Good morning. Welcome to breakfast with Naga Munchetty and charlie stayt. Our headlines today the government warns ships to stay away from the persian gulf after iran seizes a british oil tanker. The foreign secretary sends a stern warning to tehran. We are absolutely clear that if this situation is not resolved quickly, there will be serious consequences. Tranquility base here. The eagle has landed. Events will take place around the world today to mark the 50th anniversary of when man first set foot on the moon. The mayor of new york declares a local emergency, as two thirds of the United States prepares for a dangerous heatwave. Good morning. Our weather is set to get hotter next week. In fact, very hot for some of us, but were not there yet. Still a bit of rain to come this weekend. Ive got yourfull forecast coming up. In sport, rory mcilroy falls agonisingly short at the open as he misses the cut by one shot in front of home support at royal portrush in Northern Ireland. Its saturday the 20th ofjuly. Our top story uk ships have been warned by the government to stay away from the persian gulf, after Iranian Armed forces seized a british tanker yesterday. Late last night, the foreign secretary, jeremy hunt, said therell be serious consequences if the vessel and its 23 crew arent quickly released, but added that military options are not being considered. It comes after weeks of escalating tensions in the region as simon jones reports. Seized in a major escalation of tensions, the stena impero, a british flagged tanker and its 23 crew members from india, russia, latvia and the philippines now in the hands of iran after it was surrounded by four boats and a helicopter. This is completely unacceptable. Freedom of navigation must be maintained. We will respond in a way that is considered but robust. And we are absolutely clear that if this situation is not resolved quickly, there will be serious consequences. The tanker was tracked leaving the united arab emirates, heading north, staying well inside the International Waters of the gulf. But just after three oclock yesterday afternoon, the 30,000 tonne vessel makes an abrupt change of course, its last known movement inside iranian waters. An announcement on iranian tv claimed the tanker had failed to respect International Maritime rules. Its british operator says thats not true. London is now urging uk ships to stay out of the area for the time being. There is no alternative route in and out of the gulf, so if this is to endure then clearly its going to impact on our trade routes, trading patterns and ultimately the price of those goods. The us president is rallying to britains support. We have a lot of ships there that are warships and well talk to the uk and we have no written agreement, but we have an agreement. Theyve been a very great ally of ours. A second british owned tanker, the mesdar, was boarded by armed guards but has now been allowed to continue on its journey. Irans actions are believed to be in response to this, the Royal Marines helping to seize an iranian supertanker off the coast of gibraltar earlier this month. Britain believed it was Smuggling Oil to syria in violation of eu sanctions. Tehran accused london of piracy. A meeting of the governments emergency committee, cobra, went on late into the night. The big question now who will make the next move . Simonjones is outside the Foreign Office in Central London for us this morning. Weve been talking about this a lot this morning and thinking about where we are diplomatically and it really does feel that tensions, you know, we use the phrase have escalated but they really have. Absolutely. And we understand that during the weekend, there are going to be more meetings of the Emergency Cobra Committee and the foreign secretary, jeremy hunt, its going to make further attempts to make contact with his iranian counterpart to discuss the situation. He tried that yesterday but was unable to have any sort of conversation, so that effort will be made once again and this morning on twitter, jeremy hunt has again expressed his concern about the situation. He says iran seems to be following a dangerous path and hes very concerned about the situation overall. Iran are telling a very different story, though. It says that the british tanker actually hit an iranian fishing vessel and then it claims that the tanker failed to respond to an emergency call and thats why the tanker was impounded. We understand it has been taken to a military port in iran which also raises tensions too, given that it is specifically a military port. The crew are still on board, the 23 members. There will be an investigation, but it is unlikely that this will be solved quickly, so by the new Prime Minister coming in next week, they may find they have a supertanker size problem straightaway. Just to be clear, the meetings, do we know of any particular meetings at any particular meetings at any particular times over the next 48 hours . No, wejust heard overnight from the Foreign Office that they are likely to hold some more emergency meetings. We do not have any timescale on that at the moment, but certainly they have a lot to consider on how to respond to this situation, whether the crew members might potentially be in danger, how they can galvanise the International Community into some sort of coalition of condemnation about what has happened. We know thatjeremy hunt has already spoken to his us counterpart and he will be looking to speak to other european countries, im sure, as well. Thank you, simon. The cost of the new £56 billion high speed rail project hs2 could increase by another 30 billion. The Financial Times says that allan cook, who took over as chair of the High Speed Railway last december, has warned that the scheme cant be delivered within budget. The phrase poor doors is used to describe different entrances for social housing tenants, with the intention of separating them from private residents who live in new build housing developments. The communities secretary, james brokenshire, said he was appalled by some examples of segregation he has seen. Ministers have promised to put an end to the practice in england, by introducing new planning measures to create more inclusive housing. This sense of separation, the sense of segregation, that, for me, is completely unacceptable and why i think it is right that we take action to ensure that cannot continue, that cannot happen and therefore everyone has the same form of access regardless of the type of home that they live in. Authorities in new york city are urging people to stay cool and safe as record breaking temperatures grip the area. Temperatures are set to hit 100 degrees fahrenheit, thats 38 celsius, over the wekend. New york mayor bill de blasio declared a local emergency due to the extreme heat in the city. Local Authority Services such as bin collections would be brought back under the control of councils, as part of new plans being announced by labour this morning. The party says it wants councils in england to stop the practice of outsourcing services to private firms within five years, if it wins the next election. 