Every single time i see a camera, every single time i hear a click, every single time i see a flash it takes me straight back, so in that respect, its the worst reminder of her life as opposed to the best. And his new wife meghan is disarmingly honest too, admitting she was naive about what life as a royal would be like. Its existing, not living, she says. Lets have a watch. You know, ive said for a long time to h. Thats what i call him you know, its not enoughjust to survive something, right . Thats not the point of life. Youve got to thrive, youve got to feel happy. I think i really tried to adopt this british sensibility of a stiff upper lip. I tried, i really tried. But i think that what that does internally is probably really damaging, and the biggest thing that i know is that i never thought that this would be easy, but i thought that it would be fair, and thats the part thats really hard to reconcile, but i, um. I dont know, ijust take each day as it comes. So many messages on this and we will talk about it later in the programme with various guests. Let me read a couple of messages. Chris says, welcome to the world of millions of the poor peasants in this country. Hard to feel sorry for someone who has never had to be stressed about affording food or paying bills. Another viewer says this. Meghan has not long had a baby. Her hormones could be all over the place and adding to the mix the constant scrutiny and criticism she received during and after her pregnancy whilst feeling vulnerable, she is human, for gods sake. Stuart says, it is to see such openness, but the way the media have treated them has been shocking. Archie tweets this. If it is that bad, give it all up and become commoners. Do keep those coming in. We will talk more about meghan and harry and the incredible openness in that itv documentary last night a little later. 10 days to go until brexit. In theory. The government wants to have another vote on the pms brexit deal today another so called meaningful vote but that depends on whether the speaker will allow it. Mps will probably get a chance to vote on the actual law implementing brexit this week possibly tuesday. This is separate from the meaningful vote, but could still throw up all kinds of changes to the legislation deal versus remain labours brexit secretary said labour would back a second sreferendum. Lets speak to four politicians to ask what they think will happen this week. Philip hollobone, a conservative mp, he supports borisjohnsons deal, he voted against theresa mays deal three times; layla moran is a liberal democrat her party wants to stop brexit. Ed vaizey is an independent politician, formerly a conservative until he was chucked out by the party, who supports borisjohnsons deal. Margaret greenwood is a labour mp who says she will not back borisjohnsons deal, saying it needs more scrutiny, and thinks a second referendum is a real possibility. Ijust want i just want to read two ijust want to read two e mails i just want to read two e mails from two viewers, but they pretty much sum up the feeling of many viewers. The first one is this. Stop adding stupid amendments. Stop playing political games, just vote on the done deal straight and unadulterated. Fair point . Totally fair point, lets get brexit done. We have got to do it this week. We need to leave in ten days time. Absolutely not. All parliamentarians are thinking very deeply about this. We hear the frustration and we share it. It is messing up our lives too. We would love to find a resolution to this, but you also have to stay true to your values and the values of your constituents. My constituents have been writing that they dont like this deal. The governments own assessment so far, we think the economic shock of this deal could be akin to the financial crash and we remember what happened after that. This is worth taking our time on. We were come back to that Economic Assessment. Margaret greenwood, how do you respond to that e mail about playing political games . I understand the frustration and there are all sorts of responses to what is going on across the country. That is one of those views. The important thing is that this deal isnt a good deal and we are concerned about the damage it would do to the economy, the National Health service and the future of Northern Ireland. We dont think you should speed ahead with a deal which is so damaging. Im going to vote for the deal and i will not support any changes to borisjohnsons deal. I hope we get it done by october the sist. I hope we get it done by october the 31st. Let me read this from chris again, representing many viewers. I voted remain but i reluctantly accept the 2016 results. I want a referendum now to choose between deals. This is a simple and rational step to take. The in out question has already been settled and although i disagree with it, we should honour it. I dont see an ethical way to run out that question. So no deal on one side and a deal on the other. What do you say to that . I dont agree. You need to have the status quo there, because whilst that might go the issue was that that first referendum didnt have a binary choice. That is his point. And no deal is not a destination. No deal is chaos. So now we have a deal by borisjohnson, and we have said we should put it back to the country with the option to remain, which is the status quo. That is where we are now and where many people want to remain. That is why we need to have that on the ballot. What do you think . What is the point of having a second referendum if you havent yet implemented the first . But if you are going to have a second referendum, that is the question that should be asked, between this deal and no deal, not between this deal and no deal, not between this deal and no deal, not between this deal and remain. We think we need to negotiate a much better deal than this which protects jobs, negotiate a much better deal than this which protectsjobs, workers rights and secures the peace in Northern Ireland and makes sure our nhs is not put up for grabs. We would like a general election and we then want to make the government negotiate a better deal and put that the public. We the only Party Offering the option of the vote between remain or a credible brexit deal. I have never been wholly in favour of a second