First set foot on the moon. The mayor of new york declares a local emergency, as two thirds of the United States prepares for a dangerous heatwave. Good morning. Our weather is set to get hotter next week. In fact, very hot for some of us, but were not there yet. Still a bit of rain to come this weekend. Ive got yourfull forecast coming up. In sport, rory mcilroy falls agonisingly short at the open as he misses the cut by one shot in front of home support at royal portrush in Northern Ireland. Its saturday the 20th ofjuly. Our top story uk ships have been warned by the government to stay away from the persian gulf, after Iranian Armed forces seized a british tanker yesterday. Late last night, the foreign secretary, jeremy hunt, said therell be serious consequences if the vessel and its 23 crew arent quickly released, but added that military options are not being considered. It comes after weeks of escalating tensions in the region as simon jones reports. Seized in a major escalation of tensions, the stena impero, a british flagged tanker and its 23 crew members from india, russia, latvia and the philippines now in the hands of iran after it was surrounded by four boats and a helicopter. This is completely unacceptable. Freedom of navigation must be maintained. We will respond in a way that is considered but robust. And we are absolutely clear that if this situation is not resolved quickly, there will be serious consequences. The tanker was tracked leaving the united arab emirates, heading north, staying well inside the International Waters of the gulf. But just after three oclock yesterday afternoon, the 30,000 tonne vessel makes an abrupt change of course, its last known movement inside iranian waters. An announcement on iranian tv claimed the tanker had failed to respect International Maritime rules. Its british operator says thats not true. London is now urging uk ships to stay out of the area for the time being. There is no alternative route in and out of the gulf, so if this is to endure then clearly its going to impact on our trade routes, trading patterns and ultimately the price of those goods. The us president is rallying to britains support. We have a lot of ships there that are warships and well talk to the uk and we have no written agreement, but we have an agreement. Theyve been a very great ally of ours. A second british owned tanker, the mesdar, was boarded by armed guards but has now been allowed to continue on its journey. Irans actions are believed to be in response to this, the Royal Marines helping to seize an iranian supertanker off the coast of gibraltar earlier this month. Britain believed it was Smuggling Oil to syria in violation of eu sanctions. Iran accused london of piracy. A meeting of the governments emergency committee, cobra, went on late into the night. The big question now who will make the next move . Simonjones is outside the Foreign Office in Central London for us this morning. We had that cobra meeting as you mentioned late last night with comments from donald trump. There is no denying, this is a major diplomatic situation. Yes, and tensions are very much escalating. We had a statement from the foreign 0ffice we had a statement from the Foreign Office here in the early hours of this morning saying they remain deeply concerned about the situation, so much so that they are advising british ships not to sail in that area for the moment and that could cause a real headache for oil firms. Also a warning of serious consequences if this issue is not resolved quickly. Now, the foreign 0ffice havent spelt out exacting what they mean by that, butjeremy hunt said they are not talking about a military options but about diplomacy. He has tried to contact his iranian counterpart but was unable him yesterday. I understand there will be an effort to have a conversation today, but ultimately, the tensions are growing. We have had a very different story about the situation from tehran this morning. It claims this british tanker was involved in an accident with an iranian fishing boat and it claims that the tanker then failed to respond to an emergency call and thatis respond to an emergency call and that is why it was impounded. We are told the tanker has been taken back told the tanker has been taken back toa told the tanker has been taken back to a port in iran, all 23 crew members remain on board and that will be the case while an investigation continues, but no timescale for that. Ultimately, investigation continues, but no timescale forthat. Ultimately, it seems this may not be resolved quickly and saw the new Prime Minister coming in next week may find that he has a supertanker sized problem to resolve. Find that he has a supertanker sized problem to resolve. For the moment, thank you. The cost of the new £56 billion high speed rail project hs2 could increase by another 30 billion. The Financial Times says that allan cook, who took over as chair of the High Speed Railway last december, has warned that the scheme cant be delivered within budget. The phrase poor doors is used to describe different entrances for social housing tenants, with the intention of separating them from private residents who live in new build housing developments. The communities secretary, james brokenshire, said he was appalled by some examples of segregation he has seen. Ministers have promised to put an end to the practice in england, by introducing new planning measures to create more inclusive housing. This sense of separation, the sense of segregation, that, for me, is completely unacceptable and why i think it is right that we take action to ensure that cannot continue, that cannot happen and therefore everyone has the same form of access regardless of the type of home that they live in. Authorities in new york city are urging people to stay cool and safe as record breaking temperatures grip the area. Temperatures are set to hit 100 degrees fahrenheit thats 38 celsius over the weekend. The heatwave could affect about 200 Million People in major cities like new york and washington. Ramzan karmali reports. The race to stay cool in new york city. Extreme hot weather is already starting to be felt here and though it