dont know how involved he was. You cant even pick his head out. It was sad to see for everywhere. But i think we have to try to pick each other up. Everybody at tottenham sends our best. Leicester continue their fine run of form under brendan rodgers. They are up to third after beating Crystal Palace 2 0, jamie vardy with leicesters second goal. Leicester have won seven of their last nine league matches, and are just two points behind Manchester City. Rangers are through to the final of the Scottish League cup after they beat hearts at hampden park. Alfredo morelos scored twice in the 3 0 win, which took Steven Gerrard to his first final in charge of rangers, where they will face rivals celtic. The former Manchester City and liverpool striker Mario Balotelli threatened to walk off the pitch after suffering racial abuse in a match in italy. Balotelli, who now plays for brescia, kicked the ball into the stands and tried to leave during their game against hellas verona. The referee suspended play as part of uefas protocol. He went on to score after being persuaded to play on by his team mates. It was a great weekend for british hockey. Both the womens and mens teams have qualified for next years tokyo olympics. Gb women will now have the chance to defend their title after beating chile. After a 3 0 win in saturdays first leg, they secured a 2 1victory yesterday to claim the tie 5 1 on aggregate in london. And following suit, the men beat malaysia 5 2 on sunday after a 4 1 first leg win, to take the tie 9 3 overall. It was the final chance for both sides to qualify for the games after disappointing results in recent tournaments. And the celebrations didnt end there. Also booking their place in tokyo are ireland women, who qualified for the games for the very first time. It was a nail biting penalty shoot out win over canada. There was a brilliant performance from kenyas Joyciline Jepkosgei at the new york marathon. She won the womens event in what was her first ever competitive race at that distance. She almost broke the course record, as well. Before we go, i want to share a little bit of reaction from the Rugby World Cup final. The picture that caught our eye this morning. The man who made the difference for south africa many times during this tournament, and what a pair of pa nts. Tournament, and what a pair of pants. I said this morning, talking to dan, that is confidence, bringing your south africa flag speedos to the final so you can have your pictures taken with the trophy. And dan said. I reckon he would play in those rascals. It would be weird to be in the dressing room and say hold on a second, i am just going to go and change my duds. Hold on a second, i am just going to go and change my dudslj hold on a second, i am just going to go and change my duds. I think he can do what he likes. And south africa were incredible, hugely disappointing for england, but they played the type of rugby they have actually played all tournament. England just couldnt match them. And also, obviously being english we wa nted and also, obviously being english we wanted england to win, but when you see. Sometimes when sport is bigger than winning and losing, and i think it was for south africa, with that beautiful speech by the captain at the end, it was just wonderful. It was the most watched thing of the year, as well. 12. 8 million. I was certainly watching. It is the first full week of election campaiging, with Political Parties across the uk taking to the street to canvas for your votes. In wales, plaid cymru will set out its plans today in the hope of increasing the four seats out of a possible 40 they currently hold in westminster. The partys leader, adam price, joins us now. Thank you very much, good morning to you. I appreciate you spending your time with us on the programme this morning. We will talk about the election for quite some time in the build up to what happens in the middle of december. What is your opinion of the way that things will u nfold opinion of the way that things will unfold over the next few weeks . Well, i think too many people this election must seem like the worst Christmas Present ever. For us in wales, it is a golden opportunity for us to put our needs, our priorities, at the heart of the political agenda in a way that doesnt normally happen. And we have got huge problems that we need to fix in wales, rising child poverty, Life Expectancy falling, a creaking transport infrastructure. But how do we solve those problems . We dont solve them by simply putting Jeremy Corbyn Boris Johnson solve them by simply putting Jeremy Corbyn borisjohnson into downing street. We solve them by actually having the strongest ever welsh voice in westminster. Contrast the way that wales is often ignored, compare that to scotland, where for over a decade now the people of scotla nd over a decade now the people of scotland have been voting for their party, and that has forced scotland right up to the top of the political agenda. And thats what we need to do for wales, and that is the opportunity for us in the next six weeks. Can i say to you, there has been an accusation that wales is invisible in westminster, and westminster is not listening to the welsh people. Can i say, surely you are not listening to the welsh people either, because you are campaigning to remain and yet wales voted to leave in the referendum. Look, we have to be honest, either the labour or conservative brexit deal will ripped the heart out of the welsh economy, you know . And we cant afford to let that happen because we are already at the bottom of the uk Economic League table as it is. This will cause devastation to our economy. We put forward a compromise deal, keeping wales and the single market, crucially, because we are such an export intensive economy, keeping us in the customs union. Unfortunately there was no room for compromise on that, and under these circumstances, the best deal on offer for wales, we have to say, absolutely, is staying within the European Union. We are hugely reliant, dan, on a manufacturing sector, in rural wales on our agricultural sector. We cant afford to lose that cornerstone of our economy. It is best for us to have that final say referendum and ta ke have that final say referendum and take it back to the people, and we would be very strongly campaigning asa would be very strongly campaigning as a pro remain party. We are waless leading remain party. We wa nt waless leading remain party. We want to see the best future for our country, and that is ultimately an independent wales within the European Union, but now we have to keep wales and the European Union as it is. What about those people who would say they are passionate about their country but might be tempted to another party because of your stance . I absolutely respect peoples sincerity. Everyone has to be honest about where they stand on this. I have friends who are leavers, we still love each other as friends. It is important to emphasise that. There is so much negativity and politics at the moment. We can have different views but still respect each other. But we have to honestly say is a party, as the party of wales, our assessment is it is absolutely centrally important that in the six weeks we win the argument for a final say referendum and ultimately campaigning in that referendum for wales to remain in the European Union. We were speaking to John Bartlett from the greens, about conversations he is having both with the liberal democrats and yourselves about and electoral packs. How far progressed are those talks, with the greens and other parties as well . Yes, we have had those discussions, and we hope to be making an announcement, as democratic parties we need to consult with our members in the constituencies, but i have always said the pro remain parties need to find ways of working together. Sometimes you have to put the national interest, the party interest, above your narrow party interests. That is what i think people expect from political leaders, and that is what we hope to do. Because this is so important, dan. It is going to affect us for generations, and we need to make sure that we put the best case, as we are doing is a party, but if we can work with others, the other pro remain parties, sadly as we have heard labour does not regard itself as one of those, we will work with other pro remain parties, because it is so vitally important for the future of wales. And if there is a situation where you are potentially holding the balance of power, would you in order to fulfil that agreement, would you insist on a welsh referendum at some stage . An independence referendum . What we have set on that is that the people of wales should have the right to decide. So at whatever point the people of wales through their elected representatives in our own parliament decide now is the time to have that debate, there should be a veto in westminster. So there has beena similar veto in westminster. So there has been a similar discussion in the case of scotland. Actually, the welsh Labour Government have also said that the people of wales should have the right to decide. We agree. It shouldnt be for westminster to tell the people of wales you cant have a conversation about your future as a nation. Thank you for your time this morning. We have been talking about Lewis Hamilton. After Lewis Hamiltons success at the us grand prix, matt is at silverstone with the weather for us this morning. Not particularly great outside but certainly brilliant inside. Good morning to you. Behind me in a cabinet we have the helmets of schumacher, and beside me it is a 1992 winning car driven by nigel mansell, and this here is the suit, helmet and shoes worn by Lewis Hamilton when he won not only the grand prix here is elliston in 2015, but also another championship winner, a fantastic museum, very interactive and it is notjust celebrating all those who race cars, it is also those involved behind the scenes as well hoping to inspire a whole new generation of motor races, engineers, people involved in aerodynamics. We are chatting to the ceo Sally Reynolds later in the morning as well. Yes, i am in the drivers morning. Outside, not quite so dry. Let take a look at the forecast because it is a thoroughly wet day in the east today. That could be some flooding. This week there will be further rain at times as well. You will need a rain jacket, at times as well. You will need a rainjacket, and at times as well. You will need a rain jacket, and later you at times as well. You will need a rainjacket, and later you will certainly need a warm jacket because things are set to get colder as we get through the week. We start the week with low pressure in charge slap bang over the uk, so that is why there are showers around, but that weather front moving into eastern scotland will make the rain persist. The winds touching gale force and that enhances the risk of flooding later in the day. To the west of scotland, far north, you might avoid the rain altogether. Sunny spells. Same in Northern Ireland. There will be dry weather for england and wales but a few showers dotted around. It could be heavy and thunder in southern areas. Temperature is just about double figures for many of you, eight or nine degrees in the north of scotla nd nine degrees in the north of scotland at best. You have wind and rain today for the rain will be on the move tonight south into North Eastern part of england so things will turn dry over eastern scotland. Wendy in the northern and western half of the uk with winds like towards the south and east. Still one or two showers around. Temperatures tomorrow morning fairly similarto temperatures tomorrow morning fairly similar to this morning, around six to eight degrees for the vast majority. Tomorrow, a better day across eastern scotland. Windy and cold, the cold wind across much of Northern Ireland, far north and west of england and wales as well, showers dotted around maine towards eastern parts of england but for many it will be a dry and bright day. Best of the sunshine further north and west that you are. Starting to feel colder. There could be frost around on wednesday morning but a bright start for many. Cloud increases from the west as we go through the day. Outbreaks of rain through the day. Outbreaks of rain through Western Areas. Temperatures after a chilly start only around six to eight degrees for the vast majority of you. We will continue with that cold theme as they go through the rest of the week. Maybe something warm, a jumpsuit will be very act. Back to both of you. It had been billed as the answer to our energy needs, but fracking proved so controversial, the government says it will suspend the practice in the uk. Bens looking at this for us. This is quite a change. This was announced last week and the government says it will not grant any new licenses for fracking to ta ke any new licenses for fracking to take place. But it has stopped short ofa take place. But it has stopped short of a full band. This raises some serious questions about where our energy will come from in the future. I want to show you where we currently stand in terms of the electricity generated in this country. Around 40 of all our electricity is generated from fossil fuels so coal, oil and gas. The vast majority of that is gas just 1 is from coal and oil combined. 