Over the past three years lavender fields in the uk have been getting a new type of visitor. People from around the world have been flocking to fields like this one in the hope of taking the perfect picture for instagram. The growers of these lavender fields used to make most of their profit from lavender products, but now many of them are making more money from ticket sales. Thats the news for now. Back to matthew. I love lavender, and so do the bees. We will start with the diet endorsed by beyonce. A diet endorsed by beyonce could be dangerous, the British Association for nutrition and lifestyle medicine has told this programme. Its the professional body for registered nutritionists and its looked into the 22 day plan which cost 14 dollars or 11 pounds 50 to subscribe to. It says it lacks nutritional guidelines and it sells a dream rather than educating people on how to eat well. The us pop icon recently posted about the diet on her youtube channel. She told viewers how the plan helped her to prepare for her 2018 coachella post baby comeback. Her videos been watched 1. 7million times. The original plant based diet was created by beyonces trainer marco borges. He said the singer continues to be mindful of the importance of proper nutrition and exercise as part of a healthy and happy lifestyle. good morning. Its 5am and this is day one of rehearsals for coachella. Every womans nightmare. This is my weight. 175. A long way to go. Lets get it. Were going to go 100 plant based from now through to coachella. Im back on the stage after giving birth to twins. I was a woman that felt like my body was not mine. We know the power of vegetables. We know the power of plants. We know the power of foods that are unprocessed and as close to nature as possible. That is a snippet from the video on youtube. Subscribing to the beyonce diet means that you get a list of recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snack options to choose from. You can filter them down depending on your skills in the kitchen and how long you have to cook. Recipes include nachos with cashew cheese, chia puddings and this tofu sandwich which includes half a block of extra firm tofu, 60 grams of hummus and half a celery stalk. 0ur reporter meghan 0wen tried out a days worth of recipes. So my first breakfast is an overnight chia seed pudding with three tablespoons of chia seeds. 0ne tablespoon of maple syrup. A quarter of a litre of cashew milk, 75 grams of blueberries and 80 grams of frozen mango. This is going in the fridge overnight and it will be ready in the morning. Its day one. This is my first recipe, the chia seed pudding. Its a slightly different colour to the website, but it has 11. 5 grams of protein. So we will give it a whirl. So this is todays lunch. Its a deconstructed pesto sandwich with some hummus, some sunflower seeds, some spinach, cucumber, basil and a side of carrots. My snack for today is 30 grams of mixed unsalted nuts. My main meal of the day is nachos with cashew nut cheese which im going to make later, and these are the quantities of ingredients needed for the dish. So heres the final product. Nachos with cashew cheese. And im going to give it a go. Well, thats what it looks like to ta ke well, thats what it looks like to take part in this diet, just for one day, she only did it for one day. Lets speak now to daniel 0shaughnessy a nutritionist from bant the British Association for nutrition and lifestyle medicine. Mandy rose moore is here. She created a petition discussed in the Scottish Parliament to stop influencers and celebrities endorsing diets on social media. Then nicole whittle, an influencer who runs a vegan beauty and food social media account. And carmen a green, a beyonce fan from philadelphia, who has tried different meal plans on 22 Day Nutrition over the past four years. Thank you very much to everybody. Carmen, lets start with you, what are they like to follow, these 22 day plans . Initially, it felt like it wasnt a challenge, and being a meat eater transitioning to the plant based it was an adjustment but over the last four years its something ive adopted as a lifestyle and, but i have found and experience the benefits of the various plans being offered. And now they offer the online planner and there are three additional books with a lot of resources i can utilise. Do you lose energy, do you find . There utilise. Do you lose energy, do you find . There is utilise. Do you lose energy, do you find . There is one part in the video from beyonce where she says, im so hungry, and the calories consumed seems to be quite low. |j hungry, and the calories consumed seems to be quite low. I think that beyonces situation was an anomaly, something most of us would never experience as she was preparing for the performance of a lifetime. I long for meat, initially, but then as my body began to detox and hungry is not a sentiment or symptom i would describe. I ate what i wanted, andi would describe. I ate what i wanted, and i did experience weight loss and lower load pressure and my vitals we re lower load pressure and my vitals were fine and i did this in conjunction with a doctor and i have a vegan trainer as well. Nicole, you also campaign to push the vegan lifestyle and all that, and you support the celebrities and other influences trying to push the diets we see in front of us. I want to try the tofu sandwich so somebody bring a hoover because i problem wont be able to do it without spilling. I cant do this with you all watching. Is there anything wrong with what beyonce is doing . I think she is introducing a plant based diet to a really wide audience and