And at 09 15 well hear the reaction of some of those protesters to his comments. Some children are inhaling the equivalent of nearly one packet of cigarettes every week due to air pollution, according to new research. And andy murrays remarkable comeback from injury continues. Its confirmed that hell play singles at the Australian Open injanuary. Good morning and welcome to the bbc news at nine. The brexit talks will collapse this week. Thats the prediction from a downing street source in a series of incendiary texts published by the spectator magazine. Government officials this morning say they do not dispute the assessment. The briefing in the spectator goes on to suggest that borisjohnson will do all sorts of things to prevent the uks departure, due at the end of the month, from being delayed. But if it is theres a warning that number ten could refuse to co operate with brussels, if britain is forced to remain inside the european union. The text says we will make clear privately and publicly that countries which oppose delay will go to the front of the queue for future cooperation. Those who support delay will go to the bottom of the queue. At the same time further details have emerged of the European Unions objections to british proposals for changes to the irish backstop in the brexit negotiations. As our brussels correspondent tweeted late last night, brussels were so non plussed over one proposal it had to check with the uk whether it was a joke. It wasnt, he says. This was over the uks new article i a for the ireland protocol, which would commit both sides to no checks at the irish border ever, regarded as a blank cheque in brussels. Lets go to westminster now and see what the reactions been there. Our assistant Political Editor norman smith joins me. Good morning. First of all to what is contained in the spectator article. Is this evidence downing street has moved well beyond the idea of getting deal. And who is the source . One would imagine with such a level of language and the detail contained in this that this source ought to be saying this on the record . There is a huge amount of speculation about the source. The important thing is that source has not been disowned or denied by downing street officially, so they are quite happy for that sort of language and message to go out. The message is that these negotiations are message is that these negotiations a re pretty message is that these negotiations are pretty much dead in the water and number ten is already preparing for the blame game. A fair amount of blame will be apportioned on the irish taoiseach, leo varadkar, who, this source suggests, is gambling on another referendum. Because he is not prepared to budge other leaders are not prepared to budge. Perhaps the most extraordinary thing is the warning in effect that if the eu does go down the road of further delay, then bluntly the uk will become a Disruptive Force within the eu, that it will refuse to co operate. In the words of this source the normal rules around cooperation, quote, go down the toilet. It suggests we will in effect divide the eu up into friends and foes. Those countries which oppose britain by backing the calls for further delay, we will view them as engaging in hostile interference in the domestic politics of this country. And those countries that oppose another delay, they will go to the front of the queue in terms of future cooperation, in terms of security and economic policy. You just get the sense that we are now heading for a decidedly rancorous endgame, although this morning the former tory cabinet minister amber rudd said she believed what was going on was that number ten was trying to position itself politically to avoid blame for the breakdown of the negotiations. Politically to avoid blame for the breakdown of the negotiationsm sounds angry and desperate and the language that is used i do not believe it should be the language of auk believe it should be the language of a uk government. There is a fair amount of speculation about where it came from, but since it has not been denied by numberten came from, but since it has not been denied by number ten and no young woman has been marched out of downing street, one can only presume it comes from the centre, from the Prime Ministers adviser, and the style implies that. You think Dominic Cummings . I think so, yes, otherwise heads would have a role. Clearly it has come from him, it is in his style. And amber rudd said she would back a confirmatory referendum such as one would arise. And there are conservative mps opposed to no deal, how will they react to all of this . Time is short and the government is saying it believes the anthony ban act is not watertight. They are in a bit of a bind. They agreed around opposing no deal and they remain largely convinced that the benn act is watertight. They are prepared to sit on their hands that under the benn act and cabinet minister or a cabinet secretary will have to seek delay. Thereafter they fall apart because they cannot agree on who they want to replace Boris Johnson with two set up what they call a government of National Unity to rule on an interim basis to pave the way for another referendum. Labour are clear the only person they would accept fronting up a government of National Unity is jeremy corbyn. Amber rudd said she under no circumstances would she accept jeremy corbyn, likejo swinson and the liberal democrats, likewise some former labour mps. The rebels are by and large split over what to do next. But unless they can find some sort of consensus about who the alternative to borisjohnson might actually be, it would seem to me the prospects of some sort of government of National Unity as they call it is extremely unlikely. Briefly, given the reaction that we have heard from brussels to the governments latest proposals here, do you think that signals that brussels has also all but given up its optimism that there might bea but given up its optimism that there might be a deal available . but given up its optimism that there might be a deal available . I think so. Might