Survivors of the Grenfell Tower and bereaved families have been leaving reefs at the foot of the tower in west london. The Church Service was held to mark the second anniversary ofa held to mark the second anniversary of a fire in which 72 people died. A Public Inquiry heard that cladding on the outside of the building was the primary cause of the spread of the primary cause of the spread of the blaze. Two years on three quarters of Tall Buildings in england with similar cladding have not had it removed or modified. You manning reports. Lucy manning has the story. Ijust lift my head up to the sky and say help me to be strong ijust cant give up now. In the shadow of grenfell, a community that fire ripped apart came together. But, if were honest, not much seems to have changed. Two years on, we still seem no clearer on where responsibility lies. Zainab choucair. Mierna choucair. 72 names, many whole families. The pain has not subsided. It has just lasted for a longer, and the sense of injustice has grown. We dont want to wait for justice, i dont know, certain years. As soon as possible we get the justice. Grenfell remembers, grieves, but they dont forget they still dont have any answers. Two years on, no one held responsible. No one charged. No outcome to the public enquiry. Marcio gomes and his pregnant wife escaped that night but his son, the youngest of the 72 victims, killed two months before he was due to be born. Lots of emotions. Crying, anger. Love, forgiveness. Everything. And two years on, has enough changed . No, not nearly enough. A lot more needs to be done. People need to feel safe at home. The grenfell families were promised everyone would be rehoused within three weeks. Two years on, and 17 households still havent found permanent homes. The country was promised every high rise building would be made safe. Two years on, 328 buildings are still with unsafe cladding, with tens of thousands of people still living in them. Im proud to be supporting this cookbook. Survivor Munira Mahmud has raised money with a grenfell cookbook, but cannot find peace. It is two years on. And no one has been charged yet. People are walking freely, sleeping nicely, you know, and we are in a nightmare. The families, we lost families, friends, neighbours. They are dignified. They have refused to give up. But are still waiting. Ben ando is at the vigil. Good evening from west london. Im standing at kingsdown close in the shadow of the Grenfell Tower. People are gathering just down the street from me. There is music and singing, we had christian prayers, we have had readings from the koran and a short time ago the names of the 70 people who died in the tragedy two yea rs people who died in the tragedy two years ago were read out. And that is the theme is, forever in our hearts. That was the message read out, a clear sign that they are determined that those who died will not be forgotten and they will keep doing this, they will keep remembering them and campaigning until they can ensure that the tragedy that occurred at Grenfell Tower can never happen again. After the fire, of course, that community of people had to be accommodated in far flung places. How have they held onto that sense of community . With difficulty. I think also the scale of the tragedy has been something that has made it possible to pull together people, something we are so much attention was focused on this area, and they are showing that they are robust as a community that cares very much about every Single Person within it. What we have had is music and on about 30 minutes there will bea and on about 30 minutes there will be a silent walk, and that it does ta ke be a silent walk, and that it does take place on the 14th of every month and has done since the fire, two years ago. In terms of what the community can do in terms of housing it is worth remembering that families who were left homeless after the tragedy are still living in temporary accommodation and that is something that a lot of people here remain angry about and they say is quite shameful. Then, thank you very much. Boris johnson, the frontrunner in the race to be conservative party leader and Prime Minister, now says he will take part in the Bbc Television debate with the other contenders next tuesday. In a radio interview, he said it was perfectly realistic to renegotiate the Withdrawal Agreement with the eu before the end of october, but the uk should step up preparations for a no deal brexit, to help get an improved deal. The leadership race lost one candidate today the heath secretary, matt hancock, announced he was dropping out, leaving six men going in to the next ballot of tory mps on tuesday. With more, heres our deputy political editorjohn pienaar. Leader of the pack, the strong, silent type. Are you afraid of scrutiny, mrjohnson . Was he up before facing live interviews . Joining the other candidates in a bbc tv debate . It turned out he was. I have always been keen on tv debates. Im slightly bewildered by the conversation that has been going on, and the best time to do that i think would be the second ballot