And not have it put out in the public domain. Skirmishes have broken out between demonstrators and police in hong kong, after another large scale protest against chinas increasing control over the territory, International Condemnation of irans announcement that its breached another condition of its 2015 International Nuclear agreement. The Jodrell Bank Observatory in cheshire which has been at the forefront of Astronomical Research is declared a unesco World Heritage site. In the past five minutes, the United States have won the 2019 womens world cup. They beat the netherlands in lyon, 2 0. Its the fourth time america has triumphed. Lets go straight to olly foster in the bbcs sports centre. And they are a very worthy champions. They simply overpowered the netherlands, the only oddity about this World Cup Final, which was a sell out, by the way, over 57,000 in attendance, to see the now four time champions, as it was goalless at half time but itjust turned on a couple of goals within two, three second half minutes. The dutch keeper performed absolute wonders, to actually keep the netherlands in this match but then Megan Rapinoe scored a penalty after eu var incident, there will be questions asked at the tournament about how var has been interpreted by the officials, some of the officials put their capabilities have been questioned. It was a penalty, rapinoe went to the top of the golden boot list alongside team mate alex morgan on six goals. It was a lovely goal, the second, that clinched it. Weaving her way towards the box and lovely powerful left foot finish. The dutch beaten for a second time. It could have been four or five but for the dutch keeper. For the first time, the usa getting back to back titles, they we re getting back to back titles, they were the defending champions, lots of pressure coming into the tournament on them but from the very start, the hits double figures in very early in the group stages against thailand. But now they really have grown into this tournament, beating england in the semifinals, of course, and they are worthy champions because the netherlands are the european champions, they just could netherlands are the european champions, theyjust could not live with them and their attacking prowess. Thank you very much. Jane purdon from women in football a Non Profit Organisation that champions women in the beautiful game joins us live. Its been a phenomenal tournament what what what does it mean for womens football. Its taken a huge step forward and some things have changed for goods. The womens game and a womens role in football is now respected. There is much wider understanding the game and truly is for all of us. What has brought that around . Ive got to commend the bbc, i know im speaking on the bbc but they took a brave and absolutely right decision to broadcast every game live and put the lionesses on bbc one. The tv audiences speak for themselves. It has broken through and people have been able to see it and understand this is football, like mens football, sometimes its good, sometimes its not so good, it at its best it skilful and inspiring and enthralling. What is next for the wins game . There is big challenges, this gives us there is big challenges, this gives usa there is big challenges, this gives us a great springboard from which to look forward. Some of the challenges are international and fifa need to look at the development of the game globally, not just look at the development of the game globally, notjust in the rich nations of the world such as a and north america but particularly in africa. In this country the key challenges for the fa who have done a greatjob so far, is look at building the womans super league, i would challenge the media and say youve been with us through this world cup, thank you, we want to see you at the Womens Super League next season as you at the Womens Super League next season as well. We need to build crowds, commercial interests and build the grassroots game. Good work has been done on the grassroots game but there is always more to be done. Lots of this will mean money, people have pointed out the disparities, the woman players earn compared to the woman players earn compared to the men but in terms of development how much does it need from the fifa, from the fa . How long is a piece of string . The fa have done a good job, clubs in the country have done a greatjob in backing their withins teams but at the moment withins football does not pay one thing weve got to get to is make sure it at least can wash its face. Money needs to come from various sources. Weve seen much greater commercial interest now shown by barclays with the landmark deal with the fa for the super league. It is hoped we can build attendances and audiences so gates money will increase, the commercial reve nu es money will increase, the commercial revenues will rise and all these things and drive each other, with greater Media Exposure of this greater Media Exposure of this greater commercial interest and with greater commercial interest and with greater elite success there is greater elite success there is greater numbers at the grassroots playing. You cannot point that one organisation and say you need to do more, Everybody Needs to work hard and do more. You mention the grassroots game and obviously for young girls watching what young woman watching, this must be so inspiring. I think its amazing and we are hearing stories from clubs, grass looked clubs who are saying that they are getting lots of new players joining them off the back of this which is fantastic. The prime focus has to be on young girls and the lionesses of the future. The fa committed to bring every schoolgirl in england the opportunity to play football which is wonderful. We must not