'Fatalities' on Australian roads at a time of year when families should be enjoying and spending time together is the 'worst sort of news', according to the NRMA's Peter Khoury.
"For many families this would be either the only time or one of two times or three times a year where they will travel long distances to have a break", he told Sky News.
"It's not like driving around your normal neighbourhood, you've got to prepare and be ready for the fact that you're facing different driving conditions.
