A half hour firework display. A half hourfirework display. It will be to show ill be lifetime said the president. His decision to speak ina said the president. His decision to speak in a few hours time from the Lincoln Memorial has drawn much criticism, 500 of the 15,000 tickets have gone to vips and the president big donors but its not so much the cost of descendents, thats bothering his opponent is a wider concern at the president will use what is a National Celebration to promote himself and attacked them. think the president needs to understand this is americas birthday, not his. This business of the money and military assets to use them asa the money and military assets to use them as a prop, to prop up a president ial ego is not reflecting well on our country. Every time the president has our country looking like the chest thumping loudmouth at the end of the bar it makes us all look smaller. 0ur the end of the bar it makes us all look smaller. Our country is bigger than that. Speaking just the other day with me is ron christie, former adviser to president george w. Bush, ican hearyou. Adviser to president george w. Bush, i can hearyou. Mike adviser to president george w. Bush, i can hear you. Mike you can hear me, ithink i can hear you. Mike you can hear me, i think we have sorted out our technical problems. We could all hear each other. We are the to go. Some of the Service Chiefs have expressed reservations about this because they are put in the middle ofa because they are put in the middle of a political fight just to highlight what we are talking about, here is a late night post on fox news. Military chiefs are concerned about the celebrations. It underlines there is nothing in america that is not political. Underlines there is nothing in america that is not politicalm 243 america that is not politicalm 2113 years america that is not politicalm 2113 yea rs into america that is not politicalm 2113 years into our independence, you would think americans would take a step back and say this is a day for celebration, this is a day when we look back in our history. Instead, it isa look back in our history. Instead, it is a participant, but outdated. Partisans on it is a participant, but outdated. Pa rtisa ns on either it is a participant, but outdated. Partisans on either side of the divide are getting on the fence and saying, the heck with you and your i think the tweet exemplifies that position. Who is driving that partisan divide . Naturally, as we just saw from Kamala Harris and pete buttigieg, they are using this to score political points as much as the president s supporters are . Matthew, good evening to you on this Independence Day. Your point is well taken. Look at what you saw one of the front runners said. He is talking about the president s eagle and and talking about the president oii and and talking about the president on personal terms. You would think oii on personal terms. You would think on this important day we can reflect oii on this important day we can reflect on why we are americans. Why is it so on why we are americans. Why is it so unique to be americans, on this day of all the days of the year, and givena day of all the days of the year, and given a toxic nature of politics, with the money involved and Many Democrats who are still so upset with donald trump is my collection to become president , that this is where we are. Just a quick note on that. It will depends on what he says today. If he goes off on a tangent and states attacking people in front of the link in memorial, they will be justified in what they said. Many editorials have noted that very point. Is this going to be about trumps eagle today are a historical reflection on who we are asa historical reflection on who we are as a country. The president has a thin needle to thread here. Will he find a way to unify americans, regardless of their politics, will he use this as a part is into an mechanism to rally the base and anger about half of the country . 0k, we will watch closely. Speeches are in about three hours time. So most americans will be taking the day off today. But not department ofjustice attorney, josh gardener. Mr gardner who was on holiday, away from washington, took a call yesterday from a federal judge who was following the president s twitter account. And this is the tweet that puzzled them. Trouble is the department of commerce has already started printing the census without the question. Because last week the Supreme Court ruled the administrations reasons for including it were specious. Not well reasoned. So when the judge got the department ofjustice lawyer on the phone yesterday here is how it went. Justice department lawyerjosh gardner then responded the census question is preferable to oui the census question is preferable to our uk audience, but it is how the strategy unfolds and what people do about it. People do not understand from day to day what the president s thinking is and this is an important transcript of how it happens. Battling, if i was the ceo or founder of twitter, i would be happy to recognise that domestic policy is formed on his platform. The issue is a serious one. Every ten years, we have to have an accurate accounting of how many people are in the United States. I see the term people, because that is very important. Republicans look at this and say, if you are here undocumented, you should not count in the census. Why is that important . The important thing here is how we apportion our congressional districts. Democrats we nt congressional districts. Democrats went all the number of people legal and undocumented to be counted because