And youve had a nightmare, recently, with me havent you . I just want to marry andrew and i want our friends to be there. Live pictures here of protesters gathering at a Shopping Mall in hong kong where they want shoppers to boycott com pa nies they say are pro beijing. Cities around the world will close their streets to traffic for world car free day. Organisers want to promote greener travel alternatives. Ireland are beating scotland in their first match of the Rugby World Cup injapan as england prepare to play tonga later this morning. And coming up at half past 10 a special edition of talking movies from venice, toronto and new york, on the excitement of Film Festival season. Good morning. Jeremy corbyn has told the bbc he was not aware of a planned vote among senior Party Figures to abolish the post of labour deputy leader. Speaking to the Bbcs Andrew Marr show, mr corbyn insisted he worked well with his deputy, tom watson, and dismissed suggestions the proposal at the partys Ruling Committee was designed to remove him. He also brushed aside a leaked memo from a Senior Adviser which accused the party of incompetence and again refused to say whether he would back remain in another referendum on brexit. Our assistant Political Editor norman smith is in brighton. Lots of questions to put tojeremy corbyn after turmoil at the start of this conference. What did he have to say . I think what we saw that the corbyn was trying to douse down some of the firestorms that have erupted at the start of this conference over tom watson, over his policy director Andrew Fisher announcing that he has had enough and that looming thundercloud of brexit. Which hangs over this conference. The other thing that i thought was interesting if youre asking what is going on, well, the answer is that itjeremy corbyns going on. He said that he would serve a full term as Prime Minister if he wins at the next election. I do not think i have heard him say that before. Now, there has been a little bit of chitchat around the margins of this conference around whether mr corbett might stand down sooner mr corbyn might stand down sooner mr corbyn might stand down sooner. So that labour above to get rid of tom watson he was not in position to orchestrate. Butjeremy corbyn saying that the idea of him going anywhere soon i was Wishful Thinking and pledging to serve a full term if he wins the next election. Mr corbyn at the moment is 70, that would make him 75 by the end of the next election. Elsewhere, what did we learn . Well, we like that mr corbyn said that he did not know about that motion tabled byjon lansman, head of momentum, trying to nobble tom watson. Im not all sing, of momentum, trying to nobble tom watson. Im not allsing, i not of momentum, trying to nobble tom watson. Im not all sing, i not all knowing, i did not know about that, but there was a public debate about the deputy leader was michael. As Andrew Fisher his policy director who has announced that he has had enough and is off by the end of the year, officially, because of his family and the pressure of the job, but it is difficult to meld the two. There have been suggestions of acrimony and infighting in the league puzzling office this morning, mr corbyn trying to play that down. I have obviously seen the words that andrew wrote and i discuss them with him at some length. He is wanting to leave in order to spend time looking after his son and his family be with his wife and family and this is a very stressful and fill a job and he is working with as for this rest of this year, but he will be rear for the general Election Campaign he will be here for the general Election Campaign. As we speak, he is downstairs. And we had a very convivial cup of coffee together with everybody else in the senior team in my office. So, the idea that there is some kind of. I do not know what youre leading up to here, but. I know what youre leading up to here, but. Lam know what youre leading up to here, but. I am literally not leading up to anything. I am going to picture his words. In light of human decency. Why do you think he said that . I think he said that because he was extremely distressed at that point about whatever was going on in discussions with him within the office at that moment. Mr corbyn said that the thing that they argued about most frequently was a football. Mr corbyn is a gooner, an Arsenal Supporter and andrew is a spurs fan. The focus are descended and not much is what we have found that as the honest answer. The latest policy formation from mr corbyn is this idea of going into the next election pledging to negotiate a new brexit deal. And then having a special labour conference after the next election, within three months, to put it to a referendum and to decide how labour will campaign in the referendum. We really still do not know whether mr corbyn is going to seek to remain above the frame of any future benefit referendum future brexit referendum. We did think that his party will take up a position, but what he did not indicate was whether he would take up a position he did think his party would take a position. Lam leading i am leading the party. I am proud to lead the party and proud of the democracy of our party and, of course, i will go wrong with whatever decision the party comes to, but i willjust simply say, and ive said this everybody, please rememberwhy ive said this everybody, please remember why people voted leave and why people voted remain. But also remember that there is more that unites all of those people