Why be a lawmaker when you can be a linesman. The mp who tonight is trading in parliament for the pitch. Get in touch with us using the hashtag. beyond one hundred days. Welcome. Im katty kay in new york, Christian Fraser is in london. The death of four us servicemen in niger is sad enough sadder still is that their deaths have become so politicised. A democratic congresswoman who overheard a call between donald trump and the widow of one of the soldiers is accusing the president of insensitivity. Sergeant la David Johnson died two weeks ago when his platoon was attacked by extremists linked to so called Islamic State. Mrsjohnson was on the way to receive her husbands casket when she took the call from the president. The congresswoman said mrsjohnson was upset mr trump told her that her husband knew what he was getting into. Idid not i did not say what that congresswoman said, i did not say what she said. I would like to make the statement again because i did not say what she said. I had a very nice conversation with the wife who sounded like a lovely woman. Did not say what the congresswoman said and most people are not surprised to hear that. The bbcs north america editor jon sopeljoins us now. The president says that he has proof that what the congresswoman said about the conversation is not true. We do not know what the proof is. How did we get to this position . M is one of those stories and as you indicated in the headlines, you almost feel you need to take a shower after dealing with it. It is the most personal tragic set of circumstances where a woman who is pregnant with her third child is grieving over coughlan and yet almost in real time a political dogfight is playing out. Over who said what and when. It certainly is true that Frederick Wilson was in the car when the president telephoned and it was on speakerphone. She claims the president said those things. It has also been confirmed by the mother of David Johnson as well to the Washington Post that the president had been disrespectful. You have a president who says that is simply not true and i have proof. One way to clear it up is for the proved to be given of course but i guess it underlines that the president politicised this on monday when he talked about how he had been better at dealing with the victims of Service Personnel who had died than his predecessors and barack obama. We then get a report will under congresswoman, democratic congresswoman saying that the president mishandled it. And in the middle of this family grieving, with the glare of the world now on them. And it is pretty distasteful frankly. And he politicised it and then in some way tried to claw back but then on radio he went after it again and then he brings into the argument is chief of Staffjohn Kelly whose son was killed in afghanistan in 2010 and an extremely private issue for his chief of staff. Yes and you feel, sometimes you just think there must be some things that are off the agenda for politics, that you cannot go near this, you have to do things in a seemly way. And maybe the private grief of the family is one of those things. Of course the president has got, he has on this because he went after the mother of another service family. So it just after the mother of another service family. So itjust seems that there are times when if the president feels he is under attack, he will defend himself by means possible and what were now seeing is this being played out in a way that is unseemly. Effectively in the stand off with the family of a fallen soldier, not the place where you would like to be. Us attorney generaljeff sessions told us senators today that he hasnt been questioned about the russia investigation by the special prosecutor, bob mueller. Plenty of other people now have. Heres what we know about the current state of that 5 month old investigation. Its examining. Alleged collusion between the Trump Campaign and moscow. Trumps financial ties to russia. Possible obstruction ofjustice by members of the white house. Among those of interest to the special council. The president s son, donald trump junior. His son in lanared kushner. His former Campaign Manager paul manafort. And his ex National Security adviser michael flynn. So far muellers team has interviewed Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein this summer. Former chief of staff Reince Priebus last week. And the ex press Secretary Sean Spicer on monday. Theyve also interviewed christopher steele, the one time m16 agent who compiled a dossier on Donald Trumps links with russia. More people being interviewed, how close is this getting nailed to the White House Well you start off describing the people that are being interviewed and you think theyre quite a way away and almost as the list of names worked on and you Start Talking about press Secretary Sean Spicer, the former chief of staff, that is very close. Youre right in the heart of the west wing of the white house. And sean spicer a p pa re ntly of the white house. And sean spicer apparently questioned for most of monday, Reince Priebus for a day last week. And you see it is getting closer and closer and closer. Of course everyone is closer and closer and closer. Of course everyone is getting ready to defend their position, the official line from the attorney generaljeff sessions, he wants bob mueller to continue his enquiry and for it to be successful, to be wrapped up very quickly. But i would imagine in the white house there is a good deal of oui white house there is a good deal of our knees as it gets closer and closer to the oval office. And this is something that is on a slow burning fuse, but has not gone away. It has not been extinguished. It may not be in the headlines in the way it was six months ago when it felt like a baby drama, but this is still going on. Daily drama. Thank you very much. And we had a picture there sean spicer scribbling in a notebook. He did take copious notes when he was in the job and you would think that is a dream for an investigator. But there is this divergence of