It was a very high speed accident, as he sat on the second lap, the race was taking place this afternoon. The accident or incident involved three drivers, so Antoine Hubert was one of them, one man well was another, and juliano. Obviously medical staff and Emergency Services attended the scene, and one of the drivers was taken away in a helicopter that is used for medical emergencies. Unfortunately, hubert succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 18 35 local time. Lacey was checked out of the medical centre and passed as ok. I think its a big shock to the paddock. Hubert was a young promising driver in the academy, and we havent had a serious incident, really, since 2014. Since that big crash injapan. Soi 2014. Since that big crash injapan. So i think there is a feeling of shock that Something Like this can still happen with the amount of safety thats been put into these ca rs. Safety thats been put into these cars. Rather helpfully, the mercedes engine in Roberts Williams car came to their rescue. By ruining the polish drivers day, it made hamiltons. A ten minute delay to proceedings followed, enough to allow the World Champion to join the action. Hamilton has claimed pole more times than anyone else, but despite his experience, he couldnt catch the ferraris of sebastian fedele. The 21 year old from monaco top the time sheets in all three sessions on his way to his third pole of the season. Really good job. Come on baby, yes, yes with a gap of a quarter of a second to his rivals, leclair will be hoping he can go on to secure a first race win. Hamilton and mercedes will have their work cut out trying to catch him. Nick parrott, bbc news. Lets bring you right up to date with todays football. In the last 15 minutes, the final whistle at turfmoor saw liverpool eight matches, adam wilde is there for us, Manchester City looked pretty good, didnt they . I pretty good, didnt they . Very pretty good, didnt they . , very impressive indeed, plenty of calls this afternoon. Some real crackers as Manchester City has the pleasure of inviting brighton. Plenty of goals this afternoon, and some real crackers as well. Manchester city, who had the pleasure of welcoming graham potters brighton to the etihad this afternoon. Before today, city hadnt been beaten in 17 league games, a tremendous run that, of course, took them to the premier league title last season. Brighton, for their part, had lost all four Previous Premier League games to city. It ended 4 0 to city, a very comfortable afternoon for them. Any hopes brighton might have had of keeping it tight for the opening stages were gone within 71 seconds. Just over a minute is all it took for this man, kevin de bruyne, to opening the scoring for pep guardiolas side. It all looked far too easy for the champions. They doubled their lead before half time, who else but sergio aguero. The kind of goal weve seen from him so many times before. Really, from that point, it was all over. Aguero, though, hadnt finished. A quite brilliant strike once again, into the top corner from the edge of the box. A fantastic goal. Things looking very grim for brighton, and it would only get worse. City in sparkling form, Bernardo Silva adding a fourth. So, city have scored 14 goals in their first four matches this campaign. One sour note for them, city lost french defender Aymeric Laporte to injury. He was carried off on a stretcher before being taken to hospital. Lets hear, then, from the managers. We scored early, but the Brighton Team what they have done, a few teams that we face here in this, more than three years, creates problems with the bowl. And they were clear what they wanted to do, and we had some minutes to adjust, take our chances, and i think it was the quality of the players that Manchester City has. From this perspective, very proud, the effort of the players. The attitude to try to do what we ask them to do was top will stop playing against a fantastic team, unbelievable players, and they punish you for moments, but in terms of our overall performance, yeah, very happy with them. So that was a three oclock kick off, basically sending a message to liverpool, and liverpool responded as well. Not too surprising, is it . The top two at the end of the day were the top two at the end of the season last season. Manchester city and liverpool, liverpool are the top of the table tonight after a victory this evening. 