over austerity, overinvestment, over investing of education, over health, over a green industrial revolution, over what divides in this conference of the people are talking about brexit, but there are also discussing every other policy that youve ever thought of. With a fantastic level of enthusiasm and excitement. Mr corbyn mixing there that were talking about every other policy issue. Lets talk about some of those. Prescription charges and of that. But significant policy and instance, particularly prescription charges, abolishing the £9 charge in england. It is already gone and scotla nd england. It is already gone and scotland and wales. A . , how do you pay for those . Of state had been around for around 25 years and angela rayner, the shadow education secretary is concerned that also puts the fear of god into teachers and students and creates unnecessary pressure and that there are better ways to do inspections and a more, shall we say, collaborative manner that does not terrify and put undue pressure on staff. Were also going to put policy announcements on training more gps get policy announcements and training more gps and a promise to have the uk be Carbon Neutral by 2030 rather than 2050 as the government is proposing. There are signs that we might get a beginners bit on social care, huge policy area, which basically Political Parties have stepped ahead any sense of it. We might get a policy bit on social care. And a very costly policy announcement. And on the floor by going to see proposals from things like phasing a private school, leading to a four day week and there are a plethora of policy announcements, the tricky bit is getting their money aiding with this huge issue of brexit hanging over the conference. They are getting thank you very much. The travel company, thomas cook, is meeting shareholders and creditors this morning in a final bid to piece together a rescue deal. The travel firm could fall into administration within days, unless it finds an extra £200 million. The company says, all our Package Holidays continue to be fully this atol protected and our Flight Operations continue to operate as normal. The British Travel association, abta, says thomas cook is operating as normal and all Package Holidays are protected. The foreign secretary dominic raab told the Andrew Marr Programme this morning that he hoped that thomas cook will get through its current troubles, but wanted to reassure customers that the government did have a contingency plan in place to help people if they were to get stranded abroad. Ido i do not want to talk in advance of the meeting of creditors that is taking place this morning or pre empting or interfering in any of that. Obviously, the department for transport and the Civil Aviation 30 are following it very carefully. We would wait to see and hope they would wait to see and hope they would continue, but in any event we have the Contingency Planning in place to make sure that in any worst case scenario, we can support all of those who might otherwise be stranded. I didnt want to say too much more as those meetings are ongoing. I suppose the only thing that im asking is if there is government money available to help the company are not . As i say, we do not systematically step in with the taxpayers money when businesses are going under unless there is a good Strategic National interest for doing so. I do not want to undermine any talks that are going on. We would like to see it continue as a going concern, but obviously, people wa nt to going concern, but obviously, people want to know that there are some reassurance that the Contingency Planning has been done and that, of course, we are doing that. planning has been done and that, of course, we are doing that. I suppose that, in terms of National Emergencies and so forth, 150,000 people stuck abroad is a pretty big one . This would be the biggest single civilian repatriation sent the work. Have you got the planes, the work. Have you got the planes, the plans to make it work . Just tell isa the plans to make it work . Just tell is a bit about how youre going to do it . Im not going to allow this to become a self fulfilling prophecy. We want to wait for that meeting to progress and see where we are. But issuance i can give you is that brightly the way across government, from the department for transport, the Civil Aviation authority, were making sure that all the Contingency Planning is in place. Of course, the Foreign Office will be involved in that would be involved in that because we have consular authorities and people who can assist with that. You will remember, the collapse of manic back in 2017. We have learnt a lot of lessons from that as well the colla pse lessons from that as well the collapse of monarch back in 2017. 0ur correspondent, angus crawford, is outside that crucial meeting in central london. That meeting at which they are trying to see if they can come up with the money for a rescue plan. What is the latest . 