lifestyles are always heavily influenced by celebrities and i think its incredible she is showing people how to eat plant based because i have been vegan for nearly 12 years and it really shocks me how many people tell me that they cannot imagine what i would eat for dinner and things like that. They cannot get their head around how someone can just eat vegetables or fruit and grains asa just eat vegetables or fruit and grains as a meal and i think its really great that beyonce is teaching people how to create a meal around plants. This is really dry. Its around plants. This is really dry. Its been sitting out for too long. I have a mouthful of sandwich. Does anybody want a carrot . Daniel, 0k, you have done the scientific look at this. Sorry, trying to give you a carrot. Is it a dangerous plan that is being put out there specifically by beyonce . The thing is she has millions of followers, some obsolete people will do whatever she says. The problem with the actual programme is there is no nutritional guidelines, nothing telling the person how to do it. Why is that a problem . For the person who is completely clueless about nutrition and want to eat, the problem with this diet is that it is wrong. What is wrong . The nutritional macros dont add up. The fat content, the protein content, i put them in my owfi protein content, i put them in my own calculator and so this sandwich is meant to have 36 grams of protein, when its only got 24. So its misleading and therefore potentially maybe lower calorie than it says it is. Im still trying to get rid of that sandwich. Mandy, its actually quite tasty. Get rid of that sandwich. Mandy, its actually quite tasty. |j get rid of that sandwich. Mandy, its actually quite tasty. I will ta ke its actually quite tasty. I will take it off your hands. Its a sore right. It tastes all right. Where does the problem lie as far as you are concerned . I campaign a lot for celebrities are influencers to be more mindful about what they promote, particularly around quick diets and fad diets and i think the experts are right. She is selling a dream, so the promotional video does not quite add up to the website, someone not quite add up to the website, someone the website, like daniel was saying, a list of recipes but no real guidance, so some of the language used in the video tape we saw there is really damaging, and stepping on the scales as a womans worst nightmare, and when she has so many millions of impressionable young women looking at her every move, i think thats really damaging. I was really struck by the fa ct, damaging. I was really struck by the fact, carmen, you said we are not like beyonce, she is an anomaly as you called her. You are a fan of her. We are not preparing for a world tour, so i had personally had twins. Exactly. I suppose world tour, so i had personally had twins. Exactly. Isuppose whatl wonder is, whether or not the fact that she is out there and saying to people that this might be a really good way of you eating and living your lives when she is in a very, very specific situation, is that not a bit dangerous . I dont think its dangerous at all and people are getting hung up on a sound bite. And thatis getting hung up on a sound bite. And that is dangerous. I think what she is doing is doing what she thinks is socially responsible. She is providing people and giving people access to a plant based lifestyle that they would not necessarily otherwise have access to the information and she is promoting the idea of it being socially acceptable to be vegan or leave a plant based lifestyle and in certain communities, especially communities of colour, thats not necessarily a cool thing, its a social faux pas not to eat meats in a lot of situations, so i dont think its dangerous at all and i dont think we should get hung up on rhetoric and we should definitely take things in context and not manipulate her words. That is interesting because beyonce does appeal to a group of people, a particular section of the population that would not think about this and the un is saying today that plant based diets will help save the planet and help us be more healthy. Im all for education about plant based more healthy. Im all for education about plant based diets improving your life but this is hardly an accessible way to live your life. She has an access to a personal trainerand there is she has an access to a personal trainer and there is a team behind her unlike trainer and there is a team behind herunlike carmen trainer and there is a team behind her unlike carmen was saying, shes preparing for Something Like the performance of a lifetime and thats not something any of us have to get shape for. As i said before, there is no guidance on how to follow this diet. A plant based diet can be healthy, but its not done well, or its done without any education, you could be lacking in a protein intake, iron, vitamin b12, or really important for us, so going into this blind i would say it could be dangerous. Nicole, the charge is that the influencers dont understand as much as the experts and therefore might give the wrong advice. That is very fair but a lot of diets, notjust the vegan diet, is dangerous if you are not balanced nutritionally. But for the everyday person who doesnt have access to a nutritionist its a great way of introducing a lot more fruit and vegeta bles introducing a lot more fruit and vegetables into your diet, and i know a lot of people who struggle to eat five a day and my boyfriend, since he has been dating me, he was like, how did i not eat fruit and vegetables, and now every day, so easy. Which is great, but is the wider