The body of the british backpacker Amelia Bambridge has been found in the sea near a cambodian island a week after she went missing. More than 70 people have died after a fire swept through a train in pakistan. Its thought a gas cylinder exploded while passengers were cooking breakfast on board. And coming up, well take a look atjohn bercows most memorable moments as he stands down as house of commons speaker. President trump has urged Boris Johnson to Work Together with nigel farage to win the general election, during an extraordinary interview with the brexit party leader. During the interview on mr farages radio show, he also launched a scathing attack on labour leaderJeremy Corbyn. I dont want to tell boris or you, because you have had a great impact on this, nigel. You and i have become friends over the last couple of years, and you saw what was happening with my thing, just like you saw what was happening over there. You are like a great tea leaf reader. I would like to see you and boris get together, because you would really have some numbers. You did fantastically in the election, the last election. Absolutely. He respects you a lot. I dont know if you know that or not, because i have no idea. I have enough to do over here without that. You do. 2 billion people there, frankie. He has a lot of respect and like for you two brilliant people over there. Boris, he isa brilliant people over there. Boris, he is a fantastic man, and i think he is a fantastic man, and i think he is a fantastic man, and i think he is exactly the right guy for the times. I know that you and him will end up doing something that could be terrific, if you and he get together. It is unstoppable force. And corbyn would be so bad for your country. He would be so bad, he would take you on such a bad way. He would take you on such a bad way. He would take you to such bad places. But your country has tremendous to potential, it is a great country. But your country has tremendous to potential, it is a great countrym has been bad for boris and one way because he inherited a difficult position from mrs may. You said to me that he would bring some energy to the job, me that he would bring some energy to thejob, and, me that he would bring some energy to the job, and, well, me that he would bring some energy to thejob, and, well, ithink me that he would bring some energy to the job, and, well, i think ahead of his predecessor, he has brought a of his predecessor, he has brought a of energy. That is true. He also picked up this deal under mrs may that she tried to do, that was in fa ct a that she tried to do, that was in fact a new eu treaty. And boris has picked up that treaty and tried to improve it, has he spoken to you about the details of this deal . Yes, he has. And he also knows how difficult it is. He is in a very difficult it is. He is in a very difficult position. I think he is willing to do what nobody else would do. I also think he is looking very much at the United States, because we can do much more on trade. We are much bigger than we were when i took office. We have grown a tremendous amount. And china has gone in the opposite direction, as you know. We have gained trillions of dollars in value and worth, and they have lost trillions of dollars. So we find far and away the largest economy in the world. We want to do trade with uk, they want to do trade with us. And to be honest with you, this deal, certain aspects of the deal, you cant do it. You cant do it, you cant do it. You cant do it, you cant trade. We cant make a trade deal with the uk. Because i think we can do many times the number that we are doing right now. And certainly much bigger numbers than you are doing under the european union. |j much bigger numbers than you are doing under the european union. I am like you. Boris wants to be careful with that. And in certain ways, we are precluded. Your country, italy and others, who would do much better, frankie, without the eu. If they want to have a union, that is fine. But i think that hurts your country. They are tough people to deal with. I told that to boris. I said, they are very difficult to deal with, and i have a magic wand, ican deal with, and i have a magic wand, i can deal with them very easily. All i have to do is Say Something and they will be coming in dealing with me very easily. I was thought you had a bit of a magic wand, but you had a bit of a magic wand, but you never used it. I know what you never used it. I know what you know what i am talking about. |j would like to help, but they have chosen not to use me in these negotiations. The nhs is not up for grabs is what you are saying. The other line i get is. I dont even know where that started. I dont even know where your Health Care System started with respect to us taking over your Health Care System. It is so ridiculous. I think corbyn put that out there. It was never even mentioned. I never even heard it until i went over to visit with the queen, who by the way, is a great, great woman. President trump speaking to nigel farage. President trump speaking to nigel farage. Mr corbyn has tonight hit back on twitter, accusing the us president of trying to interfere in britains election to get his friend borisjohnson elected, adding our nhs is not for sale. We can speak to our political correspondent, jessica parker, whos at westminster. He is not one for abiding by protocol, how unusual is this . In one sense, you look and think it is pretty unusual because, as you allude to there, the convention is that leaders dont wade into the politics, particularly elections, of other countries. But lets face it, there have been examples of this happening before. There was the example of president barack obama during the Referendum