be a deal available . I think so. What we heard from brussels was a pointa point so. What we heard from brussels was a point a point by point rebuttal of the entire plan, it was not a minor nip and tuck, it was the whole package. Given we are three or four days away from when brussels say they have to have it nailed down so they have to have it nailed down so they can present the package to all 27 eu countries, we are not even at the starting block, we have not even entered the tunnel, the lockdown for the negotiations, there are no face to face meetings pencilled in between Boris Johnson face to face meetings pencilled in between borisjohnson and other eu leaders, we are not even at the starting gate. It is clear both sides are now preparing for deadlock and a pretty brutal blame game thereafter. Norman, thank you very much. Meanwhile, a leading Economic Research group has warned that a no deal brexit could send Government Debt to its highest level since the 1960s. The institute for fiscal studies said government borrowing was likely to climb from over £50 billion to £100 billion and total debt would soar to 90 of national income. This means the uk could be borrowing almost as much as the country earns in a year. Pauljohnson from the institute for fiscal studies said that a no deal brexit would have an impact on public spending. If we have no deal, the economy would grow very little, if at all, over the next two or three years, borrowing would rise up to 90 to £100 billion a year, which is a very significant increase from where we are. If that happened, i think we would have to have another period of either tax increases or spending cuts to get it back under control. Irelands finance minister will unveil a no deal brexit budget today. The plans will outline how irish firms will be kept afloat if the uk leaves the eu in a chaotic manner. The Irish Government has warned Economic Growth could come to a near halt next year, putting up to 80,000 jobs at risk if the uk leaves the bloc without a deal. Turkey says its ready to send forces into North Eastern syria following President Trumps controversial decision to start withdrawing us troops from the area. The american president s move has aroused cross Party Opposition in the us, where hes been accused of abandoning kurdish fighters in the region. Theyre regarded by many in the us as allies in the fight against the Extremist Group the so called islamic state, but by the turkish government as terrorists. Mr trump warned turkeys president erdogan not to launch an attack on the kurds, claiming hed obliterate the turkish economy in retaliation if he did. This map gives an idea of which groups are controlling which parts of syria. The orange part in the north east is held by kurdish groups, and turkey is particularly concerned by their presence on its border. This map is based on a document revealed by president erdogan at the United Nations and it gives an idea of how far he wants his forces to move against those kurdish held positions. The Syrian Democratic forces, or sdf, led by the kurds, say they are shocked by the move. Us troops have already been leaving observation posts along the syrian border. Washington says only a small number of troops were moved a short distance, but Kurdish Forces fear they are clearing the way for a turkish invasion. President trump has been defending his decision, explaining that the Us Government wants to bring troops home. Let them take care of it, let them take care of it. We want to bring our troops back home. It has been many, many years, it has been decades in many cases. We want to bring our troops back home and i got elected on that. When you go back and look at our speeches i would say we want to bring our troops back home from these endless wars. As we mentioned earlier, President Trumps move has met with opposition in the us, even from his own party. This was the reaction of republican us senator lindsey graham, speaking on fox news. Here is what is going to happen. It is going to lead to isis re emerging and there is Nothing Better for isis than to create a conflict between the kurds and turkey. The kurds will now align with assad because they have nobody to count on. Because we abandoned them. So this is a big win for iran and a big win for isis. I will do everything i can to sanction turkey if they step further in North Eastern syria. Liz sly from the Washington Post is in beirut, in neighbouring lebanon. Good to have you with us on bbc news this morning. First of all, what signs are there of how president erdogan will respond to this . Today we see the border is completely quiet, turkey has been building up troops therefore longer than months, threatening this invasion, but there is no movement yet. It is becoming a bit clear that it could be quite difficult for him to move, given there is a lot of International Opposition to it. The americans are pushing back very hard. In some ways he has already won something of a victory by getting donald trump to concede that america will not stop turkey from making this operation and that america respects and accepts turkeys legitimate security concerns. In the midst of this tense wait what is the position for civilians in this area, including refugees . Well, this was an area that isis occupied and the kurds have taken it back. A lot of people have taken it back. A lot of people have not returned home and they are escaping again. Some people said they were packing and leaving in case the turks came in. But most people are waiting to see how the situation develops. If turkey goes across the border, you will find a lot of kurds fleeing the area. There are not many places for them to go and we could see more chaotic scenes as people try and escape in all directions. We played that clip of President Trump defending his decision, despite the criticism within his own party and various branches of the Us Government, but evenif branches of the Us Government, but even if he was to backpedal in his language, is it a bit too late in terms of what president erdogan might decide to do next . It