3 0. Here is lydia campbell. They already have legendary status at liverpool, after guiding them to a sixth european cop. But now he has done something that none have done. This was a record 13th consecutive flight two top flight victory for liverpool, and part of that success is going to this man, the player of the year. But Virgil Van Dyck was almost made to look like a fool inside two minutes, chris wood, one of the few people to get past in this season, but he couldnt apply the finish. U nfortu nately, but he couldnt apply the finish. Unfortunately, he could at the other end though, his deflection helping Trent Alexander arnold open the scoring. There was no such luck about liverpools seconded though. Coolly sliding home, only sergio has a more premier league goals than him in 2019. And records kept coming for liverpool. Roberto becoming the first brazilian to score 50 premier league goals. The team is the only side with a perfect start to the season. But if they are to stay ahead of Manchester City, they will surely need the records to keep coming. Lydia campbell, bbc news. So we have heard about the top two sides then, what about the rest . As you can see, sides then, what about the rest . As ou can see its sides then, what about the rest . As you can see, its a real tale of two have sent stamford bridge. Lets first talk about tammy abraham, remember he was left out of southgate england squad earlier in the week, perhaps he felt he had a point to prove, a great start for him and for chelsea, but they were pegged back by sheffield united, 2 2 at finish. Abraham opened the scoring, team header, easily saved, but a fumble from the goalkeeper, abraham, lashed in his first goal of the afternoon. Before the break, he had another, latching onto a loose ball and finishing with great confidence to put chelsea in control. But, and it isa is a big bite. Within seconds of the restarts, this man, callum robinson, sign for united in the summer, he was a record fee, and this was his first goalfor his was a record fee, and this was his first goal for his new side. Chris wilder side really making a game of it in the second half, and after plenty of chances, plenty of efforts, he finally, finally paid off. The frenchman on his debut, what a way to market. The equaliser in the 89th minutes, i think it will go down. Certainly celebrating it, reallyjubilant go down. Certainly celebrating it, really jubilant scenes for Chris Wilders site at full time there. The result in the championship season, even the league, one place about chelsea. One interesting thing to note lampards start at 11 was the youngest chelsea have named in the youngest chelsea have named in the premier league era. Average age of 24 years old, 158 days. They really well though have to learn how to close out this kind of encounter. It was under control, so it is our fault, because we gifted them a goal in the first minute of the second half. And then, it makes the game more difficult, so we gave them the feeling that they were back in it, some similar stories to some of the games we played. And they fought to the end, and they got the goal at the end. So yeah, we gave away a game that should have been very, very comfortable, and made it difficult, and we lost two points for that. We have celebrated, i have talked about the journey, and we are a part of league 130 years ago, so you come to a fantastic historic football club, and especially second going toe to toe with them. In my opinion, in my biased opinion, i do believe we deserve something from the game. So, lets take a look at the rest of those scores then. Well come back to united in a moment. Weve heard about chelseas draw. Palace got a much needed win against aston villa. Jordan ayew with the only goal there. And of course, liverpool winning the late game as we heard about a short time ago. One match we havent discussed yet is the early kick off. Ole gunnar solsjkaers Manchester United held to a 1 1 draw with southampton, they were delaighted with that result. Heres michael redford. Just three games into the premier league season, southhampton and Manchester United are still looking for a bit of rhythm. Southhamptons new moves are coming from an old face. He was sent on loan to spain last season, he nearly gave the home side the perfect start. United on the other hand, have a new favourite in their ranks. Danieljames, showing off his twinkle toes. Thats three goals in four games. Southhampton did draw level through an unlikely source, its been over a year since yannick joined the club. That was his first goal. It would be another first for one of his team mates, although not one to remember. A late challenge, a second yellow card, and an early end for kevin. United pushed for a winner, coming close, not once not twice, but thrice. Southhampton hung on. A really unbelievable performance, what it means in terms of mental strength, and the willingness to take this point. Really believing in what they are doing, i saw a very, very good committed team today. We shouldve won today. We created chances, we had pressure on them. We have a game where we wanted, after dans fantastic first strike. Spaces everywhere. Then we just got a bit careless in our finishing in our last pass, even in our build up play. And we encouraged southhampton to get back into the game. Both sides are still looking for that perfect performance. Michael redford, bbc news. There you go thats the story for the paper Manchester