With conservative members, the two leadership candidates set out their plans for Immigration Reform, post brexit. And in the next hour, the lionesses will play for a place in the semis as they take on norway in the womens world cup. Hello and welcome imjane obrien in miami, Christian Fraser is in london. We are half way through the first democratic president ial debates. The notable names on stage tonight, Bernie Sanders, kamala harris, the notable names on stage tonight, Pete Buttigieg and the former Vice President joe biden. Together they are four of the top five candidates in the polls, with biden still the clear frontrunner, which will make him a target this evening. Biden has led nearly every national and early state poll this year, hes currently 15 points ahead in the National Poll average. He is winning. But he has weaknesses, and they will be tested tonight. In the first debates, last night, there were some sparks, but no real fireworks. It started friendly enough with ten candidates on stage and answers limited to 60 seconds. It was was going to be difficult to find momentum, but it did lighten up when i turned to immigration and health. Who is this economy really working for . It is doing great for a thinner and thinner slice at the top, and we need to make structural change in our government, our economy, and in our country. When people come to this country, they leave their human rights at the border. They do not leave their human rights at the border. For all the american citizens out there, who feel you are falling behind and feel the American Dream is not working for you, the immigrants didnt do that to you. I am just simply concerned about kicking half of america off their Health Insurance in four years. Would you replace private insurance . Now, i think the choice is fundamental to our ability to get everybody cared for. Weight, private insurance is not working for tens of millions of americans, when you talk about the co paying, the deductibles, the premiums, the out of pocket expenses, it is not working. I think im the only one, i hope im the only one on this panel here that had seven people shot in their neighbourhood just last week. I know what its like to struggle, i know what its like to rent a home and to worry about whether youre going to be able to pay the rent at the first of the month and to see a mom work very, very hard and know that moms across this country are getting paid less, simply because they are women. Plenty of issues they are to get the candidates revved up. 0ur north america reporter Anthony Zurcher is here. Any winners, or more importantly, did anyone lose last night . Elizabeth warren was definitely one of the winners, she came in with momentum compared to the other candidates and she didnt do anything to damage her standing. She sounded good on the economy and health care, those are issues that are her strengths. I think cory booker, we heard the clip about gun control, he made it personal. He came in after Elizabeth Warren gave a nswe is came in after Elizabeth Warren gave answers about research being important in gun control. Julian castro was as good as ive seen him, so castro was as good as ive seen him, soi castro was as good as ive seen him, so i think it came out ahead. And the guy that wasnt on the stage, joe biden, nobody mentioned his name. When you are the and nobody ta kes a name. When you are the and nobody takes a shot at you, that is a good night. He was watching, so what do you think this article be tonight . He will be on the defensive tonight, he will not get a free pass, because he will not get a free pass, because he will not get a free pass, because he will be on the stage, have Bernie Sanders right next to him, he will try to draw a contrast between moderatejoe biden try to draw a contrast between moderate joe biden and try to draw a contrast between moderatejoe biden and a big picture and aggressive policies. Bernie sanders, theres also a generational issue, pete but a geek will be beside him as well. This could draw a contrast between them. He can beat try, this is a test to see how he can hold up in a spotlight. He has a good debates before when he was a Vice President running mate, but he has to show that he hasnt lost this in the last years. We talked about how important florida will be in 2020 last night. I have been looking at the hispanic electorate in florida. It grew by almost 500,000 voters between 2014 and 2018, that is the midterm elections, that is a rise of 81 . In a state where many of the contests have been around 1 of the contests have been around 1 of the contests have been around 1 of the electorate. We saw that with the senate race and the governor race at the midterms. That explains why three of the candidates last night suddenly broke into spanish. El president e ha atacado, ha demonizado a los inmigrantes. Es inacceptable. Necesitamos incluir cada persona en el exito de esta economia. 0n the 20th ofjanuary, 2021, we will say adios to donald trump. Cheering and applause that is the limit of my spanish, adios. Florida will be so crucial in 2020, wont they . Absolutely the hispanic vote will be a big part of it. We have to remember that the hispanic vote is not monolithic. Donald trump won 28 of the hispanic vote nationwide three years ago, and that was about as well as not perhaps George W Bush, but he is now making an Economic Impact on the hispanic community, helping them with jobs hispanic community, helping them withjobs and hispanic community, helping them with jobs and their lifestyle, and it could not be necessarily a strike against him that there are more hispanic people in florida. Anthony, thank you for that analysis. We are going to go to new york and speak to. Capri cafaro a former democratic member of the ohio senate. I want to talk. Where are you . Yes, i dont know if we have her hair. While we try and find her, i think she has gone away for a second, i just want to go think she has gone away for a second, ijust want to go back think she has gone away for a second, i just want to go back to the point you making with about Elizabeth Warren. 