they believe it will give them, candidly, a legend point against republicans. A Justice Department attorney, who does not have jurisdiction because the commerce have jurisdiction because the Commerce Department regulates and controls the senses, and you find a bantering back controls the senses, and you find a ba ntering back and controls the senses, and you find a bantering back and forth with a federal judge. Bantering back and forth with a federaljudge. I do not know how this is going to end. Some say the Supreme Court heard last week to rule on this, others say we have until october. This is a story that is how it is going to unfold. He is going to be busy today, he will not get his 11th ofjuly, that is for sure. It will not surpise you that the Democratic Candidates for 2020 will not be at the salute to america here in washington, instead most will be campaigning out in iowa. And theres a lot of them joining us now is the columnist at the des moines register, rekha basu. Good afternoon, good evening to you. Thank you forjoining us here. Iowa is going to be the first state to caucus. It is going to therefore set the tone of the democratic president ial race. Is there any early sign of what that tone will be . Actually, i think that are you are pretty closely mirrors what is happening in the national scale, as faras happening in the national scale, as far as pulling. Vice president joe biden, former Vice President , far as pulling. Vice president joe biden, formerVice President , was bleeding heavily in the beginning when he first announced. He was 35 points up. He was leading. That is now down to 22 . Kamala harris coming off of her rather effective swipe at joe biden coming off of her rather effective swipe atjoe biden has been rising in the polls from a flat 6 to now 16 . She is in second place. Ithink that, like the rest of the country, as these debates are happening and people are getting more of a chance to focus on who these people are and how they interact and how they, as harris would call it, prosecute the case against donald trump, things are starting to settle. Does it already look as if that field is getting whittled away, even if candidates are not dropping out yet . It does. There are 24 candidates in this race and some have failed to get any traction. Some are stuck at 102 in the polls. They havent done anything that is likely to change that. Stuck at 1 . When you talk to caucus voters in iowa, and this is something you hear nationally, the progressive wing says they are looking for a new energy, new blood, and not in the vernacular, another old man to run against President Trump. In part, that is not really so trump. In part, that is not really so much about identity politics are discriminating against a demographic group, but rather there discriminating against a demographic group, but ratherthere is discriminating against a demographic group, but rather there is such a sense of outrage against some of the things that trump has done with regards to caging children and banning muslims and so on. There is a sense that what it is going to ta ke a sense that what it is going to take is someone who gets this risk really and feels the anger and can make the case against him effectively. Iowa is one of the wider states you can find. The population is less than 5 or so. It is interesting that a lot of people who are saying that i actually white men in the middle to older age. They are seeing really energy is and where the momentum with voters are and they think that is needed, a new voice and a way to galvanise people to turn out to vote, energise young voters, people of colour, who have not voted before because they did not voted before because they did not think there is much in it for them and now they have a substantial range of choices. We all know that iowa gets a disproportionate amount of attention in the election cycle but it is reciprocated by the people. We have seen that today, they are all out today. Democrats descend en masse. They get very much involved in it. They really do. That is one of the things that make iowa attractive as a place to campaign. It is so small. People get a chance to see candidates up close. Yesterday i was at the westie mines picnic and parade for the democrats in the park. It was sweltering. People were out there in droves, waving flags, eating hamburgers and listening to the two president ial candidates who spoke at that. Kamala harris and pete buttigieg. They really had the audience engaged. It was a great way to interact with people and pose for pictures. That is what gives iowa at this real detailed sense of politics. By the end of the election, everybody will have had the opportunity across the state to have seen every candidate at least twice. I do not know what 24 candidates this time, i am not sure if there is an interest in hearing every one of them. This is a politically engaged and civil minded state. A lot of people say they want to hear every single one in person. And they can. Thank you very much for your thoughts today. I hope the parades are going well in iowa. I hope the weather stays fine for them. I was looking at the Weather Forecast for washington and it is not going to be very good. There are thunderstorms on the way. Trump is due to speak in three hours time. If mayweather check is correct, the weather might go bad at the time. I went tojohns weather might go bad at the time. I went to johns house the weather might go bad at the time. I went tojohns house the other night ina went tojohns house the other night in a thunderstorm and i was drenched from the car to the door in seconds. These downpours