is too late in the sense that americas credibility is shot in that part of the world. This is the third time donald trump has said he would withdraw troops from those areas. In each case the military and the state department has convinced him to change his mind. They had 2000 troops there, the last time he said he was withdrawing, last december, they said, no, we have to stay a bit longer, we can leave the kurds, so they reduced it by half and now they have 1000 troops there. But the longer this goes on, everybody in the region will say you cannot count on america. They are definitely not staying long time, so it is time to look for other alliances. Russia may get more deeply involved, talking to turkey about how it can be the guarantorfor turkey about how it can be the guarantor for turkeys security concerns about the kurds. The kurds are trying to talk to russia and the Syrian Government about how they might be protected in a post american syria. All in all, people are starting to see the United States as extremely unreliable. Thank you very much for your thoughts. Thank you very much for your thoughts. The headlines on bbc news. The brexit talks could collapse this week. Government Officials Say theyre not disputing the prediction from a downing street source who says the uk will be uncooperative if forced to stay in the eu. Turkey says its ready to begin a military operation in syria as President Trump defends his surprise decision to pull out us troops. The Prime Minister calls Extinction Rebellion protestors uncooperative crusties as he urges them to stop blocking londons streets. Andy murray will play singles at the United States open injanuary if he stays fit. Speculation surrounds the future of Manchester Uniteds manager. Reports suggest he could be sackedif manager. Reports suggest he could be sacked if he loses the next game badly. Tropical storm could stop scotla nd badly. Tropical storm could stop scotland or irelands chances of Going Forward in the world cup. If either of their games are called off, they could be called a draw and they could miss out on the quarter finals. More on those stories in 20 minutes time. Borisjohnson has labelled Extinction Rebellion environmental protestors unco operative crusties who should abandon what he called their hemp smelling bivouacs and stop blocking roads. He made his comments at a book launch yesterday evening. Police arrested 280 protesters in london yesterday as the Campaign Group began its latest protest calling for action on Climate Change. Key sites in london were blocked, including whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and the mall, with some activists chaining themselves to vehicles and railings. The demonstrations are set to continue for the next two weeks. The metropolitan police says that it has put new conditions on the protests today. Whilst protest is a fundamental human right, that does not give you the right to disrupt other peoples lives to the extent that they are. Peoples livelihoods are being damaged, the huge disruption to london, we had over 50 bus routes cancelled yesterday. I know a number of stories of people struggling to get to work. It is important the protesters u ndersta nd get to work. It is important the protesters understand the impact. Today we have put conditions on the protest under the public order act where people can only now lovely protest at Trafalgar Square on the pedestrianised area off the road. Anybody else protesting within the westminster area a re anybody else protesting within the westminster area are linked to Extinction Rebellion are committing an offence and they will be arrested today. Lets get the latest on the protests our reporter tim muffett is at whitehall in central london. It isa it is a stones throw from downing street. What is the reaction to the comments by Boris Johnson . Street. What is the reaction to the comments by borisjohnson . Does it make the protesters even more determined to carry on . Yes, not to impress. Uncooperative crusties is the way the Prime Minister described them and many spent the night quite close to where he is. This is whitehall and many protesters slept here last night. More than 300 arrests we now believe in total. Ben, you were arrested yesterday. Good morning. Uncooperative crusties, what is your reaction . Absolutely not, we are very peaceful, we are not hippies, we do not smell of hemp, we would Boris Johnson to come and talk to us about a citizen of assembly. Our current democracy is failing to deal with climate breakdown and ecosystem collapse. We want to strengthen our democracy with a Citizens Assembly. It isajury like democracy with a Citizens Assembly. It is a jury like system of randomly selected people and we trust the citizens of this country will have the courage to make the decision to deal with this crisis that our politicians are failing to make. Yesterday, the disruption caused was enormous, many traffic jams yesterday, the disruption caused was enormous, many trafficjams built up. There was more pollution there because they were idling in stock traffic. What do you say to that . Politicians have known for 30 years or more about climate breakdown and they have done nothing. Campaigners have used many methods that are nondisruptive. We have used many methods that are nondisru ptive. We have have used many methods that are nondisruptive. We have petitioned, we have done marches, we have written to our mps and they are failing to deal with the crises that threaten the people of this country. This is a desperate last attempt. By causing disruption we get attention and perhaps we will force politicians to finally act so people in this country can be saved. Claudia, 30 more days of protest, what do you think realistically will happen at the end of the fortnight . I cannot predict the future, but i know our april rebellion brought the Climate Crisis from being zero to about halfway up the agenda. I am hoping we will take the climate and ecological crisis we are experiencing right now across the world right to the top of the agenda so world right