Approximately only 762,000 new homes were sold in 2021. Estimates from the Census Bureau and HUD reveal 2021's sales were 7.3% below the 2020 figure of 822,000. The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale was 403,000 at the end of December, representing a six-month supply at the current sales rate.