referendum. There have been moments where i thought perhaps we could have won as a way of securing support for a deal. But in principle, we have had the referendum decision. It is up to parliament to vote for a deal and if people want to remain, they can vote liberal democrat at the next election and maybe elect a liberal democrat government to take us back into europe. Would it be useful today to see if parliament is prepared to accept this deal, so a straight yes or no vote today . Yes. On this deal . It is clear that on saturday, there was a lot of opposition to what Boris Johnson wants to do. But we dont know until you have a straight vote. It will not be up to us to do. If we had the opportunity to do that, we would be very clear that we are voting against. Yes, the public wants parliament to make up its mind on this issue, so a vote today would be the right thing to do. And do you think the government would win . Yes. It is pointless either way. Dont you want to know . But we havent scrutinised the deal yet. The liberal democrat will obviously be voting against the deal. So it doesnt matter whether you scrutinise it or not. There are people who are wavering and are not sure, and many of them sit on the benches of the labour party or are in leave seats. They need to know the detail. We cant be bounced as a country into one of the biggest issues facing a generation. I understand that people want us to do something, but if that something ends up being something really bad, isnt it worth taking our time to make sure it is right . And yes, i will vote against it. Only if it was attached to a confirmatory referendum would we even consider backing it. But many people are not sure and we want to know what it is about. So would you back if a confirmatory referendum with remain included was attached . That is what we have been saying for three years. What about labour . If a confirmatory referendum was attached, would you vote for Boris Johnsons referendum was attached, would you vote for borisjohnsons deal . Referendum was attached, would you vote for Boris Johnsons deal . We absolutely cant support Boris Johnsons deal because it is so damaging. If there was an amendment . We want a general election. Let me go back to that. So if there was an amendment attaching a second referendum to borisjohnsons deal, youre saying labour wouldnt vote for it . That is not what keir starmer suggested. We would have to look at the detail. If you voted against that with the second referendum attached, then downing street might have a point when they say these are just wrecking amendments. They are not. This bill needs radical amendment because the moment, it risks the future of the National Health service, it risks thousands ofjobs, National Health service, it risks thousands of jobs, it National Health service, it risks thousands ofjobs, it risks the peace in Northern Ireland and we are not prepared to sign up to that. But thatis not prepared to sign up to that. But that is not labours position. Keir starmer said yesterday that if a second referendum was attached, he would instruct labour mps to vote for it. But we need to look at the detail of it and see what tied to it. The deal. We are not going to support the deal. Am i the only one who is confused . Support the deal. Am i the only one who is confused . You have a spectrum of opinion here. People refer to it as Boris Johnsons deal. Of opinion here. People refer to it as borisjohnsons deal. It is a deal with 27 other countries in the european union, and i think people are slightly flabbergasted now. We are slightly flabbergasted now. We are used to lambasting europe. The whole brexit theme has been about how hopeless europe is, but 27 countries have managed to agree a deal and stick to it. They agreed the deal in march, which the British Parliament managed to reject in its wisdom. We could have been out for six months now if people like philip had voted for it. We now have the chance to vote on another deal which the 27 countries have agreed to. In parliament, we still seem unable to make up our minds. Although i dont think brexit is going to go away, i dont agree with the phrase, lets get this done because we will be straight into negotiating our future relationship. But we can at least get this stage and if parliament votes. The thing about that is that for everyone who thinks that with a vote today or in the next couple of weeks or even october the 31st, that any of this is going to stop and we will talk about other things, that isjust not true. I dont want will talk about other things, that is just not true. I dont want to talk about brexit any more, please make it stop, is what people are saying. We all have to face up to the fact that whatever option anyone supports, we are looking at years more of this, i am sorry to say. Phillip hollobone, do you regret not voting for theresa mays deal, because you may have had brexit by now . Absolutely not because theresa mays deal was brexit in name only. By mays deal was brexit in name only. By voting against it three times, the 28 of us on the conservative benches have now ended up with a better deal. We havent left yet, and there is no guarantee that this deal will get through parliament. No, but we have ten days and im confident that the government will win the vote. And what is that based on . The numbers in parliament. Crucially, labour mps will respect the views of their constituents who voted to leave and will vote for the deal today or tomorrow or whenever it comes. And will you request that your government publish an Economic Assessment of what this deal will mean . I am not frightened of any Economic Assessment. But some people might be. Do you think it should be published . I welcome transparency. Why hasnt it been published so far . I have no idea. According to the economist magazine, borisjohnsons deal would lower income per person by 6. 4 compared to being within the eu. Theresa mays deal would have lowered it by 4. 