may look like fun at the pool, the citys mayor declared a local emergency. The message i want to keep getting across to all new yorkers is take this weather seriously. Weve not seen temperatures like this in at least seven years. We havent seen this many concentrated hot days in a long, long time. Take this very seriously. People are being advised to stay indoors as much as possible over the weekend and avoid exposure to the heat. New yorks triathlon was due to take place on sunday but was cancelled due to the extreme weather conditions athletes would have likely faced. But the heat is on, notjust in the big apple. Were going to see dew points, which is a way to measure the amount of moisture in the air, well into the 70s. The highest its ever been in boston is 78 dew point and were going to approach that here over the next couple of days, so you combine that with a temperature between 95 and 100 degrees, it will feel between 102 and 110 degrees. And its notjust the us where the heat will be felt. In montreal, the humidity could make it feel like 45 degrees. The world experienced its hottest june on record last month and weve experienced more frequent heat waves. This, experts say, is down to climate change. This latest heatwave is likely to last the whole weekend, but there will be some quick relief as temperatures are set to fall rapidly early next week. Local Authority Services such as bin collections would be brought back under the control of councils, as part of new plans being announced by labour this morning. The party says it wants councils in england to stop the practice of outsourcing services to private firms within five years, if it wins the next election. Visitors to chester zoo got an extra special surprise when a critically endangered chimpanzee was born right in front of them. Imagine witnessing this. The baby primate was born to mother alice, a west african chimpanzee, as zoo guests watched. Bosses say the newborn, which is yet to be named, is in good health and shes spending time bonding with the rest of the chimps. Those are the main stories this morning. Its nine minutes past eight. The weather for the weekend coming up later along with all the sports news but for now, lets go back to one of our main stories this morning. The foreign secretary, jeremy hunt, has warned of serious consequences if iran does not release the british tanker seized in the gulf. It comes after weeks of escalating tensions in the region. We can speak now to the author and journalist tim marshall whos written extensively on Foreign Relations with iran and joins us from our london newsroom. Good morning to you. What is your insta nt good morning to you. What is your instant reaction to whats happening now, these escalating tensions . That its part of a continuum and the trajectory is very negative. You have to ask yourself the question, is freedom of navigation in International Waters a fighting matter . And the answer to that question is yes. When you see the trajectory is very negative, what do you think the implications of this are . This in the short term can be resolved. The Iranian Foreign minister was on a plane yesterday which is why the foreign secretary couldnt get hold of him. Lets assume they talk today. They can hopefully resolve it, although i doubt it in the short term. I mean, there is even a scenario where the british say, well, the grace one tanker which was seized by the british off the gibraltar coast, yes, that will now be able to go on its way back to iran and you will 110w its way back to iran and you will now release this tanker. I do not think that will happen because that looks like blackmail by the iranians, but that is one of the ways forward. In the medium term, though, when i see the trajectory, this is going to continue because the wider issue is that iran is hurting so badly because of sanctions, the americans have pulled out of the nuclear deal, the europeans are not investing in iran as they were supposed to in the nuclear deal and consequently iran thinks, what have we got to lose . They have warned, if we cannot sell oui they have warned, if we cannot sell our oil around the world, we will stop people getting the oil in and out of the strait of hormuz. That is what i mean by the trajectory, it is entirely negative. If we take it one step further, looking at the european and us relations, there must be collaboration here to resolve the situation. That is what i meant about freedom of navigation being a fighting matter. It is an attack on all shipping to take a ship from International Waters which is clearly what has happened. With iranians, its a bit threadbare, this idea that they were in the wrong shipping lane in International Waters, that they had turned off their transponder, they need to have something that makes them not look like pirates. But a lot of countries, japan, china, get most of their Energy Sources from that route. They will also want an end to this sort of piracy. The americans have got something called operation sentinel. The brits and the americans are now putting extra ships into patrol to protect the shipping. It is in other peoples interests possibly to join that. That is where we might be heading, but then you have an awful lot of warships ina but then you have an awful lot of warships in a very, very narrow amount of water. It is extremely dangerous times and, as i said, the iranians that might want to compromise are not necessarily in charge of iran. The revolutionary guards in the Supreme Leader is. How does that play out, then . This is the trajectory. It is heading towards a possible conflict. You will notice that when the foreign secretary was asked, he was asked do you rule out military intervention at this point . He did not actually rule it out. Yes, he said we are not considering military measures, which i believe, but he did not rule it out down the line. What happened in the 1980s, there was an operation by the 1980s, there was an operation by the americans under reagan, very similar, tanker guards to get the tankers through safely and it ended very badly with an american warship shooting and iranians passengerjet out of the sky with hundreds of people