i saw heavy when they come, it is thunderstorm season, and it will wipe out the parade. Surely he willjust drain the swamp. If he reigns on your parade, yes, we will know about it. Indeed, indeed. Well, if how the 4th ofjuly is being celebrated in washington is being seen as a political statement by some, where it is being celebrated in israel is just as controvertial. For the first time, the us embassy to israel has held its 4th ofjuly party in jerusalem after President Trump recognised the city as israels capital in a departure from long Time International policy. Palestinians and left wing israelis have criticised recent actions by the Us Ambassador in eastjerusalem which the palestinians want as the capital of their hoped for future state. Yolande knell is in jerusalem. Off with a bang. As the us embassy gets fired up for Independence Day, its close relations with israels right wing government is on display. It is wonderful to have the greatest power on earth not opposing the jewish state but supporting it. For these people, it really adds to the celebrations, taking place in jerusalem for the first time. Most israelis were delighted when the us moved its embassy to hear it last year. But palestinians were furious, saying their claims to the city were overlooked. And other changes have worried them since. Up for discussion at this gathering, washingtons latest efforts to broker a peace deal. We might get there if people stop pretending settlements, or what i like to call neighbourhoods and cities, i the reason for the lack of peace. Settle m e nts reason for the lack of peace. Settlements are seen as illegal under international law, although israeli authorities disagree. Left wing israelis worry about the us. This is the most delicate place of our conflict. You cannot come with sledgehammers and say, this is as real sovereignty. You should come with tweezers and settle this place ina way with tweezers and settle this place in a way that respects every person. Israel sovereignty. In a way that respects every person. Israel sovereignty. In new archaeological site was opened here under palestinian homes. While this White House Team is seen as pro israel, some see as losing its credibility as a peace broker with the palestinians, it could ultimately harm israels interests. You canjust imagine how those images will be seen on the opposite side in east jerusalem. The is really. Each tweet has been sent. Have a look. It looks to me one of those facebook videos that you put together yourself and not one you would expect to be put together by a government. That re emphasises the people just how special this relationship is at the moment. People just how special this relationship is at the momentm really does. When i saw that today, i was best out there for the bbc, andi i was best out there for the bbc, and i remember a conversation i had with a representative and they were talking about George W Bush he was then the president of the United States and they were saying, he is no friend of ours, for the palestinians, but when he gets replaced by a democrat, which is sure to happen and it might be barack 0bama or clinton, and when that happens it will be a different ride, a different story altogether. He could not possibly have imagined how much the us is and israel relationship would strengthen. You cannot just see that relationship would strengthen. You cannotjust see that in the video, but of the shots of the Us Ambassador bashing through that tunnel through jerusalem. Just how remarkable how strong that bond is at the moment. If you want to know how the palestinians are feeling, look how many turned out to the plan to piece that jared look how many turned out to the plan to piece thatJared Kushner set look how many turned out to the plan to piece that Jared Kushner set up look how many turned out to the plan to piece thatJared Kushner set up a couple of weeks ago. Well, when hes not at a hustings trying to become the next Prime Minister, jeremy hunt is also trying to carry out his dayjob but the foreign secretary waded into tricky waters when he warned china that it could face serious consequences over its treatment of protesters in hong kong. Jeremy hunt has said it would be a very serious matter if the uks 1984 agreement with china over hong kong were to be breached. When it was signed, britain and china agreed that hong kong should retain some autonomy and freedom. This meant that after the handover in 1997, hong kong would exist under a so called one country, two systems policy britian believes that the arrangement lasts until 2047. But china says its now just an historical document. Victor gao is Vice President of centerfor china and globalization in beijing. When i talked to him ealier i asked him whether there was anything that britain could do that china might be worry about . Anything that britain does to undermine the interest of china, and the uk friendship and cooperation will be a bad thing. It will not be in chinas interest but it will be against the fundamental interest of the british people. I hope the foreign secretary will really know what hes talking secondly, for uk to threaten bad consequences get china, i think he is over estimating the might of britain against china. China is a great country in the world, chinas economy is much, much larger than the United Kingdom and a major force to be reckoned with on the global stage. I hope britain will deal with china with dignity and decency and equality, rather than threatening china with bad consequences. I wonder whether the balance of trade which come into it at all. China exports some 55 billion worth