This is bbc news. Well be taking a look at tomorrow mornings papers in a moment first the headlines. Borisjohnson and jeremy hunt take part in the first of 16 hustings in front of the conservative Party Members where they set out their plans for brexit. President trump has tweeted that the us will hit iran with what he called major additional sanctions on monday to stop tehran from developing nuclear weapons. Police have arrested a 25 year old woman on suspicion of two assaults and endangering an aircraft, after a plane was escorted by two typhoons into sta nsted airport. And the government announces a new permament memorial to mark the First National windrush day which honours the british caribbean community. Hello and welcome to our look ahead to what the the papers will be bringing us tomorrow. With me are the Political Editor at the sunday mirror and sunday people, nigel nelson and the political commentator, jo phillips. Many of tomorrows front pages are already in. The mail on sunday says reports of a row between borisjohnson and his partner on friday night, in which police were called, has allowed jeremy hunt to overtake him as conservative leadership favourite. The observer similarly reports that borisjohnson is struggling to keep his Leadership Campaign on course after repeatedly refusing to explain why the police had been called to his home on friday evening at todays first conservative Party Hustings in birmingham. The express says mrjohnson was asked about the incident six times by conservative hustings moderator and lbc radio presenter iain dale, but each time avoided answering the question. The independent also leads with borisjohnsons refusal to ask questions on an alleged late night altercation with his partner at todays hustings, but says that tory mps are sticking behind his Leadership Campaign. Jeremy hunts team says borisjohnsons colourful private life means he is a Security Risk to the country, and that he could be vulnerable to blackmail from foreign powers thats according to the sunday times. The telegraph alleges that the wife of the neighbour of borisjohnson who has tonight admitted recording and reporting an apparent altercation at mrjohnsons address had previously swore at the conservative leadership candidate in the street. And in a statement this evening, Boris Johnsons neighbour tom penn has said he was so frightened by what he could hear at the property nextdoor that he felt compelled to call the police, says the mirror. Well, we have wall to wall Boris Johnson, we cannot avoid the story but we will discuss other things. Lets start with the mail on sunday, and this poll which is one pole, but is very interesting. The big question is does the incident that happened on friday to damage Boris Johnson or not . But they suggest is yes it does. They have a pole, both of all voters and then just tory voters. When it shows they did one on thursday and then amongst tory voters Boris Johnson on thursday and then amongst tory voters borisjohnson is 55 as best Prime Minister, jeremy hunt at 20 . We get down to doing a sample on saturday after the incident, Boris Johnson drops ten points on 45 and jeremy hunt goes up to 34 . One caveat here these are tory voters, not tory members. Of course it is tory members that have to have the vote for the next Prime Minister. But still i would expect that even amongst members or perhaps even especially there would be a certain change although i dont think it is enough to actually stop Boris Johnson becoming Prime Minister. M is important what voters think of the candidates . In the broader picture, yes but in the reality of the contest no. The rest of us have iio the contest no. The rest of us have no say. 0ur the contest no. The rest of us have no say. Our next trimester will be chosen by how many people . 160,000. They are not necessarily representative of this country. They are predominantly male, late 505, white, middle england living in the south. It cannot be right that a 5mall south. It cannot be right that a small number of people can choose a Prime Minister. Thi5 small number of people can choose a Prime Minister. This is the third one we have had by coronation. This will be the fourth Prime Minister. Two thirds are Prime Ministers of the last three decades have been unelected in the sense of a general election the first time they take office. I was doing my column on it today and what amazes me is that we say, yeah, thats all right. Thats fine, no problem. We lecture the rest of the world about Democratic Values and when they look back at us and say well, hang on, you elect your national leader, or rather dont. And he wrote in these terms when gordon brown took over for tony blair. And you consider the fact that these hustings are televised does mean. Does that these hustings are televised does mean. Does mean that these hustings are televised does mean. Does mean that the country generally gets a good chance to get a look at these two men. We get a chance but have no say. The debates la5t get a chance but have no say. The debates last week, was it only last week ye5 debates last week, was it only last week yes they made for rather excruciating viewing, but we have no 5ay excruciating viewing, but we have no say in it. So in a sense actually it rub5 say in it. So in a sense actually it rubs the salt in the wound if you look at people and think, really . Lets look at some of the other papers treating the same story. The sunday times, boris is a Security Risk, i wonder who is saying that . This is being attributed tojeremy hunt supporters who are suggesting that his colourful private life might actually end up in black male. Because Boris Johnsons might actually end up in black male. Because borisjohnsons private life has been so colourful and we seem to know all about it i would be struggling to find a blackmailer out there who would have a go at him, but one of the other interesting points that the sunday times brings up points that the sunday times brings up is thatjeremy has written a letter to Boris Johnson up is thatjeremy has written a letter to borisjohnson saying you have got to be scrutinised more, you are going to start doing tv debates and its only fair that everyone gets a chance to look at this properly but over the last week forces but running away from any kind of scrutiny and one assumes that his team are worried that he might do something stupid on air and instead he does something stupid at home. There you go. Will be interesting to see if this gets through because the idea that we are actually, even if we do not have a vote we like to see what they are up to. I agree with nigelthat in vote we like to see what they are up to. I agree with nigel that in terms of black male it is highly unlikely because he would just shrug it off but i do think that in terms of the character what were seeing here is britains of donald trump. Yes, absolutely. And i think that puts it into a whole different thing that even those, that very small number of tory members, might have a different thought if there were thinking, well, oh. He has his finger on the nuclear button. The front page of the sunday express is quite interesting because big headline, why wont boris tell us what happened . Headline, why wont boris tell us what happened . That sort of unexpected from them i find it astonishing because they are normally, and youd expected to be absolutely tory, absolutely loyal and backing the winner, and is very, very anti brexit so you would normally go for the other view, but this is actually quite damning. Normally go for the other view, but this is actually quite damningm is astonishing. That is why i quite like this headline. There is a question about whether or not borchard should should have come clea n borchard should should have come clean when he had the chance to, when he was asked and they say six times, we say seven times what happened in the early hours of friday morning. Could have made a short statement and moved on, but he refused to answer. The question obviously is is that the right thing to do . He could have made a statement yesterday when it appeared in the guardian, but. He was too busy panicking yesterday. Say we are very grateful for the concern of our neighbours and grateful for the response to the police and everything is fine we have no further comment. I think you have to say more than that. You could say we we re say more than that. You could say we were celebrating. What can plates . Smashing plates . Were celebrating. What can plates . Smashing plates . We had too much to drink, things got out of hand Everybody Knows and an apology to the neighbours would not go badly frankly. Talking of the neighbours, they are on the front page of the sunday telegraph. In the headline and they left wing neighbours. Sunday telegraph. In the headline and they leftwing neighbours. She is an american, he is a remainer. Shes been making lefty plays, sponsored by the eu. There is this sort of slightly bizarre Conspiracy Theory that has been doing the rounds today that this was because they are left wing and they dont like him and are remainers that they have gone rogue by giving this tape to the left wing guardian. And it was politically motivated when it might well be but this is somebody in public life and if he was an actor or a film star or Something Else out of his pyjamas you would not be surprised. We are back, in a sense, to what were just talking about about whether or not this is public property what actually happened or not. And i would argue it is. He is standing to be the Prime Minister of this country, then they assume she will be his partner when he does so. You have no problem with the fact that this was recorded and given to a paper . with the fact that this was recorded and given to a paper . I dont really. Its not you would do to an ordinary neighbour or anything like that. We dont know the background here or how often it happens or anything like that. Why the neighbours wanted to do that. I dont have a problem about the recording going to a newspaper, working for newsday paper and when it comes down to this there should be proper public scrutiny of a future Prime Minister and the recording is a key part about giving us recording is a key part about giving us insight into his character. And in one of the other papers, and we mentioned it previously, there are other neighbours quoted so it is not just the people who chose to record it. I think that makes a significant difference. And actually, if you are talking about what might come everybody else, sound like Domestic Violence or something unpleasant, you would the police. Lets move away from Boris Johnson to you would the police. Lets move away from borisjohnson to have a quick look at some of the other stories, stick with the sunday telegraph and a story about the rs pca. Yes, they are having their own political problems. According to the sunday telegraph radical Animal Rights campaigners seem to have got into the rspca and they are pushing for rspca to take a much harder line over other forms of what they see as animal cruelty, particularly angling and horse racing. When it comes to angling, with 4 Million People who do in this country because it is a participant support, i think it will be upset that the rspca would be involved in that and horse racing as a spectator sport. I do wonder the weather in a hundred years time the grand national will still be around when you see horses that end up being killed on the course, you might think that is now a brutal kind of thing to do i do think this is one of those things about charities and where they fit and the rspca does amazing stuff and brings for a successful prosecutions against people for badger baiting and dogfighting and stuff like that which i would argue is more important than taking away horse racing. 0rfishing rods. Important than taking away horse racing. Or fishing rods. Can i take you back to the sunday times about real buses taking the train . Marvellous bit of pr here. It is cheaper railway bosses and their staff are being ordered to fly around britain for some journeys because its cheaper than taking the train. The expenses policy, bearing in mind it went up by 3 this year, they have examples here and the cheapest flight brought by the staff wasjust under 20 cheapest flight brought by the staff was just under 20 quick cheapest flight brought by the staff wasjust under 20 quick flight cheapest flight brought by the staff was just under 20 quick flight from cardiff and the cheapest single rail ticket costs £84. Its absolutely astonishing, but they say air travel should be used where it represents the most Cost Effective option. There would be surprised. They did leave a hell of a carbon footprint. Thank you both very much indeed. Thats it for the papers tonight, dont forget you can see the front pages of the papers online. It is all there for you seven days a week. And if you missed the programme and evening you can watch it later on on bbc iplayer, so thank you again and next on bbc news it is the film review