dying. It was a mistake. But we are heading back at the moment towards tanker was where any ship that goes to has to be escorted by a warship and tensions just keep rising. Unless you solve the issue that iran has about sanctions and that iran has about sanctions and that iran has about sanctions and that iran has about the nuclear deal, this is going to get worse and the europeans, sorry i know you mention them two questions ago, they are mention them two questions ago, they a re pretty close mention them two questions ago, they are pretty close to pulling out of the iran deal as well. Mr hunt or mr johnson, whichever one it is that ta kes johnson, whichever one it is that takes over on wednesday, this looks likely to be their first Foreign Affairs crisis. At the moment, i suspect that they would be thinking it may be time to pull out of the deal and looking at still remaining eu partners but possibly to do the same. What sort of timeframe are you putting on this, if this escalates . At the moment, this is where you say the trajectory seems to be going, what are we looking at over the next six months . Across the next six weeks, we are looking at one or two more incidents. This is not in isolation, is it . There have been two drones shot down now, one from each side, iran and the usa. There has been an attempt to get a british flagged tanker. We have had two extra warships going in from the uk. We have had incidents of tankers being mined and hold at the water line, so there are going to be some more over the next six weeks. 0nce we have got through the summer, my history of International Relations and crisis seems to be that some people go away in the summer but seriously things seem to escalate once you get the first day back at school which is september and i think, at that point, you will see concerted diplomatic action and if there is not freedom of navigation through the strait of hermes at that point, there will be, at the very minimum, a sort of tanker war which could lead to conflict. It does not have to be that way. You know, they are trying to find, as the americans say, off ramps, ways, as the british say, off ramps, ways, as the british say, finding a ladder to climb down and we must find those letters because if we do not find them, we have seen where the trajectory goes. What is the potential . It feels very doom and gloom, doesnt it, at the moment . Sorry. No, no, you are seeing it as it is. But what is the potential to find that climb down . When you see an off ramp, when you are thinking it through, you look a bit closer and you see a barrier on the off ramp. 0ne bit closer and you see a barrier on the off ramp. One of those is the idea of a tanker swap because people will be furious. They would say, hang ona will be furious. They would say, hang on a minute, will seized an iranian tanker allegedly in british waters. It was in the spanish see, not british waters, but that is because they do not recognise british control of gibraltar is, but it was in not International Waters and it was impounded. If then the iranians asa and it was impounded. If then the iranians as a bargain chip sees a british tanker and we do a swap, it is clearly seen to be black male, so thatis is clearly seen to be black male, so that is the problem with that off ramp. 0ne that is the problem with that off ramp. One of the ways is that the iranians somehow persuade mr trump to come back into the nuclear deal and to lift sanctions. I cant really see that happening. I am giving you the off ramps but also saying that they are very difficult to see going all the way through. There is another one, that mr trump has offered a sit down, a one on one with the iranians like you did in north korea, and that could resolve some of their differences. For the iranians, this is all about selling their oil on the International Market and getting investment because their economy is in a basket case. It has been fascinating talking to you. Thank you so much. You have really explained that really clearly and laid out all the scenarios. To marshal their speaking to us. Thank you very much, a writer and political expert. It is 17 minutes past eight. Heres nick with a look at this mornings weather. Good morning. Dodging the downpours again today, sunny skies in somerset, low pressure in control across the uk so there will be further showers today, but not a wash out everywhere because there will be sunshine occasionally, too, and as low pressure begins to move away eastwards, its western parts that will turn drier and in some spots sunnier as we go through the day as the shower really become confined to easternmost areas by the end of the day. Here is the recent rainfall radar picture, heavy, thundery rain towards the south east of the night. Still one or two thunderstorms out there to start the day. Showers around in scotland and Northern England. All of this is moving eastwards during the day, so already now becoming mainly dry in Northern Ireland. We will get there into western scotland and eventually that afternoon more of wales and west of england will be drying up. You can see the shower still bear on through the afternoon from east of scotla nd through the afternoon from east of scotland over the pennines, parts of the pennines into east anglia, some heavy and thundery. Southernmost counties of england mainly dry. Still breezy out there, between 18 and 22 degrees for most of us, 2a in the warmer parts of southern area. Royal portrush for the third day of the open looks good, but look at this for tomorrow, things will turn very interesting for the final round and the wind will start to pick up as well. Before we get to tomorrows forecast, lets finish off today. Still some evening showers across eastern areas, but they will quickly die away and the bulk of the night is going to be dry, clear and lower temperatures as well, around ten to 14 temperatures as well, around ten to 1a degrees overnight and into sunday morning. Sunday starts with a lot of sunshine. It will not end that way. Some cloud is going to build, you may catch an isolated shower but then proper rain coming back towards Northern Ireland as the morning goes on. Its there for the