On Friday, police in Atlanta announced that they’d arrested Anthony Stokes, a 57-year-old man whose ex-girlfriend went missing.
Stokes was apprehended on Wednesday and charged with murder. The man is suspected of killing Sean Macklin, a 56-year-old woman, with whom he was living. Investigations revealed that the two were at the tail end of their relationship.
On October 28, Stokes filed a short-term restraining order against Macklin. He notified FOX 5 that he’d offered to provide Macklin with finances so that she could find another place to stay. She was expected to move out on November 7.
Stokes denied any wrongdoing. He said he’d tried to inquire from her where she was heading to at 3:45 in the morning, but she never answered him. He tried to reach her via texts on Friday and Saturday to no avail. Stokes said he also noticed that Macklin’s car was still in the parking lot.
