And, as parkrun turns 15, ill be finding out why millions of people are notjust benefitting physically, but how it is helping their Mental Wellbeing too. Its movie week on strictly well catch up with mike and his three daughters as prepares to take to the dancefloor as magic mike. Good morning. Quite a mixture of weather this weekend. Today looks like Western Areas will see the thickest cloud and rain, further east should be brighter. Tomorrow, a reversal of fortu nes east should be brighter. Tomorrow, a reversal of fortunes with the east saint heavy rain. All the details a bit later on. Its saturday, 5th october. Our top story the duke of sussex has launched a legal battle against the tabloid press taking action against the owners of the sun, the now defunct news of the world, and the daily mirror, in relation to alleged phone hacking. pres its not yet clear when prince harrys allegations date from but in a phone hacking trial in 2011 he was named, along with Prince William, as a victim. His move follows the announcement that his wife meghan is taking separate legal action against the mail on sunday. Ben ando has more. The end of another high profile tour fulfilling their royal duties, meeting and greeting, but amid ever frostier relations between the prince and the press. Now, harry is suing the publishers of two tabloid newspapers, the sun and the mirror, over allegations his mobile phone was hacked, its thought, in the early 20005. The phone hacking scandal led to the closure of the mighty news of the world newspaper in 2011. And, during a trial that year, princes harry, william and kate middleton, now the duchess of cambridge, were named as victims. But why is the prince suing now . Royals rarely reach for a lawyer or a writ, and the reason is that its such a high Risk Strategy. They can be cross examined, they can also have disclosure go to places that they dont really want. So it is a very high Risk Strategy, the things that are outside their control, but its also a high Risk Strategy for the editors who are going to have to give evidence too. There are strong suggestions that in taking this action, harry is ignoring the advice of palace officials. But ever since he refused to take part in the traditional newborn baby photocall when his son archie was born in may, its been clear that the duke of sussex is ready to challenge expectations of how much or how little privacy members of the royal family can expect. On tuesday in south africa, the duke accused britains tabloids of a Ruthless Campaign against his wife meghan, and she started Legal Proceedings against the mail on sunday, claiming it unlawfully published a private letter. It seems the sussexes believe only the courts can give them the privacy they feel theyre entitled to. Ben ando, bbc news. The former editor of the daily mirror, Roy Greenslade, says prince harry has launched a no holds barred attack on the press. That kind of outburst that we saw earlier this week was not just suddenly a one off, but obviously a campaign, a full frontal assault on the tabloid newspapers. It is a declaration of war, in effect, which several papers have carried the story today, not, i notice, the sun and mirror but other papers have covered the story, saying much the same thing. They see this in the context of the prince really saying, enough is enough, im going for the tabloids. A british australian woman and her australian boyfriend have been released from a prison in iran after being held for three months. Jolie king and mark firkin were arrested for reportedly flying a drone without a permit. Australias foreign minister says tehran has dropped all charges against the couple. More than 1,600 uk high street shops have closed as a result of restructuring deals since the beginning of last year, according to new figures. The local data company has looked at the impact of so called Company Voluntary arrangements and found that nearly two thirds of closed stores are still sitting empty. Our business correspondent, emma simpson, has more. Theyve been trading for more than 100 years at the store. A Family Business that prides itself on its expertise and service. They have been keeping a close eye on their high street, too. And these last two years, its lost a bit of its sparkle. This is the prime shopping area. Its lovely. Its a lovely street, and yes, its always been a premium shopping street in harrogate. But youve got gaps now. Weve got gaps, and its very sad to see. Five years ago, it would have been unthinkable to have these empty units. Its a real shame. Even this attractive and popular spa town isnt immune from our changing shopping habits. I think its the cost of trading in harrogate is quite high, rents are high, rates are high, and i think all that needs to happen is footfalljust drops a fraction, it becomes less viable. Its the big chains that have been pulling out. A familiar story on high streets up and down the country, and we have been crunching the numbers. Since the start of 2018, 23 chains have done restructuring deals to cut costs. There are known as Company Voluntary arrangements, a form of insolvency proceedings. So far, 1,676 outlets have shut, mainly in retail, and nearly two thirds of them are still sitting empty. Here was one of them. This used to be the Early Learning centre. They shut the doors and handed back the keys, leaving the landlord with substantial repairing liability, up to possibly £100,000. Now this letting agent is trying to fill the gap. Its the toughest market ive ever known for retail properties, landlords have to reduce rents, the government have to reduce the