afternoon and pushes across more of scotland, eventually reaching north west england and north wales later in the afternoon and into the evening. Elsewhere in england and wales, during daylight hours, its mostly with temperatures into the low to mid 20s but cool and breezy and where you have that rain moving in, it looks very wet. Sunday night and into monday, that rain starts to pull its way northwards, more places dry on monday, more places starting to see sunshine and eventually after a cloudy start and notice the temperatures are edging upwards. Ready on monday, near 30 across parts of eastern and south eastern england. Its a sign of things to come next week. Another heatwave coming to europe from iberia, france and germany. For scotland and Northern Ireland, mid 20s, the mid 30s in the hottest parts of east and south east england. High humidity as well and for a few days, most places will be dry with some sunshine before thundery weather comes back from the west later next week. But the heat is on the way back. Back to you. 50 years ago today Neil Armstrong and buzz aldrin became the first people to set foot on the moon. It was a moment that brought the world together. Heres our science correspondent pallab ghosh. This is Apollo Saturn launch control. Were still aiming towards our planned liftoff at the start of the lunar window, 9 32am eastern daylight. The saturn 5 rocket shimmers on launch pad a at the Kennedy Space center. As the dawns early light fades, three astronauts get ready for a mission that will propel them, and the rest of humanity, into a new era. In their space suits, commander Neil Armstrong leads edwin buzz aldrin and mike collins into the spacecraft. Three, two, one. We have liftoff. Neil armstrong reporting the roll and Pitch Programme which puts apollo 11 on a proper heading. In orbit, and a view from inside the spacecraft, the earth disappearing rapidly from view. Neil armstrong shot by buzz aldrin, who get a few tips from Mission Control. Roger, its a little dark now, 11. Maybe a bigger f stop might help. The journey takes four days and the astronauts remain as clean cut as ever for their big moment. As the eagle approaches the lunar surface, armstrong notices that the spacecraft is off course and headed towards terrain littered with dangerous boulders. 0k, our flight controllers going to go for a landing. Retro. Go. Vital. Go. Guidance. Go. Neil armstrong takes Manual Control and with fuel running low, brings the spacecraft down. The eagle has landed. Roger, tranquillity. We copy on the ground. Youve got a bunch of guys about to turn blue. Were breathing again. Thanks a lot. He then makes his descent onto the lunar surface. Im going to step onto land now. And uttered the words that would reverberate through history forevermore. Its one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. Although it was the american flag, it was humanitys achievement. On earth, there was conflict and division, but for a moment in time, the world came together in awe and wonder. Go ahead, mr president. This is houston. Hello, neil and buzz. Im talking to you by telephone from the oval room at the white house. For one priceless moment in the whole history of man, all the people on this earth are truly one. It was a time when all things seemed possible, the very stars seemed within grasp, only for plans for the human exploration of other worlds to fade. But Neil Armstrong himself said that the dream was still there and it would come back in time. Entertainment journalist caroline frost is here to tell us whats caught her eye in the inside pages. You were just saying as we watch that, a connection with space and lemon. Very tenuous state make tenuous, but a couple of years, before he died, jean conan turned up at the sheffield documentary festival for his film the last man 0n festival for his film the last man on the moon at which he still is. I asked him what he thought, what his conversations with Neil Armstrong was like. In the last moment, when the world was watching, and he said, neil knows what we all know, there is always a little bit more in the tank. Very laid back. I know it is such a cliche, but we do not make them like that with that right staff, with that humility as well as that brain. I dont think they come in that package any annual armstrong was the right person to be the first man on the moon. We were talking earlier to an expert who said they monitored his heart rate and it was going like the clappers, that was the phrase he used. But you would never have known. Lets take a look at what you are looking at this this is something. Well, banning a segregated play spaces at new housing. We have been talking about social housing and new build housing and how there has been some segregation for people there, but this is a step further. The fact that it has had to happen. The good news is that the Greater London authority have now put plans into place saying that no segregation for a play areas can happen in any future developments, however the point that it is sad that it has had to come to come to that where legislation has had to take place and there is a problem with existing developments so as a proportion of all development is now having to be Affordable Housing and what some of these architects and developers are doing or have been doing up until now is placing either walls or fobs 01 now is placing either walls or fobs or gated areas, i guess to give that kind of rarefied, exclusive feeling to people who are spending money on their property, but it is not morally acceptable. City can has put his weight behind it. Although they cannot do anything about existing developments, perhaps the moral illness will now be on those developments to follow suit, so watch this space. A story from the daily telegraph. Science fiction writers, what is the story here . This is a bit bonkers but in a good way. The french army, specifically the Defence Innovation Agency which sounds like something out of mission impossible, they have decided that to continue to fight their own particular war on unknown terrors, they will not only recruit the best of military forces but also Science Fiction writers because they