Campaign suggesting that should brexit go ahead, the uk could be back of the queue for a trade deal. Donald trump, i recall earlier this year, gave his opinion as well to the Sun Newspaper regarding the conservative leadership race as well. Now, of course, this latest intervention. But it is quite bizarre, i suppose, ina way, but it is quite bizarre, i suppose, in a way, because there it is, the us president talking to nigel farage, the leader of the brexit party, about Boris Johnson, farage, the leader of the brexit party, about borisjohnson, the Prime Ministers brexit deal that he struck with the eu. Then bringing the labour leader into things as well, criticising him. Jeremy corbyn, you are talking about that tweet there, i think maybe not necessarily that worried about this criticism from donald trump. One of the labour messages is they have been suggesting that a conservative government would try and somehow sell off the nhs to america, a new trade deal. The conservatives have pushed back on that idea. But tweeting these clips tonight, Jeremy Corbyn, from his own account, suggesting he is not particularly shy of getting into this particular discussion. Speaking ofJeremy Corbyn, he has officially launched labours campaign today. He has had a launch, as the general Election Campaign gets under way. Offering a lot of red meat to his supporters, the kind of messages that he is talking about about investing in Public Services. I think you will see, whilst he did speak about brexit, i think what you might see are some similarities to the 2017 Election Campaign where, yes, of course, brexit featured, but labour tried to push the agenda onto other issues, particularly anti austerity issues. Where they think they are on strong ground. Interestingly though, borisjohnson strong ground. Interestingly though, Boris Johnson visiting strong ground. Interestingly though, borisjohnson visiting a hospital today. I think it is certainly true that the tactics from the conservative party to try and meet the labour party on that ground and talk about their own plans for investment in Public Services, perhaps the two sides will get into something of a bidding war. Jessica, for the moment, thank you. Earlier, our north america correspondentjon sopel gave this reaction to the interview. The long standing tradition, as long as anyone can remember back, is that if you are the leader of a foreign country, you do not intervene in the direct affairs of another countrys general election. Remember the theory there was when barack obama 3. 5 years ago spoke about how he thought britain should remain in the eu. Donald trump, he has waded straight in, as you sit in that quote there, and you have had Jeremy Corbyn firing back saying that all the president is doing is trying to get borisjohnson elected. Two other things of interest in this interview that the president has given nigel farage, he says that nigel farage and Boris Johnson ought farage, he says that nigel farage and borisjohnson ought to get together. He said they would be an unstoppable force. The together. He said they would be an unstoppable force. The other little hand grenade that the president through was to talk about Boris Johnsons brexit deal and say that in certain circumstances, it would make a trade deal with the United States impossible. The president has entered the uk general election. Today was supposed to be the day we left the european union. But, instead, the general election got under way in earnest asJeremy Corbyn launched the labour partys campaign. He vowed to transform britain and take on what he called the establishment elite. He also said he would get brexit sorted in six months. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister expressed his frustration that britain wasnt leaving the eu today. But said he would deliver brexit by the end of january at the absolute latest if the tories win. Our political editor, laura kuenssberg, reports. A roar of welcome for their hero. Who, second time round, reckons he has a chance to be a champion, not just the challenger. In this election, taking place because we have not yet left the eu. Today is the 31st of october. The day that borisjohnson promised we would leave the eu. But he has failed, and that failure is his alone. If they won, labour would hold another referendum and maybe leave, maybe stay. So they want to campaign on more familiar ground. Despite his denials, the nhs is up for grabs by us corporations in a one sided trump trade sell out. I simply say quite bluntly to everyone, it is not for sale. The tories dont have plans to trade away the health service, but that wont stop this chant. Not for sale the labour leader knows he is onto something. Manna from heaven in a room like this. It is now time for real change. Mr corbyn, your pitch to the public today is very similar to in 2017. Why do you think, two years on, you might secure a majority with the same message . We have had two years of this government, we have had now three tory Prime Ministers since i became leader of the labour party. We are very well prepared for this Election Campaign and are going to go out there and do it. Jeremy corbyn the campaigner is back. But it is not about the energy of the home crowd, it is whether his party can translate this into a convincing campaign in every corner of the country. I have already been out campaigning, it is really positive on the doorstep. If we are going to have a chance, it has got to be now. 100 full commitment. One thing 10096 full commitment. One thing thats more important is that we have a huge ability of people. In case youre wondering what Boris Johnson wants to talk about, he spent the halloween he had hoped for in class in suffolk. Men are