9 . Why are you happy to vote for it . Because the british people voted to leave the european union. We should respect the result and i think Democratic Politics is the most important principle here. I voted to remain andi principle here. I voted to remain and i wish we were remaining. It is in our economic self interest to remain, but there are questions of sovereignty which the british people have voted on. That is why i have a lwa ys have voted on. That is why i have always opposed no deal. That really would be catastrophic. It is why i lost conservative membership and was chucked out by borisjohnson, mo because i tried to stop no deal. If there is a deal that allows us to leave in an orderly way, we can make progress. Even though it would make people poorer . It is one of the bizarre situations we find ourselves m, bizarre situations we find ourselves in, whether right wing papers like this magazine called the spectator, published an editorial this week having banged the drum for brexit, saying that every business should now move to Northern Ireland because Northern Ireland would be free from brexit bureaucracy and able to take pa rt brexit bureaucracy and able to take part in the Single Market. But this is for the hard brexiteers like philip, who pushed for the hardest possible brexit, to explain why it is such a good idea. Are we at the point where politics or sovereignty is more important than the economics . Yes. Do you agree . Sovereignty is important in the problem with Boris Johnsons sovereignty is important in the problem with borisjohnsons deal is that it puts us in a position where we would be doing a deal with donald trump, who wants to put the National Health service on the table. The National Health service could be taken National Health service could be ta ken over by National Health service could be taken over by us corporations. The conservatives are already privatising the National Health service, but that would be accelerated. We would see us corporations taking over our nhs and stopping us having sovereignty over what we want to do. As you know, borisjohnson said in parliament, probably on saturday although it feels like months ago, he said that the nhs is not for sale. People hear are these percentages of gdp. Why does this matter . It matters because thatis does this matter . It matters because that is the money we have got to spend on public services. What i keep hearing is, lets keep talking about the nhs and education and knife crime and Youth Services and all these things. If you dont have an economy that can support that stuff, a 2 change in gdp amounts to billions of pounds that we dont have to spend. That is why we want to put it back to the people in check, are you sure that is what you meant, or would you rather have a Strong Economy and all the money we would have to spend under this . Phillip hollobone, are you co mforta ble phillip hollobone, are you comfortable with voting for this deal which will make people poorer . I dont think it will make people poorer. I have just i dont think it will make people poorer. I havejust given i dont think it will make people poorer. I have just given you the figures. You have given me figures from the economist, a remain supporting publication. A lot of this analysis too the governments analysis suggests the government would be poorer with any deal. Indeed, because that comes from her majestys treasury, which has an in built remain bias. Majestys treasury, which has an inbuilt remain bias. It is a conspiracy i welcome a fresh analysis and the borisjohnsons premiership. Did you believe in the operation yellowhammer documents . Yes, i think there will be problems with no deal, which is why im supporting a deal. That was prepared the government. But Something Different in the treasury, apparently . The treasury, and theresa mays leadership. Im talking about this administration, borisjohnson as Prime Minister and the chancellor, sajid javid. With operation yellowhammer, they are trying to minimise potential damage from a no deal brexit. But hopefully, we will not get to that, which is why i am backing a deal. But philip, are you saying that all experts, no matter what, but philip, are you saying that all experts, no matterwhat, should but philip, are you saying that all experts, no matter what, should say if they were to leave or remain before their phd and their understanding in economic policy, are using it as a conspiracy that all these economists who are telling us all these economists who are telling us the economy is going to shrink as a result of this deal are wrong . Well, all economists are not saying that. The vast majority are. Its like climate change. There are one or two who are saying it might not. The vast majority are saying the economy is going to shrink as a result of this deal. It is what amber rudd said on one of the programmes yesterday. It is what minister after minister has said. Do you just not believing experts . What is the point of academia . Well, during the referendum it was made clear that if we voted to leave, there would be economic consequences. You there would be economic consequences. You accept that. And are you ok with that . The public is 0k are you ok with that . The public is ok with that. I am ok with it. I voted to leave. 61 of my voters in the kettering constituency voted to leave. 52 of the public voted to leave, despite being given that evidence. So you two will be all right, with respect, wont you . have ta ken a right, with respect, wont you . have taken a straightforward position to honour the referendum result and i think we should leave with a deal. I thought theresa may had a good deal. Weirdly, i thought it was a bit of a cake and eat it deal, where we had access to european markets without paying into the european bureaucracy. I think borisjohnsons deal is not the european bureaucracy. I think Boris Johnsons deal is not as good, but it is better than no deal. I am respecting the referendum result and we live in a democracy. If i face my vote rs we live in a democracy. If i face my voters in the next election as a conservative candidate, they will let me know. That is what i would like. They will let me know if i made the right decision. A lot of them have written to me since i didnt support the changes on saturday to say they are disgusted with what i have done, and they will let me know at the ballot box. That is democracy. Margaret greenwood, if a Customs Union is suggested, which it sounds likely that it will be, would you vote for that . A Customs Union is something that we want. But again, we would have to look at it. That would not be borisjohnsons deal if it