John and Denise Klaus lost their son Matthew Klaus to a heroin overdose in 2019 at the age of 32. Since then, John and Denise have turned their efforts to Matthew's Law, which would require the creation of a model confidential informant policy that would provide better protections for informants. John and Denise are pictured Monday, May 24, 2021, at their home in Oronoco. (Joe Ahlquist / jahlquist@postbulletin.com)
