President trump has taken to the stage in orlando in florida to officially launch his bid for re election in 2020. With the new slogan keep America Great he claimed the us economy was the envy of the world and he prompted his 20,000 supporters to boo what he said was the fake news media. Gary 0donoghue reports from orlando. 503 days to go into americas next president selection, but donald trump is already heading off to do what he loves best, using the campaign trail. Florida was the venue campaign trail. Florida was the venue for this 20,000 strong rally, and their rallying cry, keep America Great, a familiar theme, but some new ones too. Our economy is the envy of the world, perhaps the greatest economy we have had in the history of our country. It was four yea rs history of our country. It was four years and three days ago the donald trump made his dramatic entry into the race for the presidency. Nobody took seriously that candidacy, but thanks to some controversial m essa 9 es thanks to some controversial messages on issues such as immigration and trade, he builds a coalition to take on the white house. He told his 0rlando audience that they had built a whole new political movement. Its a Movement Made up of hard working patriots who love their country, love their flag, love their country, love their flag, love their country, love their flag, love their children, and who believe that a nation must care for its own citizens first. In truth, this rally was mostly a rerun of well trodden territory. Attacks on hillary clinton, fake news and illegal immigrants. So what did his supporters wont now do they want . I were going to move the economy long more . Hes promising to a while, he said he was going to do that and said he was going to continue to do that so i like that wall. Continue to do that so i like that wall. Building the while, eliminating this actuary cities are wall, more tax reform. Eliminating this actuary cities are wall, more tax reform. I would like to see more military emphasis, the illegal Immigration Crisis to disappear. Just being in the white house gives donald trump a huge political advantage going into next yea rs political advantage going into next years election. But his appeal has a lwa ys years election. But his appeal has always been as the outsider, as the non politician, as the insurgent. And recreating that a Second Time Around wont be easy. Gary 0donoghue, bbc news, in florida. We will have more on that later in this programme. Lets look at the agenda in the uk. Later on wednesday conservative members of parliament are voting again on who they want to be the next tory party leader. Five men are currently still in the race, and at least one will get eliminated in the next vote. On tuesday they faced each other in a live tv debate. Heres a small snapshot of what the candidates had to say on the october 31st deadline for brexit. We must come out on the 31st of 0ctober, because otherwise im afraid we are facing catastrophic loss of confidence in politics. there was a prospect, if we were nearly there, then i would take a bit longer because the conservative party is the party of business, we are the party of the union, we other party of hope and i would want to avoid the disruption of no deal. Party of hope and i would want to avoid the disruption of no dealli am so avoid the disruption of no dealli am so upset we havent left. So angry that not everyone has honoured that referendum results and gotten us that referendum results and gotten us to leave. And because i started this, i will finish it. It is essential that we act on those instructions. That is what they were, instructions from the british people, they are our bosses our bosses, to us, british politicians. We failed to act on those instructions and it has to be by 0ctober instructions and it has to be by october 31. There is only one door out of this, which is through parliament. Sol out of this, which is through parliament. So i would save the time by not wasting the time attending i was going to negotiate a new deal with brussels. I would say to all these people on the platform, you voted for the deal, take the shock of the european elections, lets get on with it, lets voted through, lets get it done. So that gives you a snapshot of what is going on in the studio, next to this one when that debate was low. We have the Senior Vice President for strategy and Communications Arts atos. Kulveer, you also worked with borisjohnson when he was mayor of london as his director of transport policy. You are a member of the conservative party. You said openly you are backing borisjohnson, what did you make of the debate last night . backing borisjohnson, what did you make of the debate last night . I am, yes. As a person with a high interest in politics as a conservative party member. I am highly attuned to the messages in conversations that happened in the debate. But i think the question here, was how did a broader audience probably see it. I think they may have gone away a bit confused. There area number of have gone away a bit confused. There are a number of challenges from last night, and people found the four confusing. Five people sitting on ba rstools confusing. Five people sitting on barstools trying to answer questions from the public who werent there. Then really getting a judgement on the answer