point here that there are two worlds, the expo world and the social media world the expert world. You are getting some people who take their advice from a well intentioned pop star rather than the nutritionist. There is such a disconnect between the influencers and the experts. Theres not enough communication between the two. They are selling one thing, and they know another and there is a disconnect. She did partner with marco. Its not just beyonce saying that she ate this and it was fine and she is sharing a diet which made her feel incredible and brought her to a physical and mental peak. It was incredible and she could not have given that performance being deprived and she had to be there. There is nothing wrong with a post baby body. Thats the other thing thatis baby body. Thats the other thing that is being deeply promoted. This is in the first time she has come under scrutiny, remember the maple syrup diet . That was completely unhealthy, drinking maple syrup for days on end. I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar one when i was 16, and i thought ill do that, and look like beyonce. She should be encouraging education rather than the word diet and fitting into addressable weight loss. Encouraging healthy eating, good quality protein, whether its plant based or not and fruit and vegetables. Nicole, in the world of influencers, is there any movement to engage properly with experts and that the advice given out is accurate. I agree there should be more regulation and i think it is every individuals responsibility to look at who they are following on instagram and see who is giving them diet advice and you should be taking meal plans for people who are not qualified, but taking inspiration from people, i know instagram has been huge in sharing the vegan diet because people who didnt know how to create plant based food can look at something and say they can make that and that has encouraged healthier eating but as far as the whole meal plan, that requires a lot more expertise. Nicole, daniel, mandy, and carmen who got up early for us in the states, goodbye, thank you very much indeed and take a carrot with you if you like. Marco borges who came up with the diet told us beyonce used a combination of a whole food plant based diet and daily exercise as part of her discipline and hard work in order to reach her personal goals in preparation for her coachella performance. We applaud her and are humbled by her courage to share herjourney with others. We also tried numerous times to contact beyonce and her team but no one responded to our requests for a comment. Some of you have been getting in touch on social media with your comments. Maisie on twitter says she would not recommend a plant based diet isa would not recommend a plant based diet is a way of losing weight, but planned properly and by eating a wide variety of foods, of egan plant based diet is very healthy, she says, a vegan plant based diet. We are being encouraged to reduce meat and dairy intake by Climate Change scientist, and it is important to plan this properly. Jill got in contact via e mail and say she follows a plant based diet and did this carefully for six weeks and did this carefully for six weeks and then realise she had become anaemic and nearly passed out at work. So there are bubbly potential problems with it and i guess the advice would to beat you understand be to understand what the experts are saying. Still to come. The number of females caught carrying knives in england is rising. We hear from a woman who has carried weapons and another who has been a victim of knife crime. A youtuber, brooke houts, faces a backlash after a video has emerged of her seeming to act cruelly to her pet doberman the metropolitan police says that an officer who was repeatedly stabbed overnight in east london is seriously injured, but will make a recovery. A mans been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened around midnight in leyton. Lets speak now to andy moore who is in east london for us. Andy, what actually happened . What are the details . The police are telling us that they should have been a routine police stop, a marked patrol car, two officers on board, following what they believe to be a white van that was uninsured, so they try to pull it over and the van did not stop. Then followed a short pursuit in the patrol car had its sirens and lights going, and then the van eventually stopped here just outside the station. The officers got out, the driver got out, and there followed a brief confrontation. The police say it lasted about two minutes. The man got out a machete and launched what was described as a frenzied attack. The police had a press conference this morning. Lets pick up on that story from richard tucker. The circumstances are that the officers. Circumstances are that the officers who were in a marked Police Vehicle stopped a van for no insurance and, having engaged the driver, who was quite aggressive, because we are very fortunate weve got Body Worn Camera of the whole incident, having tried to deal with that offence he tries to make off, get back in the van. And a violent struggle ensues where he produces a weapon and stabs our officer in the head and around the body and also during the struggle the officer has managed to get his taser and deploy it. Asi as i said, this incident happened just after midnight and we might be able to bring you some video of what the scene was like. You can see the large white van, and the Police Officer himself, he has injuries to his head, stitches in his head, and wounds to his hand, undergoing an operation around now but