JOHN DAY-- Citizens of John Day may have noticed recall ballots popping up in the mail recently as the Tuesday, Jan. 16 decision as to whether John Day Mayor Heather Rookstool gets to continue in her post or not nears.

Grant County Clerk Brenda Percy said ballots for the recall election went out on Dec. 27. Anybody who hasn’t yet received a ballot by the end of the week is urged call the clerk’s office so they can receive one prior to Election Day.

Ballots are to be dropped off at the Grant County Courthouse which maintains a 24 hour drop-off box outside as well as a ballot drop box inside during normal courthouse hours. Those who don’t want to make the trip to the Grant County Courthouse can simply mail their ballots.