on tuesday. He had decided risking a slip or setback was worth it, better than seeming to hide away his pledge, no surrender, he would deliver a managed brexit, deal or no deal, by october the 31st. The only way to make sure that we convince our partners that we are determined to get that outcome, is to prepare for no deal, and i think it would be absolutely bizarre to signal at this stage that the uk government was willing, once again, to run up the white flag and delay yet again. As for the big barrier to a deal, how to avoid stops and checks on the eus irish border after brexit. The obvious way to do it is to make sure that you have checks on anybody who breaks the law, as you would expect, but you do it away from the border. What about using cocaine question of a damaging admission by rival michael gove. Mrjohnson treated it is almost something trivial. A single inconclusive event that took place when i was a teenager. Moments later, the first to drop out. Health secretary Matt Hancocks 20 votes in his last round now up for grabs. Where i have put myself forward as a candidate focused on the future, the party has an assembly focused very much on the here and now and how we get through brexit in the next few months. So i have decided to withdraw from the contest. In other words, the big issue in the coming debates and rounds of voting next week is how willing the next Prime Minister will be to leave the eu without a deal. That and who is best placed to take on the front runner. Jeremy hunt said his negotiating experience in business and as foreign secretary meant he could get a deal where theresa may failed, so trust him and not Boris Johnson. His hard stop on the 31st of october is effectively saying that the best we can offer the country is either a no deal brexit or a general election, if parliament succeeds in stopping that. Six runners left. Michael in third place and trying to accelerate. Im looking forward to a contest of ideas and to exchanging thoughts with other candidates about how we can make the country better in the future. What rory stewart warning against no deal and Boris Johnson. He keeps saying he will deliver brexit by the 31st of october but how . We need the details of how itll happen. Brexiteer dominic raab, you know they are campaigning when the hard hats come out this is the start of the race, we know about the curse of the front runner in conservative leadership contest. Theres many a slip between cup and lip. In the home secretary, like all of them needing to gain ground. The question is who is going up against boris and i think what i offer is a good choice, a fresh choice for the party and the country. This isntjust a race to downing street, it is a chase. The prospect of a calling number ten home has tantalised borisjohnson for years. Now it mayjust be within touching distance. We are joined by the founder of the Public Opinion poll Company Delta poll uk. What was your reaction to seeing the race reduced to seven yesterday as macro no surprise to see borisjohnson in the lead, surprised to see you got 100 votes from mps, so he exceeded expectations. Rory stewart did get through, hejust expectations. Rory stewart did get through, he just squeaked through, apart from that it was pretty much as expected. The main candidates behind borisjohnson where there and they remained there today although matt hancock has dropped out. Him having dropped out, how does that change things for someone like rory stewart . Dropping out and a loss of the other three candidates means a0 mps are now in the mix and even if they went with jeremy hunt mps are now in the mix and even if they went withjeremy hunt en mps are now in the mix and even if they went with jeremy hunt en masse, that wouldnt mean he would be able to get right up to borisjohnson. But it can mean that one candidate, if he can get enough of those mps on board, could bring out some sort of lead in the second place and could indicate on what areas the mps are indicate on what areas the mps are indicate interested in the candidate they go with. We have debates to look forward to, channel 4 debates to look forward to, channel aon debates to look forward to, channel a on sunday and the bbc on tuesday, what difference does it make to the candidates whether they do or do not ta ke candidates whether they do or do not take part . Political scientists look at these contests having two stages, the discovery stage and the scrutiny stage, one follows the other. All the candidates at the moment with the candidates at the moment with the exception of borisjohnson are in the discovery stage, but debates herald the start of the scrutiny stage. Each one perhaps including borisjohnson, stage. Each one perhaps including Boris Johnson, perhaps not stage. Each one perhaps including borisjohnson, perhaps not depend on whether he turns up, have to defend their positions and talk about policies, talk about personalities and characters and there has not been an opportunity yet for all of the candidates to do that, and i would imagine that borisjohnson will want to avoid the first debate