40 comes from renewables most of that is wind, and nuclear contributes the rest, around 20 . That is where our electricity comes from. And just how much nuclear will contribute is still a controversial issue the uk has 15 Nuclear Reactors but half are due to be retired by 2025. The government is now looking at what options it has and is committed to spending £20 billion on a new power station on the south coast. That could help solve some of our Energy Problems but it has been criticised for being an expensive gamble. How much we will have to pay for the energy that is created by it. A lot of people suggest we should be spending that money elsewhere, looking into things like renewables. What difference would fracking have made . Still quite a small percentage. Fracking is about getting gas out of the ground. You inject water, sand and chemicals and it breaks the rock and releases the gas that is there. Has been criticised for causing earthquakes and is basically why the government is saying it is too controversial, we will not proceed with it. But if you look at where we currently get our domestic heating from, 85 of homes in the uk use gas for heating. Gas is still the huge component of our energy and i think it will require something pretty significant to get us to change our habits, maybe subsidies from alternative sources of heating. Fracking was going to be a big part, contributing to that. We wouldnt need to import as much from abroad and it should have brought down prices. If you look at how much we spend on atypical bill, gas and electricity in the uk, more than £1100. Shale, fracking was going to help bring that down. We import a lot at the moment. Doing that domestically would have made it cheaper. It also would have made it cheaper. It also would have made it cheaper. It also would have reduced our reliance on overseas imports as well. A significant change as far as the government policy is concerned. They have said they are not going to grantany have said they are not going to grant any new licenses unless it can be proved to be safe and they are talking about those tremors and earthquakes that were caused. But they havent ruled out this entirely. They havent not issued an outright ban and so it is worth keeping an eye on this because i dont think it is a lot we have seen of it, but certainly for the time being there will be no new licenses granted. Thank you very much indeed. Very interesting. Shall we talk about one of our most loved actresses . We love her. From mary poppins to maria von trapp, Damejulie Andrews has played two of films most famous nannies. As well as lots of other people as well. Now, after an incredible career spanning more than 60 years, the hollywood legend has opened up about her life on and off the screen. What i love about this story, it was all the things that went back stage. We have seen the film but we didnt know what it took to make them. Here she is. Julie andrews, an absolute pleasure to see you. Thank you for talking to us. What i love about your book, we are so familiar with the movies, mary poppins and the sound of music and so many others but it is the back story about what happened on set. What a lot went on and that is the whole point of the book as i wa nted the whole point of the book as i wanted to describe the way it felt in the way it was when i was learning about making movies. And you were learning onset pretty much with mary poppins, went you . Very much. It was the first film i ever made. You were offered a job specifically by walt disney. When you offered when you offer that, you offered when you offer that, you are pregnant. I was in a broadway show and disney came to see the show and came back stage and he suddenly said what im interested in coming to hollywood to learn about mary poppins and would i be keen to maybe hear the songs and so on. I was thrilled and i said i would love to, but i have to tell you, i am pregnant and he said, thats ok, we will lay full we will wait. Something like nine months later, the scripts were ready and i had my baby and there we were. You moved onto the sound of music. Oh, captain you are home lets talk about the children. It comes out in the book that when you are filming a scene in the boat one of them couldnt swim yes, the little tiny girl who was so adorable. I was told at the very last second that if i could fall out of the front of the boat on the lake with the children, it would be a great help because the little one cannot swim. And so i said, what . so if you can get her as quickly as possible, it would be helpful. Talk about lots of Different Things, including going to psychoanalysis. That seemed to have helped . Yes, i needed some answers. The truth is that everything was coming up so fast and furiously and wonderfully, but i needed to sort out my head and it certainly did do that for me. Talk about your voice as well, saying singing is such a pa rt as well, saying singing is such a part of me that if the wonder and the joy of it were ever taken away, imight not the joy of it were ever taken away, i might not survive. You said that many years ago. We know you have had issues with your voice. It was devastating at the time. I had an operation which unfortunately was not successful and i dont sing any more. But thank god it happened in older years and not in my youth and. My daughter said to me, mum, have just found a new way of using voice now because it only did we begin writing together, but we have done, like, 32 books together in all, childrens books mostly. But i also. Bring as much music to them asi also. Bring as much music to them as i can. A couple of them have actually been turned into musicals, which is actually quite a surprise that life goes on. And rather wonderfully. It is lovely to meet you. Thank you for your time. It is a pleasure. Nice to meet you also. She is such a lovely calm person. I think you are either a mary poppins or a sound of music person. What do you think . I think you can have both. Of the two, sound of music was the one i watched over and over again. What do you think . My sisters love. I have seen it 150 times. The same with mary poppins. They love them both. Maybe you cant choose. The book is called home work and there are some wonderful stories. In the flying scenes in mary poppins, she had to wear a harness and she had bruises. She would still end up bruised despite the sheepskin. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Still loads to come on breakfast this morning. Good morning. Im asad ahmad. Undercover filming by bbc london has found that hundreds of minicab drivers may be working fraudulently after buying qualifications. Mcdonalds has sacked its chief executive for having a relationship with an employee, which is against company rules. Steve easterbrook from watford, who now lives in the United States, is credited for turning around the fast food chains fortunes since he took over four years ago. The relationship was consensual, but the company says he showed poorjudgement. Last year, mr easterbrook was paid over £12 million. Love it or hate, the London Underground has played a role in our lives for generations. And now theres a collection of photos from the 70s, which you can see. They were taken by Photographer Mike goldwater, at a time when, unlike today, it was rare to see anyone with a camera on the tube. It was also a time when people could smoke on trains and you bought tickets from large machines. A book which includes these pictures is out this month. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. This the travel situation now. Morning was my situation good. This morning was my situation is good. Good service on all lines. On the roads, knightsbridge is closed eastbound from Scotch Corner and Hyde Park Corner for emergeny repairs. And the a3 at west hill is closed from upper richmond road for gas works. Now, the weather with kate. Good morning. Well, weve had quite an unsettled wet and windy weekend, low pressure of course in charge. It will be for today as well. So, were waking up to a rather damn start. Damp start. Weve had some showers overnight, more showers today, but also, some sunny spells. Now, last nights showers are clearing away so well get some sunshine, some drier spells and then more showers will start to develop as we haed further through the afternoon. The temperature today somewhere between 11 and 13 celsius. The wind coming from the south. Now, overnight tonight, the wind stretches direction, switches direction, the showers start to move further south. Still the risk of some showers, though, overnight, but the breeze starts to come from the north, and that marks the change it is going to get much cooler over the next few days. The minimum temperature between 6 and 7 celsius. So, it is going to feel rather chilly through the course of tuesday. Largely cloudy, some showers still around and it stays rather unsettled, really, for much of this week. But the temperature does start to drop, staying in single figures towards the end of the week, so it is going to feel that little bit colder. You will need your umbrella for the next few days anyway. Im back with the latest from the bbc london newsroom in half an hour. Good morning. Welcome to breakfast, with dan walker and louise minchin. Our headlines today what a drive, mate. That is it champion of the world. Lewis hamilton clinches his sixth formula one world title. He is nowjust one behind Michael Schumachers record haul of seven. Health chiefs are warning Political Parties not to use the nhs as a weapon during the general Election Campaign. Mcdonalds fires its boss after he had a relationship with an employee. He said it shows poorjudgement. The match between everton and tottenam was overshadowed by a serious injury. Tottenhams son heung min was in tears as everton midfielder andre gomes suffered a fractured ankle. We will catch up with magnificent mike after he went tiddly up up, and tiddly down down in this weeks strictly dance off. And i will be talking magnificent men in their driving machines. Lewis hamiltons cloud are behind me, a championship winning day for him yesterday, learning a little bit more about that. And heavy rain to eastern scotland, sunshine and showers elsewhere. All the details here on breakfast. It is monday 4 november. Our top story Lewis Hamilton is celebrating his sixth formula one world title, after clinching the 2019 championships in the United States grand prix. His second place finish means he is now the second most successful f1 driver of all time, just one title behind Michael Schumachers record. Our Sports Correspondent joe wilson reports from texas. Everything in his view could be chaos it didnt matter. All Lewis Hamilton had to see was the end of this grand prix. To win the title, he didnt need to win here. Eighth place would do. But watch that silver car overtaking. And hamilton has passed him. Always racing. Sebastian vettel was soon out. Didnt wait for the ferrari mechanics he had his own diagnosis. I think that the suspensionjust failed. Yep, failed. Something broke. While hundreds work in a team, all for the driver. Hamiltons career was inspired by his father. Now, anthony watched as lewis gave everything again wouldnt even let his team mate passed him. Well, he is a rival. Eventually