rates liability, which is substantial, and i think councils have to help by reducing car parking, having free parking or Something Like that. You wouldnt let it to a chain again . I dont think so, no. Heres another chain that left, but its just got a new lease of life. This local business got a deal and moved in. 0ur landlord has been lovely, and hes taken a chance on us. We are an independent, family run business and we wanted to bring Something Back and to be in the town centre, and looking around, this is what people want. While other town centres are battling for survival, the challenge here is keeping harrogate special. A recipe that might now need a tweak. Thousands have taken part in unplanned protests in hong kong, after the territorys government announced a face mask ban. It comes after an escalation of violence during protests on tuesday, when an officer shot a demonstrator. 0ur china correspondent robin brant is there for us now. We have been watching with interest your coverage today, as the hours have gone by. Tell us what is happening there. Well, this is the centre of hong kong, it is the premium shopping district, really. We are in the middle of the state. It is not what it should be like, this is not what the politicians wa nt to this is not what the politicians want to see on a saturday in the beginning of october. That is partly why they have instituted those emergency laws yesterday, to try to prevent protesters from wearing face masks. There was a gathering of about 2000 people have half an hour about 2000 people have half an hour a day. It marched a mile or so, and we ended up here. It was peaceful, there were no police, but lets talk about the facemask band. This group of women are all wearing masks, which is illegal at the moment. There was a big number of people amongst the protesters also wearing masks, so that tells you what the protesters think about that attempt to force them to hide their identity. Stop them hiding their identity. Stop them hiding their identity. The metro system has been shut down. About 50 yards over there is an entrance to central station, which should be open and thriving with people. That is not happening today, and i suspect that is being effective because it is harder for people to get around and to get to play chess, it is harder for people to get onto the streets. We know that metro system will stay shut today might harderfor that metro system will stay shut today might harder for people to get onto the streets. Robin, thank you. When you think of someone with a lot of shoes, Imelda Marcos or perhaps Carrie Bradshaw from sex in the city might spring to mind. It was said that officers were too quick to believe accusations by carl breach beach. Harvey proctor, thank you for talking to us this morning. Can you tell us what happened when you were investigated . Good morning, and thank you for the invitation to come on your programme. The question is a short one. The answer could take many hours. I have been under the cosh, or the truncheon of the metropolitan police, for nearly five yea rs metropolitan police, for nearly five years now. It is very harrowing to be investigated, or to be the centre of such an investigation for so long, and the ramifications of it. But, as people know in shorthand, what happened to me was that i lost myjob, my home, and my repeat as a result of a fantasist, who were believed by the metropolitan police, and who castigated his comments as credible and true. They were neither credible and true. They were neither credible nor true. They were untrue, and they were incredible. Any common sense person would realise that what he was saying was not credible. What holds in his story do you think could have been picked up on early . Quite clearly, the metropolitan police went to a districtjudge to get a search warrant to search my house and that of two others, and there were numerous contradictions before the application for the search warrants and they were not deployed before the districtjudge. For example, they lied about who went to carl beech. They said he went to carl beech. They said he went to carl beech. They said he went to the police in 2014. He didnt, they went to him. They did not look at the previous interviews he did with Wiltshire Police when he made allegations of similar, but slightly different allegations, so that there were all sorts of things that there were all sorts of things that there were all sorts of things that the police could have done that they did not do. Clearly, they did not look at his mother s interviews much earlier, which cast doubt on his story. I should say, the metropolitan police have given as a lengthy statement but i do need to give some right of reply. The metropolitan police has said, there is no evidence or the independent 0ffice is no evidence or the independent office for Police Conduct investigation, which has concluded and said the allegations made were great and warranted investigation. We believe those involved in applying for the search warrant acted with Due Diligence and in good faith at the time. There was no evidence to indicate bad faith, malice or dishonesty, no indication any of the officers may have behaved ina manner any of the officers may have behaved in a manner which would justify disciplinary proceedings. The ia pc is not an organisation fit for purpose to control and interrogate the metropolitan police. If you want to give the right of reply, could i suggest your programme invite Cressida Dick, the current commissioner, who lied on radio recently about these matters, onto your programme to question her about her