forget scotlands womens team out there and come on leaps and bounds since the european championships two years ago. One of the most exciting groups of women who now want to play are a woman of my age group in their 40s and 50s, the miss generation who never had the miss generation who never had the opportunity to play in school. Its a wonderful and social way of doing that all important exercise we all need to do more of. Lots of people have commented on how the us womans team are superior to the us womans team are superior to the mens in the United States. When we look to whats going on here in england and the uk, it seems as if the game of football isnt started early enough in the schools, that option. That has been right to dates and thats not been the study in the us where they are illiterate decades ahead and that all kinds of cultural and funding reasons for that. They are literally decades ahead of us. We need to expand in schools. This is fantastic, what sort of reception do you think the lionesses and everybody else will receive as the game goes on . Its fantastic for the game goes on . Its fantastic for the United States but, you know, moving ahead . The great thing for england at the home nations as we have the olympics next year which team gp has qualified for because of the lionesses performance. That is a major tournament in womans football and the fact weve not been there exceptin and the fact weve not been there except in 2012 has been to our competitive disadvantage. That year after in 2021, im already buzzing for the some england is hosting the european championships. So we will be host nation. There will be games up be host nation. There will be games up and down the country and it will be great to see those stadiums buzzing and full of passionate crowds, like weve seen that many of the games in this tournament. We are seeing images live from the lyon stadium. Going back to england, many people have said lots of the training comes into this and the lionesses were not perhaps in the best location to train and come up against the United States. How do you think that needs to change . I personally think the lionesses had an extra edge or fitness compared to when i last saw them. And a lot of work has been done on this. I dont know if the unexpected heats caught them and other teams may be a little bit short. The other thing is the womans super league has been going for a few years and that will absolutely help as that continues to embed and grow. It gives players the absolutely critical opportunity to play full time. The Scottish National team, thanks to the backing of the scottish government, were full time from last september. That made a huge distance, they looked sharper and physically fitter, at the peak of fitness. At the elite end this is what it takes. These ladies are aiming to beat the best athletes in the world and so they need the kind of training and support that those heading for an olympic gold medal will need. Its at that scale we need to take it. We need to look at the opposition and teams who have been strong like the usa, like the netherlands and say is there something they are doing that we are not. Its been fascinating speaking to you. Lots of things that need to be done to push the womens game. Thank you so much. We just saw you so much. Wejust saw images you so much. We just saw images of the us captain rapinoe lifting the world cup. Handed to her by emmanuel macron. We will stay in that location and speak to seth bennett, just describe the atmosphere for us. Its been a terrific carnival atmosphere all day long, where fans have been turning up to the stadium since one oclock local time this afternoon and partying and having a few drinks, i would imagine, afternoon and partying and having a few drinks, iwould imagine, on afternoon and partying and having a few drinks, i would imagine, on the 12 kilometre tram ride out to the stadium and once inside it has been a real festival atmosphere with the orange and red, white and blue mixing really well. Im just outside the stadium is a Megan Rapinoe lifted the world cup trophy i could hear the fans in the stadium all rise at once salute her and what shes been able to achieve along with her team mates. They have been absolutely terrific, the usa. A class a bove absolutely terrific, the usa. A class above everybody else. What i will say, whilst theyve been the best and they fully deserve to be champions, the rest of the world have closed the gap in the past four yea rs have closed the gap in the past four years and have at the pretty rapid rate. The netherlands, england, sweden, germany and others are doing an awful lot to get much closer to the americans and they may not find it quite so easy in four yea rs not find it quite so easy in four years time. Quickly, seth, what was the key to us victory . What is it about their game . Basically, they appear to be five to ten yea rs basically, they appear to be five to ten years further on than everybody else. Having lived in north america, if you are a really good athlete as a child you properly will play football, soccer, as they call it. And you would get placed on a travelling team playing against all the different pounds and then move on through high school and when you get to collegiate level you have the best athletes and also the best Football Players playing each other and that from where you go on to play for professional teams and go to play for the national team. At every single level there is cut after cut after cut, leaving only the best of the best. That is where they are ahead. The athletic side is where the us has been better than everybody else at this world cup. Yes, theyve been very skilful what other teams in this tournament have matched them tactically