0ne Industry Insider has described this as the very last throw of the dice. For thomas cook. Inside there is a city law firm, we believe that all the Major Players are flashing this out around the table, thomas cook we believe are in there, the major investors and. And the biggest shareholder, full sun, the chinese company. The biggest investor, fosun, the chinese company. They are confident that hideo can be done, but only as everyone knows the cards on the table what happens next cammock the conflict that a deal can be done. There will be a thomas cook Board Meeting later this afternoon and we do not know exactly where. They are not under a legal obligation to declare until seven a monday morning of the results of these negotiations we anticipate by judging by other similar cases in the past that we probably will hear something in the middle of the night in the so called golden errors. That is when the aircraft that thomas cook run, all 90 of them will be grounded for the night. The so called golden hours. Thomas cook iremain so called golden hours. Thomas cook i remain very tight lipped at the moment. They are saying that we understand that people will be u nsettled understand that people will be unsettled by what is going on, but for the moment, Flight Operations continue to operate as normal. No news yet from inside. Thank you very much indeed for bringing us up to date on that. Hundreds of thousands of british tourists who have booked holidays with the company or are currently on holiday are anxiously waiting to find out what may happen. Sharon cook and Andrew Aitchison are due to get married in las vegas but are unsure if it wil happen or not. Will happen or not. Yeah, so were travelling to las vegas to get married and theres going to be 19 of our closest friends and family, hopefully, there. Weve been planning it for a year. Yeah, thats our plan. Were getting married at Caesars Palace in the venus gardens. Its all been planned to the minute detail, wejust. We were really excited and looking forward to it. How do you feel about it, sharon . Is it the trip of a lifetime . Absolutely. I mean, its something that andrew planned, himself. Hes done all of this, not to do with me, total surprise. Always wanted to be married in vegas. Weve been together for a long time about 14 years now. So, yeah, and to have our closest friends and family coming. Weve got a red theme for the wedding, so everything planned for all of that. Weve got bridesmaids, everyone travelling. So, we have a party bus, a fabulous reception. We have all these fabulous hotel rooms but unfortunately, if things go bad with thomas cook. Mr cook, my name is cook, too, if that helps. You know, we dont know what were going to do. And i sound a bit flippant, but obviously it is very emotional and it is an emotional time for any bride, im sure. You have had a nightmare recently with me, havent you . But now it is becoming sort of real and really, i just want to marry andrew and i want our friends to be there and that is the whole thing. Andrew, how did you feel when you woke up and heard the news about what is potentially happening . What is going through your mind . Yesterday when we woke up, sharon was already up and she told me that something is happening with thomas cook and then we were straight on the website looking, trying to find out and, you know, the tone of the report is that it is not really looking good for such an old company. And then your heart sinks. Everything you have planned. Youve planned it to the minute detail and then, all of a sudden, everything could come apart at the last minute. It is just a feeling of limbo at the moment and were not really sure what is going to happen and worried, but that is where we are at the moment. Might just be me and you, mightnt it . Yeah. What is that uncertainty like for you . Just kind of a knot in your stomach most of the time, to be honest, where you think. You also feel guilt that people are coming with you and youre putting them out as well to come to your wedding. Instead of thinking that everyone is coming to celebrate with us, it is now causing them all trouble as well, so you worry about that. Well, i do. Yeah. Just trying to keep focused on marrying andrew at the end of the day and just hope that everyone will be there. Were hopeful, but worried. Worried, yeah, absolutely worried. There are moments when i think, 0k, ill reach for a bottle of wine and im going to cry for an hour, but that is not going to help in any way, is it . So, weve got tojust keep going, havent we . Hong kong police have stormed into a Shopping Mall after protesters gathered there, demanding people Boycott Companies that they say are pro beijing. 0ur correspondent Stephen Mcdonell is in sha tin and joins us now live. Just bring is up to date. Just bring is uptodate. We have had pretty chaotic scenes at the sha tin Shopping Centre. You get these stand offs at between the hardline protesters and any place and they building barricades. We have this barricade inside Shopping Centre here. All of the further, there is a lot of very slippery sticky stuff that protesters have put down so that protesters have put down so that when the right place running, again, it will slow them down. They have used pens, bit of metal and the like to build a certain barricade here. They have used pins and bits of metal to build certain barricade here. We will show you that around. There is graffiti all over the place. Rubbish thrown down. This is one of the reasons why the police had to come in. They would say. If we move right over her, you can see that this is the entrance to. Im slipping as i walked because of all the slippery stuff being placed on the ground. This is the entrance to the underground train station. Now, the protesters claim the train operator for colluding with the government and police and that is why we have this graffiti here. What this means in chinese is that it is like the pa rtys chinese is that it is like the partys subway. It means that the subway is run by the communist party. 