opinion in washington as to what will come of the bob mueller investigation. Yes and sean spicer, although he was press secretary, he was never an inside favourite of the president. He was often sidelined in meetings. The present they want to interview his Communications Director who has been with donald trump since the campaign began. She knew what was going on in many of the conversations. The divergence is you have people who are absolutely convinced in washington that bob mueller is going to lead to the downfall of donald trump, not all democrats, republicans have told me that as well. And people especially on the legal side saying that it looks unlikely that they will be any kind of case brought by bob mueller. We will see which way it ends up. Bangladesh has announced plans to build the biggest refugee camp in the world to accommodate almost a million Rohingya Muslims from myanmar. And half that number of rohingya have fled myanmar in just the past two months. A senior British Government official says claims of ethnic cleansing in myanmar are increasingly accurate. Tonight thousands more Rohingya Refugees are spending a fourth night stranded close to the bangladesh border. Clive myrie is there and has this report. In the distance in myanmar, where rohingya villages have burned in recent weeks, and the people have been driven out, theres another fire. Its ethnic cleansing, says the un. And the purged are fleeing for their lives into neighbouring bangladesh. Translation in my village, many were killed. But my son had just been born. So we have only now been able to escape. As we drew closer to the border, nothing had prepared us for the full extent of the days exodus. Almost as far as the eye could see, left and right, a tide of humanity. Between 10,000 and 15,000 people had crossed the border in one night. Young and old, hungry, exhausted, traumatised. And for the weak, its a painful journey into exile with the searing heat stinging the skin infection of this child beneath an unrelenting sun. As you can see, theyre carrying with them whatever they could salvage from their villages and homes, that they say they were burnt out by the Myanmar Military. Look at that little baby there in a basket. And theres another one here on the other side. So many Young Children we are seeing here today, this has to be one of the biggest single day influxes of refugees from across the borderjust over there in the whole of this crisis. This day old baby has no name. In the frenzy to cross the border his mother went into labour, now his parents must find him food as well as a name. I begged god to save us, her husband mohammed tells me, we hadnt eaten for two days and she went into labour. I dont know what will happen to my baby now. Since august, while over 500,000 Rohingya Refugees have crossed into bangladesh. Experienced humanitarian workers says they have seen nothing like it. Ive seen a lot of these crises around the world, and i really wasnt quite prepared for the degree of suffering, and despair. And yet, these people are very resilient, they have not lost hope. They still think that they can make a life again in their home country, and it simply doubles our resolve to go back and find more resources for them until we can bring them home. For the bangladeshis, the mass influx of so many refugees is difficult to control. After a delay, these Rohingya Muslims should begin moving to an established refugee camp in the coming days. The border remains open, but for those still wanting to escape myanmar, the fear is that soon the gates could shut. Tens of thousands are already massing on the frontier, ready to make their dash for survival. And clivejoins us now from coxs bazar along the border. 15,000 in the last couple of days. 600,000 in the last couple of months. There is a line on reuters that the United Nations said today they have yet to decide whether the violence against the rohingya constitutes genocide. Yes, you know amnesty international, human rights watch, International Observers have been keeping an eye on the crisis. They have been taking the statement isa they have been taking the statement is a testimony of people who have been crossing from myanmar into bangladesh and painstakingly cataloguing what theyre saying about the violence on the other side of the border. The fact is the testimony is consistent, this seems to bea testimony is consistent, this seems to be a pattern developing. Militia groups allied to the Myanmar Military or the military themselves, the troops themselves, go into villages and get everyone out. There are allegations of rape, many of the families are robbed at the same time so families are robbed at the same time so they lose their possessions. Men are taken away and shot. And then their villages are burned. Now several people over the last few months, hundreds of people, have made the same allegations in relation to what is going on. The un has already said they believe that this is a classic example, a textbook example of ethnic cleansing. And one refugee, a 15 year old i spoke to a couple of days ago, i said to her if the situation improved in your homeland would you want to go back. And she said it has been dire for the whole of my life, 15 years, and for my family going back generations. The buddhists have always treated as badly, we have always been second class citizens and have never had the kind of rights that ordinary other people have in the country. And now theyre trying to kill us all. She firmly believes it is genocide, many other people are beginning to think that way. But were a long way off proving that thatis were a long way off proving that that is what is happening across the border myanmar. So what are the chances then that those refugees will be able to return home any time soon . It is a good question, no one knows. I spoke to the head of the International Organisation for migration who is in the country, actually he has just left but has been here for the past few days. He said everything that they are doing is geared towards