Very warm. All months during 2019 we re very very warm. All months during 2019 were very warm very warm. All months during 2019 were very warm in very warm. All months during 2019 were very warm in terms of comparing with other years, and that trend is not likely to stop unless we do something about curbing Greenhouse Gas emissions. The results are based on billions of measurements from satellites, ships, aircraft, and weather stations all across the world. These latest figures are part ofa world. These latest figures are part of a long term trend and rising Global Temperatures with computer models of the impact of Climate Change predict that more summer temperature records are likely to be broken all across the world or often. And a separate assessment by the world whether attribution group shows the fingerprint of Climate Change on the current heat wave in western europe. Temperatures are up to three degrees hotter than they otherwise would have been because of Greenhouse Gases created by human activities. This record shows that the average temperature around the world injuly was the average temperature around the world in july was about 1. 2 degrees above its preindustrial rate. That is getting very close to the 1. 5 degrees threshold the country signed up degrees threshold the country signed up to in the Paris Agreement and we will put pressure on government that they really now have to act urgently and set a plan to cut their emissions down to zero by the middle of this century. Individual heat waves cant be pinned to human created global warming, but the increase of the extremes of weather we are beginning to scene is in line with the productions made by Climate Change experts. And they say that they are likely to get worse and more frequent. Just how much warmer is it in your town or city, to find out where you live could be fitted by Climate Change and what might be done about it, there is much more information on the bbc news website. 13 minutes to 6pm just to explain. This week a group of affected School Children are coming to the derbyshire town of glossop for three weeks of health and wellness activies to help them enjoy the outdoors and learn new skills. Fiona lamdin went to meet them. Right, everyone its pizza snack time everyone around the fire circle wash your hands first this is more thanjust an adventure in the woods. These children are here for a recuperative rest. All are in remission, recovering from cancer, likely to be as a result of chernobyl, the worlds Worst Nuclear Accident when, in 1986, a reactor at the Nuclear Power station in the ukraine exploded, sending a radioactive plume across europe. It happened 33 years ago but these children still live in radioactive environments in belarus. When there was the accident at chernobyl, the wind was blowing northwards so a lot of contamination fell onto belarus. Although much of it blew across europe, but belarus was the country that got most of the radiation so there are areas of contamination still all over belarus so even though some of the children may live hundreds of miles from the actual chernobyl reactor, theyre still breathing contaminated air and eating contaminated food every day. Were going to now demonstrate how to toast a marshmallow. And thats why, over the last two decades, a charity based in derbyshire has brought over 5,000 children to the uk to give them some respite. Doctors believe that these children spending time here in the fresh air, eating fresh food without contamination, can boost their immune systems for up to two years. So what difference do you notice in the children after theyve been to the uk . Translation after staying in the uk, our children have less colds and infections. Kristinas12, milanas 9. Its their first time here in the uk. Do you both feel a lot better being here in england . Kristina says that she is enjoying staying here in the uk because she feels more energy, she feels cheerful, more energetic, more healthy. At the end of the summer holiday, these children will have to go back home, but its hoped that this clean air holiday will give these damaged young bodies a boost. Fiona lamdin, bbc news. Eight minutes now to six p m. Police in the us state of washington are used to stopping motorists but they got quite a shock when they saw a plane racing down the road. When the light aircraft finally came to a halt, the officers had to knock on the window and have a word with the pilot. As Richard Lister explains. Is it pilot. As Richard Lister explains. Isita pilot. As Richard Lister explains. Is it a bird . Pilot. As Richard Lister explains. Is ita bird . No, it is a plane caught on the police cam buzzing low over the morning commute. Caught on the police cam buzzing low over the morning commutelj thought low over the morning commute. thought that this thing was a remote controlled train. Plane. As it got what they got bigger and bigger. To the point of that is re close to the ground, i think is trying to land. Trooper thompson turned around me to be and braced for what could be a disaster. He was getting close to the ground, the wings hit the ground, it wobbled a bit, he brought it to a stop in the centre turn lane. It was not a conventional turn lane. It was not a conventional turn landing but it worked. He managed to stop at the red light. It may be the most bizarre traffic stop of his career. The pilot had been flying to work but reported a fuel problem with his kr to aircraft. Amazingly the incident barely interrupted the full traffic. He didnt even get a ticket. Tomorrow he will be driving. Richard lister, bbc news. Just to remind you we are waiting for that News Conference to begin in derbyshire and an update from