because he could see a situation where the other five candidates gang up where the other five candidates gang up on him. He will want to delay that scrutiny stage for as long as possible and then to make it as brief as possible. Much has been made of the fact that they have not seen made of the fact that they have not seen as made of the fact that they have not seen as much of him out and about as they might have done given that he did so well yesterday in that vote. It can make or break you, cant it, it can elevate your standing or expose you to the scrutiny that you really cant cope with. Absolutely. It is often said if you are well in the lead you can only lose by entering Something Like a debate. Lets look at how theresa may did in 2017, leading in the polls going into a debate she decided not to turn up and it didnt work out well for her. Boris johnson turn up and it didnt work out well for her. Borisjohnson i imagine will want to continue to avoid scrutiny for as long as possible, avoid making mistakes and hope that his opponents dont gang up on him. It is down to the 160,000 conservative members to make a final decision with the final two. How would you characterise the kind of mps and leaders that conservative voters are looking for today . Mps and leaders that conservative voters are looking for today7m mps and leaders that conservative voters are looking for today . It is very easy, they are looking for winners. And will that be Boris Johnson . We are not sure. Thank you. Do you have any questions for the conservative leadership candidates . On tuesday bbc will be hosting a live election hustings between the contenders, one of whom will be the new Prime Minister. You can get in touch. We will find out how the latest in the conservative leadership race is covered in tomorrows back front pages at 10 30pm and 11 30pm this evening on the papers, with Michael Brooker and yasmin alawite brown. Alibhai brown. Public Health England has linked the deaths of two more hospital patients to an outbreak of hysteria linked to prepacked subjects. Our Health Editor hugh pym joins us now. Now we know that there are nine cases in five deaths and seven hospital trusts around england, certainly not just in hospital trusts around england, certainly notjust in the north west. Public Health England says it is nothing for patients to worry about, the production of the sandwiches and salads stopped a little while ago, but they are continuing to look back at their records for previously unexplained deaths to see whether this outbreak of this theory has spread more widely across nhs trusts in england. Iran says it categorically rejects us claims that it was behind attacks on two oil tankers in the gulf of oman yesterday. The us release the video says shows a really special forces removing an unexploded mind from the side of one of the damaged vessels. It is a further escalation of tensions over the strategically important waterway that separates iran from the arabian peninsula. Crude oil prices have risen, in response. These are the pictures the us sees as proof of irans involvement in the attacks. Pictures showing what they say are Iranian Revolutionary guards removing an unexploded mine from the side of one of the two stricken oil tankers. The us also released a photograph which it says, shows where one mine had exploded close to where the other had not. All part of a us attempt to blame iran for the attacks that left both tankers ablaze early yesterday. An assessment shared by the United Kingdom. We have no reason not to believe the american assessment and our instinct is to believe it because theyre our closest ally and we are very worried about the situation in iran. The attacks took place near the strait of hormuz, which separates the gulf from the gulf of oman, one of the most important strategic waterways in the world because its a choke point for global oil supplies. At its narrowest point, the strait is just 21 miles wide and this would make it relatively easy for iranian fast attack boats, used by the revolutionary guard, to strike shipping. The attack on the two oil tankers happened close to jask, which is also the location of a secret Iranian Naval base. But iran has categorically denied any involvement and accused the us of threatening regional stability. Translation the Us Government has acted against all International Laws in the last two years, by adopting an aggressive policy and it poses a serious threat to regional and international stability. With the us stepping up its military presence in the region, diplomats fear theres a serious risk of escalation. The question now is how the us or its allies respond. James landale, bbc news. The Foreign Office has issued a further statement clarifying the position that it set out yesterday in response to these attacks on the oil tankers. The statement says, following our own assessment the uk concludes that it is almost certain that a branch of the iranian military, the Islamic Revolutionary guard corps attacked the two tankers on the 13th ofjune. No other state 01 on the 13th ofjune. No other state or non state actor could plausibly have been responsible. It goes on to say there is a recent precedent for attacks by iran against oil tankers. An investigation of the made a tough attack on four concluded that it was conducted by a sophisticated state actor, and they are confident that iran bears responsibility for that attack. Im joined by an iran expert attack. Im joined by an iran expert at the International Crisis group, joins us now from washington, dc. Thank you forjoining us. How would you characterise the situation as it stands . The cycle of aggression i dont think is going to result in a conflict between iran and the us or their respective allies in the region but the problem is each cycle of escalation brings us closer to the brink of a potential catastrophic situation that can spiral out of control and result in a regional conflagration. The United States is convinced that iran is behind these attacks yesterday and the United Kingdom has backed that conclusion. How else, then, would iran point of view, if they were not responsible . The iranians are trying to shift the blame to those state actors in the region that they believe would benefit from putting the us and iran in a collision course, and by that they specifically mean the united arab emirates, saudi arabia and israel. They have been arguing for months now that they are trying to provoke, these countries a military crash between iran and the us in the hope that the us would be able to do their bidding and cut iran down to size as they see it, a regional rival that they themselves, these temperatures countries have not been able to contain in recent years. How much of a risk is there that there could be an inadvertent further escalation, whether that includes any military involvement or not . The reality is that the Trump Administration has created a climate that there is so much tension and friction between iran and the us and respective allies in the region that the climate is ripe for some sort of inadvertent escalation, because we know that the iranian leadership does not want war, nor does President Trump but there are elements within iran and washington who would benefit from a conflict and there are countries in the region who think that this would be in their interests. And so, we are in many ways in 191a moment that a single incident could put that entire on fire. Thank you very much for talking to us. Raf helicopters have dropped more than 100 tonnes of gravel to reinforce flood defences in lincolnshire, which breached after more than two months of rain fell in the space of a few days. The village of wainfleet, near skegness, has seen homes flooded and residents evacuated, with unseasonably heavy rain prompting flood warnings across parts of the midlands, the north west, and wales. Danny savage reports. Several streets in the small town of wainfleet now look like this. After five days of rain, the nearby river steeping was overwhelmed. Everyone is now out their houses. I think it was a little bit more a bit more urgency last night once the power went off and obviously its dark, its a little bit more difficult. Because i mean these cars are underwater, nobody had a chance to even move their cars . I presume it came over pretty quick when it did. The river runs between two high banks, but yesterday one of them gave way. The surrounding land is lower so a wide area was very quickly flooded. Thats a pool that goes down six foot. Youve got a Swimming Pool in your garden . Yeah. Which has now turned into a. One big pool. Laura has only lived here for a few months. Now shes had to move out indefinitely. Im shocked. It just doesnt happen to that river. Im just shocked, i didnt expect this. Are you insured . Yes. But it could take a while, couldnt it . Yeah, but were all alive, so thats the main thing. Next door, paul could only look in from the outside. He doesnt want to open a door in case it lets in water. It was like a war zone last night, toing and froing with the trucks and the sandbags and everybody pulled together. It was a really good effort from the local community. An raf chinook helicopter was brought in to drop huge bags of ballast to try and plug the gap in the breached bank, but the land here is so low in places that much of the water that has already got in, will have to be pumped out. It could take a while for things to improve. Danny savage, bbc news, wainfleet in lincolnshire. Our weather presenter nick miller has come in to talk about this. Why is it so wet, this month ofjune . M is it so wet, this month ofjune . M is not the usual, it is nothing that people would like to see. It was dry in the spring but it has been such a huge amount of rain. Some parts of england and wales have had double the average june rainfall for the whole of the month and it is only during the day. We have had a stock weather pattern with low pressure close by. We have just had bands of rain circulating around low pressure. We have been in an unstable atmosphere. The jet stream has had a role to play. The elements have ganged up and produced days of rain in the wettest parts of england and wales and it hasnt looked much like summerso far, and wales and it hasnt looked much like summer so far, hasnt felt like it either, temperatures to 2 degrees below average so far each day in june so it has been a bit of a messy summer so june so it has been a bit of a messy summerso far. June so it has been a bit of a messy summer so far. Which areas in particular have suffered and why . Eastern parts of wales, wiltshire, lincolnshire, parts of eastern england, north east england as well, and this is where the weather systems have favoured the heaviest rain as they have moved slowly into the uk, partially driven by the fact that some rain is coming into the south east, sometimes we looked to the atlantic for our weather, it is coming from the south east. Some areas had a dry spring, some would like to get some rain on the garden and for many, the rain has been manageable and even welcomed on the garden, but as we can see it is coming in huge amounts to some unlucky areas, and there have been big problems as a result. How likely is it that the rest of the so called summer is it that the rest of the so called summer will be blighted in this way . It is the 6 million question. I would hate to rack off the whole summer. Would hate to rack off the whole summer. The current outlook for late june into early july, summer. The current outlook for late june into earlyjuly, there is an indication that the low pressure could stay close by, remaining unsettled with rain at times, not necessarily the areas that have had the worst of it but more rain at times, from july into august perhaps something more summer like, favouring southern and eastern parts of the uk rather than the north west which may stay close to low pressure. In terms of sustained heat, that looks to be more across central parts of europe this summer rather than necessarily in the uk. Joining us now as councillor nick worth, the deputy leader of South Holland district council. Thank you for joining holland district council. Thank you forjoining us. Try if you would to explain what it is like that you are coping with in your part of lincolnshire . It is a different scenario from wainfleet. Weve had effectively three months of rain fall in as many days. That has caused issues with surface water flooding, and it has put a big strain on the Sewage Systems which are working at full capacity. How have the rescue agencies and authorities managed to respond . They have worked well together, the cou nty have worked well together, the county council, the district council, anglian water, the environment agency, we have all been working together to try and resolve these issues, and fire and rescue services have been feeding into that as well so they have worked well together, i think now we are in a situation of trying to unblock drains, im trying to unblock areas of the sewage system as well. But it has been quite challenging but i think we are starting to get ahead of it now. We just need a bit of dry weather. All the authorities have to have contingency plans. How well prepared do you think you were, and how well are you able to respond . We well were prepared, we have contingency plans in place, all of those plans have been enacted, so i think we got out quite quickly and i think we got out quite quickly and i think it has been really appreciated by residents, who i have to say, seeing them today coming out with bacon sandwiches and cups of tea for the team out there, that was a nice gesture from them and i think they appreciated all of the work that has been going on. How many people have had to be rehoused temporarily . We had 24 people evacuated and put into a Sheltered Housing area but most of them are now back in their housing, but we have managed to solve the majority of those. So, it was an issue, and that was really just of those. So, it was an issue, and that was reallyjust putting pressure on pumps, and the pumps had broken because of the sheer volume they were having to deal with. But that got sorted quickly. So i think generally agencies working together have dealt with this as quickly as they possibly could but there will be Lessons Learned as well for the future. Lets hope that you have a dry spell, counsellor nick worth from South Holland district council, thank you for talking to us. Lets ta ke thank you for talking to us. Lets take a look at that all important weather forecast. There is more rain in this weather forecast. But modest improvements for many. We will see a transition from persistent heavy rain to showers over the next few days. Northern ireland seeing more general rain spreading in this afternoon and evening. Heavy at times, with maybe the odd rumble of thunder. Through the night you will see that heavy rain working into western scotland with some wet weather for wales and parts of western england by the end of the night. For the weekend, western england by the end of the night. Forthe weekend, quite western england by the end of the night. For the weekend, quite a showery looking with picture, often cloudy but some spells of sunshine with temperatures rising a little, not as cool as it has been in the past week. For the weekend, saturday sta rts past week. For the weekend, saturday starts off like this. Heavy rain for Northern Ireland working into western scotland. This band of rain pushing across england and wales will turn showery, some of those could be heavy and thundery. It is still u nsettled could be heavy and thundery. It is still unsettled with still the risk ofa still unsettled with still the risk of a few heavy downpours. Thats your weather. This is bbc news. The headlines there has been a day of events to mark the tragedy of Grenfell Tower. The leading contender for the conservative Party Leadership race borisjohnson conservative Party Leadership race Boris Johnson says conservative Party Leadership race borisjohnson says he will take part ina borisjohnson says he will take part in a televised debate on the bbc on tuesday. Two more hospital patients die in an outbreak of listeria linked to prepacked sandwiches, bringing the total number of deaths to five. Us says footage shows iran was behind an attack in omagh yesterday. England prepared to take on argentina in the womens world cup tonight at 8pm. England play again tonight, as we just mentioned, but scotland are struggling in the womens world cup in france after losing 2 1 to japan. It is not just in france after losing 2 1 to japan. It is notjust scotland but that womens first world cup. This generation of scottish children will grow up with female footballers who inspire them. The women take it more seriously than the men. The men fall over more often. Going into this match are bottom of their group, scotla nd match are bottom of their group, scotland had to deliver on the pitch. No easing easy task, the opponents japan seventh in the world. And they show why, 20 minutes m, world. And they show why, 20 minutes in, a mistake by the scotland captain gifted japan a dry. And it was the scotland captain who caused the second goal, too, needlessly bringing down a japan player, the second goal, too, needlessly bringing down ajapan player, who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way. It was a more positive scotland in the wrong half second half, Erin Cuthbert hitting the post. Then call from a penalty. But it was waved away without consulting the video assistant referee. Minutes from the end, retribution. Another loss but still the hope of getting to the knockout spade stages. Scotland will have to rely on results elsewhere. So, lets turn our attention to england, they kick off against argentina in 30 minutes, england beat scotland in their first game of course. Ahead of the match, and Sports Correspondent has sent this report. As we near kick off here, you have to remind yourself just as we near kick off here, you have to remind yourselfjust what as we near kick off here, you have to remind yourself just what an achievement it is for argentina just to be here. Three years ago, they didnt even have a team, they have had to ever come huge financial and logistical struggle just to qualify for this world cup. They have already got their first point on the board as well, that shop draw againstjapan, board as well, that shop draw against japan, phil neville board as well, that shop draw againstjapan, phil neville says he expects them to be just as organised and determined out here today. He has made four changes to his team for this game. The big news isnt dull where Carly Telford has been preferred to Karen Bardsley between the sticks. It is the 31 year olds third world cup but the first time that she actually gets to play, so a huge moment for her this evening, and of course england, if they win, will go through with a game to spare. Lets return to the conservative leadership race. The favourite Boris Johnson has responded to criticism that he is avoiding media scrutiny in the contest by agreeing to take pa rt in the contest by agreeing to take part ina in the contest by agreeing to take part in a bbc debate with his rivals next week. In an interview on bbc radio four, Boris Johnson next week. In an interview on bbc radio four, borisjohnson also said the uk will hold no conviction in talks in brussels unless the country prepares for a no deal scenario. Lets ta ke prepares for a no deal scenario. Lets take a listen to the full interview from that programme. Lets take a listen to the full interview from that programmem lets take a listen to the full interview from that programme. It is absolutely crucial to prepare for a no deal and i dont share the deep pessimism of some people about the consequences of no deal. That is not to say that i dont think there will be some difficulties that need to be addressed, and we must make sure that we can address them but unless we get ready, and unless we show fortitude and determination, i dont think that we will carry conviction in brussels about the deal we want to do. How do you solve the central problem, which is that the European Union once a border of some sort in the sense that they cannot have customs arrangements on one site and different ones on the other side. They dont want a border. They dont wa nt they dont want a border. They dont want kids coming in from the uk with different regulations into their sphere. Yes, but those problems are easily capable of solution, as i think the commission has said in the past, with maximum facilitation techniques and after all, at the moment, you already have goods with, conforming to different standards. France, for instance, has different laws on flame retardant furniture, yet we have no checks at the borders to intercept goods from france that may not be legally sold in this country. Can ijust ask, so we do a deal with america and we allow in chlorinated chicken, how did the European Union stop that getting into the European Union . The obvious way to do it is to make sure you have checks on anybody who breaks the law, as you would expect, but you do it away from the border. And thatis you do it away from the border. And that is common ground. So, you have to take your chicken to somewhere else which still could be a target for terrorists . No. Anybody who brea ks for terrorists . No. Anybody who breaks the law is clearly going to be subject to checks and investigations. You cant say to smugglers, turn to the centre and show us what you are smuggling. Smugglers, turn to the centre and show us what you are smugglingm you are talking at about the law at the irish border, there already is smuggling across that border and smugglers are intercepted in the normal way. That is the important thing. There are ways of doing this that do not require a hard border. Do you really think you can persuade the European Union of that . They would say it allows a flood of goods, particularly when you have been quite clear you would like this change because you want different standards in britain. |j change because you want different standards in britain. I do. So those things would get into the European Union. They might, but then people will be breaking the law and there are ways of intercepting them that do not require hard borders. That is what we need the solutions to, the facilitation is that need to be provided to enable that to take place. And to enable us to do a proper free place. And to enable us to do a properfree trade deal place. And to enable us to do a proper free trade deal with our friends and partners. Those should not be preordained by the backstop but they should be remitted into the implementation period for discussion after we have left, in the context of our negotiation of the free trade deal. That is the obvious solution. It is something that is agreed on all sides of the house. Now, i accept that at the moment, the eu will say, well, we cant accept that, it is not possible. They are bound to say that. I think that they will find a way out. They will find a way forward. It will simply not be sensible for the eu and the uk to pa rt sensible for the eu and the uk to part in that kind of disorderly way. But if we have too, if we have to get out on what is called no deal terms, or wto terms, then it is our absolute responsibility to prepare for it. And it is by preparing for it that we will prevent that outcome. If you go, as Prime Minister, if you win and go to the European Council make the sort of argument, the sort of conversation we have been having about checks away from the borders, do you think they will suddenly say, oh, that is right, we didnt see it before, but now we agree with you. Right, we didnt see it before, but now we agree with youlj right, we didnt see it before, but now we agree with you. I think they will see that politics has changed in the uk and in europe. They now have 29 brexit meps in strasbourg. The parties in this country are facing an existential threat from parties that are feasting, both the brexit party and the liberal democrats, up in the polls, leading the polls, as a result of the failure of the two main parties to deliver on the will of the people. That is what needs to happen, it needs to happen by october 31, and we need to get on and do it. And all of those who shame say we should delay, that we should kick the can down the road, i think they risk doing terminal damage to trust in politics. You have to get on and do this. Even if they are saying that you are right and my suggestions are wrong, that they will do a deal and come to the table, and even if they say we need a couple of more weeks, we have to be out . We have to be out by october 31. Even if you are on the brink of a deal . Well, that would be. We have to get out by october 31, and i think it would be absolutely bizarre to signal, at this stage, that the uk government was willing, once again, to run up the white flag and delayed yet again. And that is so that promise you would resign as a newly elected Prime Minister . My commitment is to honour the will of the people and ta ke honour the will of the people and take this country out on october the sist, take this country out on october the 31st, and get this thing done, that is what people want. And the way to do it, as i say, is to disaggregate the current Withdrawal Agreement and move on.
