He called it an unprecedented attack on the Worlds Energy supply and says theres no evidence the attacks came from yemen, even though Yemens Houthi rebels claimed responsibility. The attacks caused huge fires, one at the Worlds LargestOil Processing facility, and they may have an impact on the global oil market. Reports say as much as half of saudi arabias output could be disrupted. Our World Affairs correspondent paul adams, reports. Audacious attacks on the heart of saudi arabias economy. The abqaiq Oil Processing plant one of the Worlds Largest engulfed in flames, attacked by drones. The kingdoms second largest oilfield, khurais, also hit. The smoke visible from space, caught by a nasa satellite. Yemens Houthi Rebels are celebrating. Translation this Mission Comes as part of our legitimate and natural right to react to the crimes of the aggression and its continuous blockade on our country for the past five years. Aramco, owned by the saudi state, is one of the Worlds Biggest Oil companies. Khurais produces around 1 of the worlds oil. And abqaiq is capable of processing 7 of global supply. Some reports say half the kingdoms Oil Production will be affected. This could Impact Oil Prices in the coming days. In recent months, houthis have carried out a series of strikes on saudi arabias Oil Facilities, using missiles and drones, but the latest attacks are among their most destructive. This is embarrassing for saudi arabia. In this hugely uneven conflict, the houthis have once again demonstrated their ability to cause damage and fear in a war that shows no sign of ending. Paul adams, bbc news. Earlier i spoke to fatima al asrar, a non resident scholar at the middle east institute in washington. It was a bit suspicious when the herseys claimed it, just after the attack, a few hours later, i checked online and looked into the houthis claimed it official media website. Houthis claimed it. They are often very quick when they release information after conducting an attack. They often do it before the official saudi news comes out with any official statement. They didnt do so this time. And i was fairly surprised. So, this is number one, and number two is that if you look at the location, it did not seem to appear that this is within the firing range for the houthis. The military experts i spoke to said this was slightly outside of the range of what a drone attack or Ballistic Missile could conduct. Well, if that is the case, if iran did back this attack, why would they launch this attack on this site . 0h, imean, launch this attack on this site . 0h, i mean, this all has to do with the us iran escalation intentions. The timing is of the essence. We are three days away from the United NationsGeneral Assembly meeting. There is the proposal being floated by Emmanuel Macron on giving a 15 million line of credit to iran to help alleviate some of the Economic Hardship it is facing. But it is all contingent on president froms response. And i think that the Iranian Regime wants to tell trump that it could reach into places in the middle east where it could hurt us economic interests and the global interests, but it is completely within irans power to do so. And of course it is not the first time that the irgc, the republican guards, have used to be houthis to cover up for iranian militia. It would not be in their best interests to say that the iranians militia has conducted this, given the fact that they could come into confrontation with us troops based in the region. On that risk of confrontation, what do you think the reaction will be from saudi arabia and the United States now . There are only two possible scenarios. Either a military escalation, or we continue to pursue a diplomatic solution. I think a military escalation at this time would really further hurt both the United States and saudi arabia, because it would not only paint them is really eager to respond and attack iran or attack its militias, but there is just no appetite for war. People want to see this reversed. And especially, it is so close to the election cycle here, where we see the candidates are coming and really criticising the republicans for their stance, and President Trump for his stance in cutting the deal, the iran deal. So i think cutting the deal, the iran deal. So ithink iran cutting the deal, the iran deal. So i think iran is really taking advantage of atoms diplomatically, i think we can continue pursuing talks with iran, although it seems like iran has backed them into a corner where this may not be the response but trump response to that trump would prefer. Hamza bin laden, a son of osama bin laden, has been killed in a us Counter Terrorism operation. He was reported dead at the end ofjuly, but only now has that been confirmed by the white house. David willis reports. The white house hasnt released details of the operation that brought about the death of hamza bin laden or its timing. There have been various reports here in recent months suggesting that he had been killed, but this is the first time President Trump has confirmed the news. The son of the man who masterminded the september 11 terrorist attacks, hamza bin laden, had called for further attacks on the United States to avenge his fathers killing. And earlier this year, the Us State Department offered a Million Dollar reward for information leading to his capture. President trump, in a brief statement, said that as well as the symbolic connection to his father, the loss of hamza bin laden deprived alqaeda of important leadership skills and undermined the operational activities of the group. The state funeral for former president Robert Mugabe has taken place in zimbabwe. At the ceremony in the National Sports stadium, African Leaders paid tribute to him as a hero of campaigns that freed many countries from colonial rule and apartheid. But the event was sparsely attended with many zimbabweans choosing not to go. 0ur correspondent anne soy has been following the days events. A state farewell for Robert Mugabe the highest honour in zimbabwe, a country he led to independence