of goods and services to the United States every year. United kingdom. Would britain be able to use that as leverage or is that not such an important amount for the chinese economy . that not such an important amount for the chinese economy . I think between china and the United Kingdom, the better ways to deal with each other with respect, to understand each others situation and to refrain from interfering in each others Domestic Affairs. China now has full sovereignty over hong kong and no foreign country has a right to interfere in the Domestic Affairs in hong kong, or in the relations between Mainland China and hong kong. So the foreign secretary should know the reality is on the ground, the reality on the ground. Rather than position uk as it has a big say on the internal affairs of hong kong. That is really farfrom the realities on the ground. A few miles from here, in south west london, a fairy tale is playing out. 15 year old cori gauff is through to the third round of the wimbledon tennis championships and she will now be joined by her fellow american lauren davis, who is also shaking up the womens draw, knocking out defending champion angelique kerber. And in the mens game theres a grudge match under way on centre court beetween rafael nadal and the unpredictable aussie nick kyrgios. 0ur Sports Correspondent holly hamilton is at wimbledon. Hello, looks very nice there where you are. Tell us about tennis today. Lets start with roger federer. You are. Tell us about tennis today. Lets start with roger federer. Yes, he is through. I do not think we had any concerns about him whatsoever. He was playing the british wild card. He went through in straight sets. The big talking point is on one of his big rivals, no doubt. This is the grudge match we have been looking forward to. These two have a bit of history, dont they . They first met here at wimbledon five years ago, that was when nick kerry asked ever the showman. He managed to beat nadal on that occasion. The first person to do that since 1992. That did not go down well with nadal. Since then, there has been a war of words. Nadal accused him of being a sore loser after losing to him in al couple caught. The australian described him as being a little bit salty, which brought that word to us for the first time. This is the seventh time these two have met. It is three three currently. Spikes have been flying on court. Nick was swearing at the umpire, complaining how long it was taking part nadal to ta ke how long it was taking part nadal to take us over. Nadal has taken the first set. Nick took the second set. Nadal took the third set. Now the neckis nadal took the third set. Now the neck is leading for three. We could be here for some time. Can i ask about cori gauff . How much is he the top of wimbledon right now . Completely, we cannot stop talking about her. This 15 year old cori gauff hasjust about her. This 15 year old cori gauff has just been the talk of wimbledon, ever since on monday when she beat williams, her idol, someone she beat williams, her idol, someone she said it would be a dream to share a court with her. How good would it be to go one better than that . She did, winning her second match last night. What was really interesting was watching the crowd, they were very much on her side. Shearing for every single move. She had talked about her motto to wing it. Idid had talked about her motto to wing it. I did not look like it last night. She looked very composed, very confident, well beyond her 15 years. I think the thought now is what could happen next . How far can she go in the tournament . Her next opponent has never got past the third round and she did say she does not care who is on the other side of the court from her, she can beat anyone. She looks incredibly confident. Holly, thank you so much. Ido confident. Holly, thank you so much. I do not know if you saw that match but she was just astonishing. Fabulous. A sensation in the side, i can tell you. This is beyond 100 days from the bbc. Coming up for viewers on the bbc news channel and bbc world news tanks roll down the streets of the Nations Capital but dont panic theyre here for President Trumps july 4th celebrations. And another day on the campaign trail. Borisjohnson and another day on the campaign trail. Boris johnson and jeremy and another day on the campaign trail. Borisjohnson and jeremy hunt have been up north making their pitch to conservative party members. We are going to be speaking to two of them to hear their thoughts. That is going to come. Good evening. Another day of north and south contrasts. Blue skies overhead in the south. It encouraged people onto the beach here. Grey skies, rain and a cool breeze to the north. That kept people away from the beach in aberdeenshire. Gaps in the beach in aberdeenshire. Gaps in the rain to the east. The rain will ease for a time. In north westerly breeze. Cloud in Northern Ireland. A bit of high cloud in the skies above central and southern england and wales. It all adds up to things not being as chilly as recent nights. Temperatures up to 15 celsius tomorrow. Hes was the chance of one or two showers drifting through. More rain across the north of scotland. Even that will be on the move. Driest conditions will remain across southern areas. Blue skies ahead. Temperatures into mid 20s. 20 celsius possible across the south east corner. Sunshine will lift the temperatures, especially in the north to north west breeze. Rain in the highlands. Some eastern parts of scotla nd in the highlands. Some eastern parts of scotland feeling a tad warmer. Sunshine to end the day across the North West Highlands