and in terms of their individual skills but in terms of their athleticism and ability to do that side of the game, the us are still miles ahead. The gap is going to close and whilst they are back to back world cup champions and they might not make it three in a row. Seth bennett, for now, thank you very much. And we will get the rest of the sporting news by crossing to the bbc sport centre. Follow that well start with cricket, where englands women have had a disastrous afternoon in their latest ashes one day match against australia. Theyve been thrashed by 194 runs at canterbury after being bowled out forjust 75 in the 33rd over. Its their third defeat out of three, and means theyre 6 0 down in the multi format series. Theyll have to win the next match a test if theyre to have any chance of winning the ashes. Ben croucher reports. This was not been the start that england wanted. After losing the first two matches, the second ball in canterbury set the depressing tone of what was to follow for the hosts. Australian excellence and english ineptitude. Half centuries from meg laming and Melissa Healy and late lower order hitting set the world champions a run chase to get back into the ashes. The third ball of the reply . Not the start they wanted. Amyjones caught for nothing. It got worse. Much worse. Sarah taylor, first ball for nought. Danny wyatt . Just the one. Five wickets in five overs for elyse perry. England 21 6. If you could take the tiniest crumb from this crumbling display, they did stumble past their lowest one day total of just 50. The inevitable was not far behind. Beaten by 194 runs. If the start to the womens ashes is anything to go by, the end for england could well be nigh. Dutchman Mike Teunissen has extended his lead on the second day of the Tour De France after the Team Time Trial in brussels. Defending champion Geraint Thomas and his team ineos were the first to go and their time for the Seventeen Mile stage was the best until the final team crossed the line. That was team yumbo visma of teunissen. And he now leads the race by ten seconds, thomas lies joint sixth overall, 30 seconds down. Britains Cal Crutchlow finished third at the german moto gp, just four days after breaking his leg. The honda riderfractured his tibia and damaged knee ligaments in an incident on wednesday, but still managed to make the podium, crossing the line just seven seconds behind championship leader marc marquez. Thats all the sport for now. Ill have more for you in the next hour. The uk government has begun an inquiry into a leak of emails from the British Ambassador in washington which described the Trump Administration as inept. In the memos, obtained by a sunday newspaper, Sir Kim Darroch says despite his shortcomings, president Trumps Administration shouldnt be written off. The Foreign Office says the leak of diplomatic cables is mischievous. Angus crawford reports. The blu ntest of language, about the most powerful man in the world, and his administration, from britains top diplomat in the us, Sir Kim Darroch. Two years of his secret e mails leaked. In one, he wrote. On Donald Trumps recent state visit to the uk, he said the president had been dazzled by the queen, but cautioned this is still the land of america first. And on foreign policy, trumps sabre rattling over iran, approving air strikes and then calling them off, was described as chaotic. Here, serious questions are being raised about the leak. The thing with diplomatic cables, and i used to work at the Foreign Office, id be quite careful about what you say which is on a personal basis in those cables, because its all very well talking about the substance of the relationship, the policies, but i think some of that may, in retrospect, be regarded as unwise. Put in a statement, the Foreign Office denied it would have any long term impact. As for the future, the ambassador compared it to a roller coaster which could lead to disgrace and downfall, but cautioned about writing donald trump off, describing him as indestructible. Angus crawford, bbc news. The Foreign Office has told iran it Must Immediately stop all activities that breach the nuclear deal agreed with World Leaders in 2015. Earlier, tehran confirmed it would break a limit set on uranium enrichment and keep reducing its commitments every 60 days, unless European Countries did more to relieve the impact of american sanctions. The German Government has also said it is extremely concerned by the developments. Alice porter reports. Last week, iran began showing its defiance against the 2015 nuclear deal an agreement designed to contain irans development of nuclear technology. The regime breached the terms by going over the stockpile limits set for low enriched uranium. Now events have gone one step further. At a News Conference in tehran, senior officials said they would soon exceed the level of uranium enrichment set out in the deal. Translation in a few hours time, Technical Work will conclude and the process of proliferation above 3. 67 will start. We expect that tomorrow morning, when the iaea take samples, we will have gone beyond 3. 