and ruled for close to four decades. Family, including his wife grace, as well as current and former leaders from more than a dozen african countries, paid their last respects. They called him a Pan Africanist and a comrade. A giant tree of africa has fallen. To zimbabweans, he was a divisive figure. Indeed, the bold, steadfast and resolute revolutionary, combat Robert Mugabe is no more. Comrade. To zimbabweans, he was a divisive figure. For many, a man to celebrate and today commemorate. But for many more, he was a man who oversaw the economic ruin of his country, which has been plagued with hyperinflation and social instability. Zimbabwe was once a prosperous country. Some called it the breadbasket of africa. But the controversial land reforms and the subsequent sanctions forced the economy into a tailspin, and even today many people are still suffering. Because of this, many chose not to attend the funeral. Take, take, take everything. So we have nothing. We are educated, but we live from day to day. Life now is a bit difficult. For me, i cant blame mugabe or what, but we have to solve the thing amongst ourselves. Robert mugabe is honoured here as the countrys founding father. He is celebrated for his progressive education policies. But for unleashing violence against his people and refusing to leave power before he was toppled, an indelible blot remains on his legacy. Elizabeth seton spent much of her time at this grotto, and every year, hundreds of pilgrimages are made here. Now that she has become a saint, its expected that this area will be inundated with tourists. The mayor and local businessman regard the anticipated boom as just another blessing of st elizabeth. This is bbc news. Our top story the us secretary of state has blamed iran for the drone strikes on two saudi oilfacilities, saying theres no evidence the attacks came from yemen. Lets stay with that story now. I spoke to robert mcnally, a former Senior Energy adviser to the bush white house, hes now founder and president of Rapidan Energy group, a washington based geopolitical consultancy. I asked him why the abqaiq plant is so important. 0il oil is the lifeblood of modern civilisation and those of us who spent a lifetime analysing the oil market and working in Energy Security know that if the oil market has a heart, a beating heart, it is the stabilisation plant abqaiq. It is the most valuable piece of real estate on planet earth that nobody has ever heard of. Not only does it control about 5 of global supply, does it control about 5 of global supply, but more importantly, it controls most of what we call spare production capacity. That ability to bring on extra oil if there is a disruption. So it would be possible to think of a worse thing than a successful attack on abqaiq for the oil market and Global Economic growth, but it would be very difficult to think of that thing. It is what we call the big one in the oil markets. So we dont know the scale of the impact yet of the fires caused, but what do you think, best guess at this stage, the disruption could be . So far, it appears from press reports and other indications the damage has been light. I have seen reports that aramco expect to restart the facility in a couple of days. That is very good news if that is the case. Were there to be sustained damage, you are looking at 5 billion 5 Million Barrels a day ina 100 5 billion 5 Million Barrels a day in a 100 billion a day at 100 billion barrels a day mother. If by tomorrow evening, when the asian markets open, indeed it was the case that damage was light, i would expect only a few dollars a barrel hire. There is going to be a base geopolitical being put in. But if those facilities at abqaiq, and we are talking about special tailor made equipment that cant be easily or quickly replaced, if those columns and steroids are damaged or an extensive period of time, i think we will be heading back to the triple digits in oil prices. Fortu nately, triple digits in oil prices. Fortunately, it looks like the damage was light and we should all hope so. That is the impact on oil prices. What about International Relations element of this, particularly relations with iran . They will go up to a whole new level of risk. The people who have taken for this are iranian back. And what we need to find out now is where did the drones come from . If they came from iraq . That implicates everyone even more because because iran controls the group in southern iraq. Iraqi groups attacked the saudi East West Pipeline earlier this year. If they came from yemen, the drones, still, the saudis are imovane but not as much. Saudi arabia has a crownjewel, the kingdom, its wealth depends almost entirely on the abqaiq facility, very largely on the abqaiq facility. Iran backed groups have attacked the crown jewel of the saudi government, the kingdom. So we have two lead that risk is going to go up and there have been talk in washington that President Trump was thinking of maybe easing Oil Sanctions on iran to allow talks to resume in so far. I think what happened so today will put the ice on the little bit and 110w put the ice on the little bit and now we will be talking about whether there will be retaliation for acts to deter iran and the duties trying another attacked on abqaiq. Were out of time, so very briefly, does this demonstrate, show an overreliance on this particular plant in saudi arabia more importantly . Yes, it reveals to the world that oil market depends on a few critical choke points and facilities, none more important than the abqaiq stabilisation plan. The former british Prime Minister, David Cameron, has said the current Prime Minister, boris johnson, behaved appallingly during the Eu Referendum campaign. In an interview to mark the release of his memoirs, mr cameron also said the result of the referendum left him hugely depressed. 