In the age of coronavirus, inspirational speakers are still trying to get their ideas across; it’s just that they’re doing it online, not in person. They continue to give talks about their work, their passions and the state of the world. Catrin Nye is back with a new series, bringing us some of the best talks with a Welsh connection, and interviewing the speakers in-depth about their big idea. It’s food for the mind and inspiration for the soul.
This week: Catrin talks to three speakers with very different takes on the theme Dealing With Our Past. Giles Duley – a photographer who lost both legs and an arm in an explosion in Afghanistan – tells us how the experience affected him in a surprising way; campaigner against Female Genital Mutilation, Nimco Ali describes the psychological impact of what happened to her as a child; and historian William Dalrymple takes us on a shocking journey through Britain’s colonial past in India, starting at Powis Castle in Mid Wales.