lies, and why she has made those lies . Could i suggest that you get in touch with your Home Affairs Correspondent for the bbc, who messed up potentially the investigation into carl beech, and as has been said, by showing photographs to carl beech of children that i am supposed to have murdered could have the bay of any criminal action. I am going to interrupt you. You are talking across me that is because the bbc are very sensitive about any criticism whatsoever that may come your way. I will continue this conversation. By talking across me, you are not doing what the bbc should do, and that is to give a right to comment. You are sensitive about this and i understand this. The bbc are sensitive in view of the criticism, not just of the bbc are sensitive in view of the criticism, notjust of the police but the bbc has received in the report yesterday. Iopc has found there was no wrongdoing by Cressida Dick, as you havejust there was no wrongdoing by Cressida Dick, as you have just said. There was no wrongdoing by Cressida Dick, as you havejust said. No, sorry please let me talk and i will let you talk, that is how this works. You just said that iopc have found no evidence of Cressida Dick line. Hold on. The iopc have not interviewed Cressida Dick. She was not interviewed. Invite Cressida Dick onto your programme. Invite me onto the programme, and lets have a debate about it. She wont come. I wa nt to debate about it. She wont come. I want to get to how this has impacted you, but i need to do myjob as well. I respect your work very much, but you must not invite people onto your programme and then not allow them to speak. I am allowing you to speak, and i will allow you to speak. I also need to give a right of reply, rather than letting you say things that are potentially incorrect, or when people dont have a right to reply. I am sorry, i am not having this. Harvey proctor, former conservative mp. What is clear is the impact that this investigation has had on his life, as he said at the very beginning, how it has impacted him. Harvey proctor talking to us this morning. Former conservative mp. Yes, it is clear it is a story that has affected him very personally. Lets have a look at the time. 9 16am. Now, the weather. Iam i am starting again with this photograph, it is just so lovely. It is near the banks of loch lomond. This weekend is going to be quite a mixed with wet weather working in from the west today, the east should stay dry, and as we head into tomorrow, the east will be wet with Western Areas turning drier and brighter. This weather front is putting in as we speak, bringing thicker cloud to Western Areas. This area of low pressure is going to bring some wet weather as we head into monday. We start off on a chilly night across the north east of scotland. Here, we see the best of scotland. Here, we see the best of the sunshine through the day, but windy with one or two showers in the northern isles. Lots of sunshine elsewhere, temperatures generally around the low to mid teens. Turning better for western scotland and the hebrides and the west coast of argyll and into the highlands. Northern ireland also turning very wet and windy later in the day. That main pushing into western parts of england and wales. There the east, staying largely dry with variable cloud. Hazy at times, the sunshine, with highs of 16 celsius. The rain across Western Areas continues to trundle eastwards overnight, heavy bursts and even a rumble of thunder, which will cause some issues as the ground is saturated in places. Some localised flooding is possible. Drier by the end of the night across Western Areas, temperatures holding up Western Areas, temperatures holding up in double figures. The weather front parks itself across the eastern half of the uk through sunday. This ridge of High Pressure pushes into bring drier weather to the south west and northern ireland. Very wet with heavy rain across the eastern side of the country and met 0ffice yellow warning is in force with localised flooding possible through the day. The rain will pull away from scotland, but staying wet across Eastern England and into east anglia as this area of low pressure develops and the winds start to pick up develops and the winds start to pick up across develops and the winds start to pick up across england and wales and the south west, which will be brighter for the afternoon. Some sunshine developing across eastern scotland as the weather front pivot further west. Temperatures are mid to high teens for many of us. Next week, it remains unsettled with low pressure systems of the atlantic, bringing wet and windy spells with some suntan in between. Thank you. Lets return to our main story now. The duke of sussex has launched a legal battle against the tabloid press taking action against the owners of the sun, the now defunct news of the world, and the daily mirror, in relation to alleged phone hacking. It follows the news that his wife meghan is taking separate legal action against the mail on sunday. Were joined now by royal commentator and historian, victoria howard. How surprising is this . It was a little bit surprising. The timing of it all. These lawsuits came off the back of the Southern Africa tour, which has been so successful, they have highlighted some amazing causes, which has been what has confused a lot of people. But it seems they are doing this at this time from a position of strength. They have got all that positive coverage, and they realise people are paying attention in a good way, lets show them the bad press we have had. We dont have all the detail, but we know that this