trying to facilitate a lot of the people who have crossed the border going back to where theyre from. But the fact is there going back to villages that had burnt out and is their boredom. The chances of that happening, any kind of repatriations, seems a long way away. The fuzzy line between Donald Trumps presidency and his business dealings is now a question for an american court. Mr trump stepped down from running his Business Empire before he was inaugurated and handed control to his sons. But there are still questions about whether thats enough separation and whether the Trump Organisation is benefiting from the fact that he is president of the United States. Theres never been a president with such huge business interests. And mr trump is right when he says that under the law president s are exempt from conflicts of interest laws. But under the Us Constitution he is still forbidden from accepting gifts or benefits from foreign powers. Thats what this suit is about. The bbcs Samira Hussain is outside the courthouse here in new york. What is the chance that this lawsuit will answer the question of whether donald trump is engaged in some kind of conflict of interest about his business . That is really the question that is trying to be a nswered question that is trying to be answered right now. The hearing took place earlier today and lasted about three and a half hours. The central question is whether or not anyone here actually has standing, have they really suffered as the result of President Trump Still Holding these business interests. And if you ta ke these business interests. And if you take a step back and look more broadly at what is at stake, we are asking the question of whether or not the president of the United States can be both president and international businessman. So the question of course is before the judge and he will rule in 30 or 60 days whether or not the court case can go through. When that does happen, the implications could be quite serious. For the president. Depending on how this goes. At some point it is possible the court could say look, you must divest yourself of any of your business entanglements and that could be very tricky. Or they could also require the president to release his tax returns, something he has been relu cta nt to returns, something he has been reluctant to do so far. Do not hold your breath for that one expect thank you very much. During his five years as chinas president , xijinping has overseen an era of increased assertiveness and authoritarianism. Hes now viewed as the most powerful leader since mao. And with the confidence of a man whos in full control at home, he has cast his eyes overseas. Speaking at the communist Party Congress president xi unveiled a vision for a new era where China Takes Centre Stage in the world. John sudworth reports from beijing. The rain wasnt the greatest of omens. The communist party is meant to be able to control the weather. But inside, nothing could be allowed to dampen the mood. In a speech tinged with nationalism xi jinping struck an optimistic tone and insisted that only the communist party could fulfil chinas rightful destiny. Translation lets strive hard to build a wealthy society and achieve the victory of chinese socialism, realise the chinese dream of the great rejuvenation and fulfil peoples expectations for a better life. While state media carries wall to wall coverage of the congress, the rest of china largely carries on as normal. I have no problem with a rising powerful china, this man tells me. But he adds, i hope one day we too can have democracy. For many the event is an inconvenience. For days now beijing has been in security overdrive with surveillance stepped up and neighbourhood patrols sent out in force. There was once a hope that mr xi would be a political reformer. Instead he has spent his first term in office clamping down on dissent and purging his rivals. So the worlds biggest authoritarian state is confirming its leader in office for another five years. But for china watchers the interest is not in the system of course, but the man. Seen by many to be accruing more power to himself than any leader since chairman mao. At three and a half hours, this was a humdinger of a speech. Even mr xis predecessor hu jintao, touching his watch, appears to signal it could have been, well, a tad shorter. Despite the length, though, you dont have to look hard for the main message. The worlds second largest economy will remain firmly under the command of a one party state. And if anyone had any lingering doubts, mr xi has surely now swept them away. Linda yueh economist and broadcaster joins us now from westminster. You did not sit through all three hours . Tell us about what he has set out. Most politicians in the west would be lucky to get to the end of their first term and maybe a few yea rs their first term and maybe a few years down the line but he has set up years down the line but he has set upa years down the line but he has set up a platform taken as all the way to 2050. Yes i think hes trying to address some criticism that china has been under that they do not do enough Institutional Reforms to support the second biggest economy in the world. So even if he clings on to power beyond the second term as some speculate he might, his legacy by the end of the second term, he has set out to be setting china on a path of having a more Democratic Institution regime, a Prosperous Society in about 20 years and certainly moderately prosperous by about 2025. In other words he does not just deliver on by about 2025. In other words he does notjust deliver on the economics but hes trying to say he is also changing the fabric of Chinese Society and that is why he would deserve a place amongst the great symptoms of chinese leadership, and i were to some of the previous great. I did not sit through the full three hours but he did seem to put emphasis on raising Living Standards in china. Do you think there is some concern from the party that without doing that, the political control would