United. Quick look at the table then, no surprises about the top two. Liverpool overtaking city with that win in the late kick off. Leicester palace and west ham all up there as well, much perhaps to the surprise of some, i would guess. Down at the bottom, the first points of the season for watford. This is his final home match as wales head coach, but the first verse was set to an irish tempo. Thats Jacob Stockdale, with a new aerodynamic haircut. Ireland are hoping he will be their bullet train injapan. Once hes off, its nonstop until he reaches his destination. They were 15 3, up at the break, then scored a penalty try in the second half. Wales were failing their final audition, a day before their world cup squad is named. What a moment then for owen lane, taking his cue on debut, and impressing his boss, probably. Gatland said this week he doesnt care about rankings, but the locals do. And wales world number one spot was on the line. Reese continued the comeback charge, but their momentum ended there, while ireland may have found some atjust the right time. Patrick geary, bbc news. The six time league champions, who have been through financial trouble and relegation in the last few years, leave the stadium after 85 years. Paul ogden reports. Inagural champions in 1996, the bulls were regulars in the grand finals of the early 2000. Ball mania was one thing, but the largest ever attendance, 102,569 for the 1954 challenge cup final replay. It was a then world record for the league crowd. These days, owned by rugby leagues governing body, the rfl, they have recently been sublet to bradford bulls as tenants. Now restructuring in pursuit of long term ambitions, the bulls have asked to play next year at duesberrys ground, hoping to return to the city of bradford in a boutique stadium, fit for super league. It will be strange playing on a sort of away ground really, as our temporary home, but we have got to adapt to that, we have to be as good as we possibly can, because ultimately, what you are judged by is the playing group, the performance group, and by results. The rfl have described as poor, the decision to move, even questioning the credibility of the clubs long term plans. Ominously, they will now consider all options for the site. This is my place of work, its where i get paid, so yeah, i hope that first and foremost the club does exist, and we get back to bradford. But yeah, for the near future, which we are going, and i will be a part of fats, and i suppose weve just got to buy into that. The special Financial Measures that the bulls are operating under, means that they are barred from recruiting any new players for the time being. Whatever they think of theirfuture home. Paul ogden reporting there. Its the final weekend at the world rowing championships in austria. There were two golds and two bronze medals for the british team today. No strangers to the top of the podium, Matthew Pinsent and Katherine Grainger are there for us. It is such an intense World Championships this year. We keep talking about qualification for tokyo, both olympics and paralympics. The biggest event to qualify is here. So to see a lot of the crews that were touch and go, getting the qualification slots, the womens quarter, its great to see them, and the mens. You still want to see them up in the medals, but for them both to qualify is huge. I think from the medals side you cannot look past our paralympic team. Two finals, two gold medals. Its the only time we heard the infants today. So like to celebrate the event there. He lightly women, a surprise, they were hoping to qualify, a new combination. They only knew six weeks of rowing together, they didntjust qualify, they got a bronze medal. So there is a lot to get excited about, some to get concerned about. The biggest thing looking forward to tomorrow is possibly the eights, because from that point of view, everyone else at the finals tomorrow has got six booked for tokyo, the mens eights and women eights, six booked in the final, only five will get tokyo places. And such a difficult race to match that, because youve got six players, only five, how do you do the tactics . Well, you go out and start finishing thinking i want to be a top three, because i want to medal, but i want to get away from the risk of being at the back end. Ordo you or do you piece it, and judge it. Someone else might not bejudging as well. Its going to be drama. Ok, all of the drama will be here. Bbc does not come at 12 30pm on sunday. Maybe after a couple of years, i go up into heavyweight and teach a little bit tyson fury. Great britains mens boxing squad are getting ready to compete at the world boxing championships in russia injust over a week from now. Making his debut at the ripe old age of 28 in the Super Heavyweight Division is frazer clarke. Hes had to wait for his chance behind the likes of anthonyjoshua, and hes had to overcome serious injury, too. Our olympic