despite the injuries he is expected to make a recovery. Andy, thank you for that. New figures obtained by bbc news show that the number of women caught carrying a knife by police in england has risen by 73 over five years. Youth workers say some women are carrying blades for protection, others are being exploited by gangs to courier weapons as women are less likely to be searched by police. Data from almost all of the Police Forces in england shows that one in four recorded offences involved girls under the age of 18, with the youngest aged seven. The met police in london saw the highest number of cases involving women, but rates have been increasing at a faster rate in parts of northern england. The home office says its investing £220 million into steering both young men and young women away from violent crime. We can now speak to lydia lawrence, who was first a victim of knife crime atjust 12 years old, when she was cut on her face. She was again stabbed at the age of 21, and needed surgery in her kidney. She now campaigns against knife crime, focusing on opportunities to help young people escape a life of violence. And Nequela Whittaker who was once a gang leader in south london. By the time she was 14, she had been arrested for Violent Crimes. Now shes a youth worker on those same streets where she saw mass brawls, stabbings, shooting and friends murdered. She wants her story to be heard by young people who might be tempted by gang life, especially girls. Thanks for coming in, your story, and your ages now, we have these figures, but this has been going on for some time. What are your thoughts when you hear the number of women carrying is rising so quickly . Its women carrying is rising so quickly . Its not surprising. Its more an eye opener that the figures are kind of standing in line with the facts of standing in line with the facts of what is happening in the streets. 15 years ago, young people carrying knives, i was a knife carry a 15 yea rs knives, i was a knife carry a 15 years ago, i can understand how the environment has changed many young people who come from deprived backgrounds who are involved in gangs and crime activity, how it can bea gangs and crime activity, how it can be a sense of security for many young people and as we know its not just boys involved in this lifestyle, there a re just boys involved in this lifestyle, there are girls involved, so they are also arming themselves when they are committing crimes and being ina when they are committing crimes and being in a situation where they can being in a situation where they can be sexually assaulted so people are using this as a first tool, first weapon to defend themselves in any situation. Its appalling it was ignored for so long in parts of the community were not listened to for so long when it was the daily reality of what you lived through. It has to be good news that this is now being spoken about more publicly. 10096. You know, he needs to be put out there that its not just an issue with black boys or boysin just an issue with black boys or boys in general, it is a poverty issue and its what these young people are dealing with and facing right now and as she said its important people know that this is happening. I hope that is not insensitive, but is that your scar customer know, it isnt actually. That is from when you are a tacked age 12. You presumably still live with the mental scars of that. |j age 12. You presumably still live with the mental scars of that. I had to go through the process of it, so idid go to go through the process of it, so i did go through post Traumatic Stress and it did take a year or two to get through that and then i had to get through that and then i had to deal with counselling to be able to deal with counselling to be able to get over that and i also had to try my best to change my environment, so i was no longer exposed to it. There would also be the stress of actually living on the streets where this is something that happens. Yes, it is a stress. I bet it is. Why did you carry a knife . When i was younger, it was easily accessible, tools and gadgets were something that my male counterparts we re something that my male counterparts were women who are gang affiliated. It wasnt something we use, but it was something we had easy access to like having a mobile phone is easily accessible. But that makes it almost sounds like a fashion accessory rather than something felt to be necessary. You hear a lot of people are scared. It was an accessory in my day when i was growing up. Im 31 now, so theres a whole different demographic. 15 Years Ago Society is not the way it was for young people like myself, so back then it was for the sole reason of being able to have a fancy flick knife gadget, but we wouldnt use it. Its just having the access. The young people we were hanging around with at the time were able to access these things. We could go into shops as young people and by these bladed articles. What has changed since the days when you we re has changed since the days when you were carrying on the days when you we re were carrying on the days when you were attacked . Has anything changed or has it evolved into something more dangerous . I think its evolved into something more dangerous. The fa ct into something more dangerous. The fact that young people dont see any hope or vision of what is the future. And, you know, its more broken homes, theres a lot that goes into it. But it is a lot worse. I believe it is a lot worse in terms of young people feeling they have no safe s pa ce of young people feeling they have no safe space or to speak to adults. They are