slip away from them . Very much so, the role of the communist party is still largely based on legitimacy derived from delivering growth. Notjust gross but the reason why they are so focused on the target of becoming a Prosperous Society is that china has essentially aimed to become a rich country, overcoming the middle income country trap. That is a big challenge but it goes to the heart of what china is trying to do in transforming society. Talking about the chinese dream, that anyone can achieve that and in that sense the papers over some of the problems of growth, high levels of income inequality which has made some and especially in rural areas feel theyre not part of what the government is heading towards and when people like to feel economically elevated that is when political problems start. And that is why delivering Economic Prosperity and creating jobs, were focal points of the speech was up but the country or weeks carries a high level of debt and borrowing. What happens if that debt bubble bursts, what does that mean for the west . We lose a major engine of growth, china continues about one third of Global Economic growth and thatis third of Global Economic growth and that is a big hit to the World Economy and chinese banks, if they continue to expand overseas as we know theyre doing, even chinese banks in the uk are lending in terms of mortgages. We would feel that through the financial system. But most of the impact will be felt within china itself because almost all chinese debt is domestically owned. Think of it like japan where china will go through a long period of economic stagnation. But myjapan china is not the democratic country and the rhino safety valves for people who are unhappy if china has massive recession or depression. There are no safety valves. That is why there is so keen to focus on coping with reforming the financial system, with corruption, tackling back and delivering prosperity. That cements their ability to stay in power and that is probably the ultimate message from this national Party Congress. That we have delivered all these things and stick with us. Thank you for coming in. The 2017 forbes 400 has been released. This is a list of the most wealthy americans, who are all billionaires. Donald trump, a regular name on this list, has dropped 92 places in the last year. In 2016 he was on the list in 156th place with wealth of 3. 7bn and now on the 2017 list he has dropped to 248th place and his wealth has dropped down to an estimated 3. 1bn. Losing 600 million, quite careless i think rather sad for donald trump. 169 billionaires on the list, and they were too poor to make it onto they were too poor to make it onto the forbes list. You need to have 2 billion to get on and itjust shows you how rich some people are in this country. This is beyond 100 days from the bbc. Coming up for viewers on bbc news channel. In raqqa they are celebrating victory over Islamic State but how much danger do the militants still pose . And could there be yet another hitch in the Brexit Process . Well bring you the latest still ahead. Good evening. Potentialfor yet more windy weather coming our way through the rest of the week and the worst of the wind could come from this lump of cloud which has been across bermuda. Now moved into the atlantic and that will develop in the next 48 hours. But even before that arrives we have cloud around, a great day for england and wales today. Working tonight through north east. A lot of list and low cloud around to take is into tomorrow morning. But temperatures should not drop too much. A very grey start across many areas with patchy mist and fog around. We could see another rest of her brain working up from central and southern england towards the north east of england. But i decided that some bright weather around. Either side of that. Heavy rain and gusty wind pushing in. And we could have some gales around. That is on thursday night. More rain pushing north and east across the country as well so some wet weather to come going through the night and into friday morning. But temperatures are only 11, 13 degrees. Friday starts off damp and grey with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The breeze easing down. And Getting Better i think for many on friday. Not a huge amount of sunshine but some sunshine breaking through. But then the weekend arrives and the potential for yet more very arrives and the potential for yet more very windy and at times wet weather. So here comes the area of cloud, as the area of pressure. By the time it reaches our shores is becoming less potent but could still produce some problems on saturday especially across the southern part of the country with winds of up to 60 miles an hour. A bit of uncertainty as to its extent. Heavy rain to go with that. Wind picking up rain to go with that. Wind picking up across eastern rain to go with that. Wind picking up across eastern parts of the country. Wet and windy through the night and into sunday. Sunday is still some gales around boston coast and hills but after wet start, slowly brightening up. This is beyond 100 days. Our top stories. A debate over contacting the families of Fallen Soldiers gets ugly with President Trump and a congresswoman trading accusations. Didnt say what that congresswoman said. Didnt say it at all. She knows it and she is now not saying it. Idid knows it and she is now not saying it. I did not say what she said. Chinas National Congress kicks off with an address of three hours by the president , leaving no doubt about his position. And after victory over Islamic State in raqqa, now comes the tough part, brokering peace. And why is one amendment to the Us Constitution getting so much attention these days . We break down what the 25th could been for politics. In 2014 the so called Islamic State has control over 10 Million People in syria and iraq. This week with the fall of raqqa, the dream of a medieval style caliphate is in ruins. But does not mean the group is finished, farfrom it. Their elusive leader is still issuing