BASILE — Decades ago, the people of Basile passed a tax to fund improvements at its schools, and the money has been used in different ways over the years, from constructing a new high school in the '80s to providing 45 Promethean Titanium ActivPanels for the city's two schools this spring.
Installation of the panels, which operate like giant tablets, took place in January, and teachers at Basile High and W.W. Stewart Elementary have seen a noticeable difference over their "smartboard" predecessors that had become outdated.
"It made a difference right away," said Krystle Smith, who teaches seventh-grade math at Basile High. "It's the easiest piece of technology I've ever known."