to the top of the agenda so it is headlined on every news and on every broadcast and in every newspaper, so something is being done about it. Those whose journeys are disrupted and those whose livelihoods are disrupted, theyjust deal with it . Livelihoods are disrupted, theyjust dealwith it . My livelihoods are disrupted, theyjust deal with it . My message is join livelihoods are disrupted, theyjust dealwith it . My message is join us. Joina dealwith it . My message is join us. Join a lovely group of people and you will be doing something for your children and grandchildren in the future on this beautiful planet we live on. Do you think what you are hoping for can happen . Zero Carbon Emissions in the uk by 2025 . That is up emissions in the uk by 2025 . That is up to the citizens of assembly to work out how it will happen. Something like that will happen otherwise science is clear. Starvation is a possibility. We import half of our food in this country and half comes from abroad and already we are seeing crop failure across the world because of these crises. What is not realistic is to not address this problem and we believe Citizens Assembly devised by experts, given time to deliberate, not influenced by politicians with their party agendas, they will be able to find a way to deal with these problems. Thank you very much. The protests are set to continue for another 13 days and the metropolitan police have promised a robust response. Some roads were blocked yesterday and the police are saying the protesters will not be able to stay there today. We will have to wait and see what the response will be. We will have to wait and see what the response will be. The protests arent just confined to london up to 60 cities around the world are taking part over the next two weeks. Yesterday, campaigners in new york drenched wall street in fake blood, traffic was blocked in the centre of madrid and over a hundred people were arrested in amsterdam after setting up a campsite on a main road. The foreign secretary dominic raab has called on his us counterpart, mike pompeo, to allow a diplomats wife to return to the uk and face Police Questions about a fatal traffic accident. 19 year old harry dunn died in august after his motorbike was hit by a car near raf croughton in northamptonshire, a military base used by the us air force. The main suspect, named as Anne Sacoolas, has left the uk and is protected from prosecution by diplomatic immunity. Ben ando reports. A tragedy on this english country road that is spiralling into a diplomatic incident between britain and the United States. 19 year old harry dunn died when his motorbike was struck by a car being driven on the wrong side. Now the foreign secretary, dominic raab, has raised the issue with the us secretary of state, mike pompeo. The car was being driven by Anne Sacoolas, seen here on her wedding day 16 years ago, the wife of an american diplomat working at this us air base. Two weeks after the crash, she and herfamily moved back to the states, under diplomatic immunity. I would like to think that, as a mum, she would at least try to put herself in our position and just waive the immunity herself and come and see us. I think thats about the only hope we have got. Anne sacoolas is back at home in this neighbourhood near washington, dc. Though diplomats and their families are immune from prosecution, that immunity can be waived. Last year, the husband of a british diplomat in new york was arrested and charged with domestic violence, with the agreement of the government here. Now, say harry dunns family, its time for the us to even that score. Ben ando, bbc news. The labour Leaderjeremy Corbyn has promised to improve Youth Services, if he wins the next election. Labour claims that funding in the sector has been cut by more than one billion pounds in the past decade. Launching the pa rtys only young once policy, labours shadow minister for Youth Affairs says she wants all young people to have access to high quality youth facilities. The reality is it is a Postcode Lottery out there for young people as to whether or not they can Access Services. We are proposing a universal officer of Youth Services to make sure that every local authority is Offering Services to every young person and no matter where they live they can Access Services that are right for them. We are not talking about a top down approach, i expect them to look different in different parts of the country because the needs are different in different parts of the country. But every young person should have access to a good youth service. Police in western germany have arrested the driver of a stolen lorry which crashed into several vehicles in the city of limburg, injuring at least 16 people. Hong kongs leader has once again refused to rule out asking beijing for help to end violent confrontation during protests that have caused disruption across the city. Carrie lam was speaking after a weekend of further demonstrations and clashes with police. Lets return to our top story, that brexit talks will collapse this week. There was an article published in the spectator and alongside that we have seen texts where downing street is saying that where countries oppose the delay will go to the top of the queue for future cooperation from the uk. Those who support a delay will go to the back of the queue. Lets get reaction from europe to all of this with our europe correspondent adam fleming in brussels. I am guessing that people are not terribly impressed by this . People are not hugely surprised either because a lot of this has been telegraphed by the government in newspaper articles and briefings to the press, even in speeches that they have done in public, laying it on the table. Also, a lot of this is stuff the previous British Government tried before. When david davis was the brexit secretary he said that compromises by Member States as the brexit deal was being negotiated would be rewarded with co operation on security and military matters. He particularly singled at the baltics when they we re singled at the baltics