the police and Environment Agency about the continuing operation that we have focused on so much in the last few hours and raf chinook continuing its work to drop 400 tonnes of aggregates trying to shore up that dam there that has split away, the break in the dam that you can see there, quite clearly from our pictures and again a good shot there that shows just how much the helicopters are having to drop to try to shore that up of course to try to save peoples homes and businesses. About 1500 people moved out of the town of Whaley Bridge yesterday. Tonight will be their second night out of their homes. The police have said it is dangerous, they must be moved out of the area as a precaution and we know that local people are in a briefing at the moment to explain more presumably about this operation but also more importantly for than the impact it is having on them and their wives. They cannot get to their wives. They cannot get to their homes or their businesses. And i guess they dont yet know how long they could be out. Perhaps they have been given more details about that in the last little while. We have been talking to a Structural Engineer here on the programme this after. He did make the point that the weather is good for example, the water levels have dropped and that is all in the favour of the Emergency Services who are doing this work, the situation and climate at the moment is as good as it can be for what they had to do but it is a big operation and the expert i spoke to said it could be really quite a few days to get this structure safe and sound. And this is essentially a repair operation to make it as safe so people can go back to their homes and go back to their wives thereafter much further in the future will be the bigger question of mending the dam for good. Their wives mac. That patchwork there as you can see the camera pulling away you can see the break in the dam. And that is the work that is continuing. Perhaps we will get a few more details about the success thus far of the operation about how much longer they think it is going to take. We will be there at that News Conference in buxton in the next little while as we have been saying for some time, it is due to begin at 6pm. We are watching their all the monitors and we will bring you the News Conference as soon as it begins. Was pause for mode because we do have time to look at the weather prospects where if you are in the country. As far as the dam is concerned what we need isa is a few good days of subtle dry weather. And unfortunately we are not going to get that today. We saw a river levels dropping, a number of flood warnings dropping. We still have this ongoing situation at Whaley Bridge with that severe flood warning. It is been a much drier day across as part of the country today. We had a few showers further east. Yes the cloud its been a bit more threatening into lincolnshire and nottinghamshire. Generally light showers and some the best of the weather again has been across Northern Ireland today. My fa ncy across Northern Ireland today. My fancy over the next few days we will catch a few showers here and week it will be turning much wetter. This has been the last few hours, the extent of the cloud and showers across eastern areas. A few showers across eastern areas. A few showers across south wales. These showers that have formed are going to tend to fade away over the next few hours and overnight it will become dry everywhere i suspect. There may well be more patches of mist and will cloud particularly in eastern areas who should become dry and temperature is typically 12 to 14 degrees. In many paces tomorrow it will be a dry day with spells of sunshine. We have the sunshine coming in from the south west. It will turn the sunshine hazy and it could introduce a few showers into some of these western coasts of Northern Ireland later on today across north wales and the northwest of england. Ahead of that these temperatures were looking at similar to those of today. 22 to 25 degrees really sums it up. For the cricket tomorrow it has been a lovely day, some intriguing test match. As the showers come on late as we had on for tea into the evening section. It will be turning wetter more widely during the second half of the weekend. This low pressure area is coming into play pushing in these weather fronts as well. We have the showery bursts of rain coming in over showery bursts of rain coming in over the eye receipt away from Northern Ireland in the morning and entering the den wales into scotland. With her today and into the evening these showers could turn heavy and thunder in scotland and also in northern england. Further south and east across the south east and east anglia, probably quite warm as well. This is where we will see the peak of the temperatures of the next few days. It will turn cooler, a bit fresher i think even across southern areas on monday as the breeze picks up. This is the future we will be stuck with for a good pa rt we will be stuck with for a good part of next week. That area of low pressure will bring some wet weather. Could lead to more localised flooding because the showers with that could be heavy and also thundering. Keep up today on our website. Emergency crews race to shore up a damaged reservoir in derbyshire, the race to stop a reservoir from bursting and engulfing the town. The Emergency Services say there is a real risk that could collapse. More than 1000 people have been moved out of Whaley Bridge. Experts say the situation is critical. This is the scene tonight in buxton nearby where we are expecting a News Conference imminently. We are likely to hear from the police and the Emergency Services in the next few minutes