0ver subway is run by the communist party. Over here, look at the ticket vending machines. They have all been destroyed. They are sprayed with paint, some of them have actually been smashed in. So what was a peaceful setting here has changed into something very different when the more hardline elements of the so called Pro Democracy Movement decided to attack these assets at the mtr station. And just to put this into a broader context, you have been covering this weeks now. Where are they going . And are bigger . What is ultimately going to be the response of the and china . The authorities and china . There is a Certain Group of more hard core protesters and there will be thousands of them who are prepared to do that sort of thing. But amongst the protesters, the much larger group, amongst the protesters, the much largergroup, im amongst the protesters, the much larger group, im not going and smashing things, but i would just like back in here as where talking so we can say of the police are coming from the other direction. What they are working towards is the 0ctober what they are working towards is the october the 1st 70th anniversary of the formation of modern china. That is coming up. That is like a week away. And so they will be helping to crash that party. There will be back military parades in beijing and various celebrations and in hong kong, these hardline activists are hoping to put on their own party like an inverted commas and some would be wanting to turn out any much more peaceful way. I willjust walk through the slippery ground again here to where the protesters are. This its very slippery on the ground here. But that has the next flash point, flash point, so when we get to that day we will see the protesters dressed in black your full stop there are still many here. Despite the fact that the riot police have come into the Shopping Centre twice now. Chasing them out and then come back. I know theyre building at the barricades again here. Look, you can see a lot of these young activists. They are not deterred at the moment. The police hope they can arrest enough of them. We can see some of the destruction going on in a Shopping Centre now here. Trying to get to the site. So these are just adverts in the Shopping Centre that having smashed by activists. This is what some of the protesters a re by activists. This is what some of the protesters are prepared to do now. They think that destroying hong kongs economy is a kind of class. So that when some say, you know, youre affecting the way that people can do business here, they say, so be it. They want to inflict economic pain in the city. To bring about the democratic changes that they say are needed and they are being criticised quite a bit by some people here who might say that we agree with the principles youre standing by, but we do not necessarily think that you should be destroying public assets or destroying Shopping Centres because it is not the is it really the Shopping Centre operator thatis really the Shopping Centre operator that is your enemy or the subway operator . That is more word coming through that more things are beings smashed here. Theyre putting isabel is up to stop us from filming it actually. And that is because the police will get this petition and arrest people for the strong public property. They are putting these umbrellas up to stop us filming it. There is a hong kong political crisis is now into its third month. Briefly, the initial demand of the protesters are withdraw that extradition bill, that has been withdrawn. But now the demands are so much wider, so much bigger. Is there anything the authorities can actually do to satisfy this protesters . Actually do to satisfy this protesters . Well, i think that one of the things that they could do, but business groups have even recommended the government does is have an enquiry. Something like a Bell Commission that she would have in britain. I mean, why not do that. Ajudge somebody could in britain. I mean, why not do that. A judge somebody could look at these allegations that the police and some politicians have links to organised crime and that same independent observer might exonerate the place for that matter and it could take some of the heat out of this, but at the moment, something needs to be done to try and mend relations here because there is so much mistrust and people who have followed this one noticed how much more violent it has become. Earlier today we saw some of these activists bashing someone who disagreed with them. Now, a few months ago in hong kong, that would not have happened, but now both sides have all the scores to settle my. And so, i think this is why many think that the government could give them that enquiry. At least. As for universal suffrage, that is not something that the Hong Kong Government can get anywhere. That would be activation. Given these scenes, there is no way that beijing is going to cave in to that. If we have time, we might even get them closer and try to see summer this destruction that is going on. Because, you know, these are the images that its also hard to say because of the umbrellas. They are blocking it. These are the scenes that, in one way, the bashan government welcomes because they know that there are certain people in the community who call this sort of substrate had vandalism these are scenes that the beijing government welcomes. They are pulling at Electrical Equipment here. Pulling at wires. So there is a little panel has been destroyed. And it has a long way from those days of