worried about their safety andi they are worried about their safety and i am concerned they are using weapons and Violent Crimes against each other as the first way to resolve an issue. I think that young people are displaced within the environment and there is not enough space and support for young people to be heard and we are seeing it through their actions and their actions are being displayed through Violent Crimes as opposed to having a safe space, having youth workers, having trusted adults they can speak to about issues that are occurring. It does not seem like young people feel trusted. We have heard a lot about that since those stabbings in 2017 and 2018 at new year. The conversations you are having with young people on a daily basis, what are they saying . What sticks in your minds in the conversations you have had recently . I have got a stepson and a little brother and they say to me we dont want to go out, we want to stay inside because that is the safe st to stay inside because that is the safest option. They are shut ins. They call themselves shut ins . Yes, shut ins. And why would they go out . They know the reality that it is not safe out there, there is nowhere thatis safe out there, there is nowhere that is safe for them out there. That paints a picture of some parts of the community of you are either a shut in or you carry a knife . Yes. Really . Where i do a lot of work is iam coming really . Where i do a lot of work is i am coming across young people where the attitude is either kill or be killed. A lot of young people have that attitude. If i am in an area and in a different borough, they need a weapon because it is an unknown territory for them. When they are in an unknown territory there will be other young people who will question those people, take their phone or rob them. A young person feels if they are protected with a knife and they show that knife at that moment, the opposition will back off. But in hindsight it instigates a bigger situation. Could the police be an option . The new home secretary is talking about having more officers on the police. If it is only 500 for london, that will not make a difference. What do you think . 500 32 boroughs. If the numbers were right could it make a difference . I think having a presence could help. But in the times we are living in right now i dont think people respect the police presence. Issues and stabbings are still happening. Somebody can be stabbed and left and bleeding on the street for hours before the Police Respond now and thatis before the Police Respond now and that is the reality of what these young people are experiencing. Lydia and nequela, thank you both. I know you talk about this a lot and it is depressing to talk about it, but i hope the message gets through. Thank you. Still to come. We speak to england womens captain steph horton as she warns period poverty is stopping girls getting involved in sport. Youtuber brooke houts is facing a backlash after a video has emerged of her seeming to act cruelly towards her pet dog. Brooke apparently uploaded the abusive clip by mistake whilst trying to post a prank online. Lapds animal cruelty unit is said to be aware of the video and is investigating. Tmzs post of the story on facebook has been shared almost 7,000 times and there has been almost 40,000 tweets mentioning brooke houts on twitter. Ive got James Waterhouse with me now. Is it isita is it a difficult video to watch . Yes, i think that is fair to say. She appears with her pet doberman sphinx, who appears in most of her videos. She talks about living with a dog. In it the dog approaches her in an excitable way and he jumps a dog. In it the dog approaches her in an excitable way and hejumps up and she forcibly slaps him down. The second time he approaches her she is kneeling in front of the camera and she pins him down with both hands and spits on him. On the third occasion she forcibly pushes him away and it is pretty forceful and thatis away and it is pretty forceful and that is what sparked this backlash. How big a star is she . 340,000 subscribers, she is based in la, she is popular and will have a following. But if you post something thatis following. But if you post something that is controversial or upsetting, whether you have got 340,000 or three, the chances are you will hear about it in some kind of response. There have been people calling for her youtube account to be suspended. Youtube have not responded. She has been accused of using her dog to get hits and now this video has been posted. There was a debate over whether it was an accident. Posted. There was a debate over whether it was an accidentlj posted. There was a debate over whether it was an accident. I was going to ask that. Yeah, it is an edited film. It was thought she posted it by accident, or it may be the case she misjudged it and posted it and has seen the response. But it is an edited film and she does forcibly discipline her dog in this way. We have shown the video to the rspca which has condemned it. They say these methods can cause pain and distress. She has denied abusing it. We want to tell you a story now about young people turning their backs on modern society in way thats not happened before. Its happening in india and theyre deciding to become jain monks. There are an estimated seven millionjains worldwide. They practice vegetarianism and non violence. The monks are much stricter they renounce their homes, their families, they vow to do everything in their power to protect all life. Its a trend thats thought to be fuelled by youtube channels, promoting this huge life decision to children