67 . Iran says there is still opportunity for talks, but european leaders may not be so hopeful. During an hour long call with the iranian leader, the french president expressed strong concern about the consequences of abandoning the deal. So how did we get to this position . Just over a year ago, donald trump upended the agreement and the us imposed tough economic sanctions on iran, severely damaging its economy. I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the iran nuclear deal. In a few moments, i will sign a president ial memorandum to begin reinstating us Nuclear Sanctions on the iranian regime. European leaders are struggling to postpone the moment when they have to declare the nuclear deal dead. But if iran continues to breach its terms, angering the us, they may have no alternative. Alice porter, bbc news. Earlier i spoke to our middle east analyst, alan johnston. I asked him what europe can do in this situation. They are saying to europe you have to come and help ease the impact of those american sanctions, and the impact of the sanctions cant be overstated. They are hammering the iranian economy, the art being rigorously enforced and being felt in the lives of every iranian family. The pain will only grow with every passing month. The leadership in tehran will see this as a potentially existential threats. Its desperate to find a way out. Its desperate to find a way out. Its been saying for more than a year to the europeans, you have to help us ease our way through the sanctions and the europeans have not done enough, in the view of the iranians. And so we see the stockpiling to a greater limit than they are supposed to enriched uranium and now taking the enrichment process to another stage. Regionally there is pressure on donald trump to hold firm, ally want him to take a firm stand against iran. We hear about the iran hawks pushing mr trump to carry on like this. How much pressure is he under . He will be hearing it from two sides. There are senior figures in his administration who one wanted to ta ke his administration who one wanted to take the top possible line with iran, not least National Security adviserjohn bolton who before he was in that position used to talk about the need for regime change in iran. There is another constituency that mr trump must take into account, the more isolationist type republican element that does not wa nt to republican element that does not want to see america getting caught up want to see america getting caught up in more middle eastern conflict. The sense that gets them nowhere, painful memories of iraq. In the end, mrtrump will painful memories of iraq. In the end, mr trump will perhaps or perhaps not be listening to both sides. And, as he would say, making his own mind up. Thousands of Anti Government protesters have again taken to the streets of hong kong. Theyre protesting against a proposed controversial law change which would allow the extradition of citizens to the chinese mainland. Demonstrators walked through a popular tourist area of hong kong to a train station which links the former british colony to the chinese mainland. Our correspondent robin brant is in hong kong, and gave us this update. This was all about that proposed extradition built, highly contentious because people in hong kong thought the beijing government could use it as a tool of political persecution. The movement has now become a bit lots more, are but universal suffrage, it has become about the type of democracy they have in hong kong. Like i said, for now, this demonstration was a peaceful one and the protesters we spoke to were very keen it should remain so. The police urge them to be rational because we saw something far more violent when the Legislative Council was stormed and occupied on monday. We had 250,000 people on the streets according to protesters. The police are now in the process of trying to clear the streets. I do want to stress we have not seen any violence and i have not seen anything but from what ive seen anything but from what ive seen weve not seen any criminal damage and there are plenty of shops around here. Beijing will be watching these images coming out of hong kong, for how much longer are they likely to tolerate this . I think two things are going on. The police are investigating the events of last monday, there was some violence then. Some people have been arrested and they will continue to try and go after the ringleaders. For the protesters, they want to maintain the momentum, they want more maintain the momentum, they want m o re eve nts maintain the momentum, they want more events like today and they could become weekly events. Beijing broadly really fear civil disobedience like this spilling over. It talks about taiwan, hong kongin over. It talks about taiwan, hong kong ina over. It talks about taiwan, hong kong in a way as always been internal affairs but they really fear a contagion, the fewer people on the mainland getting a sense of whats gone on here and wondering if they themselves are able to use that kind of pressure to push for some reforms they may want on the mainland. Jodrell Bank Observatory in cheshire has been awarded unesco World Heritage status. Its home to the lovell telescope which has probing into the depths of space since 1957. The organisation says it embodies the value unesco places on the universality of science, and its ability to build International Collaboration and foster peace. Scientific Research Began atJodrell Bank Observatory in 1945 when the physicist sir Bernard Lovell came to the university of manchester. The lovell telescope, which was the Worlds Largest telescope when it was completed in 1957, is now the third largest. Jodrell bank was on standby as the uks Early Warning system against any potential Nuclear Attack during the 1962 cuban missile crisis. It tracked the first spacecraft to make a soft landing on the moon in 1966, printing this first picture from the lunar surface. From 1967 it also tracked us and russian crafts during the space race. And then in 1969, tracked the eagle lander onto the surface of the moon. Today the sites new accolade marks the end of a decade long bid to gain World Heritage status, following a 2010 application to be included on the uks nominations shortlist. Quite an historical pedigree, what does this mean for the site . They are delighted, it has been a long process, nearly ten years in the making. You