want them to come up with hypothetical scenarios that they are military, even their top brass do not have the imagination to envisage because they are so focused on existing threats, so they said they want them to come up so they said they want them to come up with things more out of the way then even black mirror even things on tv, and i did not realise until i read this but this follows in the us, after 9 11, one of the problems was that they are top Defence Agency suffer from a lack of imagination. They could not imagine an attack like that, so they recruited a bunch of Science Fiction writers to come in and brainstorm. It is like something out of isnt it . Its a serious scenario, it is exactly what happened with technology to do with phones, wasnt it . In star trek, they had forms that flipped up although they will not cult films and then years later, we had mobile phones that did the exact same thing and the people who imagines that we re and the people who imagines that were miles ahead of technology. That is what star trek fans boast about, that they got so many things right. I spoke to duncanjones, the film director a few years ago and i asked him to explain to me the appeal of sci fi because i have never quite got it and he said it is basically what if . And, of course, that spells it all out, doesnt it . It is what if . You have been looking at discoveries around the battle of waterloo. This is lovely. We know that there are all sorts of conversations. Prince harry has been pushing forward the invicta schemes, there are lots of overdue conversations about Mental Health for military veterans, ptsd and terrible injuries, and they have been recruited by a charity called waterloo and covered and they have joined a Huge Campaign to take military veterans to waterloo to participate in archaeological digs. They are finding cannonballs, muskets, and they are helping to uncover history from napoleons great battle and it is helping them process their own past or recent troubles and they have cited a couple of anecdotes with the soldiers are saying it has given them purpose, time to process, teamwork and giving them something to focus on and helping them to come to focus on and helping them to come to terms with some terrible injuries, so a really good story. To terms with some terrible injuries, so a really good storym is worth saying as well we have some of the stars of the Invictus Games in the studio a little later on. That is another area where a lot more attention has been drawn. We know that prince harry has been so under the spotlight recently for a good ad for a bad, but i do not think anybody can argue with how he has helped put that huge bunch of people on the map, on peoples radar and brought the right kind of attention to them, so good for him. We will see you in on ours time. Stay with us, headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with Naga Munchetty and charlie stayt. Heres a summary of this mornings main news. Uk ships have been warned by the government to stay away from the gulf, after iran seized a british tanker yesterday. The foreign secretary, jeremy hunt, says therell be serious consequences if the vessel and its 23 crew arent released quickly. Lets speak to our middle east correspondent, lina sinjab is in beirut for us this morning. We had that emergency cobra meeting here in london. We have heard President Trump making comments as well. The stakes are high . Indeed. It isa well. The stakes are high . Indeed. It is a really tense time with iran with this incident. The uk government has warned that the ships should be released immediately. But of course they also said that the issue should be resolved diplomatically. And the call with the us is to help President Donald Trump said they are going to support the uk as an ally. That they have worshipped in the region. And they we re worshipped in the region. And they were going to solve this issue. But no one wants to solve this militarily. The iranians government is saying that this is a violation of maritime regulations. That the british ship has been involved in an accident with a fishing trip. The boat, we believe, as at port at the moment. Iranians are carrying out investigations into the issues at the moment but iran wants to use this as pressure for some resolving of problems with the economic sanctions on iran. So that is an incident that they are going to use for political gain as well. Thank you very much. The cost of the new £56 billion high speed rail project hs2 could increase by another 30 billion. The mayor of new york, bill de blasio, has declared a local emergency, due to the extreme heat in the city. Those are the main stories this morning. We need to talk about the dont be gavin . Because there is drama . Rory mcavoy missed the shot by one shot. Rory mcilroy. There is a lot of british interest at the top of the leaderboard. There is still plenty of home interest at the top of a crowded leaderboard though, as adam wild reports. In picturesque portrush, golf as dramatic and spectacular as the surroundings, with all of the ups and downs, the open championship always delivers. For irishman shane lowry, this may well be an unforgettable weekend, joint leader at the halfway stage. But over his shoulder, the english pair of Tommy Fleetwood and lee westwood. Could his wait for a major title be nearly over . Well, as everyone at portrush will tell you, patience sometimes pays off. Its taken 68 years for this great championship to return to Northern Ireland, and whilst the focus now is on that race to the claretjug tomorrow afternoon, there remains lots of discussion around portrush about those star players who have not made it this far. Home hero rory mcilroy came agonisingly close to an open comeback to rival that of portrush itself just a shot off making the cut. Its been a somewhat emotional day, you know . I you know, the support that i got from the crowds out there were absolutely phenomenal and, you know, as much as i was trying to do it for me, i was trying to do it for them as well. Fellow northern irishman Darren Clarke looked close to tears as he blew his chance at the 18th. Still, someone at this 0pen will get their fairy tale finish although it may not be the one anyone predicted. Adam wild, bbc news, at royal portrush. England are looking to reach their first netball world cup final, when they take on new zealand later today. 