that was bottas going past, safely. Second place for hamilton meant he was champion again. What a drive, mate. That is it. Through the mask, we could onlyjust imagine his emotion. Then hamilton was back, safe on the summit. Well, he had never left it. Its just overwhelming, if im really honest. It was such a tough race today. Yesterday was a really a difficult day for us. Valtteri did a fantasticjob. Today ijust wanted to recover and deliver the 1 2 for the team. I didnt think that one was going to be possible, but i worked as hard as i could. I dont know, im just filled with so much emotion. On the all time greats, hamilton is second, with only Michael Schumacher winning more drivers titles. And why should hamilton, aged 34, stop here . Hes in a great place to equal michaels championship wins. And maybe even go for an eighth World Championship. Races, titles does this look like a man who is tired of winning . Six World Championships, sally some achievement. And it has been a lifetime in the making. Since he was a kid, when he was go karting, he has made Big Decisions throughout this life with the help of this father to get to this point. But it really is now about chasing those numbers. Lewis hamilton is nowjust one title behind one of motor racings greatest ever, Michael Schumacher. And whos to say he is not going to overtake the german . Lets see how their records compare. Well, schumacher has had more races than hamilton, 308 against 248. Yet hamilton boasts a better podium success rate, and while he has fewer victories than schumacher, its the british driver who has the higher win rate. But its schumacher who holds the most world titles, with seven compared to hamiltons six. I love what you have done there, those sort of top trumps. We have had Lewis Hamilton on the programme, and he has an interesting character. This is what this sport needs. It needs people with something about them. Do you remember when we interviewed him at Sports Personality and he brought this dog . You have to be a big star to be allowed to take your dog. |j you have to be a big star to be allowed to take your dog. I am not allowed to take your dog. I am not allowed to take my dog. Lewis, come on in. And he is in a very dominant position at the minute. Three on the spin, five of the last six. And mentally he is really tough. He has the sixth, we know he wants to get the sixth, we know he wants to get the seventh, but what he really wa nts the seventh, but what he really wants is eight. Well be speaking to British Racing driverjason plato shortly after 7 30am this morning. We recognise that theres a political potency around the health service. It matters to people. They care passionately about the health service. But its so important that we have a fair and balanced debate, that really presents the facts as they are to the public. To illustrate the scale of the challenge, nhs providers says there are now 4. 4 Million People in england waiting for routine operations, and there are 107,000 staff vacancies. That is 9 of the workforce. How to tackle these issues is what leaders of health trusts say they want to hear from Political Parties, with a proper debate on what is needed in a Taxpayer Funded Service to provide the right quality of care. It is the first full week of campaigning for next months general election, and parties are making some big pledges this morning. The conservatives are promising to raise the National Living wage, and labour talking about the nhs. Lets get the roundup from our Political Correspondent jonathan blake, who is at westminster. Some big promises out there this morning, good morning. Brexit might ta ke morning, good morning. Brexit might take a back seat this week, as parties focus on domestic issues. For conservatives it is low pay and confirmation that an announcement by the chancellor a few weeks ago to raise the National Living wage will go ahead. It will rise, the tory say, from £8. 21 per hour as it is at the moment to £10. 50 by 2024 for eve ryo ne over the moment to £10. 50 by 2024 for everyone over the age of 2021, which also lowers the age threshold, currently at 25. That is after a Government Commission review recommended the policy was the right course of action, and the conservatives say it is part of their commitment to ending low pay altogether. Labour have criticised the move, saying it is a derisory offer compared to their promise to raise the National Living wage immediately if they won the election, to £10 an hourfor eve ryo ne over election, to £10 an hourfor everyone over the age of 16 stop labours focused today is on the nhs and pointing to a rise in the number of cancelled operations. Almost 80,000 or so over the last year. That is a result of a freedom of information request made to hospitals across england and wales and they say the number of operations cancelled for staffing reasons has risen by a third over the last two years, which they say is unacceptable, and as a result of conservative cuts you can expect the conservatives at every turn in this election to point to their funding boost to the nhs, £2. 7 billion for six new hospital facilities and boost to the nhs, £2. 7 billion for six new hospitalfacilities and more money set aside for the new facilities in the future. In terms of other parliamentary business, the replacement forjohn bercow will be announced this week. Thats right, there are eight candidates in the running to take over as speaker. The election will happen in the chamber throughout the course of the day. Those candidates will make their pitch to mps followed by a series of secret ballots where the number of candidates is whittled down to one. The favourite at the moment seems to be lindsay hoyle, one of the current deputies, but it is notoriously difficult to predict. A very influential, and crucial role. We will find out later who will become the next fixture in that chairand a very become the next fixture in that chair and a very familiar face at westminster. That new speaker gets i think one day in the chair before parliament is dissolved. Millions of people in the indian capital, delhi, have been told to stay indoors to avoid the toxic, eye burning smog that has covered the city. The air pollution, which has exceeded the severe category, has been described as the worst so far this year. Schools have been closed and dozens of flights diverted because of poor visibility. The liberal democrats have said the staging of leaders debates for general elections should be based on independent rules. It is after they complained their leader, jo swinson, was not invited to take part in the first event. The party said that, under the existing system, the conservatives and labour were happy to do backroom deals to shut out other voices. The black Leather Jacket and skin tight trousers that Olivia Newton john wore in the film grease have been sold for £14,000 at auction. The film was released in 1978 and starred John Travolta alongside Olivia Newton john, who wore the famous outfit when the couple sang youre the one that i want at the fairground. The leather trousers were already two decades old when filming started, and a broken zip meant she had to be sewn into them. Ididnt i didnt realise it was because as it was broken, but i did know that she had to be sewn into them. |j think wejust missed she had to be sewn into them. |j think we just missed a she had to be sewn into them. |j think wejust missed a digit, it she had to be sewn into them. |j think we just missed a digit, it was £314,000. Either way, it think we just missed a digit, it was £314,000. Eitherway, it is think we just missed a digit, it was £314,000. Either way, it is an enormous amount of money. But i imagine if you went for sort of iconic film outfits, that is right up iconic film outfits, that is right up there. You are probably not going to wear them. I am not sure i could get into them. It is one of the most important jobs in politics, keeping mps in order and Parliament Running smoothly, and today mps will choose their next speaker of the house of commons, following the retirement ofjohn bercow. There are eight candidates in the running, all senior mps from across the labour and conservative parties. The winner will be decided in a vote this afternoon. So what challenges face the new speaker . Joining us now from westminster is hannah white from the institute for government. She once worked closely with former speakers Michael Martin and john bercow. Thank you forjoining us. How important is the job of speaker . M is really a crucial role, as we have seenin is really a crucial role, as we have seen in the course of the last few yea rs, seen in the course of the last few years, especially in the situation which parliament is in at the moment, when in recent years government hasnt had a significant majority. The decisions made by the speaker about what goes on in the house of Commons Chamber can make an impact to what parliament decides upon. So there are eight mps standing. They can all have their own campaigns, do they . They will make a pitch to the house, they will stand up in a random order selected by ballots and try to persuade mps. Those who are here and are not off on the campaign trail, why it should be them who should be given this very important job. And be them who should be given this very importantjob. And the process isa very importantjob. And the process is a secret ballot. Mps get to choose, even though the whips might try to be persuading them to vote one way or the other. Mps will have their own reasons to vote on the whips wont be able to see who they vote for because it is a secret ballot. Ok. You worked for the speaker, so tell us about the detail, the level of knowledge speaker has in order to be able to dojob. Speaker has in order to be able to do job. It is really important for them to understand notjust the rules of the house, but also the principles on which those rules are based. So the rules are quite complicated, as we have seen over the past few years, and it is really important to have someone who can make a judgement, who has to make a decision about what is in the interests of the house, given what the house has previously decided about how it wants to run itself. But at the same time they have a lot of support. They have plaques, they have staff behind the scenes, who every day will give them advice on what rules apply, what might come up and what decisions they might be required to make in the chair. How would you describejohn bercows approach and his use of language, for example . Well, i knewjohn bercow before he became speaker and i was actually surprised when he decided to stand because i thought one of the things he most enjoyed as a backbench mp was being able to give speeches in the house. And actually, i think we saw that come through in his approach to being speaker. He has probably talked more and made more opportunities both inside and outside the house to talk to the house, two points he thinks are important, but also to go outside, both in terms of education, and just generally talking to people about the role of parliament and trying to raise its profile in that way. And he has been, i dont know how to describe it, flamboyant in his use of language. In the way he talks. Can we expect the next speaker to be like that, or will he be very individual . I think every speaker is individual, they bring their own approach, and they react to what has gone before. Everyone came in off the back of the expenses scandal. He felt there was a job to do to rehabilitate the house at that point. The person who comes in after today will be also reacting to the way thatjohn bercow did the job in responding to that stop i think the job will also be massively shaped in the short term by the outcome of the election. If we see another minority government or a coalition or Something Like that, thejob government or a coalition or Something Like that, the job will be more significant. There will be more focus on them than if we get a majority government. In half an hour. Are they supposed to be independent . What is their role . Whatever party they stood for, they give up that Party Affiliation once they become speaker, they are meant to be impartial. There is a loose thing that they go backwards and forwards between the two main parties