case is now in place. What is confusing if the timeline here. We mentioned before, 2011, the phone hacking investigation took place in which Prince William s name was mentioned at that point. Why do you think now . Well, the legality of it means it has to be within the last six years that carry found out about the alleged hacking of phone messages. It is strange that they have had all that time to pursue this if they wa nted that time to pursue this if they wanted to. That is a legal detail over the length of time you have to bring a prosecution after you have knowledge. Absolutely. The news of the world scandal, with this phone hacking, we have seen the cases over the years with high profile figures taking them to court, and for this to come now is a little bit strange, but i think it is them doing it from a position of strength. It is a two pronged attack. Megan is taking on the mail group. Various media outlets, this is a war on media. We had Roy Greenslade on, former editor of the mirror, a while ago, before the time of perhaps when these allegations of phone hacking were being made. 2007 was the time. We wondered, do you think now the retaliation from the press is going to escalate in that sense, and how they then will react to that . To escalate in that sense, and how they then will react to that7m could definitely move that may come up could definitely move that may come up with the press saying, you are attacking us, we are not going to showcase the causes you are highlighting, but i think the way harry or, or the couple wanted to 90, harry or, or the couple wanted to go, is that they hope to settle out of court, which is often what happens. 0n the back of that, they would be an agreement to say ok, we will draw a line, we wont speak to her father will draw a line, we wont speak to herfather or will draw a line, we wont speak to her father or publish gossip stories about you. I think that is where they are trying to get to, but it is a risky strategy. Interesting, talking to Roy Greenslade, the former editor of a national newspaper, he set up the scenario that the decision in a way that the papers have to make as to which side of this the public are on. The legal case is a legal case, that will either go to court, or it wont. There are other issues around this, which are slightly harder to determine, which is, will this royal couple have public support in making the moves they are in principle . Definitely, and i think it is a split. From the social media attraction interaction i have, many of them support them and think that the coverage of megan and harry has been hugely biased, and some of the headlines have been disgusting. You see some of the wording used and it is horrific, but others think, this is part and parcel of being a royal and public figure, but there isa line, royal and public figure, but there is a line, and has it been crossed, i think that is where people are deliberating. What is your inkling as to how much support this couple is getting from the royal family, as a whole . The official line from buckingham palace. Yes, this seems to have been done without improvement from on high, as it were. The statement that harry released from meghan s no seat was sent from a website that has nothing to do with the sussex household or buckingham palace. Ithink to do with the sussex household or buckingham palace. I think they support them because they saw what happened with princess diana, but whether it was maybe the angry e mail that you dont send, that you just draft and delete, that is to be seen, whether it does backfire on them. Victoria, thank you. Unsurprisingly, this story is on the front pages as well. Harry steps up press war with phone hack claim, the Daily Telegraph says. The paper points out the timing of the dukes legal challenge, which comes just days after he announced his wife meghan was suing the mail on sunday. The guardian front page also features prince harry it says there are no details on the nature of the intended claims, but that they could refer to historical cases from the early 20005. The times reports that the review of the metropolitan polices investigation into vip sex abuse has led to growing demands for a criminal inquiry into alleged misconduct by Senior Officers a defiant borisjohnson insists britain will leave the eu on the 31st of october, according to the daily express. It reports a downing street source as downplaying the requirement for the pm to seek a delay if he does not achieve a deal. Dr nighat arif is here to tell us whats caught her eye. Good morning. Good morning. Some fabulous stories in the last hour. You have got a lot to live up to. Charlie, i hope you managed to do that maths teaser. There you go. This is very much your territory, you are a gp. Tell us about this. This is a story that talks about antibiotic resistance. In 2018, 12,000 admissions happened in hospitals because of chronic uti which are difficult to treat because of increasing resistance. I deal with about ten women a week who present with chronic cystitis. We are going to second or third line drugs with them, and the issue is, it isa drugs with them, and the issue is, it is a multifactorial problem. There are struggles to get appointments, we know that. Women suffer from cystitis, appointments, we know that. Women sufferfrom cystitis, which can be dealt with by drinking lots of fluids, and waiting, that we run to antibiotics. You can get them very quickly, and that is where defined resista nce quickly, and that is where defined resistance is happening. Now, people need iv antibiotics, hence the hospital admissions. This