50 years ago today, Neil Armstrong and buzz aldrin became the first people to set foot on the moon. It was a moment that brought the world together. Heres our science correspondent pallab ghosh. This is Apollo Saturn launch control. Were still aiming towards our planned liftoff at the start of the lunar window, 9 32am eastern daylight. The saturn 5 rocket shimmers on launch pad a at the Kennedy Space center. As the dawns early light fades, three astronauts get ready for a mission that will propel them, and the rest of humanity, into a new era. In their space suits, commander Neil Armstrong leads edwin buzz aldrin and mike collins into the spacecraft. Three, two, one. We have liftoff. Neil armstrong reporting the roll and Pitch Programme which puts apollo 11 on a proper heading. 0k, our flight controllers going to go for a landing. Retro. Go. Vital. Go. Guidance. Go. Neil armstrong takes Manual Control and with fuel running low, brings the spacecraft down. The eagle has landed. Roger, tranquillity. We copy on the ground. Youve got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. Were breathing again. Thanks a lot. He then makes his descent onto the lunar surface. Im going to step onto land now. And uttered the words that would reverberate through history forevermore. Its one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. It was a time when all things seemed possible, the very stars seemed within our grasp, only for plans for the human exploration of other worlds to fade. But Neil Armstrong himself said that the dream was still there and it would come back in time. Remarkable moment in time. It is ten past nine. Lets return to our main story. The seizing by iran of a british cargo ship comes after weeks of growing tension between iran, britain and the United States. So, how can this be resolved . Lets speak to the former uk ambassadorto iran, sir Richard Dalton who joins us from north yorkshire. Thank you very much for your time. I wonderfirst if thank you very much for your time. I wonder first if you could give us your expert eye of the comments of the foreign secretary, jeremy hunt. We had last night after that emergency meeting of the Cobra Committee that he said the response would be considered but robust, but if not resolved quickly, serious consequences. How if not resolved quickly, serious consequences. How do you read that in practical terms . What does that mean . Its not clear what he meant by serious consequences. Iran is already sanctioned to the max. We wa nt to already sanctioned to the max. We want to maintain diplomatic contact rather than break it off because we do have Serious Business to do with iran, so the strategy which the government has developed clearly should be considered, it clearly should be considered, it clearly should be considered, it clearly should be robust because what iran did was unacceptable, but the key point is that it unfortunately is now inexorably linked with the seizure on the 4th ofjuly by the gibraltar authorities, with the help of the uk government, of the Iranian Crude Oil tanker, cargo oil in a panamanian tanker in gibraltar, the catlike grace one. There has to be now a high level political organisation, a lot of mr hunts time, to resolve these twin crisis is. What we understand again, from the Foreign Office, they say that attem pts the Foreign Office, they say that atte m pts to the Foreign Office, they say that attempts to contact mr huntss iranian counterpart thus far have been unsuccessful. Help us with understanding how that diplomatic process could work and maybe should work. Well, it sometimes takes time to develop a coherent position both in tehran and in london and he has been available for mr hunt in the past. I would not take too seriously that one or two attempts last night, there could have been travel issues because he is away from base, there could have been other questions. There is no indication yet that it was an attempt by iran to keep us at arms lens. I think they want their tanker and their crude oil out of gibraltar. It is what a great deal of money. They want to establish our position, firmly, that the United Kingdom is not seeking to enforce us sanctions preventing iran from selling its oil, but is serious about being willing to release the tanker in gibraltar provided that it does not go to syria. So there is a deal to be had. Does not go to syria. So there is a dealto be had. Now, the foreign secretary was asked about the possibility of military action. He said at this stage, that is not something they are looking at, but donald trump, when asked about the situation, immediately made reference to the fact that the us has warships in the region and he said that he would be talking to the uk who he described, of course, is a very close ally. What do you make of that and what might come of any conversations with the us president . Well, i hope the us will take their lead from the uk. This is a uk problem and the total lack of trust between iran and the United States would only be an obstacle if the United States tried to muscle in on this business. The idea at present of seeking to seize back a british tanker held by the iranians would simply lead to further problems down the line. The British Government is absolutely right to say that they are not considering military options. If the tanker in gibraltar, by way of some kind of negotiation, the iranian tanker, were to be released, would that not be seen as iran effectively having won . They threatened that they would do something in retaliation to get their tanker released and if it were released, then that is a win, isnt it . Well, the british position is that that tanker can be released under certain conditions, so it would not necessarily be seen