and teenagers, as Priyanka Pathak reports. Would you give up your home, your family and friends, your phone and your shoes for a shot of salvation . Here in india, more people under the age of 30 are deciding to do just that by becoming jain monks. They believe even microscopic life is sacred and that harming any living thing is bad karma that will trap your soul on earth. The vow to protect all life is made at a ceremony called deeksha, where you must renounce the modern world and your parents for a new life wandering between communities as a monk. Im dhruvi, im 20 years old and im taking deeksha next week. At her deeksha, dhruvi will swap this elaborate dress for the white robes of a monk. To minimise her impact on the planet, shell never wear shoes or use electricity again. And, as a symbol of leaving her past life behind, she will have her hair plucked out. Ive come to mumbai to meet dhruvi before she takes deeksha. She didnt always want to be a monk. Dhruvi decided to change her life completely after she tried out living like a monk at a religious retreat. This is one of the last times dhruvi will eat with her family. After the deeksha she wont be able to call her parents mum and dad and, because the genders are strictly divided, shell never hug her dad or look him in eye again. By becoming a monk, dhruvi will earn enormous respect from the jain community. They are making huge preparations for her deeksha. And even though everyone is telling me how excited they are, i couldnt help but sense a certain trepidation from the parents and grandparents. Its like they are wondering does she truly understand the impact of the decision that she is about to take . And this is the life awaiting dhruvi. These three girls took deeksha last week. They brush the ground before they sit and cover their mouths with cloths in an effort to protect tiny insects. Like many who take deeksha, all three comes from wealthy backgrounds. Before she became a monk, vishuddhipoorna was a physiotherapist. Can you walk me through your mind when deeksha was happening . Do you miss your phone, though . What do you miss most about that life . Fewer than ten people a year used to become monks, but last year nearly 200 took deeksha. This year that number is likely to double with 400 deekshas expected. And its a surprisingly modern invention thats helping drive this increase. Youtube. Muni jinvatasalva was training to be an accountant when he decided to leave it all behind and become a monk. He documented the process on youtube. Because hes renounced electricity, he cant personally post any videos, but his followers make content for him and the channel has over a million views. And his Online Presence seems to be having an impact in the real world. Hes one of the organisers of this parade. It marks the end of a 48 day religious retreat where 600 young people, a record number, have been trying out living like monks. The crowd here is middle class and wealthy and its the youngest that are particularly revered. These boys are both 12 years old. So, for the past 48 days, the two of you have been living without electricity, not having a bath, not wearing shoes. So this hurts a lot . And now you feel that you want to take deeksha . For hets parents, the younger he becomes a monk the better, before his soul gathers up a lifetime of sins. Hes got boils on his feet, their feet are cracked and burning and he was in a lot of pain. How did you react to all of this . Its the morning of dhruvis deeksha. Thousands have turned out to watch and the whole thing is being live streamed on youtube. She throws off herjewellery as a symbol of renouncing the world. Then she hugs her dad for the last time. As her parents watch, she leaves the stage to have her hair removed and to don the white robes of a monk. After an hour she returns. Shes no longer dhruvi. Her new name is falshuddi. Could the England Football Team have done as well as they did at this years world cup if their players hadnt been able to go to after School Sports clubs . Today the captain of that team Steph Houghton is drawing attention to how lots of schoolgirls miss out on after school clubs including sport because of period poverty. Stephjoins me from our salford newsroom. Have you come down from the events in france . Yes, it has obviously been three orfour in france . Yes, it has obviously been three or four weeks from the fa ct we been three or four weeks from the fact we got back into england. The world cup was amazing, disappointing not to go all the way, but for the experience and how well we did we are happy. But we have to go one more next time. Now you turn yourself to this issue of period poverty, why . For me personally i feel very strongly about it because i think feel very strongly about it because ithinki feel very strongly about it because i think i would not have played football if it was not for these after school activities. To hear that girls are not participating in these activities after school because of period poverty makes me sad. Ican because of period poverty makes me sad. I can be a role model in this campaign and show that girls are able to participate and do something they love, whether it is football or other sport. What is the problem . Girls do not feel confident enough to turn up if they do not have access to the right products . M they do not have access to the products, they are saying 31 of girls do not participate in after school activities. It is a big pa rt after school activities. It is a big part of shaping their confidence and building theirfuture part of shaping their confidence and building their future for