is on a bigger scale, and as a gp, we are finding there is more resistance, and we are going to struggle much more in the future. As women, we are more in the future. As women, we are more likely to get youre in infections, unfortunately because our anatomy. They can be very debilitating. You understand why women go to the doctor and say, this needs to stop now. I agree, but the difficulty is we need to find a balance because we are finding these resista nces. Balance because we are finding these resistances. There are lots of calls about the use of soya in the food change, and we have had Food Producers on before, the boss of burger king came on, trying to track backin burger king came on, trying to track back in the food chain, and being ethical is not easy. There is a really good article in the guardian that talks about this. I think the deforestation that comes about with the production of soya has to be taken into the production of soya has to be ta ken into account. The production of soya has to be taken into account. The big supermarket, tescos, m s, asda, morrisons, they have got a lot to account for. I am all for a healthier lifestyle and eating better, but it comes at the cost of deforestation and climate change, environmental damage that is happening, that is on the agenda for a lot of people, chrome lenny henry has been talking, it is a great quote,. That caught my eye and i had a giggle. That is so much of his humour, lenny henry. You find your comfort zone sometimes in the difficulty is you are going through at home. What made me think about this, if i can make a generalisation, where do you find the balance between being discipline areas and being strict with your children, trying to keep them on the straight and narrow, dont get involved with gang violence, but then also letting them run wild. Indeed, yesterday the ruling in scotla nd indeed, yesterday the ruling in scotland about banning smacking, for example. Yes, say you count as harsh smacking . I think the definition from the Scottish Council is that if it leaves a red mark, but it shouldnt even come to that point. I think there has to be a degree where communication skills play a huge role. And definitely, if you are hitting a child with a frying pan i shouldnt laugh. As a parent myself with three young children, that is the struggle, where do you find the balance . When they just the struggle, where do you find the balance . When theyjust dont listen to you. Yes, there is headlines coming from a very loving place. Anyway, it is a tribute to his mum. It is, and in the daily express, there is a double fold article by sir lenny henry, who talks in depth this. To a degree, there is a lack of education, poverty and awareness of education, poverty and awareness of what is going on. It is all encompassing when you are growing up in that environment. It is good to off load, so why not . That caught my eye. Thank you very much, lovely speaking to you. This is breakfast. They have been trying to mitigate this. Pick collisions, anything in the head area, immediately, a red card. It changes the dynamic of the game. It changes the dynamic of the game. It does, this was going to be the toughest test for england, disappointing for argentina but a big advantage for england no. 53 the lead. 5 3 the lead. Meanwhile, australia, beaten finalists four years ago, remain on course to reach the quarter finals after beating uruguay 45 10. Remember they were beaten by wales in the group. The new 200m World Champion was rested for this race but will return to the team for tonights final. After neil gourley qualified comfortably in his heat, josh kerr made it through in fourth, while Jake Wightman had a nervous wait to find out if hed made it, his seventh place finish was enough. And in the mens 20 kilometre race walk last night tom bosworth finished in seventh place. He was disqualified from the event at the last World Championships, and was delighted to finish strongly here. But hell be able to sympathise with fellow brit callum wilkinson, who was unfortunately disqualfied this time round, heartbreak there. Quite a story in rugby league. Gill dudsons opener made them start to believe. In the second half, joey lussick was under the post but facing a wall. He made a dent just enough to make the ball brush the line. Salford, try. Joy wigan were being pushed off home turf by the neighbours. For them, its a season thats fallen apart. Salford have one of the lowest budgets in the league. Here, they were supercharged. The grand finals at old trafford you can almost see it from salfords ground. Some mightve thought theyd never get there. Next weekend, it will feel like home. Joe lynskey, bbc news. All eyes on tottenham today, after a pretty disastrous week. They play brighton after being being beaten 7 2 at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on tuesday. A defeat that led to more questions over the attitude of the players and the future of manager mauricio pochettino. The argentinian insists his side can turn things around though. I cannotjustify the result. The result make. To appear bigger. Bigger things. And of course, you cannot stop the comments and everything. We have seen people with pushchairs, elderly, children as young as five taking part. Lets hope that when you mention, the londoner who set the parkrun up 15 years ago. Lets talk to that man you mentioned. Thank you for being with us on bbc brea kfast. Thank you for being with us on bbc breakfast. How does it feel to see so many people taking part in the event you set up 15 years ago . Its the most amazing day to be here today, knowing