but thatis between the two main parties but that is really not any sort of inhibition. It could well be one of the conservative candidates that wins today, even though the conservative candidates that wins today, even thouthohn burke i was a conservative before he came speaker. There is a tradition that other parties dont stand against them in the general election . Other parties dont stand against them in the general election7m hasnt been universally observed. Nigel farage stood against him at one point and it does depend on who it is. Yes, the convention is that when you then stand for election, nobody stands against you, you are the speaker seeking re election and presumably will be a massive relief for whoever wins today. Tell us, do you have your money on anybody on particular . How is looking at this point . It seems there is a lot of support from across parties for lindsay hoyle, but Harriet Harman was an early front runner. Probably the most forward, most supported conservative candidate seems to me is eleanor lang, both lindsay and elinor are current deputies speakers so they have some experience in doing thejob. Which mps may think is important, and the important thing today because it is quite unusual we are voting for a speaker before an election rather than after an mps will have views about what is important to the speaker when they are treating their candidate today, was a wouldnt necessarily have if they were new to Parliament Coming in afteran they were new to Parliament Coming in after an election. That is very interesting. Voting takes place a little later. Thank you for your time this morning. A big decision. Really interesting. Were talking about Lewis Hamilton winning six formula 1 world titles. He stands behind Michael Schumacher. Matt is at silverstone with the weather for us this morning. Good morning, matt. Good morning. I am at silverton this morning. A brand new museum here. Notjust Lewis Hamilton inspiring a new generation, but hopefully this museum will as well. It goes all the way back. Is an original vehicle from the very first british grand prix in 1948. It was built in 1939 as well. Not just prix in 1948. It was built in 1939 as well. Notjust cars but motorcycles as well. This raised him from 1978. Something unique about this which i will tell you more about at the end of the forecast. Lets get on with the weather. You probably need something to stick on your lets get on with the weather. You probably need something to stick on your head to beat the rain off if your head to beat the rain off if you are in eastern parts of scotland in particular. Miserable day here today. Risk of flooding and strong winds to go with it. A week of occasional rain. Some sunny moments but what you will notice if things will turn colder and colder as the week goes on. Not particularly warm out there this morning but nothing unusualfor out there this morning but nothing unusual for the out there this morning but nothing unusualfor the time out there this morning but nothing unusual for the time of year. A bit of cloud around but mist and fog across eastern parts of england where the centre of low pressure is at the moment. The northern side of that the weather front pushing into eastern scotland, strong to Gale Force Winds, a windy day across scotla nd force winds, a windy day across scotland and later into Northern Ireland as well. Here into northern and Western Areas shelter from the wind, dry and sunny weather through. A scattering of showers most prone to southern and Western Areas. Some can be thundery and heavy. Temperatures up to 11 and 12 degrees. Just about into double figures, around seven or eight in some past of scotland. It will be cold in that wind as well. The wind will continue tonight but the rain will continue tonight but the rain will be on the move, pushing down into the far north of england. Showers around the peripheries of the countries. Mist and fog returns to Eastern England and we will see more of a breeze blowing across the western half of england and wales as western half of england and wales as we go into tomorrow. Temperatures to start the day roughly the same sort of thing as we have this morning. Tuesday, we will bright day across eastern scotland, windy, a few showers here and there, lots of cloud. Showers are most likely and for many a dry day, slightly lighter as well but starting to feel colder as well but starting to feel colder as those wins go northeast, many in single figures. A cold night will follow. By wednesday, a frost around to start the day. That is quite wide across the country. A bright start, cloud will start to increase from the western outbreaks of rain pushing in across Western Areas but it. The temperatures from rising too much. It will be a chilly day and widely temperatures in single figures. Rainjackets required and will be for the rest of the week. There is something unusual about this race helmet from 1978. If you ta ke this race helmet from 1978. If you take a closer look, there has been a hole drilled into the bay so he could have a cigarette without taking his helmet. A different era. Back to you both. That is absolutely fascinating, isnt it . You want it might break the integrity of the helmet. Slight health and safety as well. Amazing. Thank you very much. Now, phone signals. We are talking about that today. 5g, there is not many places you can get it. Jane is talking about this and the concerns about the new and bigger mobile phone mass that might be there without counsel mission. You are in birmingham where you can get 5g already. Good morning. When the first 5g masks went up, this is where they first went up. This was the first regional testbed for the government in 5g. Everyone is now available in cities like manchester, london, cardiff, edinburgh, belfastand it will come into another 20 cities and towns before christmas. That is the expect patient. But the government wa nts to expect patient. But the government wants to make this rollout much faster, much quicker. They want to make it easier. There is a Public Consultation that has been under way that comes to an end tonight, just before midnight that will remove the need for prior consent. This is what the government wants to see remove the government wants to see remove the need for prior consent to the other big phone masts and put these malls sell units that we are now going to need on almost every public building in the country where there is 5g to facilitate it. There has been some kickback from a handful of local authorities like glastonbury who say, hold on a second, we need to put the brakes on because we want more conclusive evidence from government that this is safe. Before we go any further, have a look at this quick 60 seconds guide to where we are at with 5g right now. From 1g, we have whizzed through the ages to. Ta da. 5g with signals already beaming into cities around the country and many are excited. It will be instant. Theres no loading times, no buffering, no waiting. Youre going to be able to watch the video straightaway without any lag or any stoppage. This is about more than downloads. Its about smart homes and smart cities. One example would be connected ambulances. So, having paramedics receive real time information from consultants to actually help patients on the ground. Thats life saving and life changing. But wait i dont even have one bar. We dont get 3g and theyre talking about 5g . Forget hot spots. 8 of the country is a total not spot. 25 of the country a partial not spot. While the government wants to relax planning laws to push ahead with the technology to fix this, campaigners in some parts of the country want the brakes slammed on. The government says the science is safe. Campaigners want more proof. The deadline for thoughts is end of play today. So, campaigners want more evidence in some parts of the country but the government says this. This is going to have profound implications for the economy and society. It is hard to kind of make this tangible. Professor, you havejoined us now, along with chris from a company that is getting into the very First Innovations of 5g. Lets try and make it tangible for people at home. Starting with you, chris. Give us an idea of what you are doing and what the future will look like, in your case, in education. We are using 5g so we can case, in education. We are using 5g so we can place Virtual Reality Education Apps into the cloud and actually be able to stream them from the application straight down to a vr headset so what that works with may be in schools, universities, you can actually have lots of people training in Virtual Reality of somebody from the us may be stepping into the Virtual Reality and training the classroom are people remotely and that is the advantage of being able to stream high and content with 56 which just isnt possible with 40 at the moment. Professor, can you give us an idea of how lives might be different ten, 20 years from now . It is an interesting question. Lets look at the Automotive Industry now and look at the cars. At the moment, cars are driving on their own. They could be driving on their own. They could be driving autonomously. What will that do . That will save lives if the computers reacted very quickly. 56 will enable that because of the bandwidth, because of the latency, because you can get information really quickly and action that very quickly. That is one of the quickest ways. When you hear about some areas and some fears about Health Concerns, the government is writing to local authorities saying, we need to local authorities saying, we need to not base any blocks on planning around Health Concerns because they are not aled. How do you feel about these arguments . That is interesting. We had radio, 36, 46, everything and all these ways around us at the moment, so what is the risk with 56 . There is absolutely no risk. There are a number of reports out. If you look at them, it is like eating pickled onions. There is very little risk in terms of what we can see. Thank you so much forjoining us today we really appreciated. One thing, there is another deadline today, actually, from the World Health Organization because science never sleeps. There is another deadline for submissions from academics and universities to get funding for more research into the Health Impact of this technology, in terms of fertility, cognitive ability and cancer, so the research will continue in this area, but the government hopes that the rollout will continue at ever faster speeds. Back to you. I love that line. Science never sleeps. Rightly so. See you later. And we have an interview with Dame Julie Andrews today. It was wonderful. I love the story she told us. We love those movies, mary poppins and the sound of music and those backstage things that happen. Backs gauge. Health and safety was not the same backstage. Backs gauge. Health and safety was not the same backstage. We have the man behind wallace and robert. Could they be making a comeback . Wallace and gromit. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning. Im asad ahmad. Undercover filming by bbc london has found that hundreds of minicab drivers may be working fraudulently after buying qualifications. Weve exposed colleges cheating tests which drivers must sit to get a licence. As a result, transport for london says itll immediately investigate over 1,500 applications. One college in east london offered to take the tests for a few hundred pounds. Youve been arranging qualifications for cash. Weve got you secretly recorded doing it. Why have you been doing it . Not me. Its not you . No. So, who is it then weve got secretly recorded . Not me. And you can see the full story on inside out london at 7 30 tonight on bbc one. A packed Wembley Stadium has seen the Houston Texans round off this years nfl london series with a 26 3 win over the jacksonville jaguars. This was the texans first visit to london, which means all but one nfl team have now played in london since the series began over a decade ago. Virtually every game has been a sellout in that time. Love it or hate it, the London Underground has played a role in our lives for generations. And now, theres a collection of photos from the 70s which you can see. They were taken by Photographer Mike goldwater at a time when unlike today it was rare to see anyone with a camera on the tube. It was also a time when people could smoke on trains and you bought tickets from large machines. A book which includes these pictures is out this month. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. Minor delays jubilee line mechanical issues with some trains. On the roads, in south east london, in Charlton Woolwich road is partially blocked at gallions road broken down car. And the a3 at west hill is closed from upper richmond road for gas works. Now the weather with kate. Good morning. Well, weve had quite an unsettled wet and windy weekend, low pressure of course in charge. It will be for today as well. So, were waking up to a rather damp start. Weve had some showers overnight, more showers today, but also, some sunny spells. Now, last nights showers are clearing away so well get some sunshine, some drier spells and then more showers will start to develop as we head further through the afternoon. The temperature today somewhere between 11 and 13 celsius. The wind coming from the south. Now, overnight tonight, the wind switches direction, the showers start to move further south. Va nessa Vanessa Phelps is on bbc london with her breakfast show. I will be back in half an hour on bbc one. Bye for now. Hello, this is breakfast, with dan walker and louise minchin. Here is a summary of this mornings main stories from bbc news health Service Leaders in england have warned the main parties against using the nhs as a political weapon during the general Election Campaign, saying they are already seeing the start of a bidding war. Chris hopson, the chief executive of nhs providers, which represents hospitals and other health trusts, says promises made in the heat of the election battle risk creating Unrealistic Expectations. It comes as labour releases data from a freedom of information request which suggests a huge increase in the number of cancelled operations because of staffing issues and equipment failures. To discuss this, we are joined from westminster by the Shadow Health and social care secretary, jonathan ashworth. Good to talk to you on the programme, as ever. Can i ask you about that freedom of information request, first of all. What are labour proposing if you become a labour proposing if you become a Labour Government, to resolve that issue . It is quite shocking, isnt it . Almost 80,000 operations cancelled, often cancelled on the day a patient was due to go into hospitalfor day a patient was due to go into hospital for the operation. Day a patient was due to go into hospitalfor the operation. And day a patient was due to go into hospital for the operation. And when we have asked the hospitals way they have been cancelling the operations, they say it is because they simply dont have the staff or the equipment is breaking down. This is a real problem across the nhs. We are short of 100,000 staff, 40,000 nurses, and we know that much of the equipment that hospitals have been using is out of date, and the repair bill they are facing has now hit x 5p. So what is labours response . First of all, we will give the nhs a properfunding first of all, we will give the nhs a proper funding settlement and in the coming days we will detail our plans about how much more money under a Labour Government the nhs will get. We have to recruit the staff as well. We will bring back a training bursary to recruit more nurses. Were going to expand training places for gps, family doctors, and we will sweep away this very bureaucratic regime that has been put in place is stopping the nhs recruiting properly internationally. There are even reports in the newspapers today that the nhs has asked to recruit internationally but the home office is blocking it because our nhs has always relied on nurses and doctors and other staff from across the world. You cannot lock that off just from across the world. You cannot lock that offjust because the home office dont want that to carry on any more. Can i ask, are you careful about the language you are using . Even this morning, when you are making the statement about the health service, bearing in mind what nhs providers have said about the weaponising of the nhs and empty promises being made by all sides in this Election Campaign, which then wont be fulfilled. Is that something you are conscious of . |j wont be fulfilled. Is that something you are conscious of . I am conscious of it, and Hospital Leaders and doctors liberals groups and nurses groups are right to hold us to account, and scrutinise Boris Johnson when he claims he claims he is rebuilding 40 hospitals and it turns out he is only rebuilding sex. They are right to put us under the microscope. But by the same token, i am passionate about the nhs, and im afraid i am angry. I am angry when a constituent of mine has his Bladder Cancer operation cancelled twice. I am angry that young people who are self harming, who are attempting their own life, are not getting the Mental Health support and care in a timely fashion, or are bounced around the country because there are no beds available for them anymore, because we have seen over 15,000 beds cut under the tories in the nhs. Though i am angry about that andi nhs. Though i am angry about that and i am passionate about that, because everybody has the right to decent healthcare. Nobody should be waiting longer and longer, in pain and agony, because their operation has been cancelled or the hospital cannot arrange it. So i am passionate, i am angry, but it is right that nhs leaders hold us to account. You say that, and yet within the first sentence of answering that question you talk about a promise from the conservatives that hasnt been fulfilled, or not in the right way. Iam not fulfilled, or not in the right way. I am not accusing you of this this morning, what i am saying is, with that in mind, everybody has to be careful, dont they, about how you use your language around the nhs. You are trying to make a point, but at the same time it is hard to try to not score political points against others, because you will make promises about the nhs, and those who work in it, and the ceo of nhs providers, chris hopson, says we have had these promises from all sides and they are not fulfilled, and the nhs is used as a political football in times like this. Ella maxwell, i understand chris hopsons sheer frustration because he represents nearly all of the hospitals, not just represents nearly all of the hospitals, notjust acute, but all of the hospitals, and the hospitals are gearing up again for a desperately difficult winter. We could have 300,000 patient, often elderly, often vulnerable, languishing on trolleys in corridors. I mean, it is heartbreaking what happens in a hospital that wintertime, isnt it . Yesterday we heard that downing street is recruiting more spin doctors to help the tories get through this winter crisis. They shouldnt be recruiting spin doctors, they should be recruiting real doctors in our nhs. And that is the problem at the moment. The investment hasnt gone in at sufficient levels, and we are short of so many staff. Talking about empty promises, can i ask you about what you just said there . How much money will you be putting in, where will it be coming from, and how many will it be coming from, and how many will you be recruiting to make these changes to the nhs . On the specific amount we will be putting in, we will be announcing that in coming daysin will be announcing that in coming days in our Election Campaign. We will be putting in more than the conservatives, we wont be cutting Public Health budget by £800 million, we will be putting more into Public Health, and we will also be funding the Adult Social Care sector. Because one of the big pressures on the nhs at the moment is the fact that social care, the support that many elderly people get in the wider community, has been savaged by billions and billions of pounds worth of cuts. So we will be putting more money into social care as well, we will be announcing the specific figures in the coming days and this Election Campaign, and on theissue and this Election Campaign, and on the issue of staffing, we are short so many staff. Were going to bring back a training bursary so we can recruit 20,000 extra nurses and midwives. We will expand gp training places 5000, and we think that will allow us to deliver 20,000 extra gp appointments in our local communities. So in the coming days you will see lots of detail from the labour party about our plans to rebuild the nhs, because at the moment, when you have 4. 5 Million People in the waiting list, 600,000 of them waiting beyond 18 weeks for treatment, and when you have 32,000 people waiting beyond two months for cancer treatment, my word, we have got to do something to turn the nhs around after a decade of being pushed into the ground. Jonathan ashworth, appreciate your time this morning, and we will look forward to those details in the next few days, as well. Coming up on the programme, matt will have the weather. There is a reason why we have sent him there, isnt there . It is not random, is it . Something rather special happened last night. More on our top story now and that sixth World Championship for Lewis Hamilton. Lets go back to silverstone where we can speak to british touring car champion jason plato. Good morning to you, jason. I know you are actually there to celebrate all that is good about british motorsports. What great timing. Do you know, we are on the back of something really quite special. Lewis is a real star, and he has just clenched his sixth World Championship literally a few hours ago. He is a member of the British Racing drivers club, which is the whole of silverstone, and special times, and thank god we have got rid of that nonsense we were listening to just of that nonsense we were listening tojust a of that nonsense we were listening to just a few minutes ago. Dear me. Lets celebrate something really special. Well, lets talk about lewis a little bit. He is certainly a personality, isnt he . He has not a lwa ys a personality, isnt he . He has not always been well love. He is quirky, but he is very honest about himself well loved. What is it for you that makes him so special . Do you know what . He is. You know, we are witnessing greatness at the moment. You know, he is a consummate professional. You know, he cares enormously about what he does. And. You know, he is incredibly talented. And whether. You know, whether theres bits of him we like or bits of him we dont like, whatever it may be, we cant take anything away that he is incredibly gifted, very talented, and given everything for his sport and is very, very, very worthy as a champion. A six time world champion. Incredible achievement, jason. It is lovely to talk to you. I know there are lovely to talk to you. I know there a re lots of lovely to talk to you. I know there are lots of things happening at silverstone today, celebrating all thatis silverstone today, celebrating all that is great about british motorsport. Hamilton inspires that kind of enthusiasm from people. He has done something incredible. He has done something incredible. He has got to six, he wants to get to seven to equal Michael Schumacher, but really, lets face it, it is all about getting to number eight for Lewis Hamilton. Ultimately to be on top of the podium ahead of the great Michael Schumacher. Everton midfielder andre gomes will undergo surgery on a fractured ankle today, suffered in his sides 1 1 draw with tottenham. We wont be showing the incident, which had players in tears in the immediate aftermath. Joe lynskey was watching the match. Even the premier leagues superstars are only human. Evertons cenk tosun had just seen his team mate suffer a horrific leg injury. This match had finished in a draw. In truth, the scoreline was a sideshow. Spurs hadnt won away in the league since january. They started this match in 13th place. But, with dele allis opener, they hoped their season was kickstarting. Like his team, allis personalform has been slow to get going. The england midfielder then almost gave away a penalty. It took the var officials three minutes to decide this wasnt handball. But soon the argument was put in perspective. Evertons portugese midfielder andre gomes fell to the ground. Goodison park couldnt look. Son was the