trumpeting the governments plans for new hospitals in cambridge. Squirt some in there . What might having to explain why he is asking us having to explain why he is asking us to go to the polls at all. This parliament is just not going to get brexit through. All we can do now is go to our people, go to the country and say, come on, lets get this thing done. We have an oven ready deal, put it in the microwave. The lib dems tried to take their stop brexit message around parliament square. Protesters were more concerned about stopping them. We wa nt concerned about stopping them. We want a Bright Future for this country, in order to stop that in order to do that, we have to stop brexit. We have to invest in our Public Services and have an economy thatis Public Services and have an economy that is growing. This is an election where you cant say they are all the same. The result could mark a dramaticjunction same. The result could mark a dramatic junction for the country. The westminster system is broken. And that is why the people of scotland need the choice of independence. The parties are all somewhat spooked, with good reason, the doorstep might look familiar, but faces an uncertain time, and uncertain campaign, and a very uncertain campaign, and a very uncertain result. SoJeremy Corbyn says labour will put forward what he called a radical and exciting plan for real change. Our deputy political editor, john pienaar, looks at what labours key campaign pledges could mean for all of us. What does it mean for me at work . Jeremy corbyn has offered real change, and his plans for rights and rewards for people at work certainly offer that. Take pay, under labour, overtime, they have been negotiated centrally, sector by sector nationwide. That is a much bigger role for trade unions, which would be recognised by law. But some say that some companies cannot afford to pay as much as others. Youd risk pricing people out of work. On staff ownership, more people would own a stake in their company under labour. 10 of shares in companies with more than 250 staff, would that deter investment . Or perhaps put bosses off growing their workforce . Or, if you have a stake in your company, would you work harder . Maybe push up profits . Other big changes, a 32 hour working week over ten years, sceptics say kept working hours and people end up being paid less. Are labour going re nationalize everything . AJeremy Corbyn government would re nationalise, that means the state owns it, on a huge scale. Mail, rail, water, energy. There has not been a labour plan so far reaching and radical in over a0 years. Critics at the cbi say the cost would be eye watering. Nearly £200 billion. Labour says that is over the top, fanciful and anyway, the profits could go towards paying off interest on the money borrowed to buy the assets. What about schools and hospitals . We are still waiting for detailed costings, but more cash for schools and hospitals is on offer. The party is in something of a bidding war with borisjohnson, who is making rival promises to end austerity and invest in our services. What do labour mean by for the many, not the few . Jeremy corbyn wants to build what he calls a fairer country, with higher taxes on corporations, the rich and the better off. Labour would target those he calls dodgy landlords, greedy bosses, and polluters. It is a long list. He is promising stronger rights for tenants and for workers. The big arguments as to whether higher taxes punish success. Labour says it is about fairness, more for those who can labour says it is about fairness, more from those who can afford it. And anyway, most people wont have to pay any more. In this election, so much to come down to the question of who do voters trust . Borisjohnsons personal ratings in the polls are low compared to past leaders, butjust now, Jeremy Corbyns are far worse, worse than any labour leader in decades. The headlines on bbc news. As the Election Campaign gets under way President Trump gives his opinion on the contest, he backs Boris Johnson and nigel farage and attacks the labour leader. It comes as labour launch their Election Campaign promising to take on what they call the establishment elite. We also heard from Hooker Jamie George about the influence of the captain, and the Emotional Team meeting that he holds for only players on the eve of the matches. First of all, he leads from the front, he is incredibly committed in the way that he performs, the way that he carries himself day in day out. That is the sort of person that we wa nt out. That is the sort of person that we want to follow. I think also he has developed in terms of his messaging to the team, and how he builds that up towards the game on saturday. He makes his messaging throughout the week, he is brilliant. It makes the team feel so ready on saturday. And he builds our confidence up throughout the week. I think a large part of that is down to him. Meanwhile, south africa have been able to bring back their wing into the starting xi after he missed the semifinal with an ankle injury. The springboks are looking to become the first team after losing a match in the pool stages. But i think that was just lingering in my head because i was backin lingering in my head because i was back in playing county cricket two weeks after the World Cup Final. Good to hear, isnt it . I will have more for you in sports day at 10 30pm. More than 50 mps are standing down at the election, among them 18 women, some of whom say a growing level of abuse and bullying has been a factor in their decision. Mps have been giving our special correspondent lucy manning an idea of the sort of comments they have to deal with. You stupid bleep. Stay off tv, your face makes you want to