have to do a detailed technical application to the government to make sure that is correct, the government sent it to unesco and finally the announcement thatjodrell bank unesco and finally the announcement that jodrell bank now has World Heritage status, take it alongside the giants causeway, the city of bath, liverpool waterfront, the lake district. The difference with the jodrell bank is has been recognised not only for its historic and heritage science but also for the ongoing science, which is something the people who are very pleased about, it is a fear that unique recognition, the only similar place in the uk with the World Heritage badge is kew gardens in london. Sir Bernard Lovell started things here in 1945 Bernard Lovell started things here in1945 and Bernard Lovell started things here in 1945 and the telescope bears his name. He was the pioneer of exploring space with radio waves and notjust the visible exploring space with radio waves and not just the visible light. Exploring space with radio waves and notjust the visible light. The news has spread throughout the astronomical community, professor brian cox said it is superb news. Unesco sate the honour is to honour jodrell bank and their role in transforming our understanding of the universe. Im looking behind you, why was that site cheshire chosen . This is in deepest, darkest rural cheshire, not many radio waves here which would interfere with the radio waves from the telescope and another one here they are trying to get from space. Mobile phones are normally banned here and the wreck is so powerful that powerful that if that where a mobile phone signal coming from mars the telescopes you would pick it up. This is notjust about the heritage, the science continues. This is about ongoing science. Let me give you an example. There is a thing called the square kilometre array. Imagine eight square kilometre of Radio Telescope dishes all pointing at the same part of the sky. One square kilometre. They are spread out in the Southern Hemisphere but one that comes online all the data that will come here. The science very much ongoing. Thank you. Now its time for a look at the weather with nick miller. Hello, most of us have been enjoying a fine sunday. There are weather changes on the way, in the week ahead. That might be good news if you want a bit of rain on the garden. There will be some rain at times this week. High pressure in control, but there are weather fronts gathering in the atlantic. This area of High Pressure is going to be squeezed away southwards along with the settled weather. Lets look at the satellite picture. You can see a lot of land showing up. Not a huge amount of cloud out there. An area of cloud towards the far south east did produce outbreaks of rain as we started sunday, but it has been brightening up for many through the afternoon. One or two showers around. Any of those are fading as we go into the evening. Largely clear skies. Temperatures are going to dip away overnight. Quite widely in the countryside in single figures, close to freezing in northern and eastern scotland, where there might be a brief touch of frost as we are going to monday morning. The cloud increasing to the west. We talked about atlantic weather systems coming our way. For Northern Ireland, cloud moving in. Some outbreaks of rain. Cloud increasing elsewhere to the west, and might produce drizzle, especially on coasts and hills later in the day. For the south and east, isolated showers. For most it is going to be a dry monday and temperatures in the high teens or low 20s. Pretty much where they are going to stay for much of the weekend. That is fairly close to average. As for wimbledon, well, it is going to be pleasant temperatures for playing tennis as we start the week. Just into the low 20s. It might get a little bit warmer as we go through the week, but not by much. Its looking mainly dry with outbreaks of cloud and a few sunny spells to be had. Remember the area of High Pressure being squeezed to the south . That is the situation on tuesday. This weather front is taking some outbreaks of rain from Northern Ireland, across scotland, parts of northern england, north wales, towards lincolnshire, norfolk. South of that, High Pressure clinging on. More cloud around. Some sunny spells to be had, temperatures in the low 20s, whereas we are in the mid teens in northern scotland with outbreaks of rain. Still some outbreaks of rain on wednesday, thursday and friday. It is looking like showers, but some of those could be heavy and thundery. A range of temperatures across the uk. The mid teens for northern scotland, mid 20s for some in northern england. Decidedly mixed. There will be some occasional pleasant sunshine. Some opportunities for getting wet. Temperatures fairly close to average for this stage ofjuly. The Foreign Office orders an inquiry, after what it calls a disgraceful leak of memos, criticising the trump administation. The emails, written by the British Ambassador to washington, call the president S White House inept, insecure and incompetent. Exit polls suggest greece has elected a new centre right government, ousting the leftist syriza party in a snap election. Deutsche Bank Confirms plans to cut up to 18,000 jobs worldwide. Thousands of workers are based here in the uk. And at the womens world cup, the United States prove too strong for the netherlands, retaining their title in france. Good evening. The Foreign Office has begun an investigation into who leaked emails from britains ambassador to washington, which described the Trump Administration as being inept and uniquely dysfunctional. In the memos, obtained by the mail on sunday, Sir Kim Darroch says despite his shortcomings, President Trump shouldnt be written off. Heres our