straightaway from that individual, which is also quite challenging and interesting way of doing it. But also the differentiation between them was ha rd to differentiation between them was hard to make out. And they were all talking over each other quite a lot, it felt like there was a real time pressure on them and they couldnt conclude very often, their point. Yes. The thing people took away from the debate was that there is actually a divide between four and one. Where most of them were committed to brexit, making this happen by october 31, but rory stewart was standing out alone in terms of saying, well, actually i think weve got the right deal and he wants to make that happen. By that he means what theresa may brokered with eu leaders, he saying actually this is the deal we have to push through. Yes. Thats where he stood out . Yes, and a number of things as well. He mentioned the fa ct things as well. He mentioned the fact he didnt see the need for cutting taxes at this point, something borisjohnson cutting taxes at this point, something Boris Johnson has cutting taxes at this point, something borisjohnson has made and others have made a point of. So probably some core things that a conservative audience would be looking to hear, they heard from some people, may be Different Things from rory stewart. How did Boris Johnson do, in your view . Because in the previous debate, he did not attend, many were concerned about the fact that he might put his foot in its, there might be a boris blunder as it were, how did he come 7 blunder as it were, how did he come up . I think it was a sensible, measure performance by everybody, including boris. The challenges were, five people from the same party debating a very narrow topic. It can get quite crowded in the conversation. I think at this point it just about work. Doing conversation. I think at this point itjust about work. Doing it conversation. I think at this point it just about work. Doing it with more would have been even harder, as other debates have proved. Who do you think will be eliminated today . Does a tough question. Boris has backing already seen in the previous votes, Jeremy Hunter or michael gove seems to be fighting it out for second place, so its really between rory stewart and sergeant to see who can stay in there, who can get a few more votes to stay in there on thursday sajid. More votes to stay in there on thursday sajid. Kulveer will be back so lets have a look at what you have been saying. Keep your comments coming, we will discuss them a little later in the news briefing. Lets take a look at the stories making the headlines today. The un secretary general Antonio Guterres has appealled to russia and turkey to stabilise the situation in the syrian province of idlib, where an upsurge in fighting between rebels and pro Government Forces has forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee. Public confidence in vaccines is worryingly low in some parts of the world according to new research from the health organisation, the Wellcome Trust. The survey, of 140,000 people found that trust is generally lower in richer countries than in poorer ones. This report from michelle roberts. Now the worlds biggest survey into Public Attitudes reveals where vaccination confidence is low. The Wellcome Trust ask the opinion of over 140,000 people in 41 countries. Worldwide, around 80 of people believe vaccines are safe, a similar proportion believe they were effective. People in lower income areas feel vaccines are safe, in europe, it is more varied. 0ne areas feel vaccines are safe, in europe, it is more varied. One in five are unsure whether they are safe. The lowest confidence globally is in france where one third disagree vaccines are safe. In ukraine, which reported the highest number of measles cases in europe last year, only half of people agreed that vaccines are effective. So, what is making people sceptical . In the survey, people with more trust in scientist, doctors and nurses were more likely to trust vaccines. But the researchers say there will be many factors at play. Vaccination is a personal choice, but it does do more than protect the individual, it can protect communities, babies, and young children. Michelle roberts, bbc news. Stay with us on bbc news. After a heated tv debate, the remaining five candidates to lead the governing conservative party and the country face another vote by tory mps later on wednesday. Now, a Second Special report from chinas remote western xinjiang province. The bbc has been granted a rare visit to some of the secure facilities thought to be holding more than a million muslims in the region. The team was also given access to religious sites and senior islamic officials, as the authorities try to refute allegations that, in the name of combatting extremism, they are wiping out religious belief. Here is our china correspondentjohn sudworth. At the id kah mosque, xinjiangs largest, chinas supremacy over faith is being made clear from the flag fluttering on the roof, to the clean shaven faces below. Inside, though, the government approved imam denies that long beards are now banned in xinjiang. Translation chinese citizens have religious freedom. Its a part of that freedom to choose whether to have beards or not. The locked and deserted homes tell a different story. Hundreds