just asa win would not necessarily be seen just as a win for iran, but you also have to consider the background to this. Iran is underan to consider the background to this. Iran is under an economic war imposed by the United States and its people are suffering seriously. Iran is retaliating against the International Community, using the means available to it, having signalled well in advance that the United States unilateral and totally unjustified withdrawal from the Nuclear Agreement would lead to serious issues that the International Community has to take seriously. The european effort so far to provide iran with economic benefit to which it is entitled under that Nuclear Agreement have been wilfully insufficient. We have multiple, interleaved crises and out serious diplomatic approach will resolve these questions provided we dont get hung up on ideas of who has gained something or who has lost face or who has achieved a win. Its possible for everybody to win in these circumstances. Sir richard, thank you very much for your time this morning. Good talking to you, the former British Ambassador to iran. It is 60 minutes past nine. Good morning. Nick is going to make your money even better if you like the sunshine. Good morning. I may make it worse if you do not like the heat next week, the sun coming out, temperatures going up. Right now, though, we are still in downpour stage with plenty of showers around to start the day and continuing for some of us as the day goes on. Some sunshine around the showers but if you catch one today, it could be heavy and could well be thundery as well because of low pressure is really in control of our weather at the moment. This weather front draped from it has the heavy downpours moving east. Behind it, though, some of us are already looking dry. Northern ireland for example, dry weather developing to the west as we go through the day. This is the past few hours of the rainfall radar picture, as you can getan rainfall radar picture, as you can get an idea of where the recent heavy showers have been and they are, as we now look at the forecast, going to be moving further east is the day goes on. Behind that, Northern Ireland, now looking mainly dry, western scotland drying up, more of wales and western parts of england getting out of the showers as we go deeper into the afternoon. The southernmost parts of england looked mainly dry. East of scotland, north east england, the midlands and east still these heavy downpours as the afternoon goes on. Between 18 and 22 degrees for most of us, still breezy. For the golf, sunshine today occasionally at royal portrush, but ta ke occasionally at royal portrush, but take care tomorrow, what out again as rain moves into Northern Ireland and other parts of the uk. This is how to day ends, though. The heavy showers in the slowly fading and then overnight, largely dry and clearer and easierfor sleeping then overnight, largely dry and clearer and easier for sleeping with lower temperatures at around ten to 14 degrees. Centring to start the day tomorrow. Some cloud building and here is that change in Northern Ireland, the rain moving in here leading to a very wet afternoon. That rain slowly pushing across more of scotla nd that rain slowly pushing across more of scotland as the day goes on and towards north west england and northern wales later. Elsewhere in england and wales, cloud building but it will stay mainly driver much of the day with those of the mid 20s. The wind picks up as well, looking very wet, north west england in two parts of south west scotland. And then on monday, a rather cloudy, misty, murky start, slowly brightening up for many of us and temperatures already starting to go up. Its a process that continues as we tap into some heat. Heatwave developing another across continental europe, above 40 in the hot spots, but on our shores, mid 20s for scotland and Northern Ireland, 30 or above for england and wales and a few days of fine weather but it looks like all it is for many as we start to see things change again from the west later in the week as we see some rain moving in but we could see the highest temperatures of the summer so far, a good few days of around 30 celsius or above with high humidity, difficult for sleeping with very warm nights around as well. Some sunshine, yes, but in terms of the heat, there is perhaps a price to pgy its interesting, we have pgy its interesting, we have been talking about the warnings in new york city as they are expected to hit 38 degrees and then you see as at 34. They say it is a dangerous heatwave about the heat is not necessarily very pleasant to be in especially in the city. Yes, absolutely, and just as it is across the north east of the usa, it is the heat and the humidity combined that makes it so difficult. As ever, when we get temperatures that should up in the summer, it is really ha rd to that should up in the summer, it is really hard to do that without the humidity and that you very much i going to be combined again next week so for some of us, a few days of very sticky weather on the way. Make sure everyone is carrying water. Thank you, nick. I have my little cup of coffee. Entertainment journalist caroline frost is here to tell us whats caught her eye. Have you had a coffee . Have you had a coffee . |j have you had a coffee . I was going to have a lovely cup of tea. I am a tea person. Which we will be getting to later. We will come expensive tea, but we are starting with space. I was showing this morning. It was like a prize, the wraparound of the Times Newspaper this morning. No one of our generation was around for that amazing day. Well, of yours and mine, caroline. Charlie saw it. Some of us witness to the events from a distance shall i hold up that picture as well . There are some wonderfulfront pages as that picture as well . There are some wonderful front pages as well. Let me bring it over here. Just take us through. It is a wonderful occasion for the papers because these images remain, even though they are 50 yea rs remain, even though they are 50 years old, so extraordinary. Yes, andi years old, so extraordinary. Yes, and i think one of the papers, perhaps the telegraph, they have had an undiscovered picture. I cant believe it but they have a picture of Neil Armstrongs face as they are descending down the steps and these things, i have read there are a whole bunch of articles that people still believe, some people, that it did not