tastes and inciting violence as recently as last week. Issuing tapes. There are active franchises in in iraq, syria, afghanistan, libya, yemen and africa. We are aqua we we re libya, yemen and africa. We are aqua we were in 2014, syria is at war, iraq is as divided as ever, the United States, russia, turkey and iran have their own interests in the region. We speak the former defence secretary william cohen. Thank you for joining secretary william cohen. Thank you forjoining us. Do you agree with this notion that we are back where we we re this notion that we are back where we were before isis took over those large swathes of land so suddenly in syria and iraq . I think it is too early to claim victory here over isis. Isis is like mercury on a mirror, you press down in iraq and are mirror, you press down in iraq and a re successful mirror, you press down in iraq and are successful in raqqa but you press down and it spreads elsewhere so it seems to me that its much like Robert De Niro in raging bull, you may have knocked me down but you havent knocked me out. I think we havent knocked me out. I think we have to keep our focus on counterterrorism wherever it is, wherever it threatens us but it isnt going away. They may have lost territory on land but they havent lost control of the minds of too many people who have that ideology in mind to bring terror into the lives of millions of other people. |j guess the significance of losing raqqa beyond the symbol of a capital is they have lost operational ground as well and the ability to train people there. How would you impractical terms expect isis to carry on operating and causing disruption and terror now . They will go underground, to the extent that there are those who are surviving according to estimates i have seen, anywhere from six to 10,000 isis soldiers are still in existence in various parts of either iraq or syria or elsewhere and so they will either lower their profile and wait to see how long the United States and the west and other countries are able to sustain the effort to build and rebuild societies as such and this raises the question with raqqa, now what . You have a city, half of which has been decimated, you have displacement of 232 250,000 people who are coming back to a city which has been levelled for radical purposesin has been levelled for radical purposes in terms of its infrastructure and then you have the tribal interests and who is going to be in charge and that has got to be worked out politically and so there isa worked out politically and so there is a long way to go before we see real stability really established in that part of the middle east so i think it was a major victory in terms of the military aspects of it but again we have still got to be very vigilant about what next and that means pouring money, re sources and helping to rebuild infrastructure and trying to put peoples lives back together, this is not just we peoples lives back together, this is notjust we beat isis and they are defeated because not only are they still in existence in other parts of the world, they are also the loan walls coming back from raqqa and other places they are the lone wolves coming back. Its difficult for the americans to do much in syria because they are still at war but in iraq the war is coming to an end. The reason why Islamic State were able to get such a foothold is because the populations in iraq who were sunni trusted them more than their own government so the question is what sort of control and power do the americans had to shift the government in bad dad . Well, ultimately shift the government in bad dad . Well, ultimately shift the government in baghdad. Well, ultimately shift the government in baghdadm well, ultimately shift the government in baghdad. It has to be up government in baghdad. It has to be up to the people in iraq we will wa nt to up to the people in iraq we will want to say we need a Political Coalition that can govern the country without going back to fighting sunni against shia again and excluding shia from governments in the country. If that happens we are back to where we work and it will just start over. Are back to where we work and it willjust start over. It is incumbent upon the leadership of iraq to say we want a better life, we need to work with each other and not continue this divide that separates us unless that happens there is not much the United States can do all the other parties involved. If the iraqi people have been given a chance after chance and this is one they have to go forward on and say lets see if we can make it work this time. Thank you very much for being with us. I wish is to thinking today about when i reported in iraq, one of the worst things i ever saw in iraq was the murder of the american murdered in 2004, headed there beheaded, that was 13 years ago so we have been going through this cycle year after year since 2004 and one of the reasons has been that the sunnis are so deeply fragmented and suspicious of their own government they now throw into that these shia backed by iran that we have seen in the last week and they have really big problems, the iraqis, and you wonder how they are going to engender some trust because if suspicion begins to fester again then splits will re emerge and these groups will find support again. Yes, and less lead the global reach they have managed to achieve. We have been talking about other countries in africa as well as niger. Sources in the uk tell the bbc there could be another hitch in the Brexit Process. They say that the governments eu withdrawal bill a key piece of legislation that transfers eu law into british law ahead of brexit may not now be debated in the house of commons until next month at the earliest, and possibly not even before the end of the year. The bill faces stiff opposition in parliament with critics claiming it takes too much power away from mps. Lets go over live to the houses of parliament and find out more the bbcs Political Correspondent vicki young is there. A lot of debate today, whether