there are about 300,000 people across the world, ordering parkrun. And you can see from the people coming here right now, we are not runners, just people getting a little bit of exercise, having a great time with our mates, and for me, personally, it was all about clearing my head and helping my Mental Health. I was going to ask about that. I think we have a of that very first parkrun 15 years ago. A picture. What made you set it up . I was in a bad way, with all sorts of health and work related problems, and i felt the best thing i could do for my own Mental Health was to get my friends around me. It was to get my friends around me. It was a bit of a selfish thing, to say ill create this thing that will be ina park ill create this thing that will be in a park every single week from now on, my friends are just going to come and see me. It has grown and morphed and what you see today is truly a Mental Health revolution for the country and for the world, and it came from something that i felt was pretty selfish, 15 years ago. Simon, yourgp, you was pretty selfish, 15 years ago. Simon, your gp, you actually prescribe a parkrun to your patients . For about three years now, ive been prescribing to my patients, and i had 150 of my patients, and i had 150 of my patients who have come down to parkrun and theres just some astonishing results. It has transformed their lives. Ive had people with diabetes who got control of their condition, people with high blood pressure, an amazing man who had a huge heart attack to years ago, we celebrated his hundred parkrun last week. His family were there and what a tremendous occasion to see somebody come back from and celebrate 100 parkrun is. Just incredible experience. And you have just done this one, had to make you feel . Astonishing to be here with paul, 50 years after 13 people started here, knowing that in the uk, people are just getting out and doing some exercise and itsjust amazing to be part of that. Its just sensational. Thank you very much. Just look at all these runners over here, theyre going to get their time for todays parkrun. So if youre thinking about it and you had done it yet, i would really encourage you. had done it yet, i would really encourage you. If youre thinking about it and you havent done it yet. It is amazing. You have done it, how many times have you done it . I havent done it at all but i do plan to do one very soon in my local town, its definitely given me the motivation to get out and do it. Thats good to hear. I was wicked there, sorry but good to hear, it looks like a joyous event, joyous gathering of people. Its not looking too bad at all weather wise across central and eastern areas, but tomorrow certain if across the east of the country, there is going to be some pretty heavy rain at times. 0ne there is going to be some pretty heavy rain at times. Its normal to cringe when dads hit the dancefloor, but what about when your dad is rehearsing to take the stage on prime time saturday night tv . Is rehearsing to take the stage we can speak to our very own mike or should we say magic mike . And his three daughters about it in a moment but first lets take a look at his strictly come dancing journey so far. You were jumping higher than. You werejumping higher than. You are bouncing off the wall you came up are bouncing off the wall you came up with great energy, programme was good, entertained us, i thought it was delightful. I really enjoyed that from the beginning till the end. Keep that up likea end. Keep that up like a rhinestone cowboy. 0rd, dialling. Very, very odd. Odd, darling. You went for it what are you doing to me . What are you doing to the nation . You have a beautiful smile. Thisjust to the nation . You have a beautiful smile. This just does to the nation . You have a beautiful smile. Thisjust does not resemble american style foxtrot to me. Werejoined now by mike, who is in elstree and his daughters, lucy, izzy and sophie who are in andover. Say hello, everyone was up i know youre separated kammerer and say hello to one another. Hello hi, dad welcome to the girls are just a moment. Mike, will you painta little picture for us, especially can, of what will happen tonight . Theres been some speculation. Im right at the top of the iconic strip the staircase. I do apologise, theyre doing testing of the lights at the moment, you might hear the band, its a very busy time of day because in the next hour or so, the first of the couples will start rehearsing to the live band. Thats a very important part of the strictly saturday because its the first time you get to dance at the band and it can sound quite different to the rehearsal track. There is a saxophone or trumpetjust going off behind me. The dress rehearsal this afternoon, and then you get into your questions, so very exciting. Theres a special buzz about the place. All the dances will be based on a movie, mine will be magic mike, dancing the chacha chatter its raining men by the weather girls, and iconic track. I hope it will get people on their feet. But hopefully concentrating on the dancing as well, the chacha is very technical, so hopefully i will be able to show that after last week. Its a good job we can tell it to you by the said wet 0therwise we couldnt tell with lighting. By the silhouette. Hi, girls. The i know youre proud of that, but has it been a bit embarrassing . Yeah. No. I think is really surprised us. Hes got some real talent, honestly, i think hes really surprised a lot of people. So many, such positive comments, people are so surprised, but also he has fun and doesnt take it too seriously. And