spurs player involved. A red card for the south korean almost felt like a mercy. The time it took gomes to safely leave the field gave everton 12 extra minutes to find a goal. It came at the last, through tosun. But, with what had just happened, he and this stadium had new priorities. Those who saw it up close need every comfort. There was a brilliant performance from kenyas Joyciline Jepkosgei at the new york marathon. She won the womens event in what was her first ever competitive race at that distance. She almost broke the course record, as well. Not bad for yourfirst not bad for your first try. |j not bad for your first try. I tell you what, you are just buoyed by the music and that. It is an incredible atmosphere. I suspect that carried her along. Music all the way round . Except when i got there, they were packing up and going home. But when she was there, they wouldnt have been. The chief executive of mcdonalds has been fired after having a relationship with an employee. So what are the rules . A little out of breath. It is an interesting story, it has sort of turned mcdonalds around, the last few years, hasnt he . He has sort of one of these british bosses who flies under the radar. He is a global boss of mcdonalds and a lot of people in this country wont know he is doing that. And you are right, really crucial to turning around the fortunes, revamping stores, changing the menu, and all that sort of thing. The share price at mcdonalds has doubled during his time as chief executive. So he has been a huge success there. But it has all ended a bit embarrassingly today, because he has quit the firm, been fired, we are not quite sure exactly who has decided that he will leave. Because he had a relationship with a member of his team. Now, the relationship, we are told, was consensual, there was no kind of impropriety there. But it did fall foul of mcdonalds rules, and they have strict rules saying that you cant date anyone or have a relationship with anyone of whom you are a boss. And that is pretty normal in organisations, because, you know, look, we spent so much time in the office, in the workplace. The chances of you meeting someone there are pretty high. And firms have a lot of rules in place, for obvious reasons, to make sure that it doesnt end badly. And i suppose there are two real elements here. Of course, it could go very well, but then that could lead to accusations of favouritism or preferential treatment or someone being promoted unfairly. If the relationship goes wrong, of course, there are all the implications for things like lost productivity, a bit of drama in the office, you know, that person is not speaking to that person. Maybe even that there are accusations of harassment, and potentially lawsuits that could follow. And in this case, in the mcdonalds case, of course, it has led to the departure of a very successful chief executive. This is him, Steve Easterbrook. So we have been looking into what the rules are, and it is quite interesting. They vary from organisation to organisation. But essentially, basically, if you are in a position of power, if you are a boss, you should dating a member of your team or anyone you manage. If you are normal member of staff, like all of us, you basically have to declare it to your boss so they know what is happening. Loads of you getting in touch with us today about it. I have some, yes. Heidi says i wouldnt date a boss, daisy says i married my colleague. These other ones i like particularly, because loads of people have told us they met people. I met my husband at work 20 years ago, still going strong, with a 15 year old son. Sarah says i met my husband at work, have been married ten years. Another says we were together in an operating theatre. Many people dont even realise were married. I suppose that is the interesting thing. If you are in a relationship, against rules, one of you, presumably, has to leave. Yes, and there are guidelines for bosses about this, and if you fessed up and basically tell your bosses, they can help move one of you. If one of you is in help move one of you. If one of you isina help move one of you. If one of you is in a position of responsibility over the other, may be moving you to a Different Department or giving you a Different Department or giving you a Different Department or giving you a differentjob. But of course, that assumes that there is a job to go to, and also that you want to face up to, and also that you want to face up about the relationship in the first place. There are so many m essa g es first place. There are so many messages about people who met their wives, husbands. Michael says ive met both of my wives at work. Not going to ask too much about that one, michael. I hope one at a time. I was best man at a wedding last weekend, with two people who worked together at rolls royce, but they worked in different teams. And i think it is fine, look, fess up. And it is inevitable. We are going to meet people in work because we spend so much time at work. I love the elaborate dropping people at the end of the road. Thank you very much. Not that it goes on here, of course. Of course and if it was, i would be the last to know. Iam i am intrigued now. After Lewis Hamilton claimed his sixth world title, matt is at silverstone with the weather for us this morning. It sounds like he claimed it, he didnt actually win it. You know what i mean. We are in the silverton experience, a brand new museum which shows Lewis Hamilton and all those amazing sportspeople who raise cars, and the thousands who work behind the scenes. A big kudos to them, the whole team behind Lewis Hamilton. It is more than one person that brings a championship home. We have all the memorabilia from years of motorsport, a section to inspire the next generation of engineers as well. Get hands on involvement what goes into aerodynamics, into the engines and suspension as well. We will take a closer look at that in the next half an hour or so. I am indoors, but outside it is quite dry. Quite a bit of cloud for many of you. The forecast for today and through this coming week will contain some rain at times in the forecast will get colder as we go through the week, particularly from wednesday onwards. It will feel distinctly colder. Todays rain comes courtesy of an area of low pressure centred across the uk. Clouds form, so you will need something warm. A weather front is sliding into eastern scotland. This is of greatest concern today, stronger Gale Force Winds and the risk of flooding across eastern scotla nd risk of flooding across eastern scotland later on. Shelter from risk of flooding across eastern scotland later on. Shelterfrom that in other parts. Sunshine elsewhere, morning mist and fog and east midlands, gradually starting to clear. We will see showers crop up here and there. The odd rumble of thunder. Temperatures in the south between 12 and 13 but single figured temperatures in the north of scotla nd temperatures in the north of scotland and that is coming to all of us later on. Because a north easterly wind developing across scotland today, quite strong at times, will gradually push the rain further south into northern parts of england but take colder air further and further south. A few showers around the peripheries where wins and the risk of mist and fog into tomorrow morning. Damages tomorrow morning, we have the breeze blowing so not vastly dissimilar to this morning. Most places from six to eight degrees as you start your Tuesday Morning commute. Tuesday, a drier and brighter day, a few showers around in Eastern England and later in the far north of scotla nd and later in the far north of scotland the wind will be more noticeable across parts of western england and wales compared with today, and temperatures starting to drop into single figures as your high for the afternoon. As a rain clears mse clear skies to take us into wednesday, quite a chilly start with the widespread frost rain. Frost around. Outbreaks of rain developing as well but temperatures will struggle to live up and actually start. Most of the country will say temperatures only around six to nine degrees and that cooler theme will continue down as the go through the rest of this week. Back to you both. Thank you very much, and hopefully you will go outside. It really looks wonderful in there as well. As the general Election Campaign gears up for its first full week, Political Parties are being warned not to use the nhs as a political weapon. That is what we were talking tojohn as hworth that is what we were talking tojohn ashworth about. Nhs providers, which represents hospitals and other health trusts, says theres a danger the public will be let down by unrealistic promises made in the heat of the campaign. Joining us now from westminster is the work and pensions secretary therese coffey. Thank you forjoining us. We hear this morning from doctor was talking about the nhs being Unrealistic Expectations and empty promises. Will that be something that conservative party will abide by and not recognise the nhs . Peoples priorities are about things like health, education, law and order, the environment, and of course, conservatives will, in the election, be focusing on how we believe we can continue to invest and do better for believe we can continue to invest and do betterfor patients in the nhs by supporting our Clinical Professionals and everyone who helps in that regard. Of course they are not the only issues. One of the issues dominating is the difference between the conservatives and labour and getting brexit done to allow us to spend even more time focusing on theseissues to spend even more time focusing on these issues as well as raising wages of people, they are also very important in this election. Lets focus on the nhs because the election had hardly been announced before the Prime Minister is there with his sleeves rolled up in a hospital. It seems clear, and we have talked about operations being cancelled. It seems clear the nhs is a very much a priority for people at home but also for the parties. Will you take care about the languages used and the promises made . The promises are genuine. We have increased the budget for nhs and thatis increased the budget for nhs and that is why we made these commitments. Six hospitals are ready to go to get on with that construction. 34 other hospitals getting in place of their Business Plans for the future. It is important we make sure we are investing in the nhs for the benefits of patients. There are other things we are trying to do to make sure people can get to see theirgp make sure people can get to see their gp more easily. It is not about trying to use this as a political football. It is very much the priority of the conservatives to try and make sure our nhs, which is very much cherished, is well invested in and delivering for patients. Lets pick up on the point that the labor party were making this morning, operations were cancelled because of no staff, Staff Shortages and broken equipment. That was on the frontline. What will you do about that happening . The government doesnt run every single individual hospital. We do provide funding through its chief executive to allocate around the country, recognising the health needs and equipment needs but i know man hancock and Boris Johnson equipment needs but i know man hancock and borisjohnson have been very clear that they are happy to continue and have invested much more capital as well as ongoing annual spend to make sure that patients and indeed the Clinical Professionals have the equipment they need. We have the equipment they need. We have seen more money announced to make sure that people can get Cancer Screening equipment into hospitals right around the country. It is about making sure that we use the resources in order to try and tackle those sorts of illnesses early so that people have that better quality of life and we can do that by continuing to invest in the nhs. We can only do that if we have a Strong Economy and that really matters that the conservatives tend to be the party that clear up labours mess about the economy, more people are unemployed at the end of the Labour Government than the beginning and those sorts of things really matter in this election as well, and one of the things we announced today formally is a National Living wage going up to £10 50 x 2020 and because we are wanting to help people who work in terms of the National Increase in the wage and also things like the tax allowance having gone up, so there are Different Things we are doing to make sure we have a Strong Economy, which will help investment in the nhs. The Foundation Talking this morning, we understand that you are going to end benefit for next year but they are talking specifically about that same working age benefits will keep pace with rising prices means there will be no increase in living standards. Those in need of extra support will continue to be left behind. What is your response to that . The conservatives have believed that the best way to get out of poverty is to work. We have 3. 