when they were worried about the newly aggressive russia. David davies said, would you like troops to be stationed on your border . That did not have any impact on the eus position because the eu tries to reach a common position that it puts in public at the beginning of the process and does all it can to stick to it. What is clear is that things are becoming quite bad tempered. Last night details emerged of the eus detail problems with the uk proposal and the alternative for the backstop. That generated a bad tempered response from a uk source, saying instead of writing documents designed to be licked and causing problems, the eu should be focusing on the uks reasonable proposals. That in turn brought short shrift from the eu side, saying it was a bit rich. Forget the substance about what is being discussed in the room, but things are getting bad tempered. Discussed in the room, but things are getting badtempered. Given all of that, is the eu fully expecting there will come a request for an extension . Is there any possibility they could refuse . They do think the extension is coming, they look at the legislation passed, the so called benn aact and even if it did not exist, even if they had not passed legislation, parliament would ta ke passed legislation, parliament would take action to prevent it happening. They think a request from the uk is inevitable, it is just whether it comes from the Prime Minister or someone else or whether it comes from its senior Civil Servant or somebody like sir tim barrow, the eus ambassador, the uks ambassador to the eu. They have not started talking officially yet on the eu site about how they would handle that request. When they do, it would be the same questions they had and the same decisions that had to be made the last time and the time before that when there was an extension request. How long should it be . What is the optimum duration . Is it something short that creates extra time pressure on mps and the government to come up with something and end this . Or is it something longer that allows a bigger process to happen in the uk, like an election, a referendum or a fundamental rethink about what brexit is about and what the uk is trying to achieve . Then what conditions can be attached to the extension . The last time the big debate we had four days and days was about with the uk have to have the European Parliament elections . The eu decided, yes, if you are staying m, eu decided, yes, if you are staying in, the european elections had to be hell, and that is where we have ended up where we are now. Adam fleming in brussels. In a moment the weather, but first heres Victoria Derbyshire with what shes got coming up in her programme at ten. This evening and overnight, hanging on to lots of the showers. The odd flash of lightning. Blowing quite quickly from the west to the east but no problems with frost orthography. With gusty winds from the west to the east, there will be highs of up to 15. The headlines a warning the brexit talks could collapse this week. Government Officials Say theyre not disputing the prediction from a downing street source who says the uk will be uncooperative if forced to stay in the eu. It sounds angry and desperate, and the language that is used, i do not believe should be the language of a uk government. Turkey says its ready to begin a military operation in syria, as President Trump defends his surprise decision to pull out us troops. The Prime Minister calls Extinction Rebellion protestors uncooperative crusties as he urges them to stop blocking londons streets. Some children are inhaling the equivalent of nearly one packet of cigarettes every week due to air pollution, according to new research. Well speak to the lawyer for the family of harry dunn, who was allegedly killed in a crash involving a us diplomats wife. The Prime Minister has urged the United States to reconsider giving her diplomatic immunity. Time now for the morning briefing, where we bring you up to speed on the stories people are watching, reading and sharing. Extinction rebellion is gaining popularity on twitter in the uk, as campaigners start their second day of protests in the capital. Its part of a two week global protest calling for urgent Government Action to reduce Carbon Emissions. Yesterdays events caused significant disruption as activists set up blockades and chained themselves to vehicles and railings. This morning, Extinction Rebellion said they will continue with their action until the government takes action. The uk invest more than all the other eu countries in fossil fuel subsidies, and it still continuing to do so. In the past five years weve invested more than £250 billion in offshore fossil fuels, oil, gas. Weve just approved the plans to bring four new oil fired. Gas fired turbines at the drax power station. We are still going ahead with hs2, which is going to be the biggest deforestation project since the beginning of world war i. We are heading for the sixth mass extinction event. Its notjust about Climate Change but it is also about species loss. Threatened with extinction is 1 million species across the world. We depend on these species for our food, for our livelihood. We are losing the bees that pollinate the plants that we need to survive, we are losing earthworms that help the soil, we are losing one in five british mammals is now in threat of extinction last year. Sorry, one in four, last year it was one in five, so it really is rising. We havent seen fossil fuel emissions. Well, Carbon Dioxide levels this high for over 250 million years. And last time that happened we had 97 of life on this planet was extinguished. We really need to do something now, and the government has been accused of hypocrisy at the fact they say that they are bringing down emissions but actually they failed to meet seven out of their 2a targets to bring down emissions. That was a report that was made by the governments own advisers, panel of advisers, in justjuly of this year. Some thomas cook passengers say they are stuck abroad and are unable to fly home, after the