Hello and welcome to sportsday imjohn watson. On the way tonight. Suspicion hangs over sprint World Championjustin gatlin as the head of world anti doping calls for evidence to be produced. Can anyone stop Pep Guardiolas Manchester City this season . The latest to try, will be Leicester City in tonights League Cup Quarter final. And we meet the man who made his name in darts 35 years ago. And hes threatening to again at the age of 63. Justin gatlin, who powered to world 100 metres gold in the summer, facing allegations of doping. An athletics agent alleged the sprinters using performance enhancing drugs, while his coach Dennis Mitchell told undercover reporters he could secure and administer banned substances. Gatlins reputaion tarnished by two previous bans for doping, looked to have been somewhat restored in london. But today he sacked his coach and denied any wrongdoing. Natalie pirks has more. Four months ago he stunned the world, beating usain bolt to become World Champion. Butjustin gatlin is ending a brilliant year under suspicion. It stems from a video of undercover reporters from the telegraph newspaper at his florida training camp. The paper claims his coach and an athletics agent, Robert Wagner, offered to supply and administer performance enhancing drugs to an actor training for a film. The video apparently shows Robert Wagner insinuating that gatlin is taking banned substances. Both Robert Wagner and gatlin deny the claims. The 35 year olds legal representatives added that the sprinter had more than five years of official drugs tests to show he had never tested positive for any banned substance. Gatlin himself released this statement earlier. I am not using and have not used performance enhancing drugs. I was shocked and surprised to learn that my coach would have anything to do with even the appearance of these current accusations. I fired him as soon as i found out about this. The fired coach is Dennis Mitchell, here in the green t shirt. He allegedly said athletes could get away with doping because the drugs used could not be detected by tests. Mitchell, a former 0lympic medallist with a chequered past involving banned substances denies that he ever suggested that any of his current athletes used any drugs. But for those fighting forfair sport it is another blow to integrity. If we want sport to be credible so we need to do a lot more to improve the immediacy of the sanctioning system in order that we are actually making sure that what people see, they can believe in. The Us Anti Doping Agency said its only fair to let due process occur before jumping to any conclusions but after serving two drugs bans in the past gatlin is rarely afforded the benefit of the doubt. Natalie pirks, bbc news. Well earlier i spoke to the president of wada, crag reedie who called on the Daily Telegraph to hand over their evidence to investigators. And disputed the claims made by gatlins coach and the agent. I hope first of all that the journalist from the telegraph will make Information Available to the investigators, probably initially from the integrity unit. We have beenin from the integrity unit. We have been in touch with them and the United States people and we offer assistance if we can. I think it will concentrate on the allegations that everybody is using it. It is an easy allegation to make but needs to be tied down. Im not sure the evidence exists to support that. But if you do not have a proper investigation, you need to have evidence before you start. I think we are now more sophisticated, not saying that our world is perfect but i think it is better than what mr mitchell is accused of saying. The first of the League Cup Quarter finals takes place this evening, leicester have the unenviable task of taking on Manchester City for a place in the last four. More on that match in a moment, but lets start with the much improved west ham who visit arsenal. Conor mcnamara and Kevin Kilbane look ahead to this one. West ham certainly seem to have steadied the ship under new manager david moyes. Kevin, you played under david moyes. Kevin, you played under david moyes, what will he have done . Well i think the one thing he tries to instil in his side is a clean sheet, get a clean sheet and build oii sheet, get a clean sheet and build on it. At goodison park they took it to the etihad, they lost the game but you had signs of positive deep from that and they have had clean sheet since then. And now were seeing the signs of a real david moyes side coming to the fore. Not just about defending, now were starting to see a more expressive attacking side. Well up until now it has been about keeping west ham in the premier league but david moyes says he would love to reach a cup final. Weve got some injuries at the moment and i think we would have changed one too because undoubtedly the priority is make sure we get in the priority is make sure we get in the premier league. But i would love to get to a cup final. Every game i go to to get to a cup final. Every game i gotoi to get to a cup final. Every game i go to i want to win. David moyes there who brings his west ham team here to arsenal this evening for this quarterfinal. And we should see a return to the west ham team this evening forjoe hart who has been arrested in recent league games. But what kind of pressure will he be feeling six months until the world cup . I think he has felt pressure all season, his move did not quite go to plan. Coming back he is under more scrutiny, at the etihad. I think every game puts pressure on him and he is starting to feel that even more in the last couple of