changed to that degree. We definitely would want a Customs Union because that would deal with all these problems. Kevin is saying that two philip. Apologies he is talking about a hit. We are talking about thousands of people losing their jobs. About thousands of people losing theirjobs. These are serious times. A Customs Union would deal with those things and it would deal with the difficult issue of the body down the difficult issue of the body down the irish sea. Borisjohnsons deal at the moment has this arrangement whereby Northern Ireland is treated differently to the rest of the country. We know from commentary from Northern Ireland over the last few days that this is really unsettling for people. The good friday agreement was hugely important for peace in Northern Ireland. We have to make sure that is not damaged. And scotland is saying, can we have what Northern Ireland have got, which is access to the eu Single Market . Why cant they . Because that is not in the deal agreed between the uk and the eu. Is that fair . It is the best deal we are going to get. Do you think it is potentially leading to the break up of the United Kingdom . No, because the uk is the fifth biggest economy in the world and scotla nd biggest economy in the world and scotland will always want to be part of that. I am not sure. Scottish polls are moving more in the direction of wanting a referendum on independence. But that said, the Union Matters and we want to keep this country together. The fact that the dup do not support this deal and many of the Northern Irish parties, it is worth saying that the dup is not the only Political Party in Northern Ireland, but the fact that they are very worried about a border going down the irish sea and therefore will not support the deal, shows how bad this is for their worries about keeping the union together. A quick yes or no from all of you. Is the uk leaving the eu on october the 31st . We dont know. It has a chance. No. Yes. Thank you. Quinn texted to say the mps are making the excuse of not trusting borisjohnson to making the excuse of not trusting Boris Johnson to justify thwarting brexit at every opportunity. They stood on a manifesto to deliver the result of the referendum and voted to trigger article 50. What now makes them trustworthy in the eyes of the electorate . This text is that if people want further destruction of public services, support brexit. This shameless government is treating us like fools. People were one, says this viewer, that if the results of the democratic exercise was not accepted, the whole system would break down. This is now happening. Britain, with the refusal of some people to accept the result of some people to accept the result of the 2016 referendum. There are more and i will read them throughout the programme. Thank you for your time. We are currently existing, not living the words of meghan, the duchess of sussex describing how she feels about the pressures of parenthood and royal life in an itv documentary that followed harry and meghan on their recent South African tour. Really frankly, she told the cameras she was warned by her friends before marrying harry that the tabloid press would destroy her life. Meanwhile, harry appeared to confirm a rift between him and his brother william. Lets take a look at some more from meghan in the documentary when i first met my. Now husband, my friends were happy because i was so happy, but my british friends said to me, im sure hes great, but you shouldnt do it because the british tabloids will destroy your life. And i very naively im an american, we dont have that there what are you talking about . That doesnt make any sense. I didnt get it. So its, um. Yeah, its been complicated. I talked to him about Mental Health and the impact on his mental and physical health, and hes obviously very concerned about protecting you and protecting you from what he felt his mother went through. Its an area one has to tiptoe into very gently, but i dont know what the impact on your physical and Mental Health of all the pressure that you clearly feel under . Um. I would say. Look, any woman, especially when they re pregnant, youre really vulnerable. So that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn. You know. It was a long time ago, but i remember, yeah. And especially as a woman, its a lot. So you add this on top ofjust trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed and its, um. And also, thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if im ok. But its, er. Its a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes. And the answer is, would it be fair to say not really ok and that it has really been a struggle . Yes. The pressure youre under is pretty obvious. Its been obvious to me in a growing sense before this tour. I knew some of the picture, but not all of it. So can you put up with this . Can you deal with it, can you manage it, can you continue with it . And what happens if you cant . You know, i have said for a long time to h. Thats what i call him 0k. Its not enough to just survive something, right . Thats not the point of life. You have got to thrive, youve got to feel happy. And i think i really tried to adopt this british sensibility of a stiff upper lip. It has its advantages. I really tried but i think that what that does internally is probably really damaging and. The biggest thing that i know is that i never thought that this would be easy, but i thought it would be fair. And thats the part thats really hard to reconcile. Ijust take each day as it comes. The counter argument, as you know is, look, you have this incredible power, you have this privilege, you have this fame, you have this wealth, and that comes with scrutiny and sometimes its good and sometimes its bad. How do you counter that argument . If things are fair. That completely tracks for me if things are fair. If i did something wrong, i would be the first person to say, oh, my gosh, im so sorry, i would never do that. But when people are saying things that are just untrue and theyve been told theyre untrue but theyre still allowed to say them, i dont know anybody in the world that would feel like thats ok. And that is different than just scrutiny. Thats. What would you call that . Yeah, i dont know. Its really a different beast. I think the grass is always