Athens-Clarke police served notice Friday that beginning Monday, they will issue citations instead of warnings for speeding in three school zones monitored by cameras.
During a month-long warning period, police said more than 2,400 warnings were sent to the registered owners of vehicles that violated the speed limit in the school zones.
The cameras photograph offending vehicles in zones at Barnett Shoals Elementary, J.J. Harris Elementary and Whitehead Road Elementary schools.
