The death last week of legendary producer Michael Gudinski added a tragic coda to 12 months most performers would rather forget. His memory was honoured at the gala opening of the Brunswick Ballroom – an attractive new hub for music, cabaret, comedy and more – that’s ready just as our stages come roaring back to life.
Talent needs enterprising producers and backers to succeed, and impresario Andrew Kay fits the mould. He was drawing up plans for the venue, a refurbishment of the old Metropolis House on Sydney Road, during the dark days of lockdown.