greener. You have no idea. Its really hard to understand what its like. I know what it seems like it should be. Its a very different thing. Thats ok. The good thing is, ive got my baby and ive got my husband, and theyre the best. Incredible openness. Lets talk to broadcaster jasmin dotiwala, and angela levin, a royal biographer who has written about harry and meghans relationship with the media. Get your heart go out to them, angela . Yes, i started watching the programme feeling like harry should behave and man up, and i ended it to feeling incredibly sad. I thought here are to back row people who are pretty desperate and they cant even help each other. Two people. Harry looks washed out, emasculated. He could barely speak when meghan was there at the various places they he let visited. Her do all the talking. He didnt seem able to form words. And meghan just talking. He didnt seem able to form words. And meghanjust poured her heart out. To wash your dirty linen in public like that, against your in laws and against the press and against everybody, for not asking enough whether she is ok, when the country is up the spout, and all these poverty stricken children and kids with one limb missing, and you have seen all that, there didnt seem have seen all that, there didnt seem to be any perspective. Do you agree . No perspective. Washing dirty linen in public. Angela, i have got to disagree with you. In an era when we encourage people to be emotionally open and emotionally intelligent, in an era when people are encouraged to talk about their Mental Health and diversity and inclusion, and metoo, and bullying, we are saying we want this woman to be silenced. Mental health costs lives every year. Suicide, keeping silent. You want her to remain silent. You want her to remain silent. I am not saying she should be silent at all. I am saying it was inappropriate timing. She was asked a question and she answered it. He is part of a young couple. She dodged the answer. She is part of a young couple who sits on a Youth Charity to encourage young people to talk about their Mental Health and bullying. How hypocritical would you have looked if she had dodged that question and not been open about her own Mental Health. Nobody would have known if she dodged the question. Why should she . To respect harry. He must feel dreadful that he cant do enough for her that she is only surviving are not living and that is not enough. The queen, Prince Charles, who have all warmed to her hugely. And been very kind. Were you shocked by what meghan had to say . would love to say i was shocked but i was not. Just like jasmine said, two years ago, they launched the campaign really encouraging us as the public to think about mental well being and to the public to think about mental well being and to speak out and do all of the things that meghan and harry did yesterday. Why are they doing it now . They were asked a question. They agreed to do a documentary. The documentary was about. Part of their role as royals is to bring the media to shine a spotlight on these causes. The parameters of a documentary is well sorted out in advance and Everybody Knows the deal, dont they . Yes, that they had a trusted ally in time and they felt able to talk to him. Why do they want the rest of the world to know how they are feeling right now . There has beena are feeling right now . There has been a huge unfairness towards meghan. This is a woman who has moved countries within the last two years, a newly married couple, also a mother. A new mother. I think if and when she was pregnant and when she had the baby, the press and even the public have been relentless. Sometimes i look at what is written on the social is about them and i think who are these people . Why do you think that is, sadly, if you agree with that, that meghan has been treated differently . agree with that, that meghan has been treated differently . I dont think she has been treated differently. Meghan and harry at their wedding came into an extraordinary outpouring of love and goodwill. I am a great wireless and many people that i know think the whole institution is wonderful. Great royalist. They got this goodwill because of the background and somebody of a different heritage, and it seemed to be so fresh and wonderful to have a brilliant, clever, talented woman coming into the royalfamily. Suddenly it all seems to go wrong. There was the preaching aspect. The idea of hypocrisy of the taking of jets and lecturing about our Carbon Footprint. And agreeing to this long interview with tom bradbury, right at the end, as it was screened, at the end of a very successful tour of africa where they had shown their empathy and how brilliant they were with people. And itjust took away from all the good work they had done because suddenly the emphasis went, as angela said, from poor people, perhaps maimed and handicapped, right through to them. Do you think the media treats kate and meghan differently . Here is the thing. Meghan is the latest in a long line of women who have married into the royal family and been harassed by the media. Lets be really clear. Meghan has been treated completely different from every other woman who had married into the royal family. The treatment of hair is unprecedented. There are racial undertones in every single story. You cant decide what it is you dont like about her. Can i finish . What about her Early Morning emails . What about her killing the planet because she likes avocados . What about opening her own car door . What about opening her own car door . What is it about her . What is the elephant in the room here. You say it is because she is a woman elephant in the room here. You say it is because she is lman elephant in the room here. You say daily mail and think the read the daily mail and think the royal bloodline is being diluted. They think they want their country back. No these are generalisations. During that programme meghan said it would suit me when people dont think of me as mixed race. Would suit me when people dont think of me as mixedrace. She has always owned being a woman of colour. But she said that on the programme last night. And she also said she would always identify as a woman of colour. I dont mind what colour anybody is and which country they come from and i dont care what their