after school. We can raise awareness and provide the products and allow girls every opportunity to do what they wa nt to every opportunity to do what they want to do, whether that is in school time or after school. Is there a wider issue about the access girls and young women have access to for all sorts of things to fulfil the dreams they might have . One thing we can do is provide these products and it means the girls have got every opportunity and they can do whatever they want to do, whether thatis do whatever they want to do, whether that is within sport or anything else. For me to allow girls to build confidence we have to give them every opportunity to do so and by providing products it allows the girls to do so. When was the first time you went to an after school club . It was in primary school, i was about six or seven. Was that the moment . Did you then think im playing football . At that time i loved any sport, football, cricket, hockey. I just wanted loved any sport, football, cricket, hockey. Ijust wanted to run around, ididnt want hockey. Ijust wanted to run around, i didnt want to go back home. I wa nted i didnt want to go back home. I wanted to be at school with my mates are playing any sport i could. When i was ten or 11 i thought football was the sport for me and i knew i was the sport for me and i knew i was ok at it. I got confidence from the fact people thought i was good as well. For me it was a defining moment in how i am today, throughout the school years wanting to play football as well. Confidence does look into what you are saying about period poverty and giving young girls the support. That is what the broader topic is, giving young girls the support and confidence to go and pursue those dreams. How much of an impact did you and the others out there on the pitch have on the aspirations of young girls and young women . It is massive for us. Not only being a professional footballer, but being a role model is something we take seriously. If i had the opportunity to see a young girl captaining their country when i was nine or ten, i would have seen that straightaway. For us it is about the confidence and the fact that doing physical activity is ok. There are lots of different parts to allowing girls to be confident, but hopefully this one part of it allows them to make the decision and enable them to make the decision and enable them to make the decision and enable them to do what they want to do. Dana sent a text and he says, i doubt if any female who is claiming period poverty does not have a phone. Sanitary products are very inexpensive. The way we have this campaign it is about making sure that girls who have an opportunity if they cannot afford the period products that they are there for them in schools and youth clubs. If they go to their after schools as well. It is allowing girls to be able to have that reach and get them when they can so that they are able to be more comfortable within themselves and do what they want to do. Let me ask you about the first female referee to take charge of the u efa female referee to take charge of the uefa super cup final next week. The first woman to be in charge of a major mens european match. That is a pretty big milestone, isnt it . Major mens european match. That is a pretty big milestone, isnt mm is massive. For me it is unbelievable that these women referees are being able to referee these matches and there is no bigger one than a european super cup. It is a great step in the right direction. There are great male and female referees getting to referee these games and for us it is great for female football and everybody associated with it. I went to wembley over the last few years and i have seen you plenty of times playing in the fa cup final and the first year i took my girls there there were 20,000 or so and the crowd this year was 39000 and it is slowly growing. This year, i was watching you play the United States game andi watching you play the United States game and i realised about three quarters of the way through i had simply been watching a game of football, i had not been sitting there thinking i am watching a game of womens football. Something has really changed, hasnt it . Of womens football. Something has really changed, hasnt it . The perception of womens football has massively changed. People are not just watching womens football, it is just football. For me as a fan i love watching football, whether it is premier league, the championship, league 1, womens football, i see it as just football. For us to be able to change perceptions and the performance we put in, hopefully that can continue and that we can grow the crowds. The fact it is on television allows it to be reached more by young girls, young boys, adults, male and female. We are going in the right direction and we have to sustain this interest over a long period of time. Phil neville obviously is a great manager and obviously is a great manager and obviously all of you girls love him. I wonder whether at some point does the england womens Football Team need to be managed by a woman . For me phil has done an unbelievable job over the last two years and it is about having the right person for thejob, about having the right person for the job, whether that is about having the right person for thejob, whether that is male about having the right person for the job, whether that is male or female. It is not necessarily whether it is a male or female, we have changed football for the best and the better. For me if that time comes, it is about the right person for thejob and comes, it is about the right person for the job and