the government has missed a timetable here. This is one of those classics where everyone was expecting this ill, the eu withdrawal bill which moves ill, the eu withdrawal bill which m oves a cross ill, the eu withdrawal bill which moves across all of that eu law and legislation into uk law. We were expecting it last week, now it turns out it will not be until mid or the end of november said the government is able to save we hadnt announced any date so therefore there is no delay but everyone around here knows that something is up and what has happened is that there are mps, some on the government side as well as Opposition Mps who will put down lots of amendments and changes they wa nt to lots of amendments and changes they want to make to this fast piece of legislation. They want to use it try and watered down powers the government has, someone to use it to write into law a transition deal. They also want to make sure this place gets a vote on that final deal if there is one so it has run into a bit of trouble, one source saying to the bbc there is not enough political agreement yet but they claim they will be able to get to it in the next few weeks. What are the knock on effects of this because this is the foundation of the Brexit Process , we this is the foundation of the Brexit Process, we have got to get through this bill. What happens if they dont get it in the time frame, i know they say they didnt have one but if they did get it in the time frame, people expected, what happens . This is the stage of the bill which is the real line by line look at the detail and it can take a long time, notjust in the house of commons, which is the lower chamber, but in the house of lords where they could really dig their heels in, so the idea was to get this through the house of lords may be by next spring to give certainty to people, businesses that, you know, we wont have this big app in the law when we leave the eu in 2019 this big gap in the law. It is a sign if you ever needed one that theresa may, the prime minister, is fighting on two fronts, negotiating with eu leaders, trying to get a deal and move on to that next age. We are told by the youth that is deadlocked at the moment and here the opposition parties are saying that on the domestic side the government is paralysed because at the moment they are getting onto the first step of that legislative journey. We will be covering the leaders meeting which begins tomorrow, theresa may travelling to that. President trumps latest travel ban has been blocked by a second federaljudge. Hawaii and maryland have now issued restraining orders on the bill which bars citizens of eight countries from entering the us. Both judges say that despite the inclusion of venezuela and north korea, the order still resembles a muslim ban. A member of Kenyas Electoral Commission has fled to the us after receiving death threats. Roselyn akombe said that the commission is under political siege. Next week kenya is heading to a tense president ial election re run after the Supreme Court annulled the results of the original vote in august for irregularities. President trump has lashed out again at the nfl for not forcing players to stand during the National Anthem. Nfl owners and players met to discuss the issue but they couldnt reach an agreement. President trump has repeatedly criticised Football Players who kneel during the National Anthem as a protest against racial inequality. Now, to the growing fallout surrounding the Harvey Weinstein scandal. The head of Amazon Studios its film and Television Business has resigned after being accused of harassing a producer. Roy price had also been facing claims that he did nothing after an actress told him that shed been sexually assaulted by mr weinstein. Its the latest twist in the story which is engulfing hollywood, as our entertainment correspondent lizo mzimba reports. Roy prices position as head of amazons multi billion dollar film and tv division made him one of entertainments most powerfulfigures. He has resigned after being accused of repeatedly sexually harassing a tv producer two years ago. It has been reported that british actress anna friel has also alleged he made unwanted advances towards her. And last week hollywood Actress Rose Mcgowan said she told price that she had been raped by Harvey Weinstein. And that price ignored her. Game of thrones star lena heady is the latest actress to accuse weinstein. She says she was left in tears after he attempted to invite her to his hotel room. A screen writer who worked at one of weinsteins companies for close to a decade has said weinsteins behaviour was well known. On social media Scott Rosenberg said, lets be perfectly Harvey Weinstein unequivocally denies any allegations of nonconsensual sex. The Hollywood Community is now calling for significant change. I feel empowered that we can actually do something about this and it feels amazing. Legal actions need to be put in place to protect people on film sets. And we just need to make a community of support where people feel like they can go and find support and find help. A social media request from Actress Alyssa Milano to respond, me too, if people have been sexually assaulted or harassed, has led to an outpouring from hundreds of thousands ranging from celebrities to members of the public. The multiple allegations against Harvey Weinstein are being investigated in america and the uk. The head of amazon and therefore Amazon Studios as well was number two on that forbes list, quite few men in the last few days have said they think this story is getting much coverage, i have had no single woman suggest that, they all wanted to get more coverage. Yes, that is why we are covering it. Stumped use there this is beyond one hundred days. Still to come. Move on why are so many people talking about the constitutions 25th amendment these days . Well break down what it could mean for donald trump. The government has rejected a call for an inquiry and a ban on surgical mesh implants across the uk. Thats despite thousands