parents have done. It is up to them to do good things. Kate was called waity katie and she had a terrible time and so did canada and u nfortu nately terrible time and so did canada and unfortunately this is what happens when you join the royal family and you have got to man up to it. Because you are privileged. You have got to woman up to it if you prefer that you have a lot of advantages and privileges and especially when you are 38 and not 13, you have got to weigh up the good and the bad and help yourself by saying this is awful but i am very lucky because i go on holiday to eltonjohns place to spend weekends with the very wealthy and successful celebrities. Iam wealthy and successful celebrities. I am jolly lucky. I wealthy and successful celebrities. Iam jolly lucky. I have wealthy and successful celebrities. I am jolly lucky. I have got to try. I want to play another clip, if i may, which is prince harry appearing to confirm some kind of rift with his brother william. I will ask you about that afterwards. Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure its under, inevitably stuff happens. But, look, were brothers. Well always be brothers. Were certainly on different paths at the moment but i will always be there for him as i know hell always be there for me. We dont see each other as much as we used to because we are so busy but, you know, i love him dearly and the majority of the stuff. Well, the majority of stuff is created out of nothing. As brothers, you have good days, you have bad days. Do you take that to mean a rift . Absolutely not firstly, they are brothers. If anyone has siblings, you have good days and bad days and thatis you have good days and bad days and that is natural in any family. He talks about different pathways and rightly so. They do. One is going to be king and one is not. Do you take it to be a rift, sally . There could well be because they are such different people and they handled the media and whatever pr advice they are getting a totally different ways. When you look at the terrible trolling that harry and meghan have had when you look at the Carbon Footprint stuff and telling people not to take photographs and talk to theirdog, and the not to take photographs and talk to their dog, and the cambridges at the same problems, and they simply allow people to take photos and there is the no big thing about not being allowed. Typically, you are told by one of the Royal Protection officers not to take photographs of mega when you are sitting on the same row of wimbledon and you said you were taking photographs of Serena Williams anyway. Suit says i am nota Serena Williams anyway. Suit says i am not a royalist but you and the rest of the media are showing what harry was talking about, taking their comments and blown up out of all proportion. Brothers do not need to live in each others pockets. Harry said they have different paths and the media have blown this up as and the media have blown this up as a major rift. And this one existing and not living . At least they have a choice but nobody should feel sad and be treated unkindly. Elizabeth harry has been totally manipulative by meghan in my view. I dont like her. I think she is pulling the royal family her. I think she is pulling the royalfamily down. Her. I think she is pulling the royal family down. She her. I think she is pulling the royalfamily down. She is her. I think she is pulling the royal family down. She is a her. I think she is pulling the royalfamily down. She is a clever actress. At this text prince harry has some concerns. Remember the following child walking behind the coffin of his dead mother. No child should have to face that ordeal. And wendy i lost a parent suddenly in childhood and i feel for harry with all my heart. 45 years on and i am still grieving. Angela, you cant have failed to have been moved when prince harry said every click and every flash takes him straight back to his mother and the way she died. It is absolutely tragic. Of course. He was in his early 20s and he couldnt contain the grief and he had panic attacks and he was quite violent. It was william who suggested he go and get help, which he did and it helped him. This seems to bea he did and it helped him. This seems to be a recurrence of that. It is absolutely tragic. I dont believe for a second that you can move on because he was young and vulnerable and he was just like because he was young and vulnerable and he wasjust like his mother in his characteristics. I think one has to understand that. Where is he wears his heart on his sleeve, william doesnt, and that is how they can respond in a different way to an absolute tragedy. Will this documentary be any kind of Tipping Point in the way they are treated not just by the point in the way they are treated notjust by the media but by the public . I think the important thing to remember is that it is about respect and listening. As a nation, and society, we dont listen to people enough. If they say they are having problems with Mental Health, if they want to be open about their emotions and feelings, we should let them be that, and we should stop pitting the couples against each other. Do you accept. Prince harry has appeared to confirm a rift, although people take that in a different way which is absolutely everybodys right, different way which is absolutely eve rybodys right, but different way which is absolutely everybodys right, but that will feel media speculation about any rift. All morning all over the tv and radio rift. All morning all over the tv and radio i have heard commentators like us thinking we know what has been said and how they feel. Unless you have had a one to one conversation with them, and you have, angela, with harry, and it is strange and bewildering to me that having had those conversations, you are not in touch with them i thinking of his generation. are not in touch with them i thinking of his generation. I am in touch with the modern thinking of his generation, actually. But i think there are times when you do that and i think there are boundaries. It is very unfortunate that he would do that to self sabotage. If they are asked a question, they have got to answer it and be honest. They dont. Absolutely not. We are encouraging the modern world to openly talk about their emotions so why should