vomit. You stupid bleep. Stay off tv, your face makes you want to vomitm makes you a enemy of the people. It isa damn makes you a enemy of the people. It is a damn shame that traitors dont get hung any more. Who would want to be an mp . Some politicians, despite all this, want to carry on. Some people dont like your dad, you know that . Some mps are stepping dancing the abuse is too much. The culture secretary is going, abuse and the impact on her family a factor. |j have had a number of people prosecuted for Death Threats and that sort of thing. I received an e mail in my office, a couple of yea rs e mail in my office, a couple of years ago we would have reported it to the police. But this time we thought that, oh, well, it is not as bad as usual. There is always abusive e mails. Bad as usual. There is always abusive emails. Anna soubry is hoping to stay on, to the job has left her in tears. This is a form of terrorism. We would have accepted in any other sphere. But because we are deemed to be rim owners, mutineers, traitors, all of these awful words that are used, it is like we deserve it. So far, 18 women are standing down, although more male mps are leaving, the female ones are young and havent been in the commons as long. There has been an enormous increase in abusive tweets sent to mps. Figures shared with the bbc showed that injanuary, mps were receiving 32,000 abusive tweets. And by september, that had increased and mps received 87,000 abusive tweets. In the last nine months in total, mps were on the receiving end of 500,000 tweets containing abuse. It is not just female mps. 500,000 tweets containing abuse. It is notjust female mps. There have been homophobic flavours to some of the abuse that i have been getting. The vandalism of my office twice in one week, including homophobic slurs is the latest. The Prime Minister has been criticised for his language and lack of understanding. has been criticised for his language and lack of understanding. I have to say that i have never heard such humbug in my life. Today, he said the abuse was deplorable. We should have zero tolerance for that kind of behaviour, and we should defend and protect public servants, whoever they are. Whether they are politicians or not. But in westminster today, a ministerial car getting this reception. The aggression and tension all too visible. Lucy manning, bbc news. Well, joining me now is catherine anderson, ceo of thejo cox foundation, which was set up after the murder of mpjo cox in 2016. And theyve been working with parliament to tackle this issue of abuse. Three years after the murder ofjo cox, how would you characterise the kind of atmosphere mps are having to go and working . Having to go and working . M having to go and working . If we take the last three years, we are definitely conscious that things are a lot worse now than in 2016, or before. Partly of course because of brexit. And the sort of anger that that has unleashed and the licence of people feel to use increasingly abusive and intimidatory language. And the work that we are doing is a result of the intimidation in public life, the report which theresa may commissioned, having seen increased incidences of abuse on the campaign trail in the 2017 election. So what is that work that you are doing . How are you trying to change things and make it a better environment for mps . The first thing we are doing which we are working on right now is thejob which we are working on right now is the job standard of conduct for all Political Parties which was a recommendation of the report. The idea is that in reaching a common approach to tackling abuse and intimidation, all of the Political Parties can send a really strong message to their membership to activists, to people who are engaging politically, as well as two elected representatives at all levels of government, that they have a responsibility to disagree agreeably, if you like. So to set the tone to be conscious of setting the tone to be conscious of setting the tone, the call it abuse where they see it, and, in fact, to defend they see it, and, in fact, to defend the dignity of their political opponents. I think that is really powerful, and politicians can disagree, but still say to one another, we can still respect one another, we can still respect one another and disagree kindly. Another, we can still respect one another and disagree kindly. L mattress on civility then the politicians carry themselves, particularly in the debates we are seeing, for example, in the house of commons . To set the tone that we wa nt to commons . To set the tone that we want to see reflected elsewhere . Commons . To set the tone that we want to see reflected elsewhere . |j think want to see reflected elsewhere . think they do have a result turbidity, i think i do have a responsibility. To the escalate tensions and tempers, i think it is a serious one. I think we in particular are concerned about tone and language and the off line consequences. The foundation wouldnt exist if it wasnt for an actors an act of terrible, horrific violence which occurred off line. When you think about the worsening tone, it is very hard to separate the off line and online. see a lot of really unpleasant exchanges on social media between people of different views. How do you police it effectively . Because we can sign up these accounts with fa ke we can sign up these accounts with fake names, fake photos, how do you manage to bring some kind of control to it . The question of anonymity is an interesting one, and whether we should be banning Anonymous Online accounts. And we dont really want to get involved in that debate in particular because. This is the preservation of free speech at the same time. This is not about