happen. I dont think they realise what a gargantuan effort, probably more than the Lunar Missions to conspire to come up with that. Interesting you say that. Half of breakfast came from jodrell bank, the observatory yesterday, and what they did was they tracked all the radio waves and there was a race against lunar 15, the russians, and apollo 11 to get to the men and they tracked all the radio waves and the russians went over to jodrell tracked all the radio waves and the russians went over tojodrell bank because they are a thing crashed to get those radio messages sought the proof is there, unless you dont believe in radio waves. Some people believe the whole thing isa some people believe the whole thing is a conspiracy. Where are you taking us now . The world of scientific ethics, which seems quite dry, but this is quite fun because scientists have managed to create an intelligence machine, and Artificial Intelligence machine, and Artificial Intelligence machine, and it is so good that they do not even dare release it into the online community. So good at what . Playing poker. It has finally learned how to bluff. This was the one thing that Artificial Intelligence machines could not do. They could play chess, or games where everything is on show to every player, but what they could not do was replicate somebodys instincts for reading a blind. Not do was replicate somebodys instincts for reading a blindm not do was replicate somebodys instincts for reading a blind. It is called bloody bass, this one. But at the moment, scientists have decided that if they were to place that machine onto one line machines, no professional players would take it on, so the entire world of online poker, huge tragedy, would collapse. It makes me think of skynet. Do you know what i mean by that . Terminator. The film terminator, skynet was the big robotic into Artificial Intelligence, no emotions but it could discriminate. We were saying earlier that the Science Fiction always comes true. It raises the question, this has all been developed by Research Scientist from facebook and mit, so lots of big brains working on this and ethics comes into it because at what point do you allow machines to take places that have humans as well . They say this raises bigger questions for military intervention, all sorts of things. When, where and how do you place Artificial Intelligence . In a way, deciding those questions in the relatively benign world of poker is quite a good test case for it, i think. I could be wrong and immediately someone will correct me ifiam immediately someone will correct me if i am wrong, but i do not think a robot can ride a bike. Cana robot can ride a bike. Can a robot ride by . They can walk, robots can walk, so you may not be wrong, but. I think you may not be wrong, but. Ithinki you may not be wrong, but. I think i robots cannot ride a bike. What do you think . Yes, it is, seamless. Funny me saying that because your next story is about b i cycles. Because your next story is about bicycles. It is. See, humans poor charlie is really getting it in the neck this morning. This is because we have very impressive roster of Tour De France champions, 0lympic champions in the world of cycling. In fact, the last seven years, six of the Tour De France winners have been british, but this somehow is not translating. I mean, im old enough and grey enough to remember when torvill and dean just spiked a skating in this country and it has happened similarly for other sports andi happened similarly for other sports and i think it happened in the 19905 with cycling in the early 2000 following tho5e 0lympic champion5 but it is not happening anymore. Cycling, the industry as a whole, although we have a few rare icon5, we are not getting the 5urge5 of bikes. Bike5 shops are closing, they are moving into things like e bikes, where you dont have to work very ha rd where you dont have to work very hard and where you dont have to work very hard and i am into that. And cargo bikes, so careers. So there are some subsectors, but on a whole, all sort5 subsectors, but on a whole, all sorts of things to blame. Infrastructure, bikes coming from abroad is being affected by uncertainty from brexit, safety concerns, children not convinced pa re nts concerns, children not convinced pa rent5 not concerns, children not convinced parents not convinced that children should be on the roads until they have their driving licence, but it i5 have their driving licence, but it is sad, because we are so ecologically focused on how we can all get fitter, how we can improve the world around us, i think Something Like 87 of dutch people cycle at least once a month, which you would expect in the middle of amsterdam, but it is not happening in the uk. It is infrastructure, though, isnt it . We get at these amazing heroes like geren thomas, but he is a rare breed. These sales figures are new bikes, so lots of people by buying are second hand, 5o. People by buying are second hand, so. It is becoming increasingly high end. Bike5 are becoming so complicated that to invest in a bike that needs servicing, you are looking at £100 plus. A robot cannot ride a bike. 0rgeta cup ride a bike. Or get a cup of tea. £166 for a cup of tea . Or get a cup of tea. £166 for a cup of tea . It is a £500 for the pot but iam of tea . It is a £500 for the pot but i am guaranteed that the pot to the three cups or not as steep as it sees. Round the corner from buckingham palace, verified tea, promising infusions of a very rare and exotic flavour. If you put that tea. If you made that he and you got a tea bag and did a builders cup of tea. No, youre not. Do you get anything with that . Biscuit . No, no cake. That would be extra. But you could be paying Something Like. What was the most expensive champagne bottle in there . 1. 6 million. Thats cognac. Some relatively, cheap option. You had your tea are ready so you do not have to worry about that. We certainly did not spend that much on yourcup of we certainly did not spend that much on your cup of tea thank you, caroline. Talking of tea, it leads us caroline. Talking of tea, it leads us nicely into saturday, kitchen. Good morning, matt. Whats coming up on your programme . 