they live. Pouring out about the emotional lives. She was asked a question and she said it was difficult. She is a new mother and she was allowed to be vulnerable. Difficult. She is a new mother and she was allowed to be vulnerablem was a joy to do that into the it was a joy to do that into the it was her choice to do that interview. When you think back to Princess Diana with Martin Bashir and Prince Charles with dimbleby, you would think they would have thought long and hard about the timing of it and the way it would affect all the good publicity they have had and peoples perception of them. Final word . Publicity they have had and peoples perception of them. Finalword . From myjob at the diana world, i have seen myjob at the diana world, i have seen the huge impact of abuse on young people and every week we hear from a young person who has attempted or successfully from a young person who has attem pted or successfully ta ken their own life. We are no longer in a generation which says that Mental Health and bullying is character building and you must man up. That destroys lives. It is ok to talk about it. If they have chosen to talk about it, a society we need to listen, be fair and respectful. As meghan said, she tried to do the british stiff upper lip thing but she found that damaging internally as well. Thank you. I appreciate your contributions. Thank you for coming on the programme. There are so many more messages and i coming on the programme. There are so many more messages and i will try to read some more before the end of the programme. The uk population is projected to increase by three million over the next decade, according to statistics released this morning. And millions of new Affordable Homes are needed to house the growing and ageing population. Weve had exclusive access to a pioneering project in the seaside town of margate in kent which aims to deal with this problem. Three generations of the same family whod previously lived in separate homes successfully applied for a new housing scheme. All of them moved into a big new house that had been a Rundown Hotel by the sea. What could possibly go wrong . This is what happened. Margate in kent, like most British Seaside towns, has had its ups and downs. Many of its spectacular buildings, built in its victorian heyday, have been either unloved or split up into numerous small flats. 12a dalby square was bought by Kent County Council in 2012. For the last year, its been part of an experiment looking at the benefits of moving multiple generations of the same family in together. Lets meet the family. Weve got hospital sister lizzie and her fiance, richard, whos a chef. Lizzie has two children. Charlie works in a supermarket. 18 year old dan is training to be a chef. Theres charlies six year old daughter, poppy. And finally lizzies big brother, andrew, whos charlie and dans uncle. Brea kfast. Richard and lizzie have the day off. Andrew started work early, and dan is still in bed. Charlie is getting daughter poppy ready for school. I make breakfast a couple of times a week when im home and not at work. Previously i would have just been cooking for me and liz. Not a house of six. It would have been just the two of us, and maybe the boy, daniel, if hes home. Before they all moved in together, the family lived in three separate homes scattered around margate. Lizzie, richard and dan lived in one. Andrew lived on his own, and single mum charlie and poppy had their own place. Juggling poppys school times and her own work hours was a challenge for mum charlie before moving into this house. My hours do change sometimes from week to week so it does make it a little bit difficult with school runs, but with a bit of help on hand now, its nice that shes still getting picked up by a family member. This morning, lizzie is taking her granddaughter to school. Bag, please, because youre going to be late. It was lizzie that spotted the advert for taking part in the housing experiment, because her landlord at the time was selling up. Thanet council, who were behind the project, wanted to see if a multigenerational home would save money on things like social care and would reduce the impact on the environment of everyone living separately. We had to go through an interview process with the university, the council and the letting agents and the people that were in charge of the Regeneration Project of dalby square. So it was quite a long interview. Dr hannah swift from the university of kent was one of a team of academics that have been studying the family for the past year. Multigenerational living, whether its successful or not, will be different for each individual family depending on their own care needs. So the family that are living here have very specific care needs. Other families will have different care needs and the building itself will have to lend themselves to that. This house is over five floors. There are three kitchens and five shower or bathrooms and seven bedrooms. The average british home has around three bedrooms. Charlie does have her own kitchen, her own bathroom, her own bedroom and her own living room. Everyone in the household has to do their bit to keep the place clean. For lizzies18 year old son, dan, whether or not he stays living here will depend on whether there is enough work. Its really nice having, like. Cos weve got quite a small family, so its nice to see each other all the time. It relies on my career, if i need to move somewhere. But, for the meantime, i will be staying here and living with the family. Its mid afternoon and lizzies big brother, andrew, is back from work. Andrew has learning difficulties. Hes always lived an independent life but, before moving here, hed struggled to look after himself. These are all, like, the starships from star trek as well. My favourite one is the dalek. When she said, oh, do you want to move in with us . Isaid, yeah, sure. Cos when i was on my own and i was working quite a lot, i didnt get to see much of them. Well, hardly at all. Cos i was working nights or day shifts or whenever. Andrew was really struggling a lot when he was on his own. Hes always been a bit of a loner and quite happy in his own company, which is good, but he really alienated himself from the family and kept himself very secluded. You know, he was really struggling. Buying the building and converting it from a Rundown Hotel to a state of the art family home cost more than £950,000. Kent county council spent almost 650,000. Thanet council spent around £74,000. Nick dermott, the heritage adviser for thanet district council, thinks its worth the expense. I think taxpayers money is a good use for this project because it is the exemplar to other authorities as to what they can do with their Historic Housing stock which is so often blamed as being the cause for the social ills of those areas. And its not the buildings fault. And if that stops buildings being demolished, which i hope it will, that has saved the entire country money. The familys privately renting the house from Kent County Council. It costs around £1,750 a month plus bills. Richard says that living together has helped them save money. Were not all paying separate rents. Were not paying separate electricity bills and gas bills and water bills and council tax and everything else. So were all nowjust paying one lump sum for the house. Like all families, there are fallouts from time to time. Despite this, richard wouldnt swap living here for more personal space. As for domestic quarrels within the house, yes, they do happen. But we all have our own space. Multigenerational living is not for everybody, because not everybody gets on with their own family, of course. Its not a solution thats going to suit everybody, but i think it is a solution that many people are looking for and they would like to have in the future. The university of kent will be publishing its findings later this year. At the end of the day, most of the family gets together in the living room to eat. When they lived apart, these gatherings only happened on special occasions. Now its several times a week. The family has a further 12 month contract to live here. But lizzie hopes theyll be there for good. Yeah, weve talked about the future quite often. We talked about it when we came into the property, before we moved in, about this would be. You know, hopefully theyve given us an almost guarantee that this would be a long term thing, and it would be lovely that this would be our forever home. A message on facebook there are three generations in our house. The others where can i help with daily chores. I have my own quarters and i am now watching a programme. I know how lucky i am. Sandra and facebook we would kill each other if we lived together. We love each other very much but from separate houses. Thank you for those. If theres one thing we know about cancer its that the earlier you catch it, the better your chances of survival. Which is why its very significant that this morning Cancer Research uk has announced it is teaming up with leading scientists at universities in the us and the uk to detect the disease before tumours appear in the body. Here with me now is dr david crosby, whos head of Early Detection at Cancer Research uk. What is the mission . To detect cancers at an early stage, when they are relatively treatable. If you are detected late, you have a poor chance of survival and if you can get it early, before it manifests as cancer. Get it early, before it manifests as cancer. So precancerous . That is the dream. How will you do that . We are working with the best institutions in the world to bring together an incredibly Innovative Technologies and look inside cancer cells and find the specific molecular mechanisms that had broken to find it and intervene appropriately. How would that translate to human beings, to us . M will be a journey. It will be in the early stages about finding the specific molecules that indicate there is a cancer that what had gone wrong. How would you test for that . There is a multitude of ways and this is the beauty of the alliance, because we can bring together a great range of different tests. There could be molecules floating around in your blood that are indicative of cancer cells. It could be in indicative of cancer cells. It could beina indicative of cancer cells. It could be in a breath test, or advanced molecular scanners that can see inside the body and visualise cancers. How long will it take for that to be possible . How many years are we talking . There is no one answer. There are things approaching readiness right now. For example scanners that can see lung cancer at a very early stage. Technology that can use an endoscope to peer inside the body and make very early cancers fluoresce. Those things could be in patients very soon, within a few yea rs. Patients very soon, within a few years. The more futuristic star trek staff will ta ke years. The more futuristic star trek staff will take longer periods of time. Are you saying that the ambition is that each one of us will be able to have an individual personal risk of whether we will get cancer or not . Absolutely. I know the holy grail is that i can look at your genes, the specific molecular make up of you, and all of the environmental exposures you have been subjected to, and create a model that predicts your individual cancer risk of each type of cancer and then i know what to look for and how to intervene. Thank you for coming on the programme. Thank you for your time today. Back tomorrow at ten oclock. Bbc newsroom live is next. Good morning. It has been a rather wet start to the day across the south east of england with outbreaks of rain this morning but elsewhere it has been largely dry with High Pressure extending from the azores and up to the uk, so a settled picture for many of us. Rain in the south east is linked into that weather system. It continues to rain across parts of east anglia and the south east of england into the afternoon but that rain becomes lighter and patchy as the day goes on. As sunny spells developing across wales, the midlands and Northern England and parts of scotla nd Northern England and parts of scotland and Northern Ireland, that higher cloud is moving into make the sunshine hazy. Clear skies in england and wales so it could turn cold and frosty with fog patches developing into tomorrow morning which could be quite dense locally. Temperatures overnight four to 8 degrees. Not as cold in scotland as last night. Any focal clear away for england and wales with sunny spells but more cloud for and ireland. Youre watching bbc newsroom live its11am.