6 million more people in work since 2010 and we are seeing finally wages starting to rise over the last 18 months and of inflation. It has taken some time to get that turnaround. The has been boosted by things by the introduction of the National Living wage in 2016 which we have continued to increase. An increase was earlier this year. We will continue to strive to make sure we help people get better and Higher Quality paid work and this is one of the mechanisms that we have announced formally today. Can i also ask you, the possibility of Boris Johnson rolling out a so called pact with the brexit party, we understand nigel phage talking yesterday that they will have candidates in every single constituency. Is it right to rule out that kind of thing at this point . There is only one party that will make sure brexit is done and thatis will make sure brexit is done and that is the conservative party. We have seen some delay from labour and i genuinely believe that nigel virage risks being the man who through array brexit when it is there to be done. Farage. He is getting criticism. It is not for me to decide what the brexit party does but ive generally believe the voters of this country want to get exit and so this can be less on the airwaves than it is now, we focus on priorities and it is only by backing the conservative government that those of the people can make sure that the 2016 referendum result is honoured. Will it be the position in a few weeks time that perhaps is ruled out . There is no way that the conservatives will be doing a packed with the brexit party. That has been made clear by borisjohnson. We are going to fight every seat because we area going to fight every seat because we are a National Party and we need to make sure we have a conservative government making sure we get brexit done as well is having a Strong Economy to make sure that we continue to invest in peoples priorities. Thank you for your time here this morning. It is fast approaching eight oclock. Still to come for you this morning. We will talk about the emotional tweet sent by Patty Mcguinness after he was challenged for using a disabled parking space for using a disabled parking space for his autistic children. Lets take a look at the travel situation now. There are minor delays on thejubilee line there are mechanical issues with some trains. Elsewhere there is a good service. And the a3 at west hill is closed from upper richmond road for gas works. Now, the weather with kate. Good morning. Well, weve had quite an unsettled wet and windy weekend, low pressure of course in charge. It will be for today as well. Im back with the latest from the bbc london newsroom in half an hour. Good morning, welcome to breakfast with dan walker and louise minchin. Our headlines today what a drive, mate. And it is racing machines rather than flying machines for me at silverstone, celebrating all things Lewis Hamilton. For some of you waterproofs will be required today, especially in eastern scotland. I will have your full forecast coming up will have your full forecast coming up here on breakfast. Its monday, 4th november. Our top story Lewis Hamilton is celebrating his sixth formula one world title, after clinching the 2019 championships in the United States grand prix. His second place finish means hes now the second most successful f1 driver of all time just one title behind Michael Schumachers record. Our Sports Correspondentjoe wilson reports from texas. I didnt think that one stop was going to be possible, but i worked as hard as i could. I dont know, im just filled with so much emotion. On the all time greats, hamilton is second, with only Michael Schumacher winning more drivers titles. And why should hamilton, aged 34, stop here . Hes in a great place to equal michaels championship wins, and maybe even go for an eighth World Championship. Races, titles does this look like a man who is tired of winning . Six World Championships, sally, some achievement. He is not going to stop is he . No, he does not look like a man who is ready to stop and he is chasing not just no seven, but no eight. An incredible achievement. You have to think about the mental toughness he has had to have to get to this point. It hasnt been plain sailing. He started carting as a kid. But he has been consistent and he is one title behind one of racings greatest, Michael Schumacher and who is to say he wont joer take greatest, Michael Schumacher and who is to say he wontjoer take him. Lets see how their records compare. Well, schumachers had more races than hamilton 308 against 248. Yet hamilton boasts a better podium success rate and while he has fewer victories than schumacher, its the british driver who has the higher win ratebut its schumacher who holds the most world titles, with seven compared to hamiltons six. I love that you have done a brea kfast i love that you have done a breakfast top trumps. Two champions. We have to wait until the end of his career. He has won three on the spin. He will keep going. He has a decent car. He has a great car. I love, that decent car. Lewis hamilton Service Leaders have warned political leader not to use the nhs asa political leader not to use the nhs as a political weapon. They say there is a danger the public will be let down by unrealistic promises. Lets get the latest from our Political Correspondent. We have spoke on the the labour party and the conservative party, both addressing the idea from doctors that the nhs maybe used as a weapon of some sorts. Morning, yes, we have seenin of some sorts. Morning, yes, we have seen in the last few days that the nhs will be front and centre in the Election Campaign and that is nothing unusual. It is such an important issue to voters across the uk as important issue to voters across the ukasa important issue to voters across the uk as a whole. The parties will always make promises about its future and try to present themselves as the party that can be trusted with the nhs. But the warning we are hearing from nhs providers who represent hospitals is that parties shouldnt be making promises they cannot keep and that it is all very well having a debate about the nhs and its future and that is the right thing to do, but that can be counter product when the difficulties the nhs are facing are overdramatised and parties are making promises that theyjust wont be able to keep and we have been hearing from the main parties on this. On the conservative side, the work and pensions secretary said as far as the conservatives are concerned, the promises theyre making will be held to. The promises are genuine. We have already increepsed the budget for the increased the budget for the nhs. Six hospitals ready to go, to get won that construction and 34 other hospitals in place with their Business Plans for the future. It is important that we make sure we are investing in the nhs for the benefits of patients and there are other things that we are trying to do to make sure people can get to see their6p do to make sure people can get to see their 6p more easily and it is not about trying to use it as a political football. As far as labour are concerned, they say they will be setting out the detail of their plan for the nhs setting out the detail of their plan forthe nhs in setting out the detail of their plan for the nhs in the coming days, but the Shadow Health secretary today said on breakfast that the labour party will, can be trusted with the nhs and they too will stick to their promises. Well, we will give the nhs a proper funding settlement and we will detail our plans about how much more the nhs will get. But we have got to recruit the staff. We will bring back a training bursary to recruit more nurses and sweep away this bureaucratic regime that has been put in place that is stopping the nhs recruiting properly internationally. We have seen the Different Party lines shaping up, also there is another election today for speaker of the house of commons . Thats right, eight candidates in the running to replace john bercow as speaker. A very important role. Parliaments top official and as we have seen with john parliaments top official and as we have seen withjohn bercow, the ability to make controversial decisions that can have an impact on the course of legislation going through parliament. There will be a pitch to all mp5 from the candidate and a round of secret ballots and we will find out who will be the new speaker. Thank you. The leather trousers were already two decades old when filming started, and a broken zip meant she had to be sewn into them. A trousers fact for you this morning. The comedian and tv presenter Paddy Mcguinness has hit out on twitter, after a stranger challenged him for parking in a disabled space with his autistic children. The father of three took to social media, writing lets get more on this now from paddys wife christine mcguinness. Good morning, thank you for coming in. We will talk about that incident ina in. We will talk about that incident in a moment, how often have you experienced that with your children . I deal with it experienced that with your children . Ideal with it every weekend, normally my husbandnt there, and i was normally my husbandnt there, and i was glad he was, because the man was appingry angry about the situation. Most of the time people will question why are you parked in this space. I try and educate people and ta ke space. I try and educate people and take any opportunity to tell people about autism, because it is the only way we can help people understand and most of the time people are calm and most of the time people are calm and they will apologise and say, im sorry and leave me alone. But in is in instance, thank god my husband was in instance, thank god my husband was there, because the man was not going to let it go. He pointed out none of us looked disabled and we shouldnt be parked there. We tried to explain. But he wasjust quite aggressive. So thank god my husband was aggressive. So thank god my husband was there to deal with it. It must be upsetting to have to explain yourself. It is awfulwe be upsetting to have to explain yourself. It is awful we should never have to explain anything. We are open minded and understanding and we are realistic, we understand that people cannot always see autism, we can spot it, because we understand it so well. But we understand it so well. But we understand not everyone can see it. But you can see the blue badge, you could see that. He pointed that out. He knew it was there. He didnt need to keep asking. It is difficult for us tojust leave to keep asking. It is difficult for us to just leave the house with our three children any way and when peachest people are approaching us and questioning us, we need dont need that, it is difficult enough. I ushered the children to one side. So they see this happening, does it impact on them . Thank god theyre unaware. They dont know even theyre autistic. When we are trying to explain to people, it is in the back of my mind, i have these three people that one day i will have to explain it to them. I would adults to understand more. I think 0k not everyone understands autism and they cant see it. But everyone can be kind and polite and more understanding. The fellow that was challenging you, was he a blue badge user. He was and he looked mobile to me, but user. He was and he looked mobile to me, but i would never question anyone with a blue badge, because not all disabilities are vizable. How useful is it being able to park. I have twin six year old and a three year old who diagnosed