A New Zealand homeowner is being sued for more than $292,000 after a planning error saw him build his new house right on his neighbour's boundary.
Deepak Lal had began building his three-bedroom dreamhouse in Papakura in Auckland's north when construction stopped in August 2020 when his contractors alerted him to the issue.
Development company C94 Development, who own the neighbouring house, have demanded the building either be moved back a metre or pay NZ$315,000 ($292,000) in damages.
Mr Lal employed Pinnacle Homes to build his house, who used HQ Designs to draw up the structural plans which were approved by Auckland Council. Mr Lal told the New Zealand Herald it is the council who are at fault.