and the hebrides. Went through into saturday, behind this is where the front. This will produce showers here and there into england and wales and will cause temperatures to drop across southern areas as we go through saturday, too. Here is our weather front. I left that on the out so you can see the rough area of the spots and drizzle. It could be the spots and drizzle. It could be the first spots of rain at wimbledon. Staying dry here. After that sunshine, some towards north west counties. Some sunny spells for the afternoon. A cool east coast. My present in the west. After a cool night, with temperatures down to single figures. If you showers in Northern Ireland. Some showersjust if you showers in Northern Ireland. Some showers just about possible. Most areas are pleasant when you get the centring. Make when you get this is beyond one hundred days with me Christian Fraser in washington, Matthew Price is in london. Our top stories the commander in chief is going big for the fourth ofjuly. Salute to america is being held at the Lincoln Memorial, the backdrop for the president s speech. The ballot papers are on their way to conservative party members, as they make final decision, will it be borisjohnson orjeremy hunt as the next british Prime Minister . Coming up in the next half hour taking its money out of fossil fuel investments, the biggest convervation charity in europe decides it will turn that money green. And nearly seven decades on from its first issue, the much loved satire publication mad magazine will disappear from newsstands after august. The biggest Conservation Charity in europe, Britains National trust, has Just Announced it will sell off the shares it holds in fossil fuel companies. The National Trust says its time to invest in companies that are looking to deliver environmental benefits as well as financial returns. It doesnt have Large Holdings in fossil fuel based companies, but it certainly follows a trend. Just last month, the Norwegian Parliament approved plans for the countrys Sovereign Wealth Fund to sell coal and Oil Investments and switch to invest in Renewable Energy projects instead. Thats a 1 trillion fund. Before coming on air we spoke with Peter Vermeulen from the National Trust about their decision. We have always looked at the Environmental Performance of our investment portfolio, thats why you will find that the Carbon Footprint of our portfolio is already a third lower than the market index and we for a long time have been screening against the worst polluting companies. What we have been mounting 2019 is are saying the yea rs on mounting 2019 is are saying the years on from the paris claim in court, three years on from when the world said we need to take urgent action, we dont believe oil and gas has done sufficiently yet. For that reason we are divesting from that set there and we have announced will be putting £25 million into a new and growing businesses that both that of a financial returns but also very specifically one of seven environmental benefits as well. We believe that works really well for a Conservation Charity. Obviously, conservationists and environmentalists and others will welcome what you are doing but they read again asked the question why now in other words, why is it taking quite so long . We always want to give people the opportunity to transform their business models, one does not make these kind of changes overnight. We understand that at the National Trust we have made changes in ourselves as well and phyllis had not happened overnight. For example we set ourselves a target of generating 50 of our energy from renewable sallust so i say so. We are renewable sallust so i say so. We a re close renewable sallust so i say so. We are close to achieving that but its taken several years to get there. Similarly we are open for oil and gas company to take some time to make a transition. But now youre calling time on that and we are not enough has been done in the last three years since the Paris Climate Accord and so we are putting out in 2019. The government published its Green Finance Initiative a few days ago and Big Companies will be obliged to put in their financial statements. The climate risk that they have within that business and what they are doing to tackle it, are you saying now that your organisation and presumably other Charitable Organisations will be looking at that but the mind and the lady and invest in the future . Yes, we will be taking their behaviour into account as i doing right now. Are you hoping from the deed that you are thinking that other Charitable Organisations will follow because i know the church of england has gone they say, but not many organisations have come out and done this. You are right in saying that, we are probably leaving in that field and we hope to inspire several other extending think about putting money into initiatives that deliver benefits just beyond financial benefits and if there Conservation Charity and absolutely they should be urged into looking for environmental benefits as well. Thank you very much. The ballot papers are on their way out to 160,000 conservative members. By this time next week it may be too late for Boris Johnson orjeremy hunt to greatly influence the vote. The past few days have seen a flurry of policy announcements from the two candidates. Todayjeremy hunt has set out plans to improve adult social except that is not where members are focused. Instead it is an interview he gave in which he admits he wants to bring back fox hunting. A free vote on getting rid of the ban. Is that where the country should be focused. At this a time of peak