when we had hundreds of thousands of people protesting peacefully here will stop it has been a big change. The surprising thing, though, is the extent to which you get many supporting these protesters, despite this type of destruction. You might have thought that they would lose support. Here some people are dragging a sort of information desk from somewhere to ta ke information desk from somewhere to take up to the barricades there. At one point, the police are going to have to come in here, but it is difficult for them. This is a Shopping Centre which, just a few hours ago, was open with children Walking Around here and they cannot exactly Walking Around here and they cannot exa ctly co m e Walking Around here and they cannot exactly come in here with tear gas and firing rubber bullets and the like. So i think the police are biding their time. The longer they take, the most of his being smashed up take, the most of his being smashed up andi take, the most of his being smashed up and i think, to certain point, that they will just have to up and i think, to certain point, that they willjust have to come in here. At least, feel that they will have to come in here and clear that out. More stuff going through to the barricades there. This is the scene right now in sha tin in hong kong. Thank you so much for being with us. Dramatic scenes there in that Shopping Centre. Thank you very much. Lets pause and take a look at the latest sports news for you. Sport and a full round up from the bbc sport centre with holly. Whats that going on with the rugby . A lot going on that things have got a little bit quieter in the second half. Ireland have scotland have begun their Rugby World Cup campaign and that opening game is under way. In yokohama island went over the line three times in the first half alone. Those tries from james 0brien alone. Those tries from james obrien and my best and attack for long. Before the break they had 19 3 lead. And in the last few minutes, and the second half Andrew Conway has extended that lead, going over from around 50 metres to make it 20 43 from around 50 metres to make it 20 a3 from around 50 metres to make it 20 43 to from around 50 metres to make it 20 43 to make it 24 3. That rain is making it difficult for both sides at the moment. England face tonga in over a narrow cosmic time in sapporo. Four years ago they became the first nation to be knocked in the first nation to be knocked in the group stage, but they are going to this years it is one of the favourites and there is a huge sense of expectation around this england side. Eddiejones to take over as head coach following the 2015 exit. He says that his side now have a responsibility to show what they can do on the big stage. You get that feeling now that it is a real thing, youre there, youre on the big stage. And you look at the world cup, the world cup is about country versus cup, the world cup is about country versus country and now everyone is england, it is notjust rugby fans will be watching these games. It becomes a family event. The responsibility that you hold making sure that your country plays with pride and passion is very important. The early much this morning saw italy run any 47 22 when. They hinted at a possible upset as namibia took the lead, but italy eventually ran a total of seven tries to ease to a comfortable victory. They also picked up a bonus point, so they sit top of pool b, above the all blacks, after their opening games, while canada is yet to play. Australias winger rhys hodge has been cited for a tackle during a studys victory over fiji. His tackle so the pigeon fail a head injury assessment meant that he could not return to the field of free his tackle saw the fiji player file head injury free his tackle saw the fiji playerfile head injury and meant he could not return to. Lets step away from the Rugby World Cup as Manchester City mac came back from that shock defeat to norwich last weekend in emphatic style. With the devastating eight nil victory over watford 8 0 victory over watford by just the 18th watford 8 0 victory over watford byjust the 18th minute, they had made it five now and that is the quick as any team has made it to that margin any premier league. They had made it to 5 0. They claimed it with a hat trick. Elsewhere, there were wins for leicester, burnley and Sheffield United while newcastle and brighton finished goalless and there are four matches taking place today. All of them are in london. And the pick of them are in london. And the pick of them says leaders liverpool face chelsea at Stamford Bridge ahead of that western take on Manchester United with the hammers looking to extend their unbeaten run of games to five. The way we defend as a team, it is very important because we cannotjust team, it is very important because we cannot just believe team, it is very important because we cannotjust believe that the defences for the line. Of course they have more responsibility because they are near our goal. But if you do not have work as a team to re cover if you do not have work as a team to recover the ball, if you do not change from divinity attacking when you lose the ball, it is clearly difficult for the defenders to play well. In this moment, we are doing well. In this moment, we are doing well. That is why we have those results that is why we have those sheets. But we must continue to try to. The big guns in the Spanish League offending are going at the start of the season. There was another defeat last night for barcelona. They were