firm collapsed. Julie paige, who was due to fly home today, says she booked a flight only deal with thomas cook, but hasnt been able to purcase a new flight after her original trip was cancelled. The flight is not covered by the industry Insurance Fund atol, and falls just outside the two week repatriation scheme organised by the Civil Aviation authority. Ms paige said she did not have enough money to book a return flight to the uk and did not know what to do. And one story that was trending late last night, the news that Pizza Express has reportedly hired financial advisers, ahead of a meeting with lenders to review its debt situation. The chain, which has almost 500 stores and was founded in 1965, has made losses for the last two years despite operating profits because these were offset by high Interest Payments on a huge debt of more than £1 billion. Lets look at what you are reading and watching. At number one, as it is many days, politics, the uk prepares for breakdown in talks with the eu, the story we have told you about already. At number two, this is something that happened in the summer but the details seem to just be emerging, an investigation at center pa rcs after a be emerging, an investigation at center parcs after a man and two children were hurt after a raft flipped over during a water ride at the compa nys longleat flipped over during a water ride at the companys longleat park in the middle of august, this was on the Tropical Cyclone ride. Looking at what you are watching, at number one, many of you looking at this feature from the bbcs moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg who has travelled to former east germany, this is to do with the 30 Year Anniversary of the fall of the berlin wall, the iron curtain lifting, changes to the soviet empire, he is examining how russia views this 30th anniversary. We will hopefully get rid of that Software Update on the screen and a second he has travelled to a complex near berlin with tens of thousands of soviet troops at that time. He is. Im sorry, ive gone on the settings, i didnt mean to do that, i was trying to get rid of that. There we go, it is live tv. That is a really interesting feature that lots of you are looking out at the moment. Number six, we lots of you are looking out at the moment. Numbersix, we were lots of you are looking out at the moment. Number six, we were telling you in the headlines about new Research Suggesting children are breathing in the equivalent of almost a packet of cigarettes a week, this features families from sheffield who have taken part in a test to see who breeds and more pollution on the school run, kids who walk, go by bicycle or go by car. If you look at that you can see the answer to that. Quite interesting. Thats it for todays morning briefing. Lets get a full round up from the bbc Sports Centre with sally nugent. Good morning. Andy murrays remarkable return from injury continues apace. Its been confirmed that hell play singles at the Australian Open in january. That will be the first time that hell have played singles at a grand slam since major hip surgery earlier this year. Helljoin the main draw in melbourne with a protected ranking of number two, and restored physical powers, according to the tournaments official website. Murray is currently playing the shanghai open and is through to the second round after beating argentinas juan ignacio londero. If murray does play and it is an if given that he is still working his way back from injury then it will be a huge comeback from last years Australian Open. That was when we learntjust how close he was to retiring from the sport altogether because of the constant pain he was in. A couple of weeks later he had hip surgery, and hes now moving towards what would be the most incredible comeback. Lots of speculation about the future of the Manchester United manager ole Gunnar Solskjaer this morning. United are on a really poor run their worst start to a League Season for 30 years and they lost to newcastle on sunday. They play leaders liverpool next, and some reports suggest that solskjaer could be sacked if they lose that one badly. They cannot sit there honestly and say he does not look like a rabbit in the headlights. Has he improved the team this season . No, he hasnt so, i mean, theres worrying, worrying times. How can you see united getting out of this slump . Weve talked about lukaku, letting him go, and sanchez this that and the other. Theres been huge mistakes made. After the result at the weekend and their performance, i really do fear for him. Solskjaers struggles providing plenty for this mornings newspapers to go at. The times says that the man himself is worried about his job if they lose heavily to liverpool at old trafford a week on sunday. A picture of Dina Asher Smith coming home, there. Losing it is the headling in the mirror. And the star says that uniteds owners arent panicking just yet, and wont sack solskjaer before that match against livewrppol. Another manager under pressure is tottenhams mauricio pochettino, and hell be without his captain for the rest of the year. The club say that goalkeeper hugo lloris dislocated his elbow after falling awkwardly in their 3 0 defeat to brighton on saturday. He doesnt need surgery, but wont be available until at least the new year. Plenty of Womens International football to look forward to today, including wales, who are aiming to reach their first major tournament at the european championships in england in two years time. They continue their road to qualification against belarus tonight, having drawn 2 2 with Northern Ireland last time out. Within the camp we have expectations and we have standards, and we didnt meet that in the game. And, to them, i think they deserve to get a draw, at least, from us. And, you know, for us, it was a wake up call. It was a kick up the bum and were ready, we want to get three points and we dont care how we play. For us, its about three points. No one remembers a good performance. As hosts, england have already qualified so theyre playing portugal in a friendly