washington correspondent, nick bryant. Inept, insecure, incompetent. In secret cables obtained by the mail on sunday, britains top diplomat in washington, Sir Kim Darroch, used the most undiplomatic of language to describe the chaos of the Trump White House and the personality flaws of the president himself. He spoke of donald trump radiating insecurity and delivered a withering assessment of an administration that was uniquely dysfunctional. In one of the messages sir kim wrote, we dont really believe this administration is going to become substantially more normal, less dysfunctional, less unpredictable, less faction riven, less diplomatically clumsy and inept. On his recent state visit to britain, donald trump had been dazzled by the queen, he wrote, but, sir kim predicted, this is still the land of america first. On the escalation of tensions with iran, he said it was unlikely that us policy was going to become more coherent anytime soon, and that mr trump did not want to reverse his Campaign Promise to us involvement in foreign conflict. To avoid us involvement in foreign conflict. The leaks have reverberated through westminster. Its obviously very disappointing this correspondence has come out into the open but its also important to say it is the job of ambassadors to give frank personal opinions about what is happening in the countries they serve, and those arejust personal the countries they serve, and those are just personal opinion is. Its not the opinions of the british government. In a statement the Foreign Office said it would not have any long term impact. Our team in washington have strong relations with the white house and no doubt these will withstand such mischievous behaviour. I dont think it will affect the special relationship. Theres too much important work that we do together on a daily basis to be derailed by this type of leak. Its an irritant, no doubt, but its not enough, i think, its an irritant, no doubt. On the question of Donald Trumps re election hopes, sir kim said a second term could not be ruled out. Trump may emerge from the flames battered but intact, he said, like schwarzenegger in the final scenes of the terminator. With a brexit deadline looming, downing street has been especially sensitive about preserving and protecting the special relationship. The leak of these secret cables doesnt help. Nick bryant, bbc news, washington. Exit polls suggest greece has elected a new centre right government following a snap election, called by the leftist prime minster, Alexis Tsipras. Voting ended just over an hour ago, with Mr Tsipras Syriza Party seemingly paying the price for failing to oppose austerity measures imposed by the eu in return for financial bailouts. From athens, heres mark lowen. It looks like a changing of the guard in greece. Exit polls predicting a huge victory for the centre right new democracy. If confirmed, its leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis would have an outright majority, crushing the governing syriza party and ousting Alexis Tsipras. The rhetoric has been relentlessly anti european and misleading in many ways. So im very happy. This is a victory for pro european political forces. Happy. This is a victory for proeuropean politicalforces. This country doesnt need celebrations for a party that wins an election. This country needs jobs. For a party that wins an election. This country needsjobs. This country needs investments. Four yea rs country needs investments. Four years ago, new democracy was seen as the corrupt old guard here, swept from power by the leftist populism of Alexis Tsipras. But as he broke promises to end austerity, grease it seems has swung back to the political mainstream, punishing those who vowed to stand up to europe but failed. Alexis tsipras supporters expected the worst. He lost many after his humiliating u turn in 2015 when he pledged to rip up the bailout and budget cuts but instead accepted a third rescue programme in return for more austerity confirming the brussels establishment he had railed against. The worst peacetime recession of any country shrank greece ass economy bya country shrank greece ass economy by a quarter. Half a Million People left the country arent unemployment hit 28 . As Alexis Tsipras defied the eu, he threatened to reject greece from the euro and sink the banks. He was forced back. As greece voted for the sixth time in decades, new democracy presented itself as change. The crisis has cost many greeks their livelihoods, and now another prime minister, his career. This tired nation now looks to its post bailout, post Alexis Tsipras future. Growth is returning tourists too. It seems greece has turned a corner and left its populist era behind. You might remember that before brexit there was talk of a greek departure from the eurozone. That never happened because Alexis Tsipras was defeated by the eu. Perhaps an omen for another eu member currently trying to stand up to brussels. And maybe others from britain to the us flirting with populism will look to greece tonight and see that sometimes the political pendulum swings back to the establishment. Mark lowen live in athens, thank you. Thousands of staff at Deutsche Bank are worried about theirjobs, after confirmation that up to 18,000 posts world wide are to be cut. The bank employs thousands of people in the city of london, and our Business Correspondent katy austin is there for us tonight. Any idea where these cuts are coming . On a fairly long list of long term problems the german bank had been facing were a falling share price and Money Laundering scandals. It had been widely expected to cut back its underperforming investment operations and to date has announced a radical reshaping plan which will see it significantly reduce its