4:30 a.m. update: The officer who was shot early Friday is in the hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Austin Police Chief Joe Chacon said.
Chacon said one suspect, described as a man in his late 20s to early 30s, was also struck by gunfire and suffered life threatening injuries, but added that the man is currently believed to be in stable condition at a medical facility.
A 911-caller around 12:03 a.m. Friday told authorities that they were in a vehicle and being chased and shot at by a different car, which Chacon described as a pickup truck. The caller was not injured in the incident, he added.