division over brexit. Fox hunting. Heres a text that buzzfeeds alex wickham received from one tory mp today. How the f is fox hunting a priority right now . . By the weekend hunt will have announced an urgent vote on other mr hunt was on the today progamme this morning. Was this a reverse ferret . The law is not going to change on fox hunting, there is not a majority in the house of commons i dont see that ever being one i was just restating a position in our ma nifesto restating a position in our manifesto from 2070 that there should be a free pilot if it ever looks like that majority would change but they would not be my priority as Prime Minister. Meanwhile Boris Johnson has been on the trail repeating his commitment to take the uk out of the eu by october 31st deal or no deal. We can come out unnoted if we have to be done we can get ready. By 0ctober to be done we can get ready. By october the 31st i have no doubt we can make the necessary preparations and people say that planes want to fly and i wont be any Drinking Water and there wont be any glucose or way to make the mars bars which our children depend and i have to say i think that is absolutely nonsense. Both candidates are at a hustings in york tonight. We may try and bring you a flavour of that later in the programme. But lets speak to two tory members with a vote kanwal toor, whos in reading, and jonny cope whos with me in the studio. Thank you forjoining us. I suppose the question to you is the last time we spoke michael gove had just been knocked out of the contest, you support him, have you chosen who you are going to choose between . support him, have you chosen who you are going to choose between . I think i cant cite any meaning very much towards Boris Johnson i cant cite any meaning very much towards borisjohnson that ive come towards borisjohnson that ive come to that conclusion for two reasons. The first one is the major issue facing the country at the moment is brexit, however is our Prime Minister would have to go to the European Union and thrash out some sort of compromise and i think boris is the man who will be able to sell that compromise to people who are a little sceptical about what theresa may brought back and have that criticism that she was always a renninger etc. I think that temple to be also be leveled atjeremy hunt but i think borisjohnson have that about him and he was only a beaver and they leader of the Beef Campaign and they leader of the Beef Campaign and therefore i think hes the man to deliver on that and secondly i like the other thing hes talking about. Hes talking about increases in pay for Public Sector work and hes talking about more bobbies on the beach and issues that really matter for voters. Hes not talking about fox hunting. Have you decided, imean about fox hunting. Have you decided, i mean youve always been for Boris Johnson, nothing explaining that opinion. No, not at all. Im going to say this again. The conservative party by the way we are having 180,000 member is not 160,000 members any more. We are buried at this point in time we have two very good, very excellent tory contenders. But my word goes to boris for the following reasons. Youll be able to unite the country and the party and thats very important for all of us. Secondly, hesa important for all of us. Secondly, hes a modern conservative and i believe hes going be able to deliver brexit in a very orderly and timely fashion. And his domestic policies hes promised he would be able to increase the bodies on the street which is something very important to all of us in the country so a combination of these and the fact that hes an international gentleman and an international gentleman and an International Leader and he believes in the global britain. For these reasons ill be going ahead and be honest ive sent out the vote for boris today. You say that the uk has to leave the eu on october the 31st, no more delays. Can you explain to me having watch this whole campaign how is he going to do that if i see you as five conservative deserters who would vote against the government, a vote of no confidence, if they went across, how would he deliver it on october 31 . This is a very complicated matter. Its not a matter of ego, its not a matter of this we set a has to happen. Boris isa very this we set a has to happen. Boris is a very smart man. He has not promised that, i think he will stick to his stance, how would you manage to his stance, how would you manage to make the quickies are not fully aware of that. I dont, im not privy to the information but im sure he will be able to deliver. Does it bother either of you the nitty gritty . How they will do it . It bothers me in a sense but i think that being is that there is not a great deal of difference between what the two of difference between what the two of difference between what the two left in my thinking on brexit. And they are saying we will go back to the European Union and will the dear and if we cant do that to believe with no deal. Thats it bother you that they are not coming up with a detail of how they will shift the goalpost in any meaningful way . I dont will shift the goalpost in any meaningfulway . I dont think will shift the goalpost in any meaningful way . I dont think we can expect them to come out and say be that the pipe negotiating points we will take to be European Union because thats not how diplomacy is done. I think whats important to me is the idea that whatever they do theirable to is the idea that whatever they do their able to come back and set it to the country. And if they are unable to get a beer that is a cce pta ble unable to get