Bardstown marks 8 years since slaying of Officer Jason Ellis: 'We'll be here every year'

NOW YELLOW AND FADED REMAIN IN STORE FRONTS THE SACRIFICE NEVER FORGOTTEN. IT WAS ON THIS DAY IN 2013 BARDSTOWN POLICE OFFICER. JASON ELLIS WAS MURDERED. HE WAS AMBUSHED ON EXIT 34 OF THE BLUEGRASS. PARKWAY ON HIS WAY HOME FROM WORK. THERE ISN’T A DAY THAT GOES BAD THAT WE DON’T REMEMBER HONOR OR TALK ABOUT JASON THE DEPARTMENT WHERE ELLIS SERVED AS THE CANINE OFFICER OBSERVED THE SOMBER ANNIVERSARY TUESDAY ELLIS’S WIDOW AMY AND THE COUPLES TWO YOUNG SONS NOW, BOTH TEENAGERS WERE JOINED BY FIRST RESPONDERS AND FRIENDS FOR A RELAYING AT NELSON COUNTY’S FALLEN OFFICER MEMORIAL WHEN PEOPLE SHOW UP TO HELP US HONOR AND REMEMBER HIM THE WAY HE SHOULD BE HONORED AND REMEMBERED IT MEANS THE WORLD. IT MAKES US FEEL LIKE WE’RE NOT ALONE. AND WHILE THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED IN THE YEARS FOLLOWING THE OFFICERS MURDER IT QUICKLY BECAME A SPECIAL SPOT FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO COME AND HONOR HIM, ESPECIALLY ON THIS DAY AND THAT INCLUDES ELLIS’S MOTHER-IN-LAW WHO SAYS IT’S NOT HIS DEATH. SHE ONCE REMEMBERED BUT HIS LIFE AS A LOVING FATHER AND DEDICATED OFFICER. THAT’S WHY HE GOT INTO THIS PROFESSION. HE WANTED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. HE WANTED TO BE THAT GOOD. I’M JUST JEALOUS OF THE THOSE AROU THRONE TONIGHT AND ON TUESDAY THE GOOD HE DID WAS REMEMBERED AND A VOWED TO NEVER FORGET WAS RENEWED. I THINK IT’S JUST IMPORTANT TO LET AMY THE BOYS KNOW THAT WE’RE WE’RE STILL HERE. WE’RE GOING TO BE HERE EVERY YEAR THE HOPE IS NEXT YEAR WILL BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT AND WE’LL BRING THE ANSWERS THAT HAVE ALLUDED A GRIEVING FAMILY. HEARTBROKEN COMMUNITY FOR EIGHT LONG YEARS. HOPEFULLY ONE DAY SOMEONE WILL COME FORWARD WITH INFORMATION THAT THEY HAVE AND THAT'