the entertainment that he brings, with the right technique with that, he could go a long way. I think its great because he combines his actual, like a hidden town with his personality and just bring such an amazing performance to the dance floor. Hidden talent. And the choreography, katya has just floor. Hidden talent. And the choreography, katya hasjust brought the best out of him on the dance floor. Its been a delight to watch it every saturday. Its brought so much excitement for us. So enjoyable. Have you managed to see a little bit of what mike is dancing this week . Not much. A tiny snippet on instagram, on their story, the couples rehearsing the sub so i saw a few seconds of it and i thought it was really good. So im excited to watch it. I dont know anything about it, im very excited to see. Its going to be a big surprise. Lets get back and have a quick word with mike. Tell us, do you have a ritual you go through before you go on air . Give us a little insight. What happens, you go up to the top we re what happens, you go up to the top were all the presenters stand and then you go down about two or three dances before and youre backstage in the corridor. In fact, ill take you down there now. Its better late. These are the stairs when you woke up and wait to go on. But literally down here is where about five minutes before you go on, this is where you rehearse you dance with your partner. Later there were ca bles your partner. Later there were cables in the way, people walking past and youre trying to rehearse this is the corridor were other water bits in the make up is done, so this is very busyjust before you go on. And this year is where is all the hive of activity. So you go downstairs with your partner, take a deep breath and then get into position during what they call the profiles et, where they play what youve been doing during the week. So this is quite a nerve racking time. You get into position, announce your name, they say your name and you come out onto the stage. Literally here. Our run out there now, this is where you a deep breath and try and think about the people close to you in your life, like my children, my daughter is there, and just focus on your partner, thats all you can do. Because if you get distracted by the lights and crowds, you could be distracted by your from your routine. I know you daughters are all well behind you, and very proud of you. Lovely to speak to you guys. Mike, we wish you all the best this evening. Enjoy it. And its lovely to see the girls, i havent really seen to see the girls, i havent really seen them for a week or so. Because training is hard work. Itll be worth it in the end have brilliant time. See you. Lucy, izzy and sophie, thank you so much. Have a lovely evening. Strictly come dancing is on tonight at 7 10 p m. When the a500 road was built in 1977, it cut a line straight through the middle of stoke on trent and led to the demolition of hundreds of homes and businesses. The dual carriageway is now the focus of a play, which tells the stories of the people whose lives were turned upside down by its development. Playwright Deborah Mcandrew and historian paul niblett are here now to tell us more. From the face of it, you think on the road being built, where is the story in that . But its something that tallies with other peoplessituations, communities and infrastructure makes a difference. Yes, and roads mean lots of things, they got kind of metaphorical meanings in myth and in song, in popular song, they always carry a lot of meaning. So the military structure start to unpick Something Like moment you start to unpick the the d road, the a500 or the d road as its known, youve got more thanjust d road as its known, youve got more than just a route from letter a to b. Youve got a mapping your hand, the physical significance of this road, what it almost did to divide some of the communities, the towns are made up stoke on trent. Stoke on trent is made up of towns from north to south, we never had a major highway through it. Of course, you can see from that, its a letter d. It forms a letter d with the m6, basically. There is the m6, there is the d. Its interesting because the roads exist in peoplesmines as much is in reality, it is interesting for a drama because it is also to things and peoplesmines. And its to improve peopleslives . Yes and also to change that will about the way that particular road runs, it runs along an ancient site of glacial vale, highland to one side and then went to the other, the posh people a lwa ys went to the other, the posh people always lived on one side, its a borderland. How does this come out in the play . The city of stoke on trent is fascinating to me asa stoke on trent is fascinating to me as a writer, it is full of stories and all sorts of things held on paradox and tension, pride and pain and memory and the current sort of issues that are facing the city now. So there is so much the kind of unpack and the road is about a grandmother, and her grown up grandson, who live on the d road. And what happens to those people and her relationship with it is very different from his. Lovely to see you both this morning, thank you very much. People dont use maps do they . Its all. They use electronics to get from a to b, but its lovely, actually. Lots of places in the country have ana road lots of places in the country have an a road or at the road, but nobody has 80 road g road. The d road will premiere at the spode works in stoke on the 16th of october. Thats all from us for today. Breakfast will be back tomorrow morning from six. Enjoy the rest of your day. Goodbye.