tonight. Its a testing time for phil nevilles side their defeat to brazil on saturday was their fifth match without a win, and theres growing pressure on the manager to turn theirform around. You can watch that match live on bbc four at seven oclock tonight. Could a Tropical Storm play a part in knocking ireland or scotland out of the Rugby World Cup . Typhoon hagibis is moving closer towards the Southern Islands ofjapan, where ireland are due to play samoa on saturday and scotland play japan on sunday. The rules say any match postponed due to weather is called a no score draw and that could see either scotland or ireland go out. World rugby has been in touch with us and they are as keen as we are, as you are, to get this game played. I believe there is a contingency plan in place. I think theres updates every 2a hours but we just get on with our dayjob and trying to be best prepared every single day, and we will see what comes of that. Well, world rugby say theyre monitoring forecasts and have contingency plans in place should key pool matches be affected. The weather could also have an impact on the japanese grand prix thats due to take place in suzuka on sunday. And this has been doing very well on social media this morning tyson fury swapping the boxing ring for the wrestling ring. Here he is getting into a scrap with pretty much everyone during wwes raw event. All very silly, but there could be a career there for him if he ever decides to hang up his gloves. Stranger things have happened. Before we go, dont forget sportsday, all the days sports news at 6 30pm on the bbc news channel. Thats all the sport for now. Thank you, sally. The Prime Minister borisjohnson has urged the United States to reconsider giving a diplomats wife immunity. Anne sacoolas is wanted by police after the death of motorcyclist harry dunn in late august. Despite promising to stay in the country sacoolas returned back to the usa. Speaking to bbc breakfast, harry dunns parents spoke of the distress the situation had caused. As a mother myself, and many other people have come forward in support for us, all the way around the world now, even more support from the usa in the last 2a hours, you know, it just. Its really distressing not to have any word from her, being a mum herself. Its. Yeah, i cant get my head around that. It doesnt sit well with me. Well, joining me now is the familys lawyer, radd seiger. You are a lawyer but you are not acting as a lawyer, your acting as a friend, a representative. Your son was good friends with harry so you know just how the family is suffering. Unimaginable to go through the situation and have this additional stress of trying to get justice . We feel like we are in the ifa storm. It is an absolute hurricane. There is not much sleep going on, the family, as the whole world is now seeing, they arejust simple, humble, normal people who find themselves really in the middle of something that they certainly cant comprehend. Given what they do for their jobs. Cant comprehend. Given what they do for theirjobs. They are grieving for theirjobs. They are grieving for theirjobs. They are grieving for their son, who only died six weeks ago and it is still very raw and emotional and now they are having to try to pick their way through seemingly a diplomatic minefield with all this stress and confusion and frustration and anger. It is difficult to put into words what this family are going through. They simply want Anne Sacoolas to face a due process, a process . Absolutely, it is not a difficult question. If any others had suffered this, you would want to see those responsible held to account. Allegedly. Allegedly, it is not up to was, it is through the court system, but if they suspect disappears i think we can all understand that human beings how that would leave you feeling. Do they feel that the British Government, that Boris Johnson, they feel that the British Government, that borisjohnson, has applied sufficient pressure yet on the United States government to assist them . The family clearly do not operate at that sort of level. This family felt largely abandoned until about a week ago when i went and knocked on their door to see if i could help in anyway. They were simply told the woman had gone, there were appeals being made at the Foreign Commonwealth Office but there was not much feedback or much satisfactory feedback, so inevitably they were suspicious and felt like they were suspicious and felt like they were suspicious and felt like they were being fobbed off. Did they realise that that point that they needed to effectively jump realise that that point that they needed to effectivelyjump up and down and say, look at this case, get publicity for the case so that in downing street they would start to ta ke downing street they would start to take notice . In the middle of their darkest hour they did not know where to turn. They are a very large extended family, i have met about 40, simply none of them knew what to do. Yes, they felt something needed to be done, but they have no contact in the media, and political levels. We all met in a large room locally and we said, right, we want to bring Anne Sacoolas back. Briefly, what is the next step now borisjohnson has urged the us to look again at giving immunity to Anne Sacoolas, what is the next step if the us does not respond in the way harrys family want . The family is looking at all available options, including appointing legal representatives on both sides of the atlantic, we will head to washington if we need to carry on our search forjustice. Radd seiger, thank you for talking to us. Borisjohnson has described Climate Change protestors blocking the streets of london as uncooperative crusties and urged them to stop causing disruption. 320 people have been arrested in the capital since the protests began yesterday. 