0ur on your programme . Our special guest today is edith bowman. How are you . Thank you for the tea. Its so cheap, matt bbc budget we can talk about he later and everything you are up to, but what is your food heaven . Sea bream. I love fish, i grew up in a fishing village in scotland. I say i love fish, but. Sardines . Yes, ithink it is my mums fault. She loves sardines andi it is my mums fault. She loves sardines and i help them. Bryn, what are you making . A tart with basil pesto and shortcrust pastry, just a different way of using tomatoes. When i heard you were doing this, i thought he is giving up, he is not making an effort. But stay with it, because you have. Its quite tricky. It looks quite simple, but its about six different recipes to get one thing on a plate. What are you up one thing on a plate. What are you . One thing on a plate. What are you up to . Marinated lamb with a beautiful red sauce. Delicious. And hugh is here to be in charge of the beer. What we have we got . L hugh is here to be in charge of the beer. What we have we got . A really strong belgian and a nice dark german. There is a joke there somewhere. And you guys at home are in charge of whether edith gets to eat heaven or hell at the end of the show, so go to the website for voting details. We will see you at ten. I am so interested to see how your morning pans out when you tell a chef that he has not made an effort. Im going to tune injust to he has not made an effort. Im going to tune in just to see the tension have a good one. Stay with us, headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with Naga Munchetty and charlie stayt. Heres a summary of this mornings main news. Uk ships have been warned by the government to stay away from the gulf, after iran seized a british tanker yesterday. The foreign secretary, jeremy hunt, says therell be serious consequences if the vessel and its 23 crew arent released quickly. But in a statement late last night he said that military options are not being considered. The cost of the new £56 billion high speed rail project hs2 could increase by another 30 billion. The mayor of new york, bill de blasio, has declared a local emergency, due to the extreme heat in the city. Those are the main stories this morning. Right now. It was a dramatic second day at the open championship. I follow golf from a distance but it is always fascinating when a superstar in golf has a bad moment and to see what happens next. Bounce back ability. The second round from rory mcilroy was not enough. He missed by just a rory mcilroy was not enough. He missed byjust a shot. It was so dramatic to see. But there is a lot of home interest. You have Tommy Fleetwood towards the top of the leaderboard. You have only westwood and justin rose so it will be an exciting day so you can find out what is in store. In picturesque portrush, golf as dramatic and spectacular as the surroundings, with all of the ups and downs, the open championship always delivers. For irishman shane lowry, this may well be an unforgettable weekend, joint leader at the halfway stage. But over his shoulder, the english pair of Tommy Fleetwood and lee westwood. Could his wait for a major title be nearly over . Well, as everyone at portrush will tell you, patience sometimes pays off. Its taken 68 years for this great championship to return to Northern Ireland, and whilst the focus now is on that race to the claretjug tomorrow afternoon, there remains lots of discussion around portrush about those star players who have not made it this far. Home hero rory mcilroy came agonisingly close to an open comeback to rival that of portrush itself just a shot off making the cut. Its been a somewhat emotional day, you know . I you know, the support that i got from the crowds out there were absolutely phenomenal and, you know, as much as i was trying to do it for me, i was trying to do it for them as well. Fellow northern irishman Darren Clarke looked close to tears as he blew his chance at the 18th. Still, someone at this 0pen will get their fairy tale finish although it may not be the one anyone predicted. Adam wild, bbc news, at royal portrush. England are looking to reach their first netball World Cup Final when they take on new zealand later today in liverpool. 0ur reporter kate grey is there for us, and play is already underway but its that england semi final thats likely to raise the roof kate. That is right. Scotland are currently beating barbados but we will talk later on because today the focus is on england in the semifinal against new zealand. If they make it through to the final, it will be their first ever netball World Cup Final. It will be a brilliant day. This arena has created an amazing atmosphere so far. Little bit continues. England have won six from six matches. I am pleased to say i am joined by six matches. I am pleased to say i amjoined bya six matches. I am pleased to say i am joined by a guest. You have been in camp in the lead up to the world cup. Please tell us how important this semifinal as. The gallows will be nervous but it is so important. Exciting nerves, they have adrenaline and are ready to go out there. They believe in themselves. They are playing consistent confident, slick netball and we dont see that often. And it is so fantastic to see. The comrade ray, the excitement, girls are playing like they are having fun which is what we need to see. What has the energy beam light in the camp in the lead up . Because a world cup, england being the favourites, there is no pressure like it. They are just excited by the fact that it is at home and we can have our own fans at home and we can have our own fans at the arena boosting us to take us to the next level. We have never done that before. Anyone have never beenin done that before. Anyone have never been ina done that before. Anyone have never been in a final before at a world cup event so it would be huge for them to get through this day and it will be a bit nerve racking and scary but i know they have the tools in the back to beat new zealand. New zealand will be tough and they are very different style to us. We are pummelling more suited to australias style. Man unmanned defence. The space will look different. We have not come up against a lot. But we have had some good games against them recently and had beaten them but they look like a different site. New zealand have turned up they are playing a style of net bullet we have not seen them play for a very long time. They are doing it properly. You have set the scene beautifully. We havejust seen scotla nd scene beautifully. We havejust seen scotland come off for half time, winning against barbados. They need this one, dont they . It has not been good for them. May well be disappointed, they came as the highest ranking we have ever had at seven. They are going 11th and 12th right now and they need this win. They are a great side, we have been able to grow but they have just not able to grow but they have just not able to grow but they have just not able to do it in thisjournalling. In this tournament. Able to do it in thisjournalling. In this tournament. This is when they need to learn and progress. They will take a lot from the whole tournament. The whole tournament. They have also had a home world cup ina sense. They have also had a home world cup in a sense. It is about what they have learned from the losses. Are they having those tough conversations and being honest. Able to go out and bring fire from all that has happened at the competition, to go out and do it again better in the next four years. Thank you so much sasha. I know you will be nervous it is definitely heating up. The england match will be on from 3pm. You can see it live on bbc two up against new zealand. Can england go all the way and make it to their first final . We will keep you up to date but that is it for now. There is a great feel around the whole thing . It is a festival of sport down there at the moment and it is good to see because it is such a Popular School sport so it is nice to see it on the stage where attention will be driven towards it. Hopefully able to name opportunities for players to get involved. Hopefully able to name opportunities for players to get involvedm hopefully able to name opportunities for players to get involved. It is a lwa ys for players to get involved. It is always worth learning a new skill and someone who does that is michael busheu and someone who does that is Michael Bushell who has been doing that hasnt he . I dont want to. I a lwa ys hasnt he . I dont want to. I always think that netball is for tall people. Very topical. The tallest person in the league is six foot 11 so when mike gets to go, there is a potentialfor some comedy. But he will see that he likes a challenge. For decades, theyve been terrifying all that came before them. Making the sport their own. 11 world cups to their name. And this weekend, the Australian Diamonds will be even more determined to retain their crown, because of what happened to them at home last year. Shall happen again to take the world netball. When england dared to beat them to win commonwealth gold. They have broken history i think every time we go out as a team it is to be our best. And we werent our best when we were on the gold coast for that game. But, yeah, probably the toughest it has been. I think a lot of the girls were hurting and no one really wants to feel like that again. But i think it has been probably really good for the sport, and especially over here in england, it being the world cup here. The diamonds have tasted defeat to england before twice more in the last nine months. But in training, they seemed as sharp as ever and fear no one. Ready to lead a merry dance whoever they now meet this weekend. Quick feet are so important, the sport is all about movement off the ball and teamwork. But dont think its non contact when playing at such speed. As long as two players are going for the ball, anything is allowed. So i broke my arm in january here, playing. Purely from going to catch a ball and a defender came through a little bit late and tipped my arm, so. Yeah, there are a lot of things that go on off about these days. And then despite all the frenetic action, and movement, it is all about calm composure when the chance comes. Well, they tell me ive actually got three seconds to compose myself, before shooting. Doesnt make any difference, though, really, does it, for me . Its obvious i needed coaching from the sharpest shooter of them all. Six foot five caitlin. So number one is definitely feet. Yeah. We want to make sure they are in nice shoulder width position. Number two is our arms. So, we want to have the ball as high above our head as possible. Because if we are vertically challenged like yourself, we dont want the defender having their hand anywhere near the ball. And lastly, we want to make sure were bending your knees. This is where the power for the shot comes from. Good, good, good at last now do exactly what you just that every single time and youll be fine did you get that on camera . Excellent three, two, one, go captain caitlin is obviously a coach as well in the making. As a local school found out, as they were taken for a series of netball based games. Its all about making friends. Just hearing their accent first of all. And thenjust, it is really good to just play with them. They are strong passers, definitely. Very nice. So yeah, its obviously nice to see young kids absolutely loving netball. And giving back to the sport, notjust in australia but over here in england. I know that, obviously with the england roses on the rise. 0k team, so it is england versus australia. Are we gonna win . Yeah i think weve got them outnumbered, but how are we going to breakdown this diamond defence . Over here but on this semifinal weekend, friends turned to rivals again. And in the future, it is obvious there is going to be strength and depth for england. Always up for it. Challenging, but thatis always up for it. Challenging, but that is the point. The Invictus Games is the brainchild of prince harry, it allows wounded, injured or sick ex servicemen and women to showcase their athletic skills. This weekend nearly 500 athletes will compete in trials for a place in the Invictus Games in 2020. Running alongside that will be a series of Live Performance and arts events which the actor phil spencer is performing in he joins us now along with the athlete, georgie smith. Very good morning. Georgie, telus about you because you are still serving in the raf. Tell us about what is happening to you. In 2015 i was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. And from there, it led me ona sclerosis. And from there, it led me on a bit ofa sclerosis. And from there, it led me on a bit of a journey. Uncertainty really. I didnt know if i was going to be able to keep my career in the military. Take us stepbystep. How did you discover first . military. Take us stepbystep. How did you discover first . I was at work and a colleague said i was walking a little bit skew. I was physically active and just power through it but he found me and when i