yet. I have a badge for one of children, because he has hyper mobility. Sticking with the autism, it really affects their anxiety if we are driving ina affects their anxiety if we are driving in a car park and they have no sense of danger. They have no road safety awareness. So they wouldnt think twice about walking out into a busy car park or a road. Im pretty much always at this particular place that we went to, usually im there with my children and fortheir usually im there with my children and for their safety and me to be able to park near the door, allows me to get out of the house on my own with the irn ch. Children. Iwant to be able to do that on my own. And this one place, because the disabled spaces are right at the front door, usually i can take the children there alone and it is fine. It is just other people who make it difficult. Did your husband have to think twice about putting it on social media. No it is positive, but i was thinking about that, it is also really sad and upsetting that this is big news. Because it shouldnt be. We have had hundreds and hundreds of people saying, we are the same, we deal with this daily. It is not fair. It is not right. What needs to change . Presumably you need attitudes to change . Yes i think if you can see the blue badge and especially when im there on my own with three children, dont approach us, just leave us to it. We are parked there, because we are entitled to be. I would never use the space without the children. I dont need to. I dont want to use this space. Im not proud of having a blue badge. I haveit not proud of having a blue badge. I have it because my children need it for their safety. That is why we have it. People will object to more labels in some way, if you had a difficult coloured badge, would that bea difficult coloured badge, would that be a good thing do you think . So people would know they have hidden disabilities. I was thinking about this, but if we are getting people to struggle to recognise the blue badge that has been around for ever, how long will it take people to recognise if we changed it for disabilities that are hidden, you will have to teach the world about this badge. Did the bloke leave you alone in the end. He hung around for alone in the end. He hung around for a while. He kept going on and he said, you dont look disabled. There was said, you dont look disabled. There was plenty of spaces there. So he had somewhere to park and there was spaces for other people. We werent getting in anybodys way. He wouldnt let it go. Sol getting in anybodys way. He wouldnt let it go. So i left it with hi husband and took the children inside. Does it put you off going out . It does and it shouldnt too, because it is so difficult to go out with the three children. It helps, but it doesnt make things better. It helps a lilt bit. It is sad and it is upsetting there is hundreds of people in the same situation. It shouldnt be like that. Really good to speak to you. And let us know what you think about that. Send us a message on social media. Matt is at silverstone with the weather for us this morning. It looks glorious. Yes we are at silverstone, that is the silverstone experience, the new museum, but we have a view of the old and new circuit. There is the old circuit. That is now redundant. Part of it was an old airfield and behind me luffield, named after the abbey that was here, the most important bit, the big money area and the British Racing drivers club own silverstone and they have their club house behind as well. You can imagine the sounds here during some of the important f1 grand prixs and here also all celebrating Lewis Hamiltons victory. The sun is starting to come out. Here wis the forecast. Is the forecast. There will be some sun and some wet weather. The big story for most of you is it is getting colder through the coming days. Low pressure in charge, that is a big area where you see the shower clouds pop up. On the Northern Edge across scotland, windy and that front pushing in will bring persistent rain. There could be some problems in eastern scotland with a combination of Gale Force Wind and rain. West of scotland and Northern Ireland may avoid the rain. Some sunshine in england and wales. But some showers to come. Particularly across some southern and Western Areas where they could be heavy. Temperatures like yesterday getting into double figures for a few of you. Still single into double figures for a few of you. Stillsingle figures into double figures for a few of you. Still single figures in scotland. It is windy tonight in the north and breezy in the west. Rain in the east of scotland is on its way to Northern England for tomorrow morning. Temperatures similar to last night around six to nine degrees. There could be some hist and fog in Eastern England to start tomorrow. Central and eastern areas cloudy with some further rain. One or two showers in the west. More drier and brighter weather tomorrow. Still breezy and it will feel colder. Certainly through tuesday night into wednesday a chilly night with a widespread frost. Bright enough start to wednesday, but clouding over from the west and more rain will push in and just take a look at the temperatures for wednesday afternoon, other than one or two spots in the south where we could hit ten degrees, most in single figures and you will need your big coat for the rest of the week, because it will feel chilly with further rain at times. Maybe next weekend looking bright at the moment. But that could change. That is how it is looking from the glorious surroundings of silverstone, it is not a grand prix car behind me, i think it is a tractor cleaning the track a bit disappointing. Going at least 20mph there hes done it again brea kfasts mike bushell danced his socks off last night to make it through to another week of strictly come dancing. Impressed with their entertaining charleston, the judges voted unanimously to save mike and katya over vicountess Emma Weymouth and her dance partner aljaz, who danced the samba. Well speak to mike and his wife emily injust a minute, but first lets remind ourselves of how the weekend unfolded. A. Anew. A new week, staying positive, putting the hours in and focussing on learning a new dance. Katya has said the charleston could suit me. Mike isa said the charleston could suit me. Mike is a showman and he loves to give his everything. There is a chance to enjoy this dance. These numbers are in your comfort zone. Cheeky charlie, funny, crazy, wonderful 10096, cheeky charlie, funny, crazy, wonderful 100 , your cheeky charlie, funny, crazy, wonderful 10096, your energy is off the charts. That dance was your dance. You war musical comedy man and that proves it. I loved it. Thank you. Shall we take off again. The couple in the bottom two who will compete in the bottom two who will compete in the dance off is mike and katya. Emma and aljaz. I would like to save mike and katya. Nigh mike and katya. We have to say goodbye to emma and aljaz. Now mike and emily, good morning. The tea pot at the ready. Mike we speak each week about strict live. Emily strictly. What was it like, emily he has made it through ain . Like, emily he has made it through again . He survived another week. It was very again . He survived another week. It was very tense this week and we were hoping he would avoid the dance off. I but we had to endure the tension again. Mike youre getting really good at these dance offs. It will be relentless for you . Good at these dance offs. It will be relentless for you . Well its become like a sunday tradition, like a sunday roast. Somebody joked like a sunday tradition, like a sunday roast. Somebodyjoked they will be releasing the box set of it like poldark. But this week we were quite a way off the bottom two in terms ofjudges scores. Katya said it is your dance you should get good scores. While we were pleased with 30,1 scores. While we were pleased with 30, i made a couple of errors in the saturday night dance. I got distracted by motsi whooping, because one of steps had gone well andl because one of steps had gone well and i got distracted and put a foot wrong. I knew and i got distracted and put a foot wrong. I knew i had made a mistake and the judges picked up on that. So we we re and the judges picked up on that. So we were fourth from bottom, but it is notjust we were fourth from bottom, but it is not just about the judges, it we were fourth from bottom, but it is notjust about the judges, it is a public vote. So saffron and emma and anton rose above us and we dropped into the bottom two and there we were again. But the charleston is such a fun dance, it is awkward and meant to look goofy, it was right up my street, i could afford to look a bit musical comedy craig called it. It was a happy dance to do again. Although there we re dance to do again. Although there were a couple of risky lifts and the flying bit at the end, but on the Second Time Around the dance off, luckily, i listened to the judges, they said do it again and dont make mistakes and that is what i did. You can hold your head up high. All four judges said we think youre good to go through. Emily you mosted about the criticism and the posted about the criticism and abuse mike was getting. Speaking to you, i know you love the programme, have some of the things that have been said tarnished your enjoyment of strictly . No, i love the show. Iwas really disappointed last week the backlash and we decided to make a slight stand by responding, it has been so positive this past week, the support we have had has been uplifting. And somebody says, you know, they. That my post affected them, because they had been guilty of lashing out and they realise there is a human being and a family behind. Buti there is a human being and a family behind. But i still love the show and it has been a joy to sit in the studio and support mike. Has he taught you any dance moves . When he comes home at night, the last thing he wants to do is dance. Comes home at night, the last thing he wants to do is dancelj comes home at night, the last thing he wants to do is dance. I did offer. The flying move at the end . I did offer to do that yesterday. But you have to go up and put your arms as if youre on an arm chair and we havent got mastered that. as if youre on an arm chair and we havent got mastered that. I thought youre likely to be injured and thought what would happen. We can swim around the kitchen. Back to the dance off, it is bitter sweet, because it is horrible when somebody you have got so close to and emma and aljaz and i got to know emmas mum and sisters each week at the show. I love going to long laet and it is so bitter sweet when one has to go and it is out of our hands, they did a brilliant dance off, it is out of our hands and it is up to the judges. We cant do any more than do your best and hold your hand up. But we will miss emma and aljaz. We will leave you to your break fast. All the best next week. One more week and he is off to blackpool. We might to have go. Now the news and travel where youre watching. Good morning. There is going to be more rainfall in the forecast throughout this week. It is particularly heavy today across the north and east of scotland. It is also going to turn much colder. From midweek onwards we will see colder air moving in from the arctic. This is the scene this morning. Quite a bit of rain across eastern scotland that will continue this afternoon and lead onto localised flooding issues. Further west of scotland will be drier. Northern england and wales a scattering of showers with lengthy dry spells in between and may be a bit of brightness coming through at times and temperatures getting up to ten or 12. So tonight, that rain in eastern scotland will move further southward and north east england having quite a bit of rain through tonight, moving further south and west. Temperatures six to 708, nothing too cold going into tuesday. It will be a fairly u nsettled into tuesday. It will be a fairly unsettled state with rain at times. Goodbye. Unsettled day. This is worklife from bbc news, with Sally Bundock and david eades. Travel lust. Our passion for globetrotting keeps on booming but will an uncertain Global Economy and climate concerns cool the industry down . Live from london, thats our top story on monday 4th november.
