The usual highlights of the school break — pool parties and summer sleepovers — feel like relics from the time before. Roughly one in four kids has passed two birthdays in isolation. A grown-up asking about “big plans” would surely seem callously out-of-touch with the Groundhog Day reality of being in the same bubble 24/7. A day with big plans might involve dressing up the cat.
