Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deactivated his Twitter account and criticised the social media company with his ‘final act’ on the platform on Tuesday evening, before making his return less than a day later.
The Arsenal captain posted: “Only football and super league? No more talking about Covid? Or Online abuse and racism” before shutting down his account.
He then returned to Twitter on Wednesday lunchtime, saying he “got a bit too emotional”.
Aubameyang had been due to meet with other Premier League captains on Wednesday to discuss the Super League proposals, before the proposals fell apart as clubs withdraw their participation.