0ur reporter kate grey is in liverpool for us this morning. Fantastic game this is set to be. Can england do this . It is really heating up liverpool. We have our first match taking to the court in a few moments time but it is all about england today trying to make it through to their first netball world cup final. Through to their first netball world cupfinal. Up through to their first netball world cup final. Up against new zealand, toughest challenge of the tournament so far. England have been faultless with six wins in six matches, most significantly when they beat south africa on thursday. 0ne significantly when they beat south africa on thursday. One of the on form teams at the tournament but england looked clinical in their play throughout the court. The shooting stats were well on target. New zealand will not make it easy for them. They have made it through to the last five world cup finals. In fact, england lost to them in the semifinals in 2015. So this is going to bea semifinals in 2015. So this is going to be a clash of the titans. We know that new zealand are very experienced. We have a number of players who have been in the situation before and it is up to england to step it up once more. And me make it through with the potential of meeting the final defending champions australia or south africa again who we know they have already beaten. So it is going to bea have already beaten. So it is going to be a brilliant day of semifinals and england got a lot have of work to do. Scotland and Northern Ireland are also plain today. What is at sta ke for are also plain today. What is at stake for them . Your timing is great. Scotland are now being welcomed onto court, you can hear the bagpipes in the bag. Scotland will play barbados. They came into the tournament seventh so will be hoping to get a win and try and finish on a high. Northern ireland will be on action later today. They are playing for the ninth and tenth position against trinidad and tobago. But today is all about and grinned. Can they make it through to the first final . And there will be live coverage of england v new zealand this afternoon from 2 30pm on bbc two. Other matches are on the red button. Those games start early, dont they . They do. Thick and fast. It is an action packed event down in liverpool and exciting to see it. We have had so much great sport recently havent we . The dream is of course that lots of people get involved . Especially with what we saw with a cricket, and hope as it can inspire the next generation and sports like cricket and netball, they have been minority sports to a degree compared to football and other headline sports. A lot of it is down to whether or not they are broadcast . Completely true. Static this can really bring the entertainment to the masses. And hopefully that will do this. Netball. When you think of netball players, height is obviously the first thing you think about. So if youre going to send someone in to find out how to become a good netball player and play with great players, who would you pick . Make special . Mike bushell. For decades, theyve been terrifying all that came before them. Making the sport their own. 11 world cups to their name. And this weekend, the Australian Diamonds will be even more determined to retain their crown, because of what happened to them at home last year. 0h, shall happen again to take the world netball. When england there are to beat them to win commonwealth gold. They have broken history i think every time we go out as a team it is to be our best. And we werent our best when we were on the gold coast for that game. But, yeah, probably the toughest it has been. I think a lot of the girls were hurting and no one really wants to feel like that again. But i think it has been probably really good for the sport, and especially over here in england, it being the world cup here. The diamonds have tasted defeat to england before twice more in the last nine months. But in training, they seemed as sharp as ever and fear no one. Ready to lead a merry dance whoever they now meet this weekend. Quick treats are so important, the sport is all about movement off quick feet are so important, the sport is all about movement off the ball and teamwork. But dont think its non contact when playing at such speed. As long as two players are going for the ball, anything is allowed. So i broke my arm in january here, playing. Purely from going to catch a ball and a defender came through a little bit late and tipped my arm, so. Yeah, there are a lot of things that go on off about these days. And then despite all the frenetic action, and movement, it is all about calm composure when the chance comes. Well, they tell me ive actually got three seconds to compose myself, before shooting. Doesnt make any difference, though, really, does it, for me . Its obvious i needed coaching from the sharpest shooter of them all. Six foot five caitlin. So number one is definitely feet. Yeah. We want to make sure they are in nice shoulder width position. Number two is our arms. So, we want to have the ball as high above our head as possible. Because if we are vertically challenged like yourself, we dont want the defender having their hand anywhere near the ball. And lastly, we want to make sure were bending your knees. This is where the power for the shot comes from. Good, good, good at last now do exactly what you just that every single time and youll be fine did you get that on camera . Excellent three, two, one, go captain caitlin is obviously a coach as well in the making. As a local school found out, as they were taken for a series of netball based games. Its all about making friends. Just using their accent first of all. Just hearing their accent first of all. And thenjust, it is really good to just play with them. They are strong passers, definitely. Very nice. So yeah, its obviously nice to see young kids absolutely loving netball. And giving back to the sport, notjust in australia but