30,000 people are expected to take part in a second day of action organised by the Extinction Rebellion group. We can cross now to Keele University and speak to dr Sharon George, who is a researcher and lecturer in environmental sustainability and green technology. Lets begin, good morning, with those comments from the Prime Minister. In a way, that will give the group Extinction Rebellion the sort of publicity they want to continue to have around their protest . Exactly, the reason these people are protesting in the first places they feel nobody is listening, and the Scientific Community has been saying this message for 30 years and nothing is happening fast enough, so that frustration is being felt through protests. And yet now, just at the point where the Prime Minister has the opportunity to listen, he comes out with that statement. Yesterday i was worried that these protesters might be losing a bit of public sympathy, we had the attenborough effect when there were the really emotive images in the bbc programme and now, after hearing that this morning, one sweeping statement, he has belittled the whole Climate Change movement. I think the Scientific Community are reeling from that description. Picking up on something you said, doctor george, do you feel Extinction Rebellion are quite polarising as a group . There might bea quite polarising as a group . There might be a of people who support theiraims might be a of people who support their aims but they find the group and their methods quite polarising . I think and their methods quite polarising . Ithink any and their methods quite polarising . I think any protest group has the potential, when you have prolonged protest Movement Like that and as the action becomes a bit more extreme, i think people who might be quite tolerant of the inaudible is that moves on the inconvenience becomes prolonged. I think there is a potential for that polarisation. But this is quite different because this affects everybody, Public Opinion is quite high about Climate Change and people are waking up to the fact that this is something we need to deal with, and i think people are frustrated that nothing is happening fast enough. Ultimately, of course, the aim of any protest group is to ensure that the protest leads to action. Do you see any evidence that what Extinction Rebellion are doing is leading to action . I think what it is doing is bringing it back to the forefront. At the moment, with Everything Else that has happened, with europe and brexiter, the tendency is for issues like this to be forgotten and pushed to the back of the public mind, but this has brought it right back to the top. We are talking about it now on the news. From that perspective the demonstrations have been highly successful. Doctor Sharon George from Keele University, thank you very much. Poor air quality means some children inhale the equivalent of nearly one packet of cigarettes every week, while on the school run, according to research by the university of sheffield. Three families took part in a test to see whether children who walk, bike or go to school by car breathe in the most pollution. Luxmy gopal reports. Ready to go . Another day, another school run. And its children, their lungs still developing, that are particularly at risk from air pollution and diseases linked to it. Now academics in sheffield have analysed pollution levels on the school run by giving 45 families a monitoring device. Green means good, yellow means its quite pollutional, red means bad, and purple means very bad. The study showed children are exposed to pollutants equivalents of smoking 17. 5 cigarettes a week, which theyve caluclated by comparing the number of deaths caused by smoking and by air pollution. The families have been troubled by the results. It did kind of keep me awake at times. I was really concerned. I spoke with my husband whether we should move house. But are some means of travel worse than others . We experimented with three families going to the same school in three different ways to show which has the most exposure to air pollution. Cycling, driving or walking . Time to guess which was worse . Walking cycling walking before the results reveal all. The study shows the air pollution concentration is the highest inside the car, followed by cycling, and then walking. Thats quite surprising. I would have thought that in the car you would have a bit more protection. Cars have a Anne Sacoolas at the front. Cars have a grille different. They trap exhaust from cars in front of them, and tunnel them into this toxic box that is the car. The government has let down children in the country and has let them down very badly. Because what we need is to speed up this transition to electric vehicles. The government is working across departments to tackle this really important issue, and dont forget that we are the first government to set net zero emissions by 2050, that is groundbreaking, and our clean air strategy has been termed round breaking by the who. So we are definitely on the right track. Sheffield city council says it has measures including a clean air zone, investing in green vehicles, and discouraging idling vehicles outside school zones. But for parents and these children, clean air cant come soon enough. Not everyone has the chance to travel to rome to marvel at the work of italian renaissance artist michaelangelo, but from today visitors in hull will be able to see life size copies of his Sistine Chapel frescoes. A six metre square reproduction of the lastjudgement is on display at hull minster. Its among more than fifty detailed exhibits and is the first time images of the artwork has been on show other than the vatican city. Now take a look at this. This image was captured by the subaru telescope in hawaii note the white dot highlighted in orange. An hour later, the telescope took this next image, showing the orange dot move with every other celestial object staying in place. These images confirmed for a Research Team from the us, the discovery of a new moon orbiting saturn. And it wasnt alone. The team have discovered 20 new moons orbiting saturn. And thats important, because it has now overtakenjupiter as the planet in our solar system with the most natural satellites. Lets ta ke lets take a look at the Weather Forecast with simon king.