Sports Reporter david mcdaid has more. Clark is a man who knows and Janine Joshua better than any other boxer. As the pair spent years sparring together as part of the Great Britain squad. He is always on the other end of the phone, i would drop him a message regularly, just in general. If i need any advice, he is the go to person. When i spar people, what its doing for me, obviously its helping them, but ijust take the benefit out of it myself. Clark has had to wait for his chance to shine, asjoshua and joejoyce were chosen to compete i had of him at the last two olympic games. Ive had to learn to be patient, im 28 years old. Ifeel like im in the prime of my life. Im in no rush. I feel great. I think everything falls into place at the right time. But two years ago, clarks career was almost ended before it had really begun. After a training accident left his leg with serious damage. I slipped over in a warm up for training, and i detached my hamstring. Ive got quite a good pain threshold, but this is the worst pain ive ever felt my life, ever. He needed an operation in several months off his feet. And it hit him hard. I was having one too many pines, and there was 4 5 days where i lay bed, and i was depressed. I just didnt want to. I thought you know, it is over for me now. I was climbing the mountain before, and then i slept all the way back down. And then to go climb it again. But re scale the mountain he has come at commonwealth gold has already come, and next time he wants to make his mark in the World Championships debut. 100 ready to take a metal, all of these other countries coaches, i want to leave my name in their mouth, so they know that in 12 months time, you know, if you won an olympic medal, youve got a come for fraser clark. And given the determination and fight he has shown so far, not many would fancy trying that. David mcdade, bbc news. Thats all from sportsday. Just a reminder of our top story, that tragic news coming out of belgium and the motor racing circuit, formula 2 race today, and a horrific accident for the 22 year old french driver, Antoine Hubert. Who was killed in a high speed crash, racing for the argentine, british motor racing team. So it will be a very sombre place in the pits at the circuit tomorrow for tomorrows formula 1 race. 1 race. Well have more throughout the evening. For me and the rest of the team, bye bye. Hello. Earlier today, the temperatures reached the mid 20s across southeastern parts of england, but they have dropped significantly since then once this band of cloud came in and brought a burst of rain. That same band of cloud earlier on brought some quite heavy rain across the hills of scotland and Northern Ireland. You can see how the cloud has swept its way southeast, and then more broken shower clouds have followed on behind. Ushering in much cooler and fresher air for the start of the new month, the start of meteorological autumn. A northwesterly breeze, that wind has been quite strong earlier on today, especially here. But at least we did have some sunshine. And weve got clearer skies for many places overnight. Albeit, one or two shower continuing across Northern Ireland, the bulk into scotland and the odd one coming down into parts of Northern England and also wales. Clearer skies further south and the winds and temperatures dropping, cooler than it was last night. Down to 7 9 degrees in towns and cities. Sunny for many parts of england and wales in particular, and some showers in Northern Ireland and scotland and those pushing through scotland into northeastern england and down towards the wash and those showers could be heavy and thundery. Very few showers coming into wales and the midlands and maybe dry across southern england with temperatures up to around 20 degrees, but i think for many it will be a cool 15 17 celsius. And we will see more cloud coming into Northern Ireland and bringing showers and pushing them eastwards with heavy showers across eastern scotland and northeastern england fading away. Some breaks in the cloud overnight moving to monday and the start of a new week could start rather chilly with northeastern scotland, temperatures down to two or three degrees. Going to replace northwesterly breeze with a west or southwesterly wind coming in from the atlantic again around the top of this area of High Pressure as well as fronts focusing rain for northern areas, too. Sunshine to start the day and cloud amounts increasing and some rain in perhaps Northern Ireland and the bulk of it pushing across scotland and heavy rain over the hills of western scotland and quite windy. Temperatures of 15 degrees in glasgow in 22 for london and the home counties. And for the start of the week, we continue this blustery westerly wind, bringing outbreaks of rain mainly to Western Areas and then we turn towards more of a northwesterly and that will drop the temperatures from mid week and well see some sunshine and some showers.