0h, lets now talk to capri, lovely to see you, sorry for the hesitation there. I want to talk to you about an incident last night in the midst of this debate, which really struck me as a british viewer. It was the moment they were talking about health care. The moderator asked the ten candidates whether or not they had private health care and whether they would be prepared to give up that health ca re if be prepared to give up that health care if there was a health care for all plan. Who here would abolish their private Health Insurance in favour of a government run plan . Just a show of hands to start off with . Laughter and applause. All right, well. Just two of them, there is now wa nted just two of them, there is now wanted to pick that up is because there is a problem here for the democrats, they have to appeal to the progressives in the party, we saw Elizabeth Warren and bill de blasio putting their hands out, but the rest of them kept their hands down, because they know, among moderate swing voters, there is a lot of private health care. That is right, the usa is predominately based on private Health Insurance and player based Health Insurance in particular, and 0bama 0bamacare, the Affordable Care act, it has a significant portion that is based on private Health Insurance plans providing coverage. Basically, anyone that is trying to say that they are advocating for medicare for all, would also be advocating for a full dismantling of the system as it exists in the usa, which were displacement millions of americans and their system, which is in stark contrast to the uk system and the nhs. This is a very interesting issue, because it is one that has a nuance and differentiates between the candidates on the democratic side, usually in primaries, youre dealing with in a party, not in between parties, so the differences between parties, so the differences between candidates are not nearly as defined as between democrats and republicans. But on this issue of health care, and a few other issues as well, but this one in particular, we are going to continue to see that contrast between the more progressive members that are running for president on the democratic side, versus the more traditional or moderate members that are taking a more cautious approach towards health reform, focusing on affordability and access, rather than dismantling the system for a Single Payer Health care programme, which frankly, just to be clear to the british viewers, how these candidates to find medicare for all is actually very different. There area number of is actually very different. There are a number of different bills out there which are structured to attack this issue. There are other issues, but one of the things that strikes me when you listen to the progressive base, which is very loud of the democratic party, they are talking about taxes on the rich and the wealthy, it is almost a suspicion of wealth creation, which is new in american politics, because it isa is new in american politics, because it is a capitalist society and there hasnt been that suspicion in america before. I think one of the reasons this is coming up is because there is this sentiment and feeling amongst many americans, whether you are progressive or not, at the American Dream is somehow outside of the reach, that this is a generation that will not do better than the generation before them, the children or grandchildren will not have the same kind of Economic Opportunities and growth and the meritocracy of the usa is not as robust as it has been previously. We are not seeing as much actual wage growth, for example, even though we have a strong unemployment number. So, i think that is one of the reasons why people are latching onto this, but i do think that particularly, for example, this isnt just do think that particularly, for example, this isntjust about the ultra rich versus the working class, this is also about Small Business people that are making a good living, who care about taxes, care about being able to create jobs and are leery about what does it mean, how are these people defining rich . That is a little bit different. But how do you then account for the fact that the majority of voters, including democrats, think that the economy is on the right track . How is your other democratic vision of a bad economy going to attract voters from donald trump . Im not necessarily saying that the economy is in the slump. I dont necessarily believe that, but i do think there isa believe that, but i do think there is a sentiment amongst some americans, and frankly, donald trump prayed upon this, or played upon it in 2016 to those individuals, from my part of the country in the usa, the industrial midwest, very similar to the Black Country and the midlands in the uk, maybe even parts of wales that had been left behind because of the Steel Industry and coal industry, that i dissipated over the last 40 years, and donald trump appeal to those people, saying, the opportunities have left you behind, people are not listening to you, we will re negotiate trade deals, so it is that kind of sentiment that people feel as if they are being left behind. It is more of a feeling that maybe it is a tangible economic chart. I think that it donald trump would be to focus and focus more on the economic su ccesses focus and focus more on the economic successes in the usa and he is. I think it will have challenges as well, with the impending trade wars and tariff issues that we may be facing with china, as well as some other issues hanging in the balance between mexico. Thank you for joining us. We will be talking about those very issues later on. Donald trump was en route to the g20 in osaka last night while the democrats were on stage, though still he seemed to be plugged into what was happening. Enough to be able to tweet his thoughts on it. Lets bring in ron christie former advisor to George W Bush who will have much more in depth analysis of what went on last night. You have prepared candidates for these kind of debates, in fact, the republicans had a similar thing to this back in 2015, they had 17 candidates and i had to labour under the same process. Good evening, christian. I have advised governor john from ohio for debate prep and i can tell you it is a strenuous exercise. He spent a lot of time having your candidate be attacked, having your candidate be attacked, having a candidate on the defensive and then trying to figure out what is the 32nd sound bite that you want my candidate to say to make them look good. In essence, what we saw last night was a fairly benign group, they didnt attack each other that much, i didnt look at last night as a debate, so much, i looked at it as an addition to the American People of, this is who i am, this is how i want you to define me in the days to come. One of the big issues of course, was immigration. The democrats are accusing the republicans of trying to use the sensors to gauge how many Illegal Immigrants there might be in the country using the sensors. The Supreme Court today ruled that they need more explanation from the donald trump administration. How big ofa donald trump administration. How big of a setback is that . It is potentially huge. Here in the usa, every ten years in our constitution, we are required to count the number of people who live in the usa. The distinction though is that the people who are living here, notjust citizens, but everyone in the usa, why . Because we use that to a portion to send people to the house of representatives. The thought on the democratic side is that if you have a Citizenship Question, this will intimidate people of colour to perhaps not reveal whether they are a citizen or not and states such as new york could lose congressional representation. What the Supreme Court ruled today is the administrations attempt at why they wa nt to administrations attempt at why they want to Citizenship Question and the words of the chiefjustice was contrived, which gives them the opportunity to come back and say, this is the real reason why we are sorry yes it is in or not, not the reason you gave the court, which we believe is not candidly the truth. All attention will turn to osaka tomorrow, lets talk about the g20. There are some big events, obviously the meeting with the present of china on saturday, but also the meeting that is in the book for Vladimir Putin, because the last time they met in helsinki, he was criticised for fawning over the russian president full stop he cannot afford to do that again, can he . He cannot. There is commentary in the usa particularly by democrats who want the president to press Vladimir Putin and promised that he will not interfere in the 2020 election that we are so focused on. There are many issues that donald trump and Vladimir Putin could discuss, but in a way which is not fawning all over Vladimir Putin, but also saying to him, back out and stay out of our election, that is what a lot of people in the usa want to see him say and do. Thank you for your thoughts. 0n the show yesterday, we reported on the tragic story. Of oscar and Valeria Ramirez the father and daughter who drowned while trying to cross illegally into the United States from mexico. Their deaths add to the rising number of migrants killed trying to make the journey. 0ur correspondent Chris Buckler reports from the border, where hes been speaking to other migrants hoping to get to america. Behind the barriers, just across the rio grande, are the families searching notjust for a home but a country. Every day they gather here, just on the edge of america, in the searing heat, waiting for the opportunity to cross the border and make their case for asylum, but that can take months and they know many, including President Trump, want to reduce the number of immigrants entering the us. He says, as Central Americans we are asking the president to understand we fled our country because its becoming communist and we are being politically persecuted. This family have travelled from honduras and they spent time here with 0scar ramirez and his daughter valeria in the days before they drowned trying to cross the river into texas. Translation she was with us. My children had been spoiling the baby. They were here, right next to me. The baby was so cute. He says, i told them they had to be patient but they shouldnt be taking a decision that could jeopardise their lives. Officials from el salvador have arranged for oscar and valerias bodies to be returned to their home country. Lawyers here have also been arranging for practical and psychological help for his wife, tania vanessa. How is she . Shes, well. I cannot tell you shes good because shes not. Shes too young. Shes pretty. I dont know how to describe her shape. Everyone here is relying on help and its at meal times you get a sense of the numbers needing that support. This is just one small part of matamoros, a sprawling city that is now full of people who have ended up stranded. They cannot cross this border bridge and they cannot fulfil their American Dream. This boy from Central America wants to be an architect. He says he would like to build a community of houses because its very painful to see People Living on the streets. But everyone cant have a home in the United States and its not only President Trump who says these borders need to be defended. From the other side of this river, many families will only ever be able to look and hope. Migration also the theme of the day here in the uk. The two candidates for the conservative leadership have been setting out their plans for Immigration Reform once the uk has left the European Union. Borisjohnson would allow greater numbers of high skilled immigrants to enter the uk, while exercising more control over the number of unskilled migrants coming to the country. To do that he is advocating an australian style points based system from 2021 onwards. Jeremy hunt would also like greater control over immigration. But is pledging to scrap the annual net migration target of 100,000 a year, that was introduced in 2010 by david cameron. To discuss this were joined by sunder katwala, director of British Future a think tank specialising in immigration policy. Can be clear from the outset that whichever of these two candidates become the next prime minister, that net migration target of 100,000 that was introduced by david cameron, thatis was introduced by david cameron, that is officially dead . |j was introduced by david cameron, that is officially dead . I think that is officially dead . I think that will go. Theresa may, before she was prime minister, was the home secretary for seven years, the longest serving person in that office since world war ii. This was her defining policy, that net migration should come down to under tens of thousands. It started with net migration at 250,000, and it ends with a net migration at 250,000. That number comes out every quarter and has been missed a 37 times. By the time you had missed a target 37 times, you will call it a political hit. So, you have made a promise you cannot keep, so all of the candidates agree that you draw a line under that and you do something else. If and when the uk leaves the eu, they will take control of their own immigration policy, we will talk about when that might come into play, but how have attitudes to migration shifted in the uk . It was a defining issue of the 2016 referendum. In many ways, the reason we had a referendum and the result we had a referendum and the result we had a referendum and the result we had because people had lost confidence in how successive governments had handled immigration. There is something quite surprising has happened since the referendum, attitudes have shifted quite significantly. Immigration has dropped, it has fallen down the list of public concerns, well below now brexit, obviously, the economy, housing and health service. Attitudes have warmed up. There is less media about immigration. People have been changing their minds because some think they made a point with the referendum vote, they are expecting changes of controls, but other people are more apathetic towards immigration. The 3 million europeans in britain are notjust a statistic, you see People Living their lives, worrying about whether they can stay in the country. There is reassurance and regret, actually, on different parts of the spectrum. So overall, a softer view of immigration that we had in 2016. Lets talk about the australian points based system, the policy of borisjohnson. Points based system, the policy of boris johnson. Canada points based system, the policy of borisjohnson. Canada has a similar system to this and it has greater migration rates than the uk. Sojust because you have an australia based point system doesnt mean you have a cat . In canada and australia, these are pro immigration system that let people in. It is an incredibly popular idea with the british public, the british feature went right round the country and held discussions. People were always talking about on australian points system, they were talking more about that than the net migration target. They dont know the details of the australia policy, but there were 2 Million People born in britain who live in australia, so unless you are. Yourfamily has migration from a commonwealth or european country, your biggest experience of an immigration system is that friends and family have gone to australia. So this is a system that lets people in, otherwise, you wouldnt scrap your relatives at christmas. It is controlled, selective and common sense, so that sounds like a balanced immigration system. You wouldnt call your relatives. There will be plenty more debate on that thank you. The german chancellor Angela Merkel has once again been seen shaking this time during a ceremony in berlin this morning, eight days after a similar incident. The german leader appeared uncomfortable and gripped her arms as her body trembled. A spokesperson says the chancellor is absolutely fine and has set off for the g20 summit injapan as planned. The federal aviation administration, says it has found a potential risk in new Software Developed by boeing to make its troubled 737 max airliner safe to fly. The aircraft has been grounded since march, after two accidents in which almost 350 people were killed. The faa says the latest problem must be addressed before the plane can be allowed back in the air. Now and again, the celestial stars align and so it is the weekend. It is glastonbury and it is sunny. Yes, you heard me right, there will be no rain, or mud or floating tents. And not only that. This weekend, in glastonbury, headlining the legend slot, will be one kylie minogue. Which is quite a thing. Because 14 years ago, you might remember she had to cancel her headline perfomance to undergo cancer treatment. She has made a fabulous recovery and she has been speaking to the bbc ahead of that big performance. Its the legend slot, and i keep calling it the afternoon slot, just to try and take the pressure off, but yeah, i think most people know i was meant to headline there in 2005 and i had my Breast Cancer diagnosis, so i couldnt do that. So, by the time i am standing on that stage doing my own show, it will all hit me. You know, a lot of those things, you have tojust push them aside and get on with life. But it will all come to me. Kylie minogue on the legend stage, a true legend in my view, but then i was always a fan. This is beyond 100 days from the bbc. Coming up for viewers on the bbc news channel and bbc world news temperature records are set to be broken again today as europe swelters in a searing heatwave. And the england womens Football Team take on norway hello, there. The incessant and exceptional heat is set to continue across parts of western and central europe. Here in the uk, we have had the warmest day of the year so far for scotland, Northern Ireland and wales, with barely any cloud around. The cloud does return to this evening and overnight, pulling in off the north sea, again, rather misty and murky as we dawn on friday morning here. Wont be a particularly chilly night, but also, it wont be that uncomfortable. The humidity is not that high at the moment. But in the west, 12 or 13 will be low. Its here will see the best of the sunshine for friday, because it takes a while for that sun to clear that cloud back to the coast. But it should do and then it is strong sunshine, again like today, its as strong as it gets, really, the sun is its highest in the sky. So do be aware of that because its been masked a little during the day today because of the strength of the wind. But tomorrow, we could see nearly 30 degrees in the Western Highlands of scotland. Contrast that with just 15 or 16 on the east coast. We will see that change around on saturday. See that west east differential elsewhere, and then weve got the strong and gusty winds. Not as strong and gusty as today in the south, but certainly at the feature of the weather and strong, very high levels of pollen, too, if you suffer, as you can see from Northern Ireland, across england and wales. As i say, weve had exceptional heat across europe and it will continue. Temperatures into the 40s again, records tumbling. But we will see a brief interlude where our temperatures get towards the mid 30s, as well, and thats on saturday in the south and east. Because by that stage, after the heat that i mentioned in Western Areas for tomorrow, we are already seeing a change, a potential break down to thundery showers, all that energy being released in the summer rain here. So temperatures actually go further east where theyve been quite low in recent days, tomorrow will be up as we change wind direction day south westerly. We could see 33 or 34, somewhere in southern and eastern parts of england. But thats all gone by the time we get to sunday. Because this cold weather front by the very name will introduce something much fresher of the atlantic by sunday, and also with low pressure driving it in, there will be showers, primarily across scotland and Northern Ireland, western fringes of england and wales. But it does introduce more cloud, it is a westerly breeze and we will see the odd shower elsewhere. What we will notice, however, is a much fresher feel right the way across the uk. As ever, theres more on the website. Youre watching beyond 100 days, with mejane 0brien in miami, Christian Fraser is in london. Our top stories. Democratic president ial contenders Bernie Sanders and joe biden prepare to take the stage on the second night of debates in florida. Last night ten of their rivals sparred for two hours on issues such as immigration and access to healthcare. Health care is a basic human right andi health care is a basic human right and i will fight for a basic human rights. Now more than 100 labour mps and peers strongly criticise the readmission of a politician into the party. The mp had been suspended after saying labour had given too much ground in the face of anti semitism in the party. Temperatures across france, spain and switzerland were expected to peak over 40 celsius today at the heatwave continues to affect large parts of europe. The first of the back to back democratic debates here in miami is done. Tonight, its the turn of the second group of contenders and tonight its the turn ofjoe biden and Bernie Sanders. When you look at bony ciders and to bite and there, they will be the favourites. But they may not be the favourites. But they may not be the favourites at the end. Joe joe biden and Bernie Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. Your newspaper today. Joe biden and Bernie Sanders. Your newspaper today. Well, the former housing secretary he was also from texas really went on the attack, went after him on immigration. He had clearly studied his immigration policy and i do not think he was prepared for that. He also did not see mont to answer some tough questions about changes in policy, private Health Insurance, where his stands on taxes and i think early on he stumbled a little bit. Partly by his own doing, partly by other candidates sensing some wea kness by other candidates sensing some weakness and wanting to go after him and may be his support and gsn to make themselves look a little bigger. We keep saying that you do not necessarily when the nomination in these debates, but you can lose it. Has 0rourke lost their santa fe has 2000 and the other candidates get his votes . I do not think he has necessarily lost it. He has a lot of money, so i think for those who were struggling to feel their campaign they needed more of a bang last night and he did. I think it is possible we will see some of the other candidates rising. I did not see him doing much for himself last night. What do your readers want to hear from these debates . Florida, night. What do your readers want to hearfrom these debates . Florida, of course, is a crucial state. Here in south florida think a lot of people wa nted south florida think a lot of people wanted to hear the candidates talk about Climate Change. They got about seven minutes of that, which i think was a disappointment. There was a lot of hope that there would be details about how these candidates much i to cut carbon pollution, try to get Middle America and people we re to get Middle America and people were on the mark and inside. 0n board to some policies that will hurt financially, little bit. Watch what they want to hear tonight . More of the same, the details they did not tell last night. How the governor of washington balls plan for Climate Change would save miami. He said it would, but give no a nswe rs he said it would, but give no answers of how it would. People want to be reassured, do they have a plan for how they are going to see these communities that are really relate about whether they should stop edges mortgages and if insurance plans will not achieve their homes anymore. Is there any democratic candidate that you see on stage tonight will either might be able to beat donald trump . |j tonight will either might be able to beat donald trump . I think the share champ is worried Aboutjoe Biden being able to knock him out of cis. I think there are definitely other candidates who can challenge him and beat him. It isjust candidates who can challenge him and beat him. It is just hard to know right now with 20 people fighting forair right now with 20 people fighting for air space. I think we will see. Thank you very much indeed for joining me. It is interesting that it is all about beating trump but he was not mentioned until 60 minutes into the debate. A major blunder at this stage can damage a a major blunder at this stage can damagea campaign a major blunder at this stage can damage a campaign beyond repair. While policy content is being scrutinised and there was a lot said about immigration and health care last night, it is also about personality. About how a candidate to present itself and the reaction of the crowd to their performance. Yes, policy will be important. We have been looking this week add to the policies of Bernie Sanders. Who like his fellow progressive, Elizabeth Warren, is trying to introduce a major shift in how people think of his campaign. Is the rest of america ready for that . The profits are soaring and the ceos of wall street receive huge compensation packages. 0ur of wall street receive huge compensation packages. Our proposal would cost 2. 2 trillion over ten yea rs would cost 2. 2 trillion over ten years will be fully paid for by a tax on wall streets by chelation, so much of what exists in dozens of countries around the world. Let us us get the thoughts of his brother. He is also a health and socialcare spokesperson for the green party here in the uk. Larry, it is good to see you. The draw has been kind to Bernie Sanders tonight. He is on the same platform asjoe biden tonight. He is on the same platform as joe biden and tonight. He is on the same platform asjoe biden and kept away from the senator Elizabeth Warren has been creating some ways on this campaign. Yes, itll be a very exciting night. I always get very nervous, i think i get more nervous than he does. I think that he is likely to do very well. There was quite able to policy that he set outjust a few days ago ahead of these debates. Cancelling 1. 6 trillion of student debt across america. Is that a policy america is ready for . I think people are ready for it. They had been told for years she cannot have anything, you cannot have a good health service, you cannot have housing magic and avoid until they wrestle it. But it is mostly nonsense, some people make a lot of money convincing people they cannot have it. Debt reduction, debt elimination is really a win win. What is happening now is that with all this enormous debt hanging over them, young people, College Graduates are not doing things. They are not buying houses, starting businesses, so leaving out the money but stable race in the wall street tax, return of tax, the economy will be advantaged by people not having this enormous load on them. In fact, the kind of predictions are very good economists are that they will do better for the economy regardless by what they take in in the tax. |j was listening last night that back in 2016 donald trump one by basically taking on wall street, 0ldman sachs, painting clinton as a wall street student and in many ways Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are playing by the same script. That is what they are trying to appeal to. I wonder in that sense are they populists on the left . |j to. I wonder in that sense are they populists on the left . I do not know about populist. The different as they mean it and the policies they are putting forward actually will be good for the both of the country. The problem of trump is that he was just lying and he was, his activities as president had been to funnel money to people who he precisely said he would disadvantage. There is a big difference. Are you watching a debate tonight . Ill be watching it tomorrow, im not going to stay up. Really . I will watch it on record. Do not watch our programme tomorrow, there will be a spoiler. Best of luck to you and Bernie Sanders tonight. Thank you very much. The deputy leader of the Uk Labour Party tom watson has issued a statement with 116 of the partys mps and peers attacking the decision to readmit mp Chris Williamson into the party. Mr williamsons Party Membership had been suspended following comments he made over its enquiry into anti semitism. The statement said it is clear to us earlier, mr watson said the decision had bewildered him. We dont normally do this, but this is so important. The upset and the anger is so great that i think we need to act very swiftly to reassure people we take anti semitism seriously in the labour party. Im joined now by senior political reporterjessica parker. The qualities and human rights admission is taking a look into these allegations of anti semitism into the labour party. It is also focusing on the disciplinary procedure. From listening to labour mps today, it seems to me that the investigation was, well, its mps today, it seems to me that the investigation was, well, its debt up. I think the labour party would categorically reject that and Jeremy Corbyn saying today that he had nothing to do with that process, that it nothing to do with that process, thatitis nothing to do with that process, that it is an independent process, there is a panel appointed to look at these decisions. But certainly it is not the first time that concerns had been raised about disciplinary processes and how allegations of anti semitism are handled and how quickly the party is to act. It all, i think, eventually goes back in some labour mps mines to the leadership ofJeremy Corbyn. They think it needs to be much stronger, much firmer about dealing with allegations of anti semitism. When they see this case, he has been readmitted to the party, is a very pure litmus test for the party. Mr willaimson says he has the support of the party and regrets the remarks he made at the time. Another mp said that the panel had been switched to clear mr williamson. We are jointed but are not out. There will be questions about how the panel was appointed, how they reach their decision and whether it needs to be looked at again. I think thatll be a development that is closely examined opening next 24 hour is. And investigated no doubt by the equalities and human rights commission. Surgeon, the party plus mike disciplinary process is under the spotlight. Party boss mike disciplinary process. Britain, germany and france have urged iran to stay committed to the deal it agreed in 2015 to curb its nuclear programme. Tehran has threatened to start breaking some of the terms of agreement on thursday, claiming that europe has not done enough to protect iran from us economic sanctions. But what will the europeans do if iran continues on the same path. The bbcs nada tawfik has been speaking to britains ambassador to the un, karen pierce to discuss the current tensions. Iran has said that it will soon breach its commitments under the nuclear deal. If it does, how will the uk and european nations respond . Well, you heard in the Security Council, most members called for iran not to reach the limits, and to continue to abide by the nuclear deal, thejcpoa. So thats what our focus is on at the moment. How can europe convince iran to do that . Well, the European Union has been working very hard to set up a special purpose vehicle. Its called instex. And the aim is that it can be used for trade and goods getting to iran, mainly on the humanitarian side, without violating sanctions, obviously. But its a way of getting those vital supplies like medicine to iran. Is that too little too late, though . Even the United States has questioned whether that would be effective. We are disappointed, we regret not just the fact that the us pulled out of the nuclear deal, but also that they havent fully waived the sanctions that we had expected to be waived. So from that point of view, thats a bit of a setback. But the europeans are determined to make instex work, and we really need the iranians to show some faith in it, and stay in the nuclear deal, because we will try and get that channel to work so that at least part of the bargain, if you like, that lies at the heart of the nuclear deal, the economic bargain in exchange for nuclear restraint, can be fulfilled. Are you concerned that there are some in the Us Government who are looking for a pretext to war with iran . I think everybody would be very concerned about the prospect of war. The foreign secretary in the house of commons was very clear that we wouldnt be taking any steps that led to war, and he was hopeful that that could be avoided. And finally, ambassador, you again have warned about the risk of miscalculation and conflict. What would that look like . Everybody on the Security Council is very well aware of the dangers of inadvertent conflict in the middle east. You have, the secretary general very often quotes the fact that you have Something Like five armies in syria. You have all these missiles being fired by proxies from syria and lebanon. You have the problems in yemen and now you have the risk of escalation in the gulf and the strait of hormuz. And i dont think one can be too vocal in calling for de escalation. This is beyond 100 days. Still to come. Its not just humans who need cooling down in the sweltering heat how the problem is being cracked in some of europes top zoos. The first of the womens world cup quarter finals is due to kick off in 15 minutes time with england taking on norway in northern france. The winner of this game will play either the hosts france or the reigning champions this usa so this is where the tournament really starts to get interesting. Earlier i spoke to former sunderland Football Player and editor of she kicks magazinejen 0neill who was heading into the stade 0ceane to watch the game. So, jen, before you go into the stadium, you better talk to us about the weather in le havre. Is it as hot as it is elsewhere in the country . As you can see, its very blowy here. A bit of theatrics there for you. That shows you that, because weve got a breeze here, its not quite as hot. I think were sort of 27, 28, 29 degrees. So were not suffering the heat wave in the way that they have been elsewhere in france, fortunately. The norwegians, theyre a physical team, a different kind of contest for england tonight. Are you as confident as the lionesses appear to be . Maybe its my natural disposition to be slightly nervous about these things. Speaking to other members of the media and fans, theres a lot of people around the bars of le havre, you can imagine. People realise this is going to be a very tough test for the england womenteam, but im hearing from the england camp, people have spent time with them of the last day or two, they are very relaxed and very focused and very confident. Of course, that doesnt mean theyre going to win because norway have been pretty happy, too. So its all about turning up on the night, and quarterfinals is when you need to really make your performances count and get that result. Theres also a bit of added pressure tonight because there is a place at the olympics at stake, as well, isnt there . Yeah, i think thats a big one. If you look at the eight teams left in the tournament, seven of them are from europe and there are only three places up for grabs at tokyo 2020. Teams like italy, who have done well to get at this stage, this was their main aim, was to qualify for the olympics. So they werent necessarily thinking about when the tournament. So both of these sides, norway and england, who will play as team gb, will be wary of the fact that if they dont win this quarterfinal, it could be a bit of a disaster for phil nevilles team, but also for norway, who have a proud tradition in this tournament, winning it in 1995. Not making the olympics would be a bit of a, to understate, a bit of crisis, really. In such a contest waiting for them in the semifinals, if they can get through. The hosts, france, of course, and the us, who many people fancy as the favourites. Yeah, so this is a big game forfans of england and norway, we are all excited. But its almost like the appetiser for the big one tomorrow. Usa against france in paris. Its going to be a barnstormer. Some say it should probably have been the final. I think, having spoken to a few people around, who have followed england for a long time. We almost think that if england can get past norway, then they can take either the usa or france. So its about winning the game tonight, its the cliche, its one game at a time. 0ne game at a time. Give them a shout for us. Well let you get to the stadium. Thanks very much. Thank you. More temperature records are set to be broken over the next aids. In spain because my catalonia region they have been fighting forest fires as they went has been whipping through the hills. In many of the places across europe it is the humidity which is making it feel so much hotter. We dispatched our correspondence with plenty of water to the czech republic, italy and in the french capital, paris. Here in paris it is 33 celsius at the moment. Bear in mind, gin temperatures, the average across france is between 22 to 24 celsius. It looks picture postcard here at the moment. This particular area, the moment. This particular area, the gardens between duluth and the eiffel tower, one of the most famous stretches for tourists. It is really pretty empty. There is now a nap, and extreme weather app. This is an island of freshness, between the trees, shaded areas where it felt a lot more comfortable. 0ut there it does feel highly uncomfortable and they have what is called a discomfort index, as well. These meditate on top of the 33 at about 7 degrees. But elsewhere in france today, you have lyon at 38 degrees, some part of the south of france are in the red weather warning. Late june here in rome is not meant to be less hot. The real heat tends to come injuly or august. So, this early heatwave has taken these terrorists here at the trevi fountain by surprise. The debate here in the uk was only 5 million. Not a lot, maybe a few more for the big one tonight. Ijust goes to show how big this platform is especially for some of the lesser known candidates. I cannot imagine that some of the lower rung candidates averaging 15. 3 Million People on their own. This is a huge opportunity for them to break out. What were going to be looking for tonight. Joe biden takes the stage against Bernie Sanders, which direction are they going to purge departed . Who direction are they going to purge departed .