to comes, it is about the right person for thejob and to be comes, it is about the right person for the job and to be able to make england win in the future. Great to talk to you. Many congratulations. I know it did not turn out as you would have wished, but we all loved watching you play and you are an inspiration to my daughters. Thank you. Earlier this week, former England Rugby union player ben foden revealed in a heartfelt instapost that he had married his girlfriend, entrepreneurjackie belanoff smith, afterjust two weeks of dating. People will say we are mad or crazy or even fools, but when someone like her comes in to your life, why would i wait . But can a relationship in which the couple have only known each other for a short amount of time ever actually work . With me now isjo hemmings, the relationship expert and behavioural psychologist, and simon hill, who moved in with partner suzan a week after dating. They got married after six months. Simon, why dont we start with you. You moved in after a week. Simon, why dont we start with you. You moved in after a weeklj certainly did. Basically she employed me when she was opening a new pub in chesterfield. I basically pursued her from day new pub in chesterfield. I basically pursued herfrom day one. Then i moved in after a week and six months later got married and we are now into our 21st year. You would recommend it then . For me absolutely. I dont think it would work for everybody. I mean, we are just soulmates at the end of the day. There is a slight age difference, there is 16 years between us, but looking at us together you would never think that. Do you have other friends who got married and live together in a short space of time . No. What do they say . We are quite unique. What did your friend say at the time . The thing is, sue has got two children. Mark is, sue has got two children. Mark is her eldest and when we first met he was more in shock because there we re he was more in shock because there were only five years between us. I was 28. It was a bit of a shock for him. But now we have got a daughter rebecca who has literallyjust had her own daughter with her wife catherine, so we have got a beautiful grandson and we couldnt beautiful grandson and we couldnt be happier. Joe, it can work. Absolutely. It is undeniably romantic, that story, and a Great Success romantic, that story, and a Great Success story. Of course it can work. But despite this lovely story, the chances are it probably will not work. Why . Relationships are three stages. The first is at last, then you move onto attraction, a deeper affection, and then finally attachment which is what keeps you together over a long period of time. I suspect ben foden is in the last phase which makes you giddy and restless. It is very exciting and stomach flipping, which is great and we all love that feeling. But to get married from the last phase when you do not know someone very well. Simon, did you have any idea that you were in the last phase after week one 0rd had you moved through to attraction and attachment . pretty much moved through to the attraction. She had no idea i fancied her. For me it was attraction after that day. She was perfect in every way and i still have those butterflies when i see her. There is an instinct part of this. If bens instinct is this is the woman for me, then could he already have moved beyond the last phase . He cannot have moved to the attachment phase. It is different in simons case because you had already like this girl for so long that he knew what he wanted and he kind of knew what he wanted and he kind of knew her in a sense. With ben they both met each other at the same time and will be in simultaneous phases together. The attachment bit is why people wait until they get married. Not because they are saving for a wedding. But because they want to know for sure and have to have a certain period of time to know for sure. However, if he wants to take that chance and be reckless, he does not care what anyone else thinks. He feels in this moment. He has gone ahead and done it. We have had versions of that happening and most of those marriages dont have brilliant survival rates. Do you come across people in your work who did get together very quickly, have realised there are problems, and then are able to fix those problems . Yes. Problems are easier to fix if you are not married. Once you are married, you have made a significant commitment and to do that too quickly is perhaps a bit hasty. But, yes, of course that is what relationship counselling is about. People who thought they had found the one, but problems had set in at a certain point. Simon, listening to that, do you think one of the keys to your lifelong relationship and marriage success is that you did know her beforehand . This was something considered, even though it sounds on paper quite well when . employed me at the end of the day andi employed me at the end of the day and i met her in a job centre. We then went through a very brief training within the pub. She was the manager, i was at the kitchen manager. She had no idea i was pursuing her. The thing for us is it is compromise. At the time and at the beginning of our relationship she was the manager and i was her employee at the end of the day. Once we got together that was still the case, she was still the boss downstairs in the pub. Upstairs we we re downstairs in the pub. Upstairs we were equals. That is probably great advice for everybody. Joe would probably agree. Thank you both very much for your time. Bbc newsroom live is coming up next. Thank you for your company today. Have a good day.