watched the film it shocks me. Filmed me. So i went to the medical centre and they were sticking pins in my left leg and i couldnt feel a thing so i went straight to hospital and was diagnosed week later. And the Invictus Games for you, presumably, we spoke to some other competitors today. It is quite an emotional thing, isnt it . Sports recovery with help for heroes has played such a hit huge part in everyones life. Everyone going to sheffield next week has been on their own personaljourney. And sports recovery, through warrior games, Invictus Games and trials which are next week, has played a huge part. What sports are you participating in . I am doing 100 metres, short, setting rowing at sitting volleyball. Phil, what part are you playing . I am part of the art company. We will be putting on a show, poetry readings, workshops, art exhibitions, everything that involves around the arts. You are a former Marine Commando so you have a real affinity with the emotions that people will be going through in terms of injury for one. But also if they have left the armed forces. That is very much something i am going to myself at the moment. I have just left the marines. I tried to sort of stay on as long as i could but they got the better of me. What were your injuries . Shrapnel wins, i was blown up in afghanistan. I had wins, i was blown up in afghanistan. Ihada wins, i was blown up in afghanistan. I had a brain injury. It took a long while to recover. Also hearing problems, i am while to recover. Also hearing problems, iam partially while to recover. Also hearing problems, i am partially deaf. While to recover. Also hearing problems, iam partially deaf. I have managed them but being a royal marina is difficult when you have multiple entries. And i had to bow out, so to speak. When you see manage them, what does that mean . can doajob manage them, what does that mean . can do a job in certain roles. But ultimately, i cannot do the combat role of a Royal Marines which is why eve ryo ne role of a Royal Marines which is why everyonejoins in the role of a Royal Marines which is why everyone joins in the first place. Soi everyone joins in the first place. So i was offered to do a role i probably didnt want to do or leave the marines and go and pursue a career that i really want to. Put through the work youre doing now, asa through the work youre doing now, as a writer as well as an actor, you are drawing attention sell to some of the issues and the Invictus Games is so linked to . The last two films i have made and i havejust got a new arts commission, they are around pt not just for soldiers and vetera ns pt not just for soldiers and veterans but also the families. Ptsd. That is something we dont really see. Telus about that because iimagine, you really see. Telus about that because i imagine, you talk about your own journey but for your family those must have been really difficult times . When you are injured. They we re times . When you are injured. They were living it with you. It is a fun, mother did not want to get and she had her own problems. Experience it from the site of mother perspective. Georgie, when you hear about the entertainment and the arts that are being put on with this and the thought that has been put into this, did you ever think when you took part in the last Invictus Games. You didnt . But having seen the last Invictus Games, tuc how this is developing to be more than just about the sport . Absolutely. Normally the trials are a weekend in bath. But this time it is a whole week which is including a zero programme which is hugely important. It is so important the stories get out there. Because the family is so important and behind us there as People Holding us up. They can easily forgotten to think it is very important that the message gets across. Because we are supported. We are supported by each other, we are supported by the process, we are supported by the process, we are supported by the help for heroes who get us to this place. Lets give a little bit back. Sunni all the people we meet in linked to invictus are incredibly determined. All the people we meet are linked to invictus are incredibly determined. Fingers crossed. I will be there next year. We wish you well. Good to see both. Time for the weather with nick. Low pressure moving to the east allowing some on the west to see some sunshine. That has already happened in Northern Ireland. This is the past few hours of the rainfall radar. The blue indicates where we are getting a particularly across parts of scotland and Northern Ireland. All of this is moving eastwards today. Northern ireland looking mainly dry, some cloud and sunshine. Drying western scotland, more in wales and the west of england will see fewer showers and more in the way of sunshine this afternoon. Heavy and thundery downpours through eastern scotland and north east scotland, midlands and north east scotland, midlands and east anglia and later in the south east. Temperatures around 18 to 22. You will notice the breeze. The sunshine at royal portrush, tomorrow the wind starts to back up and the rain comes back and for an interesting final day. This is the evening. Showers clearing away for the eastern side of the uk, dry and clear and a bit cooler overnight. Easierfor clear and a bit cooler overnight. Easier for sleeping. Clear and a bit cooler overnight. Easierforsleeping. Part two clear and a bit cooler overnight. Easier for sleeping. Part two of the weekend. Sunshine to start the day but here comes the rain and Northern Ireland which pushes across much of scotla nd ireland which pushes across much of scotland as a day goes on towards north west england and north wetter later. Although cloud will build, much of the day will be dry looking towards the mid 205. Cooler where you have the rain. Very wet overnight. The mesmerising coverage of the apollo 11 moon landing, brought previously unthinkable images into homes across the world. 22 Million People tuned in to watch the bbcs first all night broadcast and it was all unplanned. James burke was the man who guided the nation through all the events, and David Sillito has been to meet him. Good evening james burke 50 years ago he was the bbcs moon man. At this moment, apollo 11 is nearly 35,000 miles out from earth and heading for the moon at 7000 mph. Over the week of the lunar mission, he was on air for around 27 hours. And almost all of it has been lost. But, thankfully, we still have mrjames burke. 