over here in england. I know that, obviously with the england roses on the rise. 0k team, so it is england versus australia. We gonna win . Yeah i think we got them outnumbered, but how are we going to breakdown this time into defence . This diamond defence . Over here but on this semifinal weekend, friends turned to rivals again. And in the future, it is obvious there is going to be strength and depth for england. He always gives it a go. We were all watching with interest. The Invictus Games is one of the most inspiring sporting events around. The brainchild of prince harry, it allows wounded, injured or sick ex servicemen and women to showcase their athletic skills. The athlete lamin manneh and Eliot Kennedy who is producing one of the performances join us now. You see a sport like that, having a go at netball and. The Invictus Games is a perfect example of people trying something which on the face of it seems almost impossible. And your sport is, first of all, probably worth expending, what happened to you . Probably worth expending, what happened to you . What happened was i was deployed in afghanistan for, to do myjob as a soldier. And as stepped on an ied. I didnt realise until two weeks later. So you lost both your legs when a bomb exploded . And your left arm . So you are left with one arm but you compete in the Invictus Games. What do you compete in . The sport i do is sitting volleyball, shot put, discus. Invictus is about doing what you can. How did you get from that moment when you walk up to competing in the Invictus Games . What was your mind, your mental progression to that . Because one can only imagine when you wake up and realise you have lost your legs and an arm, the first thought is not how can i make the best of this . It is misery. At first i thought my life, would have no value again. Because when you wa ke no value again. Because when you wake up and you see yourself because i thought that i was, suddenly i found myself in place it is quite bright i said am i here . And my wife was sitting beside me. She told me that you are here because you lost your legs and i said dont tell me that. So that was a difficult moment because you realise that you are just doing what doing and all of a sudden you will not be wondering how cani sudden you will not be wondering how can i bea sudden you will not be wondering how can i be a father, how can i be like a son to my parents and how can i be a son to my parents and how can i be a husband . So i found life very difficult. But being a father, you we re difficult. But being a father, you were determined to show that you we re were determined to show that you were going to make the best of yourself and be the best you can be . Of course and i realise that. I have spoken to so many people at the hospital and the support network around and hospital and the support network around and i went through rehabilitation. This sport is my way out. We are not ignoring ul eight. It would be hard to ignore you. These stories are so inspirational. That is why i am doing it. For me and the artists performing on monday night, to take the opportunity to say thank you not only to these incredible brave men and women, but also their family who have also sacrificed so much. It is like getting an award, for artists. So it took me 15 minutes to put this show together. So you just put in the phone calls and everyone said yes please . The first three calls also ds immediately. I started this thing with emma willis. She has at Charity Business who makes bespoke shirts. We discussed it and 50 minutes later we had a show. What will we see . The artists will be performing. But it will be more emotional thanjust a performance because they each get to see thank you. Heather cannot wait. The Invictus Games themselves, aside from the amazing emotion of the stories. The competition is fierce isnt it . The sport itself has become really intense . The sport is a lwa ys become really intense . The sport is always intense. When you have been doing her training, you want to still have the same spirit. You dont want to say i couldnt do it. You do your utmost best, train hard. And just prepare for it and carry each along. You missed the last one didnt you . Is that because your car broke down . Thats right, our breakdown so i didnt get there. There is a clip of you which people can there is a clip of you which people ca n a ccess there is a clip of you which people can access and it is your training on the rowing machine. 0bviously with just one on the rowing machine. 0bviously withjust one arm. On the rowing machine. 0bviously with just one arm. If you are in any doubt of how fierce competitor you are, just have a look at that. It is isnt it . It is on the bbc website. We are all very excited, thank you. The great thing is the sport is amazing but there are also other things going on. We were talking about briefly. There is art, poetry, photography. It is all about rehabilitation and getting people back into life. That is what next week is all about. We wish you the very best. Thank you very much we hope you all watch it. More than 25,000 people may be due compensation from hsbc for charges added to loans some years ago. The bank is asking anyone who thinks they may have been affected to get in touch. Paul lewis from radio 4s Money Programme has been looking into this and joins us now. Good morning. Explain what where these schemes . Who might be in for some cash . It goes back to the early 2000. These are people with loans or credit cards with hfc which is owned by hsbc. They got into trouble. They we re by hsbc. They got into trouble. They were taken to court or at least were written to by solicitors i should say. At that point, a big charge was added to pay for the cost of recovery. And that charge was ruled to be unreasonable, some say it was more than that, some say unlawful or illegal. But in any case, the banks agreed no longer to do it. Along time later, hsbc has decided it will repay those charges plus interest. We do not know how much it will be per person. It will be at least over £1000 each, it could be a lot more. With this compensation, how would people know they are affected, how can