We arejust over 2a hours away now from the Rugby World Cup quarter finals. England and australia will start things in oita with some surprising Team Selections too. George ford has been benched by england whilst a centre who hadnt played International Rugby before the world cup has been named in the australia team. Colm harrison has the details. George ford may have been among englands most impressive performers through the pool stage of this world cup, but that clearly cut no ice with eddiejones when he named his side for the quarter final on saturday against australia. The decision means that captain owen farrell moves from inside centre back into the number 10 shirt with henry slade coming into midfield to partner manu tualagi. Despite ford starting six of englands last seven matches, eddie jones had no qualms about dropping him for his biggest test as england coach so far. Well, i spoke to him this morning and obviously hes disappointed but he knows his role in the team. Hes gotan he knows his role in the team. Hes got an Important Role in the team and thats how weve spoken all along, weve got a squad of 23 and we look at it as a squad of 23, eve ryo ne we look at it as a squad of 23, everyone has a role to do and weve left a lot of good players, eight players out of a squad of 31, and theyre all disappointed. But hes got a significant role for us to play. Meanwhile, jones loop s australian counterpart Michael Cheika raised an eyebrow or two himself when he named his starting 15 with the inclusion of 19 year old jordan petaia for only his third. The first two, both at this world cup, were against uruguay and georgia and on the wing now the teenage queensland red will play a tier one side for the first time at outside centre. We didnt sit back and earmark this game for him to come and play at 13, we just watched the games and made the assessments of each player as they went along. There were things we liked in what weve seen from jordan both on the field, in games and also in training. I felt this would be a game that would suit him. England and australia have met six times previously in world cups with three wins each, including one each infinals, three wins each, including one each in finals, but theres only room for one of them in the last four in japan. England will start as slight favourites. Will know on saturday if theyve justified that tag. Colm harrison, bbc news. After that ireland have to do something theyve never done at a world cup beat new zealand and reach a semi final. If they wanted some encouragement, though, theyve won two of their last three meetings since 2015 and ireland head coach joe schmidt thinks experience will be key. Theres a number of those players within the side that have contributed to a fair bit of history for us. Obviously the first win over the all blacks, first time we won at home against the all blacks, but a few other milestones along the way. A lot of those players that are selected were in australia last summer, were in south africa this summer before when we won in cape town. So the accumulation of those experiences together hopefully builds a bit of confidence, because you need to have some belief. You know, theyre not a team that give you a lot of opportunity. Theyre pretty good at keeping the ball when they keep it and when they kick it, they kick it to put pressure on you rather than to give you a free shot. So you got to just adapt and adjust to whats happening in the game, and weve made a lot of changes since we last played them, so it will be interesting to if those changes work or not. Its getting there thats andy murray talking about his hip injury and his tennis as he progressed through to the quarter finals of the european open in antwerp. It was a straight sets win for him too over Uruguays Pablo Cuevas 6 4, 6 3. The italian cruised to the biggest win of his career 6 3, 6 2. Its his first atp tour quarter final. Alexander rublev is one of two russian men through to the quarter final at the kremlin cup tennis in moscow. He beat Egor Gerasimov in three sets to join defending champion karen kachinov in the last eight. In the womens draw, there was a surprise as top seed Elina Svitolina was dumped out by veronika kudermetova. It was the biggest win of kudermetovas career, playing against a top five player for the first time. From me and the team, well see you next time. Hello. Given that weve seen so much in the way of rain and some pretty hefty showers over the past few days, in manys parts of the british isles, youve probably forgotten theres anotherface to be had of autumn. Its the quieter, still, misty, sort of chilly starts to the days, and if thats the thing youve been hankering after, that ridge of High Pressure will eventually topple its way towards the british isles, but youre going to have to wait until monday. No doubt about it, in the short term its been this the odd bit of blue sky and some pretty hefty showers, all thanks to a big area, not of a ridge of High Pressure but quite the opposite, in meterological terms, a big area of low pressure and its still the boss as we work our way through friday. Some pretty heavy overnight rain quitting the scene from the south east but lingering for a good part of the day through the north east of england, perhaps into the south eastern quarter of scotland. Following on behind, something a little bit quieter and drier for a time. Showers predominantly there across western and southern parts and gradually some of them percolating away through the course of the day further towards the east. Friday into saturday, the same area of low pressure and on the southern flank we may have another area of cloud and rain just skipping in from the near continent to get into the very far south east. Some areas will stay that wee bit drier, we suspect, but this banner of cloud will drag some rain across the eastern side of scotland into the north east of england yet again, and elsewhere, there will be a peppering of showers. Temperatures about 10 15 at the very best. And that temperature profile will be tempered across northern western parts given the strength of the northerly wind. On sunday, we see the same banner of cloud and rain slowly easing its way down into the north of england, leaving behind cold, bright conditions for the greater part of scotland and Northern Ireland in a straight northerly wind, so not overly warm. And even in the south, youll have lost two or three degrees, but sunday, a somewhat drier and brighter day away from that little occluded front in the Scottish Borders in the north east of england, and we start the new week with that quieter look at autumn with the mist, the chilly start, some cold nights to come at least for a few days. There will be somewhat drier conditions to be had across the greater part of the british isles. Watch out for mist and fog first thing, that could be a bit of an issue, but once the day gets going, a lot of dry weather, very little in the way of blue to speak of, maybe just one or two showers through the irish sea, and on the cool side despite the presence of the sunshine. Tuesday still dry for the most part but you can see yourself 00 12 42,992 2147483051 43 06,211 waiting in the wings, 2147483051 43 06,211 4294966103 13 29,430 more wet and windy weather