0ur Political Correspondent chris mason reports. Its 2015. The smiles of victory. Are you glad to have won at last . David cameron wins the election for the conservatives, in which he promised an Eu Referendum. A year later, the smiles have gone. He backed remain in the referendum and lost, and resigned. I love this country, and ifeel honoured to have served it. And now, for the first time since, hes talking about it. In his memoirs, the former Prime Minister says. Sir craig 0liver worked with David Cameron in downing street. Its absolutely the case that David Cameron feels a real burden, a real sense of having made mistakes in the referendum campaign, having got quite a few things wrong, and he says that he failed. What he doesnt think, though, is that he shouldnt have done it. And the reason for that is, i think he thought it was almost inevitable. Ukip were on the rise, doing extremely well. We were also in a situation where a huge number of conservative mps were rebelling all the time. The political pond, as you mayjust have noticed, is choppy enough as it is at the moment, and these memoirs represent another brick lobbed in for good measure. But as extraordinary as our politics are at the moment, its still quite something when a former resident here accuses the current one from the same party of having a rather casual attitude towards the truth. Leaving the truth at home is the accusation mr cameron makes of how some of this governments most seniorfigures behaved as part of the leave campaign. Did you leave the truth at home, sir . Well, mr gove did leave home today, but wasnt leaving us with any insight into what he makes of his old boss. Did you behave appallingly, sir . He and borisjohnson will no doubt get other opportunities to tell us, though. Well be seeing plenty of David Cameron this week, and there are more revelations to come. Chris mason there. Its been five years since england, scotland and wales legalised same sex marriage, but some lgbt couples say they still face obstacles when organising their big day. This weekend, one of the uks first wedding fairs for same sex couples has come to london where it hopes to provide a more inclusive experience. 0ur lgbt correspondent ben hunte has been along to find out more. There are wedding cakes. Suits and dresses. Flowers and drag queens. Singing this is pride lux, one of the uks first wedding shows specifically for lgbt couples ready to celebrate their big day. The organisers say over 1,000 of them will be right here this weekend. This year, britain celebrated five years of Marriage Equality, with the first same sex marriage taking place in march 2014. These ceremonies are now performed in england, scotland and wales, but not in northern ireland. Cheering wedding shows are big business. They happen across the country throughout the year and they give couples the opportunity to meet the people who can make their wedding goals a reality. But with lots of other wedding shows already existing, why do lgbt couples need a separate event like this . I think there is an incorrect assumption that gay weddings are a spin on straight weddings when actually they are their own entity. Gay people are celebrating their relationships in their own way. So here at pride lux, you can find trends, things that you might want while planning a gay wedding, which you wouldnt find at a normal wedding show. Some of the worlds leading luxury wedding brands are appearing at this event, but every single one has been vetted to make sure they offer services tailored to same sex couples something that many couples here say they have had problems with before. There are still some suppliers who are not on board with the idea. So coming to a focused wedding show like this means they can go around, be inspired, speak to the suppliers who want to work with them. You know, the amount of emails i have to send and mention that my couple is a same sex couple, still, in 2019, astounds me. But that is the reality. Ijust think that to bring together companies that specialise in lgbt offerings and for lgbt weddings is really important, right . There are lots of wedding fairs for heterosexual couples, and i think to have something exclusive for lgbt people is a really good thing. A huge amount of marketing collateral is focused on opposite sex couples, and thats just wrong. Lgbt couples want to feel welcome, and organisations in a whole range of industries, including the wedding industry, the travel industry, organisations focusing on parenting, they need to be more openly inclusive and demonstrate that they welcome same sex couples so that they feel safe and accepted. Got me looking so crazy in love. The uk is one of only 28 countries to have Marriage Equality for same sex couples. So lgbt people internationally will see an event like this as a huge step forward in securing their right to love. Ben hunte, bbc news. And before we go, its 18 carat solid gold, said to be worth more than 6 million and 0xfordshire police are on the hunt for it. Its a golden toilet. Sarah campbell has the details. Its called america and went on display in new yorks guggenheim museum. More than 100,000 people experienced this fully functioning artwork. Relocated to one of britains most famous stately homes, blenheim palace, visitors were to be allowed to spend three minutes alone with the toilet doing whatever came naturally. The exhibit itself was designed to be a reflection on the American Dream and the idea of something ordinarily unattainable in fact potentially being there in a way that you could touch. The toilet was designed to make that physical. Butjust two days after going on display, the toilet was stolen, causing significant flood damage to the palace. We believe they used at least two vehicles during the offence and they left the scene at around 4 50am. A 66 year old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and he is currently in police custody. Blenheim palace say they are relieved no one was hurt and are urging anyone with information to contact the police. Sarah campbell, bbc news. That is just about it from me. Over the next few days, the week ahead, largely dry across the British Isles. There will be some rain across the far north of the British Isles. Monday starts off ona the British Isles.