we check . This is the problem. It was so long ago, we are told a lot of the records do not exist any more. The banks or courts say we are told that anyway. Many of us dont keep any paperwork for 12, 15 years. So what the bank has now said, which isa so what the bank has now said, which is a new development, in the last few days, they well accept people, recollections. The key thing to remember is that you have a loan or credit card with hfc bank or indeed john lewis financial services, did you get into difficulties, and where you get into difficulties, and where you written to by one of two solicitors. If any of that rings a bell, you may well be entitled to this compensation. So you should contact hsbc. What kind of figures are we talking about . It is very ha rd to are we talking about . It is very hard to know. Initially, the lower estimates from the financial conduct authority, hsp wont share any figures with me at all. We were thinking it would be an average of about £600 plus interest, which going back that mum will double that to £1200. It could be more. I have seen some people whose charges are way above that. So significant. It will cost the bank many millions of pounds if people come forward. It has written to the 25,200 people. This should not ignore the letter. But it does say there may be others and they should get in touch. It says there may be others it believes that there are not any but invites anyone who is involved to get in touch. Is going to, point where we stop talking about compensation claims . They have been so many issues have they not . Are becoming toa issues have they not . Are becoming to a point where they are going to be resolved . To a point where they are going to be resolved . It to a point where they are going to be resolved . It seems like there is another one all the time. Banking business is very complicated. Sometimes the banks go a bit too far. They certainly went to foreign this case. There is still payment protection claims going in, hundreds of millions of pounds a month being paid to people. I do not know if it will ever end. The important thing is that hsbc has at last confessed and said it was wrong and we are going to pay compensation. The argument is now about who will get it and how many there are. Paul, thank you very much. You can hear more on the story on radio 4s money box at midday. Ijust i just wanted to say that neither of the solicitors i mentioned when make any comment. Hsbc told me we believe we have identified all of those affected but anyone can call their helpline number which will be on the bbc money box website. Very rude of me to interrupt, paul. Its time, i just had to get in the responses from other people. He is absolutely furious, you just cant tell. Can i just say it should not only apply to paul. The mesmerising coverage of the apollo 11 moon landing, brought previously unthinkable images into homes across the world. 22 Million People tuned in to watch the bbcs first all night broadcast and it was all unplanned. James burke was the man who guided the nation through all the events, and David Sillito has been to meet him. Good evening james burke 50 years ago he was the bbcs moon man. At this moment, apollo 11 is nearly 35,000 miles out from earth and heading for the moon at 7000 mph. Over the week of the lunar mission, he was on air for around 27 hours. And almost all of it has been lost. But, thankfully, we still have mrjames burke. 50 years on, welcome to what is a virtual reconstruction of that bbc studio from the night. And joining me, well, the very realjames burke. It is only a virtual reconstruction, but does this all take you back . Yes, it does. There is armstrong. The atmosphere was quite tense. Because it was something you got one go at. If you got it wrong, you got it completely wrong. Just now Mission Control asked them why the long period of radio silence and they answered that wasnt radio silence, that was a sandwich in my mouth. What was the most terrifying thing about being the studio . Say the moment when Neil Armstrongs coming down the steps. There he is putting his foot out. The worst thing you can do on those missions is talk when an astronaut is talking. And i had horror dreams the night before, that hed be walking down the steps and he would open his mouth to Say Something and i would Say Something on top of it. Thats one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. Were used to live broadcasts, now, of major world events, this was something unusual, though, wasnt it . The first all night broadcast . Yes, i mean, it was the first all night broadcast, which meant two things. A, we stayed up all night, so we were, you know, no sleep all night. And it wasnt planned one of the final landing computer programmes. Altitude 9200 feet. Looking great. Indeed, they were supposed to be having a rest. And i sat listening to the conversation between them all and they were doing things that clearly you do when youre going to go out, not when youre going to go to sleep. So i said, look, i think theyre going to go out. And people said well, if we do that and we stay up all night, this could be very bad for your career, if they dont get out but we did and they did. What was the most nerve racking moment for you, then . Well, landing. 200 feet to go. As they got down to under 30 seconds worth of fuel, he was over a big boulderfield and a giant crater and it looked like a bit of flat land on the other side so he tried for that. And they landed after 240,000 miles in three days, with 19 seconds of fuel left. Thats what you call nerves of steel. 50 years on, whats your overriding feeling then, about all of this . Its history. And the sad thing is that for young people today, its just dead and gone. They take it for granted. And they forget what an extraordinary event it was. James burke, a pleasure to meet you, a pleasure to talk to you. And a pleasure to talk to you in, well, as near as we can get to the bbc studio. The bbc studio, yes his voice, if you remember those days, it takes you right back. So emotive. I am almost a bitjealous you watched it because. It was not just then. It has had ongoing, it has encouraged people ever since