curtailing free speech, it is about maximising constructive debate. So when you are arguing with one another to the point that it is getting abusive, that is not constructive debate. It is less about freedom of speech, it is about the way in which you are debating. I think the tools out there are great, blocking, deleting, a lot of social Media Companies need to release their platforms. But unless we stop people from committing the acts of abuse in the first place, this is the key thing, unless there is a Behavioural Change and societal change we can all say, this is not the way we want to talk to each other, then it will continue. Isnt it too late . Isnt the lid off . How do you stop it . We are hopeful that, in the end, the vast majority of the public will object to what they are seeing. They will reject the toxic discourse, they will reject this toxic environment where, as we have seen, mps are standing down, brilliant mps from all party are feeling that they cant fulfil their duty as a member of parliament, they cant speak freely, the occasionally, we have been told, mps are changing the way they have voted because of how they feel. In the end, it is worrying for democracy, it is worrying on a personal safety level. But it is also worrying for democracy. I feel we are at a Tipping Point where we have to intervene, and all of us collectively think, if we are not pa rt collectively think, if we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. We are condoning this language and abuse. Thank you for coming in. Now its time for a look at the weather. Hello. If you have been taking advantage of some drier days where you are, that is all about to change. Low pressure coming back, wetter, windier conditions. And we will have a spell of rain pushing across much of the euterpe of an eye with the exception of the far north of scotland and milder weather coming in with this with plenty of cloud and temperatures not not dropping as far as they have done in recent nights. There will be a milder start to the day tomorrow, but it will be a cloudier start and a wetter one for many of us. In the first spell of rain completes its journey northwards to scotland as the day goes on and behind it, there is a drier, brighter spotter receives sunny spells and then further outbreaks of rain as northern ireland, wales and southwest england later in the day, strengthening south westerly winds with this as well. It will feel much milder across much of england, wales or northern ireland, but still on the cool side in scotland. And some of us here in single figures, potentially stormy, especially in the south on saturday. As the Election Campaign gets underway President Trump gives his opinion on the contest, he backs borisjohnson and nigel farage and attacks the labour leader. Corbyn he would be so bad for your country, he would leave your country in sucha country, he would leave your country in such a bad way. You will take you such bad places. But your country has tremendous potential. It is a great country. It comes as labour launch their Election Campaign with a promise to take on, what they call, the establishment elite. We are going after the tax dodgers, the dodgy landlords, we are going after the bosses, we are going after the big polluters because we know whos site we, the labour party, are on. The body of the british backpacker Amelia Bambridge has been found at the sea near a cambodian island a week after she went missing. More than seventy people have died after a fire swept through a train in pakistan its thought a gas cylinder exploded while passengers were cooking breakfast on board. His quirky phrases and distinctive shouts have made john bercow a well known figure not only at westminster but around the world. Well after ten yea rs, hes finished his last day as commons speaker. His sucessor will be elected on monday. Heres his final moments as his tenure in that famous green chair finally came to an end. Order. The question is that this house do now adjourned. As many as are of the opinion, say aye. To the contrary, no. The ayes have it. The ayes have it. Order. Order. Mark lowen looks back on his ten years as speaker of the house of commons. Order bellowing. Behave yourself colourful. I couldnt give a flying flamingo what your view is unforgettable. Leave the chamber, get out, well manage without you asjohn bercow leaves the speakers chair after a decade, the tributes are piling up. You have been a remarkable speaker of this house. You have been a champion of the parliament and you have been a reformer. As other honourable members and right honourable members said, you thought about opening up this place so that young people already country can see it is their parliament, it is therefore them. It has been an incredibly challenging time in parliament and ijust was not feeling like i was here, that i really valued what it is we are doing here. Mr speaker has been kind enough to call me on a regular basis over the past few weeks in the question of interventions and so on and i have fallen back in love with this chamber and i thank you for that, mr speaker. The highest duty of the speaker of the house of commons is to be the champion of our house and its members, and to defend our right to freedom of speech, the defence of our constituents, and, mr speaker, you have done that. Even at 18, john bercow had the rhetorical flourish and the crowd pleasing lines. I would suggest to mrs castle that the reason she sought to join the European Parliament was precisely the same. An mp from 1997, hes reformed the speakership, ditching the Traditional Court dress, empowering backbenchers. He overcame allegations of bullying, questions about his expenses, and a sticker in a car he drove reading, bullocks to brexit. That sticker on the subject of brexit happens to be affixed to or in the windscreen of my wifes car. Yes. And im sure the honourable gentleman wouldnt suggest for one moment. Laughter. That a wife is somehow the property or chattel of her husband it was his interventions on brexit that catapulted him to fame. Stopping a third meaningful vote on theresa mays deal, allowing the benn no deal bill to be debated. Feted by remainers, hated by leavers. It is becoming remarkable how often you please one lot and not the other. From junior tennis champion. To speaker and unlikely celebrity. Order john bercow is bowing out. Division remembered long after he will be given his marching orders. Im joined now by Bobby Friedman who wrote a biography ofjohn bercow called bercow, mr speaker. Did he like you following him around . Not so much, he tried to stop me from writing that book but it did not work. He thought it was fair, but there were lots of embarrassing things in the book which were quite fun to uncover. What are your favourite parts of his time as mr speaker was mike because he has grown into his role of the ten years. Certainly has and it has been quite a bit of a transformation, he became speaker when he previously was a conservative mp, he was elected with almost no conservative votes and they voted for him because David Cameron hated john burkle and alices selling point. That was a selling point. But he granted a lot more urgent questions, held the government to account and those who remember the blair years made in school halls rather than parliament, it was a real change. But what has his speakership is brexit and that is what has really divided people as to whether he has been a good or a bad thing. The one thing that eve ryo ne bad thing. The one thing that everyone remembers from his time is the ridiculously over the top oratorical style that he has which came to him very naturally as a kid, but seems incredibly unnatural to anyone watching. And things that he has said have been added to beethovens music. But there is a lad clapping and things like that in the house of commons and that is very unlikely. We have a bit of progress and the ways in which he calls in peace those flourishes and the way he shouts division, all of thatis the way he shouts division, all of that is great but it encourages people to get engaged with politics and want to watch Prime Ministers questions and other parts of parliamentary debate. But i think theres a flip side to that which, he has become a bit out of his time because when he started this speaker, the nasty comments, very biting comments that he would make torts and peace, that kind of University Debating Society style was a bit more en vogue, now it seems a bit outdated but what were talking about a lot as opposed to before was abuse towards mps and things that mps are to put up with, a lot of whatjohn bercow would say to mps is been really quite nasty. I think it is contributed to some of the tone that we have seen in the house of commons which is not will we would like. And there have been allegations of his conduct towards his staff, which is also not going to bea his staff, which is also not going to be a part of the negativity that he wants to be remembered by. He was a lwa ys he wants to be remembered by. He was always pretty lucky, but the bullying allegations stop but he denies them. Yes, but there are allegations by people were well known to mps who were found as credible. But what happened was brexit got in the way and that allowed him to sweep the bullying allegations under the carpet and gave mps a reason to keep them in the post. So i think theyll be less a part of his legacy that it wouldve been. Youre absolutely right, that is one of the important parts of the john bercow story is speaker. What do you think you would do next . Any preferences . He has not set it out loud but knowing john bercow and his own view of himself and his extremely small ego, he will see the sky as being the limit for him. But he will make himself effectively in international statesmen. Newspapers in sweden and in dubai, all across the world people are fascinated by him so in a way that other speakers couldnt do, he will go to america beyond the speaking circuit, get paid a lot of money, he is always wanted more money, he is always wanted more money and still be his chance to get it, but im sure for himself, he sees himself as having another big job in him. Some kind of International Post very much in the mould of the former statesman and so he is quite successfully created this international persona for himself and ill put them in pretty good stead for his future career. So who comes next . There going there to put their own stamp on it. But i think the stamp that will seek to the next speaker will be a bit of a return to what weve had before. He is supposed to be the neutral umpire, he hasjumped down from the chairandi umpire, he hasjumped down from the chairand i think umpire, he hasjumped down from the chair and i think whoever it is, i think well see a return to something where it is a bit more where you know where theyre going to decide to spaced on the rules, based on the rules. But the use of urgent questions, the fact that the house of commons remains the important place in british politics, that will stay. So 31st october and another brexit deadline passes today the next is set for the end of january. It all means that businesses have to once again readjust their preparations and contingency planning. Simonjack looks at how companies are dealing with putting brexit on hold again. The isle of portland in dorset for centuries home of the famous portland stone. Underground, there is deep frustration that having heated government calls to prepare for brexit, another date has gone by. Politics is making business at the rock face very difficult. Through the brexit process, we had to guess which parts we thought were going to go wrong. Michael stockpiled months worth of Machine Parts from italy and sweden twice. We had to stockpile in march, we felt they could not possibly go for no deal in october, again, but as they got closer to the date, i got frightened, i got really concerned and we started to stockpile again that is costing us £150,000 each time. Sales of fallen 20 this year as brexit deadlines weighed heavily on his customers confidence. Workers at this luxury bike maker can barely move the stock theyve piled up at the deadline. Piled up ahead of the deadline. Weve got over double at the moment, but its not all and here yet. Theres more to come . Yes. Theres more to come of the next few days. Its notjust the cash they have spent on stock, its the time and effort they spent preparing for the unknown. We are not international economists. We are experts on bicycles trained to keep listening we are experts on bicycles trying to keep listening to the news and work out what is going on and what it means for us. Weve been doing that for well over three years now. It isjust exhausting. It is hard to think of a time in living memory when business has been so hindered by politics. They have been told to stockpile, to prepare, to brace themselves for a deadline at the end of march and a deadline at the end of october, there is a new deadline injanuary of next year and now into mix is the general election. For businesses warily prayed that they will some kind of clarity after three and a half years of running their businesses on ever shifting political sands. We wontjust be picking up christmas presents this december, but will a new government deliver the certainty that Everyone Wants . I do not think the elections going to provide the clarity that we are looking for. I think in this situation, its going to be ongoing for years and years. I think it is about time that we were consulted, that british people were consulted on what needs to happen. Itll be good if we get some form of closure on situation. However, personally i think the second referendum wouldve been the better choice. In dorset, the brexit period has seemed an eternity. Both businesses are grateful we are not headed over a cliff edge tomorrow. Theyre both frustrated that once again the brexit earth has failed to move as promised. More than 70 people have been killed after a fire swept through a packed train in pakistan. Its thought it started when a gas cylinder being used by passengers to cook breakfast exploded. The train was travelling from karachi to rawalpindi. You may find our correspondent secunder kermanis report distressing. Flames engulf at least three of the busy carriages. Many of the passengers inside were heading for a religious gathering. Translation it was very difficult for us to get out of the train and save our lives. Some members of the group managed to pull the emergency chain. It was very chaotic. Everyone thought they were going to die. The injured were rushed to hospital, including by helicopter most injured by the blaze, some as they leapt from the train. Amongst the wreckage, these gas cylinders. Railway officials believe the fire was caused when one exploded whilst passengers used it to cook food. Scientists believe measles is more dangerous than previously thought because it can also make children more vulnerable to other infections. Researchers have shown that the measles virus can destroy parts of the immune system that had built up protection against other diseases. They say it makes it even more vital that children are given the mmr vaccine, as fergus walsh reports. The measles virus is highly contagious. Last year there were around 1,000 cases of the respiratory infection in the uk and it can cause serious complications, even death. Measles can be prevented by two doses of the mmr vaccine but uptake has fallen. Now researchers have shown how measles can put people at risk of other diseases. In two studies, more than 100 dutch children who had not been vaccinated had their blood analysed before and after a measles outbreak. Before they caught measles, the children had lots of immune memory cells which were primed to defend them against diseases they had previously encountered but the measles virus wiped out these memory cells. The virus also destroyed naive immune cells which act as sentries, patrolling against pathogens so it made them less able to respond to new infections as well. Much of the research was carried out at the Welcome Sanger Institute near cambridge where scientists sequenced the genetic code of the immune cells to reveal how the measles virus attacks them. Measles virus removes the memory cells had created in response to other pathogens they had seen before and it also returned their immune system back to a baby like state where they are no longer protected to pathogens they were exposed to before. They also had limited ability to respond to new pathogens. After measles infection, some children show signs of immune suppression for up to five years. This research underlines the importance of measles vaccination, not just to protect against that virus but against other Infectious Diseases as well. The uk recently lost its measles free status and there are concerns that a major outbreak could occur unless mmr vaccine rates improve. We are raising money to help those who are the less fortu nate money to help those who are the less fortunate than we are and it is not just people in the service, it is theirfamilies just people in the service, it is their families and people outside.