a beer that is acceptable to parliament, and then they have to be willing to leave with no deer and a parliament in some way blocks them from doing that then we have to think about who do we want to beat us into the general election and at best stage i think borisjohnson is more likely to win a conservative majority thanjeremy hunt is. I agree with him. One step ata time. Hunt is. I agree with him. One step at a time. In this point in time the country needs an effective leader to get out of the eu in an orderly fashion. And the only man who can do thatis fashion. And the only man who can do that is borisjohnson and yes, that is the guy we should be voting for. Just a quick word on fox hunting, i was not aware that conservative members wanted the debate to not to the extentjeremy hunt ten tells us the extentjeremy hunt ten tells us it would. Is it matter to conservatives in rural areas because when you look at putting across the country at large, it is quite a majority against getting rid of the band. When i woke up this morning i saw during the hunts campaign had put this into the medial saw during the hunts campaign had put this into the media i could not believe it it was like we were finding that 2001 general Election Campaign and it pushed me further towards boris. We as a conservative party cannot be talking about fox hunting at this issue we need to be talking about brexit im talking about schools and hospitals and taxes. The things that matter to people and for us to be talking about fox hunting is ridiculous in my view. If i can just about fox hunting is ridiculous in my view. Ifi canjustjump about fox hunting is ridiculous in my view. If i canjustjump in. About fox hunting is ridiculous in my view. Ifi canjustjump in. When this whole campaign started, the media narrative at least was it was unlikely to be borisjohnson who would put his foot in his mouth. If anybody was going to do it. I mean, hsg anybody was going to do it. I mean, hsg seems like a spectacular goal from jeremy hunts campaign. Absolutely. Politics is all about training. I think at this point in time that timing is not right u nfortu nately for time that timing is not right unfortunately for jeremy, boris time that timing is not right unfortunately forjeremy, boris has done a greatjob. It brought the world to the living rooms of the nation, largely through its famous photo essays. And in an industry dominated by men, a small group of female photojournalists created some of the magazines most enduring images, including the very first cover in 1936. Their work is now on display at the New York Historical society. There were only six women photographers on staff for life magazine of the 101 staff photographers for life magazine. Some of them did not even think about it they were so focused on taking the photographs that they wa nted taking the photographs that they wanted to take that they thought well, we just went in and wanted to take that they thought well, wejust went in and did it and well, wejust went in and did it and we got jostled around well, wejust went in and did it and we gotjostled around a little bit and maybe some of the men were jealous of the fact that we buy women but it was a different time than. These women were not living in the early 21st century world where we are very the early 21st century world where we are very aware of the early 21st century world where we are very aware of what women are doing and how they break into fields. They werent thinking that in her30s, fields. They werent thinking that in her 30s, 40s and 50s lit chase the parameters of the year is for this exhibition. They wanted to take photographs and they loved photography and they went out and took those photographs when they recommend assignment to do so. This is one of my favourites in the exhibition. Eight grace the cover of the first issue of life magazine which makes it a very important photograph. You see in the very bottom these two tiny figures, they are in place so you can see the enormity of the data itself so it gives it a sense of scale and then one realises what an amazing feat of Technology Building this garment was. I want people to come away with an idea of what certain parts of america where light and how americans were thinking during this time period. This is a photo taken by Martha Holmes of bailey, it appeared in the 1950 issue of life magazine. Holmes was very proud of this photograph and when the editors and up at eight they questioned whether they were going to want it or not because the pictures a white woman and bracing a black man. And a place finally decided that the photograph would run as is. They felt it was an important photograph that would show that we were confronting races and in america. The problem was that the editors he received so much criticism that it had an adverse effect on his career. Some of these stories resonate today because he was up at the american women that dilemma and i think a lot of women today still think im going to going to work full time if igoto going to going to work full time if i go to work full time when i see my children grow up. There are issues that still do resonate today. And i think thats important for us to be a nice that this is not the first time women have had these issues to think about. Great photographs. We will stay on that beam. After 67 years of pushing boundaries, the much loved satirical publication mad magazine will no longer be filling its pages with new material. The magazines famous front covers will live on but after the next issue, publications will become best of editions, recycling old content between new covers.