50 years on, welcome to what is a virtual reconstruction of that bbc studio from the night. And joining me, well, the very realjames burke. It is only a virtual reconstruction, but does this all take you back . Yes, it does. There is armstrong. The atmosphere was quite tense. Because it was something you got one go at. If you got it wrong, you got it completely wrong. Just now Mission Control asked them why the long period of radio silence and they answered that wasnt radio silence, that was a sandwich in my mouth. What was the most terrifying thing about being the studio . Say, the moment when Neil Armstrongs coming down the steps. There he is putting his foot out. The worst thing you can do on those missions is talk when an astronaut is talking. And i had horror dreams the night before, that hed be walking down the steps and he would open his mouth to Say Something and i would Say Something on top of it. Thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. Were used to live broadcasts, now, of major world events, this was something unusual, though, wasnt it . The first all night broadcast . Yes, i mean, it was the first all night broadcast, which meant two things. A, we stayed up all night, so we were, you know, no sleep all night. And it wasnt planned one of the final landing computer programmes. Were go. Altitude 9200 feet. Looking great. Indeed, they were supposed to be having a rest. And i sat listening to the conversation between them all and they were doing things that clearly you do when youre going to go out, not when youre going to go to sleep. So i said, look, i think theyre going to go out. And people said well, if we do that and we stay up all night, this could be very bad for your career, if they dont get out but we did and they did. What was the most nerve racking moment for you, then . Well, landing. 200 feet to go. As they got down to under 30 seconds worth of fuel, he was over a big boulderfield and a giant crater and it looked like a bit of flat land on the other side so he tried for that. And they landed after, what, 240,000 miles in three days, with 19 seconds of fuel left . Thats what you call nerves of steel. 50 years on, whats your overriding feeling then, about all of this . Its history. And the sad thing is that for young people today, its just dead and gone. They take it for granted. And they forget what an extraordinary event it was. James burke, a pleasure to meet you, a pleasure to talk to you. And a pleasure to talk to you in, well, as near as we can get to the bbc studio. The bbc studio, yes amazing memories and his voice just ta kes you amazing memories and his voice just takes you back. I am very envious that you got to watch it. The movie version of the stage show cats has all the makings of a Box Office Success an a list cast, a huge budget and a memorable soundtrack. But when the trailer for the movie was released online it began trending for all the wrong reasons and has been described as terrifying and insane. Lets take a look at why the claws are out for cats. Are you going to try for a different life . A new day has begun. Have you seen that before . Did you think it was terrifying . Not really. I was quite excited. Film critic Siobhan Synott joins us now. What were your first thoughts . My first thought was that it does what a trailer is supposed to do. It tells you the story. You liked memory . This film will play memory. It also has names people who are going to sing. So it solves a basic question and given that it is not coming out till december it doesnt wa nt to coming out till december it doesnt want to give away too many surprises. I ceo mckellen in there, what with his voice be like . Trailers are very tightly edited so we see tiny snippets which may be gives an odd sense of. Trailers are always about getting you to go and see the film rather than telling you what it is about. Dunkirk suggested it was a straightforward war story. What they want is to get you to come and see it but not frighten you to much although that seems to be the word going around on the internet about cats. It is the cgi skin cases that people find problematic. They think it is a bit creepy. I am problematic. They think it is a bit creepy. Iam more problematic. They think it is a bit creepy. I am more intrigued because if they have cat faces, did have cat tongues or human terms . How its clearing process . This is a trailer which has so many questions. What size are the . There are bits where the size of rp and the other when they are as are as big as dustbins. It isa they are as are as big as dustbins. It is a film about cats it should bea it is a film about cats it should be a fantasy people see a trailer and start over analysing it. Like i am. It is also annoyed the people from top gun because top gun was also released yesterday and cats is also released yesterday and cats is a thing that we are talking about. If top gun wanted to spoil cats they could get a laser dot pen. Or you could get a laser dot pen. Or you could blend the two and get top cat . When people complain about what you see ina when people complain about what you see in a trailer, people try to sue the film drive because there was not enough driving but i think that is about complaining about Adult Entertainment movies misrepresenting how quickly plumbers will come out and fix your plumbing. It is beside the point. These are outside companies who make the trailers and are looking to grab you and get you talking, perfect for the internet age. Two minutes of entertainment to get you talking and if you dont like it, you can go on the internet and complain. Thank you very much. Thats it from breakfast this morning. Ben and rachel will be here from 6pm tomorrow. But for now, from us, have a great weekend. This is bbc news. Im shaun ley. The headlines at ten iran seizes a british flagged oil tanker in the gulf. The uk government says therell be serious consequences if it isnt released. We will respond in a way that is considered but robust. We are absolutely clear that if the situation is not resolved quickly, there will be serious consequences. I dont believe that ships and seafarers, innocent farers who are going about legitimately doing their business in support of global trade should be drawn into the politics. A warning from the chairman of the high speed 2 rail project its cost could rise by £30 billion. This is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind
