Health unions joined other campaigners, arguing there was a winter crisis which needed urgent action and investment. Today, a report from Health Experts including the former head of nhs england has called for new answers to nhs funding problems. The report commissioned by the liberal democrats calls for an extra £4 billion on top of inflation for the nhs in england in the next financial year, more than double the increase announced in the budget, a single, ring fenced tax for health and social care replacing national insurance, and reinstating a commitment to cap the costs paid by individuals for social care. The report argues that higher funding needed for health and care should come through increased taxation, and that this will be more transparent if there is a dedicated tax for this purpose. And the great thing about this is we are making a documentary where i will go and visit projects helping People Living with mental illness, which could be self harm, anxiety, depression, griezmann, bullying, all of those issues. It cove rs so bullying, all of those issues. It covers so many. bullying, all of those issues. It covers so many. Bereavement. One infourof us covers so many. Bereavement. One in four of us are dealing with mental illness. It is huge. So, what are we doing . How can we help . How can people find out . There are incredible organisations and people. It is finding those and spreading some awareness. And hopefully some, you know, helping people find the right help, and some hope moving forward. I listened to your first show back on radio2. It is emotional listening to you. You get the sense it has so many impacts and so many people. Yes. I think, you know, living with someone going through that, it is hard to understand what they are going through if you have never been through it. It is hard to help. You want to fix things. Perhaps that is not what you should be doing. I want to talk to many people along the way in the documentary and find out how to best help those you love and help them find, you know, the right help. When you were going through this you have those times when your legs are hurting, your back is hurting, everything takes. Honest, your eyelashes can hurt you will need something to drive you on and it seems like you have already got that sort of mental space where you will be able to say i have to do this. I came out with this idea about ten years ago when i went to see somebody who gave a great talk about his crossing of antarctica. I realised i wasnt really happy with just hearing about it from someone else, i wanted to do it myself. But is where the idea came from. Over the last ten years it has been great to include as many women as possible and make it an all female team. To include as many women as possible and make it an allfemale team. Tell us about taking part in it, what we most looking forward to . The first hints of antarctica, stepping off the plane and seeing the place you had read and dreams about. Seeing the whiteness, the ice, the blue sky and the endlessness of the sky, that is what we have missed since weve been home. You have beautiful blue sky this morning but i imagine its quite a different scene you obviously had to train massively for this, what was the toughest thing about the training . We did a three week exercise out in norway, where we carried everything that we needed to survive for those three weeks, all of our tent equipment and food. That was tough but some of the hills are a lot steeper than some of the stuff we had in antarctica, we really pushed ourselves on that, so that we were prepared when we went to antarctica. We talked a bit about the lovely things, what was the toughest thing . The cold, the wind laughter i think, for the team. One of the toughest things was the mental side of it. Because we had beautiful skies, but every day was the same. For 61 days, we had to get up and do the same thing over and over. Particularly at the very beginning when we were delayed by the weather for so long, it was that mental test of, are we actually going to be able to start and finish within the time frame that weve got . That aside was one of the hardest things for the team. That side. One of the hardest things for the team. That side. Teamwork and Everything Else is incredibly important in that sort of environment. Definitely. I really felt that. I was a bit ill at the start and was unable, to one point, to pull my weight so the girls had to take my weight so the girls had to take my weight of me to allow me to continue. Fortunately, i recovered and carried on to finish the expedition. Without that teamwork and without being able to be so honest with all of the team, i dont think i would have made it through. Definitely, the teamwork makes it work. You talked a bit about it being an all female team. That is a message you want to get across in some ways, you want to encourage other women into sport but perhaps not this extreme, though . Laughter imean not this extreme, though . Laughter i mean maybe some will go this extreme but it started off initially asjust encouraging extreme but it started off initially as just encouraging women within the military to get involved in adventurous training and pushing themselves mentally and physically. But as it grew and more and more people got interested and told me they were being inspired by ed, it has expanded to notjust they were being inspired by ed, it has expanded to not just women they were being inspired by ed, it has expanded to notjust women in the military but outside. Inspired by it. But men, women, boys and girls, to find their antarctica, find something that pushes them physically and mentally. Asi as i was saying, i am not sure whether people at home heard it or not because we had problems with the signal, we are used to coming up and taking a photo but you would never think of recording sound. You wouldnt. Its an amazing place, dartmoor is full of sound, the landscape scenes. But if some of the things we want to capture with this the landscape hum. We want to get the sounds of this landscape out there. And to get those sounds recorded by people who live here, people from the communities. Getting them involved, skilling them up and had to make radio, everybody in this community can be radio makers. People will be able to make their own radio documentaries . They can make their own content, absolutely. We think we have a lot of interest in this area for people to do that. To really celebrate the soundscape of dartmoor. Good stuff. Lucinda, nothing in life is free. If you dont have advertisers and you dont have a license fee like the bbc does, how will you pay for it . We are looking for funding, we will apply for grants, working in partnership with lots of other organisations and we will do fun things like wonderful holidays people can come to to work with us and that will help fund the project. It is important that everybody in the community has a voice through this project and that people can meet one another, learn from one another and we feel that will enrich peoples lives, especially if they are very isolated, living on dartmoor.