Investment Banking arm, stopping many of its Share Trading operations. Along the way, 18,000 jobs will go as a result globally. That will be by 2022. It hasnt pinpointed exactly where in the world the axe will fall, but Deutsche Bank employs 8000 people nearly across the uk and due to the nature and activities it has in the city of london, people are expecting london to take a fairly heavy hit from those job losses. Not all a nalysts from those job losses. Not all Analysts Expect this move will solve all of Deutsche Banks problems, but they say it has had little choice but to do something fairly radical, as it has struggled to compete against the dominant american Investment Banking giants. Katy austin in the city, thank you. Iran says it will once again breach the terms of an International Agreement, designed to curb the countrys development of nuclear weapons. The governmment in tehran has confirmed its planning to enrich its stockpile of uranium beyond levels allowed in a deal signed in 2015. Last week iran said it was stockpiling more low enriched uranium than permitted under the accord. America pulled out of the International Agreement last year. Our Diplomatic Correspondent paul adams is here. What is likely to be the response from the International Community . Everyone has known this was coming. As you say, this was the second of two threatened actions by the iranian government, so it is no surprise. The Foreign Office says the uk remains fully committed to the uk remains fully committed to the deal and also adds in a Statement Today that iran Must Immediately stop and reverse all activities in consistent with its obligations. We have heard similar comments also from eu members today. As for the United States, of course, as you say, they pulled out of the deal a year ago saying it was a very bad deal. They may be hoping that as time goes on, the european backers of the deal, britain and france and germany, start to see things through american eyes and start to put pressure on iran to do a new deal that includes other aspects, not just Irans Nuclear behaviour, its Ballistic Missiles and regional behaviour and so forth. No sign of that happening so far but that may be what the Trump Administration ultimately wants. This is kind of death by a thousand cuts for the iran nuclear deal. As far as iran and the eu are concerned, nobody actually wants to be seen to be the person responsible for blowing it up. Its pass the parcel in hopes that the music, ratherfaint, does continue for a bit. Paul adams, thank you. The shadow chancellor, John Mcdonnell, says labour should come out and support a second referendum, and hed campaign to remain in the european union. Mr mcdonnell is pressing the leader Jeremy Corbyn to get on with making the decision to support another public vote. Its believed labour lost support to both the liberal democrats and the brexit party in the recent european elections, because of confusion over its position on brexit. Heres our political correspondent, ben wright. Theyve been comrades for years, but nowJohn Mcdonnell says theyve been comrades for years, but now John Mcdonnell says its theyve been comrades for years, but nowJohn Mcdonnell says its time forJeremy Corbyn to quickly and decisively commit labour to another referendum and then campaign for remain. We need to express a view now which is clearly. As ive said, i will vote remain and i want to campaignfor said, i will vote remain and i want to campaign for remain. Whatjeremy is rightfully doing, and this is one of the differences between us, i just say lets get on with it but jeremy is much wiser, actually, saying, lets talk to people and bring them to go down and build consensus and i go for it. Echoing several other shadow cabinet members, John Mcdonnell said labour had to clarify its position on brexit in time for a possible september election. So is all this aggravation causing civil war at the top of the party . Oh no. It is myth, its rubbish and. You havent been froze n its rubbish and. You havent been frozen out a bit . Not at all. Jeremy andi frozen out a bit . Not at all. Jeremy and i go back 40 years. We are the closest friends. But while much of the labour membership wants another referendum, there is also strong resistance. Last month 26 labour mps in leave backing the seat wrote a letter to Jeremy Corbyn saying another public vote would be toxic and urged him to back a brexit deal instead. With pressure growing on Jeremy Corbyn to clearly back another referendum, tomorrow trade Union Leaders are expected to meet to discuss their stand on the issue. But its not only brexit causing turmoil within the labour party, and this week the partys handling of anti semitism allegations will again be under scrutiny. A panorama investigation will air on wednesday. The bbc has not released details of the programme, but on twitter the labour Deputy Tom Watson said newspaper reports saying that x Party Staffers had warned people not to break confidentiality agreements was futile and stupid. It is a very partial view from a few members of staff that have a political axe to grind. The bbc said labour was criticising a programme it hasnt seen and that the party has been given the opportunity to respond to the allegations in it. The divisions caused by labours response to anti semitism seem unlikely to heal soon. Ben wright, bbc news. With all the sport now, heres olly foster at the bbc sport centre. Good evening. The usa have won the womens world cup for a fourth time. They secured back to back titles after overpowering the netherlands. The dutch had their goalkeeper to thank that it was only 2 0. From lyon, heres our Sports Correspondent katie gornall. Lyon, a city at the confluence of the rhone and the sone, a place where two