of women being left in excruciating pain and life changing side effects as a result of the implants, according to campaigners. The mesh is used to treat incontinence and prolapse, often after childbirth. Tulip mazumdar reports. Sling the mesh after years of campaigning, women from all over the country are having their day in parliament. They are demanding a public enquiry into the use of the vaginal mesh implants. This is the type of plastic mesh that has been used in more than 130,000 women. It is inserted into the pelvis and at as a sling to support organs including the joiner, bowel and bladder. The official convocation rate is between one and 396 convocation rate is between one and 3 but a recent Study Suggests it is actually closer to 10 . Today in parliament, mp after mps did up and recounted ever stating stories from women in their constituencies devastating stories. Campaigns like this are happening all across the country, in Scotland Health authorities suspended the use of mesh during a review. In Northern Ireland clinicians are conducting their own audit across all Health Authorities and in wales a working group is being set up to famine this issue. Hundreds of women have started taking legal action against the manufacturers of these devices. Companies in the us have already paid out hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation. Here, one of the manufacturers, johnson and johnson, said. The campaigners didnt get the public enquiry they were calling for but that rudman says it will publish new guideline advising but the government says it will publish new guidelines. Have you recovered . I have reduced due to silence, which must be an absolute first a few moments ago assuming you have recomposed yourself, we will move on. There are 27 amendments to the Us Constitution but these days the third to last is getting a lot of attention. Its become everything from a hash tag on twitter to a rallying cry. Added in 1967 it deals with succession to the presidency. The Bbcs Rajini Vaidyanathan has been having a closer look for us. Will Donald Trumps presidency last eight full four years question but one of his closest former advisers believes there is a 30 chance of him lasting until 2020 and that is because of something called the 25th amendment. Well, it is one way a president can be read from office. We often hear about impeachment, process which gives congress the power to oust a president. With the 25th amendment, it is the president s own cabinet colleagues who can stick the knife in. Well, the majority of President Trumps cabinet would need to come together plus the Vice President and sign a letter declaring that president is unfit to govern or, in the official words, is. Well, thats a good question but many say that is where the president is mentally or physically unable to do thejob. That is mentally or physically unable to do the job. That is open to interpretation. Once that letter is to live to congress and the Vice President automatically becomes acting president , the president would also be offered the chance to give a written response in defence of himself. Then it is up to congress to decide and it would take a two thirds majority of the senate and the house for any change of power to actually go ahead. Well, the odds of that happening are fairly slim. Even though President Trumps cabinet seem to be dropping like flies he is still very much the public support of his Vice President mike pence who is unlikely to sign any mike pence who is unlikely to sign a ny letter mike pence who is unlikely to sign any letter trying to get rid of him and then there is congress, which is republican controlled and also unlikely to get rid of their president. And lastly, history. Maybe before has the 25th amendment been used to depose a sitting president never before has the 25th amendment been used to depose a sitting president. The bbcs north america reporter anthony zurcherjoins us now. I have two admit, i have been thinking yes, were talking about this, it is never going to happen but in the last few days i have been hearing more serious people saying you never know, it might do. There are people who have been questioning Donald Trumps mental health, in every presidency you secret expression in the president S Mental Health but there are people saying that and using that to say the 25th amendment was designed before an incapacitated president who cant carry out the Duties Office to be moved but even the 25th amendment is a political act and the have to be political will behind it, the same with impeachment and impeachment is ha rd with impeachment and impeachment is hard enough, you need a majority of the house and two thirds of the senate. To use the 25th amendment and you need a majority in the cabinet, people donald trump appointed and then a majority in the house and then two thirds in the senate so that is a very long and winding road, even a higher bar to reach than simple impeachment which i think that is what the Founding Fathers in vision and as a reading a president who committed crimes was unable to president who committed crimes was u na ble to successfully president who committed crimes was unable to successfully fulfil the duties of office. So we are unlikely to get that betrayal moment but what happens if the republicans fight among themselves as they seem to be doing all the way up to the mid terms and they lose control of the house. I think that is a much more realistic possibility, if you see a midterm away the election like we saw in 2010 with republicans sweeping control of the House Democrats in 2006 who took control of the house, that could happen next year. It is not beyond the realm of possibility. If democrats take control of the house of representatives next year, the following year when there are actually in power, i think you might see a lot of people within their own party call for the impeachment of donald trump for actions that we have already seen and again i need to point out, impeachment, even though it is a process bowed