of thousands of uighurs, kazakhs and other muslim minorities have disappeared, and even mild expressions of belief are now forbidden. So here it is in black and white, a notice telling People Living in this village that certain religious practices are banned. At this point here, at number ten, it says that the wearing of long beards for young men is not to be allowed. And there is this right across the region, mosques are being destroyed. Over the past two years, in cities, towns and villages, dozens of religious sites, once clearly visible on satellite images, have been turned into patches of bare earth. Chinas case is laid out in gruesome detail in this exhibition, designed to show that xinjiang has suffered years of separatist violence. And it hopes that by giving us access, including to some of the secure facilities for muslims that it calls schools, such policies will be seen as restrained and reasonable. But this is the gatehouse to the aitika mosque in keriya. Its distinctive shadow shows it was Still Standing in late 2017. Now, its gone, overwhelmed by the surrounding commercial development. Work is still under way when we visit, with Construction Machinery on the spot where the gatehouse once stood. Nearby, traditional uighur neighbourhoods are being demolished too. The old homes are visible in this image from two years ago. Just a few months later, whole swathes have disappeared. This patch of land encapsulates perfectly the two driving forces of modern china political stability and economic development. There is no doubting that these neighbourhoods were poor, but by demolishing them, by repressing the faith of those who lived in them, and by forcing hundreds of thousands of them into re education, the concern is that a whole history and culture are being wiped out. In 2015, we filmed the crowds, young and old, turning up to pray at the id kah mosque. Four years on, this is the scene just before prayer time. Inside, a few elderly men gather in silence. Isnt the truth that what weve just seen is proof that china has suffocated islam in this region . Translation its true that a few years ago there were many more people, but nowadays, the government is creating jobs. People are busy making money, so naturally, fewer come to pray. Until recently, this place was the vibrant heart of a deeply devout society. Now, there is almost no one left. John sudworth, bbc news, xinjiang. The International Team investigating the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines flight mh17 is expected to name individual suspects later today. Criminal proceedings will be launched in the netherlands. See you soon. Hello there. Weve still got some rain around, still got the potential for some more thunderstorms as well. Weve got this warm and humid air thats been coming up from the south, across biscay, together with the storm clouds that we had earlier on moving across the south east of england and east anglia. And this is the main area that continues to be at risk of some thunderstorms well into wednesday, some torrential bursts of rain and gusty winds as well. As one area of storms moving away into the north sea, so we could see more developing late morning and into the afternoon, again towards the south east of england and east anglia. Maybe some patchy rain for lincolnshire and through the midlands, but further west, itll be turning drier and brighter with some sunshine, and for scotland and northern ireland, therell be some sunny spells and some showers, and temperatures on wednesday similar to those of tuesday. So some rain for the tennis at queens again, and some rain i think for royal ascot. But thursday for ladies day, probably dry, and certainly on friday the weather is improving. The heat and humidity and the storms are getting pushed away into the near continent as that weather front leaves our shores, and instead, were introducing fresher air around that area of low pressure. And overnight into thursday, towards the north west, closer to that low, thats where well see most of the showers. Clearer skies for england and wales. Itll feel cooler and fresher overnight. Therell be the promise of some sunshine and dry weather to start with on thursday, but these showers are going to push across from wales and the south west of england. Probably the driest and sunniest weather likely to be across the north west of england. Therell be scattered showers across northern ireland, and some frequent and heavier showers for scotland, those temperatures again 16 20 degrees. As we head towards the end of the week, the signs of this area of High Pressure building up from the south. But across northernmost parts of scotland, were closer still to that area of low pressure. So here were going to find some more showers, a bit breezy as well. But away from here, whilst well see the cloud building up after a sunny start, its probably going to stay dry with some spells of sunshine. Those temperatures arent really changing very much at all over the next few days, still stuck at around 16 20 degrees. As we head into the weekend, however, it should get warm everywhere, and a decent start to the weekend. I think as we head into sunday well start to see the weather changing, with some rain beginning to push in from the west. This is the business briefing. Im sally bundock. Will they or wont they .
