Bar Harbor native wins an Oscar
Jefferson Hobbs wins an Engineering Emmy award in 2019 for sound processing software that earns his team an Oscar in 2021.

BAR HARBOR—Mount Desert Island High School and University of Maine graduate Jefferson Hobbs is among the winners of this year’s Scientific and Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
The award was given to iZotope, a software company in Cambridge, Mass., where the Bar Harbor native has worked for nine years. The nod was specifically for the development of the company’s RX sound processing software.