out in the constitution, it is a political act. All you need to do is have a majority of house of representatives and they can at least send it to the senate but the last time the president was impeached was in 1998 when ill clinton took a majority of the house of representatives, it could certainly happen again. |j remember it well. Anthony, on the west coast of america, east coast and europe, they are asking for the specific date whenjohn trump is going to be kicked out of office, there is also a scenario when he wins a second term and is an 80 president. Donald trump is an eight year president. When donald trump runs for re election, if he runs, he is already fundraising for his re election campaign, he will have the full power of the presidency behind him, unseating an incumbent president is difficult. We re incumbent president is difficult. Were not even at the end of year one, yet. There is a thought. Now as excuses for missing work go, this one is rather unusual. British mp douglas ross will be absent for a big vote in parliament this evening because hes at a European Champions League football match in barcelona. Hes not there as a fan though hes the assistant referee. The conservative mp for moray says he has his partys blessing to forsake the house of commons for the camp nou stadium where hell be running the line, while lionel messi and co will take on greek side olympiakos. But his political opponents are calling foul on his extra curricular activities the scottish National Party have labelled him two jobs ross and say he should blow the final whistle on his refereeing career. Actually, i just know actually, ijust know that is where you want to become a christian. There is a serious vote tonight in the house about welfare reform and people feel passionately about that but if you were to ask me as a football fan would i rather be in the commons or in the camp nou in barcelona it is a no brainer and i was thinking when they called him two jobs ross, how was thinking when they called him twojobs ross, how much is he actually earning from this job . Is he like multi jobs is born, cashing in from this job . Actually according to the registry of the commons he only earns £2700 from refereeing in scotla nd only earns £2700 from refereeing in scotland and europe, but he would miss a match at the camp nou . Yes, come on, its not the money, its the glory. Who wouldnt be there . That what i tell myself everyday when i get up for this programme, the money the call will come. We began this programme with one of Donald Trumps controversial political fights before we go heres another one. Mr trump is threatening to take on his nemesis Senatorjohn Mccain and when he does, he says it wont be pretty. This comes in response to mccains speech earlier this week decrying what he called half ba ked nationalism. And not very veiled criticism of the president. So today the senator was asked if the bust up means he will refuse to work with mr trump on anything. Has your relationship with the president reached a point where you are not going to support anything if he comes to you was yellow why would you Say Something that stupid . Why would you ask Something Like that . My would you ask Something Like that . Myjob is senator as arizona. Would you ask Something Like that . My job is senator as arizona. Isnt that great . I love that. That was a fox correspondence, wasnt it . |j great . I love that. That was a fox correspondence, wasnt it . I have been at the receiving end of plenty ofjohn mccain put downs, everyone in the media has been over the yea rs, in the media has been over the years, he has a very sharp tongue and isnt afraid to use it, thats why we like having him on the news because he says what he thinks. He is authentic. The idea he would say that was a dumb question was excellent. Not that there is any such thing, your questions are a lwa ys such thing, your questions are always sensible. Some of them are occasionally sensible, anyway. We are back same time tomorrow with more sensible questions from me at least. Until then, thanks very much for watching. Good night. The potential for yet more windy weather coming our way through the rest of the week and the worst of the wind could come from this lump of cloud which has been across bermuda. Now moved into the atlantic and that will develop in the next 48 hours. But even before that arrives we have cloud around, a grey day for england and wales today. Working tonight through the north east. A lot of mist and low cloud around to take us into tomorrow morning. But temperatures should not drop too much. A very grey start across many areas with patchy mist and fog around. We could see another area of rain working up from central and southern england towards the north east of england. But either side of that some bright weather around. Heavy rain and gusty wind pushing in. And we could have some gales around. That is on thursday night. More rain pushing north and east across the country as well so some wet weather to come going through the night and into friday morning. But temperatures are only around 11, 13 degrees. Friday starts off damp and grey with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The breeze easing down. And Getting Better i think for many on friday. Not a huge amount of sunshine but some sunshine breaking through. But then the weekend arrives and the potential for yet more very windy and at times wet weather. So here comes the area of cloud, as this area of pressure. By the time it reaches our shores it is becoming less potent but could still produce some problems on saturday especially across the southern part of the country with winds of up to 60 miles an hour. A bit of uncertainty as to its extent. Heavy rain to go with that. Wind picking up across eastern parts of the country. Wet and windy through the night and into sunday. Sunday still some gales around the coast and hills but after a wet start, slowly brightening up. This is bbc news. Im reeta chakrabarti. The headlines at 8pm. The ayes to the right, 299.