rivers become one and where two rivers become one and where from two finalists will emerge one champion. The odds point towards aus one champion. The odds point towards a us celebration of the stop no country has won more than them. While the netherlands fans were enjoying a World Cup Final for the first time. The usa expected to be here. Their confidence is almost concrete. But the underdogs were not overwhelmed and achieved something no team has managed yet at this world cup, they stopped the us from scoring in the first 12 minutes. The american tide kept coming but the netherlands kept finding new ways to turnit netherlands kept finding new ways to turn it back. Sari Van Veenendaal again at her best. The european champions had absorbed so much pressure, eventually they would crack. Var was called upon to spot this high foot. Penalty was the decision and up stepped Megan Rapinoe. Shoots, scores. The us captain, as she has done all tournament, seizing the spotlight will that for every established star, the us has another emerging. And scores rose lavelle has been a walking highlight reel in france and here was another for the collection. 20 here was another for the collection. 2 0 and it could have been more. The netherlands have risen rapidly on the world stage but it seems no one can stop the record breaking march of the usa. They have retained their title and lifted the womens world cup for title and lifted the womens world cupfora title and lifted the womens world cup for a fourth time. Winners come and go in sport, but true champions a lwa ys and go in sport, but true champions always wa nt and go in sport, but true champions always want more. The usa have been champions in every sense with Megan Rapinoe winning the golden boot and the golden ball award for the tournaments best player. The us have had to do this the hard way, overcoming hosts france, england and european champions the netherlands on their way to lifting the trophy. This was meant to be the most open world cup yet where us dominance would be threatened, but nobody has been able to knock the americans off their perch. Katie gornall, live in lyon, thank you. England have lost again in the womens ashes, chasing an improbable 270 runs to beat australia in the third one dayer at canterbury. They were bowled out for just 75. Elysse perry took seven wickets. England must now win the one off test match starting onjuly 18th to keep the series alive. Stage two at the Tour De France was a Team Time Trial in brussels. Thats it for now. Ill be back with the news at ten. Now on bbc one, time for the news where you are. Tom tugendhat. Hello. This is bbc news. Lets return to one of our main stories this hour. The Foreign Office has told iran it Must Immediately stop all activities that breach the nuclear deal agreed with World Leaders in 2015. A little earlier my colleague discussed irans latest breach of the deal with the conservative mp and chair of the Commons Foreign Affairs committee, tom tugendhat. They have got a very clear choice, which is to decide whether or not they think there is a valid way out of this problem that includes around becoming a normal responsible nation with trading partnerships around the world. If they do think that has an option, and i think it is, then they need to start behaving as though they are that kind of regime. That means not attempting to develop nuclear weapons, not sponsoring terrorism, not trying to murder hundreds of thousands of people in syria, not trying to kill lots of israeli civilians, not trying to attack saudi arabia, add not trying to undermine countries like bahrain and the persian gulf. There is a lot of things that the iranian government needs to think seriously about. If this agreement is going to stand. Those would be good places to start. So you are agreeing with the us administrations policy towards iran . No, im not, iam really highlighting the trouble in this relationship is not because the us has withdrawn from the joint plan of action, as the agreement is called, but because the iranian government has consistently violated all International Norms over the last, i was going to say for years, but it is the last 40, in sponsoring terrorism, seeking to undermine neighbours, seeking to murder individuals around the world, lets not forget seeking to murder 20 of its own citizens as well, it is one of the largest executors of citizens in the world, second only, i believe, to china. Iran is highly unlikely to bow under this sort of pressure, especially us pressure, so how is this all likely to play out . When you look at the form, they dig their heels in deeper. You have got an absolute point. The idea that one talks about iran as a single state is not true. There are several different factions in iran, not least there is the supreme leader, the religious aristocracy, then there is the government and perhaps most importantly there is the revolutionary guard. They control and run a large swathes of the economy, and an entirely separate military system to the iranian government, and all the groups run different aspects of life and run them very differently. While we are watching these factions fighting it out inside of the islamic republic, what we are also seeing, tragically, is food getting more expensive, childrens milk running out, medicine running out, and this is because of the decisions that the iranian government, in its various forms, sometimes the revolutionary guard, sometimes the government, sometimes the supreme leader, have taken that are really just punishing one of the greatest and most impressive people in the world. The day that iran can come back and take its rightful place as one of the great nations of the world will be a great moment for the whole world. Tom tugendhat.