weeks as he was dropped from the side. I think you will want to put in some kind of display. Produce a calm and collected performance. But when he has been thrown into games he has not produced his best form lately so pressure on him this evening and he will need all his experience to get through the game tonight. Well arsenal against west ham, we look forward to it, 7 45pm kick off. No ones managed to beat Manchester City this season domestically, but can leicester achieve what no other team has . Theyve got a good record in this competition, reaching three finals in the late 90s. Ian stringer looks ahead to this one. They were talking european football, Europa League here at the king power stadium on saturday before a disappointing defeat against crystal palace. Well a place in europe is up for grabs of course in the league cup, this is the quarterfinal stage and what a draw but the foxes. Technologist city. Harry maguire is expecting a busy night. This year they have been remarkable, we played them at the king power and they are them at the king power and they are the best team weve played this year. Im sure everyone will say the same. But we have great confidence fiow same. But we have great confidence now and we can try to get through to the next round. We have attacking players in the team that can score goals so we will not be sitting back. It is a great occasion, the quarterfinal and i look forward to it. Well Pep Guardiola still on for the quadruple. The folk of leicester will no doubt be hoping. Expect some changes given the packed schedule in the premier league especially in the festive period. It could go to extra time on penalties. Leicester city have lost their last three shoot outs. A man has been arrested by Police Investigating allegations Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling was the subject of a hate crime. Sterling was reported to have been racially abused and attacked on saturday after arriving at citys training ground. Greater Manchester Police said they arrested a 29 year old on suspicion of racially aggravated assault. West ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini has been given a two match ban by the Football Association for diving during Saturdays Premier League win at stoke. Lanzini won the penalty, which put them i nil up in the 3 nil victory. Watford captain troy deeney has been banned for four games after losing an appeal against the red card he received during saturdays 4 1 defeat to huddersfield. The striker was shown a straight red card for a lunge in the 33rd minute. Not a great week in cricket england bowler craig 0verton says he believes the side are not far off winning games despite having just lost the ashes to australia. 0verton went off with a cracked rib as they lost the third test in perth, and is a major doubt for the fourth game in melbourne. Were still pretty confident and we re were still pretty confident and were not far off winning games. They have just performed for better and longer periods than we have. We know what weve got to do in the last two games coming up. Take a few more wickets and france. Simple as that. What is the mood in the england camp . What is the mood in the england , what is the mood in the england camp . Were still fighting to get that result and show everyone what we can do. What have you learned from playing about cricket here in australia . It is tough, they are a good side and their bowlers are suited to playing out here. Is this a glimpse of the football future with women coaching men . It is certainly a football first for scotland. European governing body uefa, the official coaching course but for women only. We try to keep players involved and that is something that is prevalent in the mens game. We want to try to replicate that in the womens game. The scottish Football Association hopes to address a relative lack of female managers at the European Championship this year, of the 16 teams taking part only five are managed by women. The english fa are seeking someone to manage their womens team and say theres plenty of candidates in the pool but not a lot are women. In the last year weve seen 1040 female attendees at oui weve seen 1040 female attendees at our coach education courses, previously we have about 600 so that isa previously we have about 600 so that is a big increase. We getjust over 10,000 generally speaking annually so 10,000 generally speaking annually so to get over 1000 female attendees is excellent. If a female figurehead as National Coach in scotland, is a growing the game among girls as a priority . We just had 17 girls taking part on a course appear and i think next year plans for a bespoke girls only coach education qualification. So the support here in scotland is fantastic with up for the current scotland manager at things ticking along nicely. They have played three and 13 so far on her watch. The coach, the course is still looking forward to seeing a successof still looking forward to seeing a successor for the male coach. Now how about this for a story. Paul lim the man behind me is 63 years old. But instead of looking towards retirement, hes looking towards the second round of the pdc world darts championship. Lim, known as the singapore slinger is famous for the first televised nine dart finish in darts history. It came in the bdo version of the World Championship back in 1990 when he was competing for the usa. But despite having made his world debut 35 years ago, lim still has it he stunned the seeded mark webster 3 2, to reach round two of the pdc World Championship at Alexandra Palace last night.
